Irene was my Grandma's name!! DD was the only one of our kids that got to know her Grammy (my mom). And DD was only five when Grammy died. So that is why I always tell people to cherish grandparents 'cause you don't realize how lucky you are to have them in your lives.

Hope Stephanie enjoys her day at Grandma's tomorrow.

What a coincidence!!!

I love that name and I almost named Stephanie Irene after my Grandma. Then I decided to use Irene as a middle name so Stephanie could have her own identity with her own first name. My grandma was so overwhelmed when she found out that Stephanie's middle name was Irene - it was a very wonderful moment!!!

Stephanie will enjoy tomorrow at her Great Grandmas. They have a tea party all the time and watch tv all day long. The day is very very relaxing for Stephanie, which is good, I think she needs that to unwind.

I wish Katie could spend some more alone time with my Grandma but she can't. My Grandma is completely together in the mind, but her body is falling apart on her. Her arthritis is so bad, her back is bad and she's going to have a knee replacement done in the spring. My Grandma couldn't pick Katie up to change a diaper, or probably put on a diaper with her bad hands. In fact, when Katie was born, she told me that she just couldn't watch her like she did Stephanie - which really hurt her to say that because she doesn't like to admit she's aging. I told her that I naturally understand and she could see her as often as she liked.

Katie loves my Grandma - as soon as Katie see's my Grandma she says to her, "Up" and my poor Grandma can't do that. So my Grandma will sit down and Katie will crawl up into her lap. I hope Katie will remember my Grandma like Stephanie will, because she's an amazing lady!!!

Good Monday morning everyone!!!

The Golden Globes are on tonight - I'm so excited!!!

Greetings everyone! I am doing my week of nights so I am home today & will work in the evening/night.

Trails End Buffett is at FW. Next door to Hoop de do review (which we could not afford!)The food is really great - comfort food! We ate their on James bday and they were really sweet. The CM asked him if liked big or small clelebrations. He opted for big so she had the whole place sing to him! I just thought the food was great & good price.

eeyore -I'll have to think about CP. I have read good things about it! We don't do a lot of table service meals for budget reasons, but as the kids get older I am enjoying trying new places.

slo - the girls are so cute! We picked the same wallpaper border for one of our exam rooms! The doctor I work for loves Disney, too. W ehave 2 Pooh rooms, one Buzz and one Pinnochio.

I haven't heard any requests for postcards from WDW, but please do'nt hesitate to ask ( I mean everyone). I would love to make someone's day! ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Thanks!!! :flower:

I love Katie's room so much!!! When we moved a year after Katie was born, I had Kevin do her room exactly the same because I loved it so much.

Also, thanks for the explanation of Trails End Buffet - it sounds great!!!

Another suggestion of somewhere to eat is at The Kona Cafe for breakfast. We love it here!!! :teeth: Tonga Toast is my most favorite breakfast not only at WDW, but anywhere in the country :goodvibes . If you haven't tried it, I would ::yes:: :goodvibes ::yes:: :goodvibes

Good Morning everyone! Hope everyone's week is going well!

slo - STupid question - I know - where is Kona? I have seen it mentioned in other places. It does sound good.

Hi all! We've got snow and ice today and the kiddos are home from school! :cool1: But unfortunately there's not enough to go play in. I want one big snowfall this winter that we can really get out and play in. The boys played outside Saturday but it was a race with the sun to play before the snow melted. It was so funny 'cause they were in the front yard where the sun doesn't hit much and they were building a snowman. But in the back yard, where the sun had been hitting, there was no snow at all left! :rotfl:

Idroveallnight ~ if you don't mind I'll answer the question you asked slo...Kona is in the Polynesian. And slo is right...it's a great place, for breakfast or lunch. I wasn't too impressed with the Tonga toast. It's french toast stuffed with banana. The french toast was delicious, I just didn't like the banana stuffing. But so many people rave about it that I just had to try it. If we go again I'll just order it without the stuffing! :teeth: They also have, by far, the best burgers we have found anywhere at WDW. The bacon cheeseburger is wonderful. And, if I remember correctly, it was only $9.95.
Are you all counting down the days yet!?

eeyore - my mom helped the kids print their countdown calendars! I am so excited! For some reason I just NEED to go to WDW!! I am sure you & everyone else understands! :goodvibes

What a great thread.
My Dh is a career firefighter of 15 years now, and has been in fire services since he was 15. He's a captain, and training officer, for his department, but took the test to get his promotion to Assistant Cheif (one of three in his department) and barring all interoffice scuffle (politics) will get that promotion sometime soon.
It's in their blood, twice on vacation my DH has stopped b/c he saw an accident happen and could NOT keep himslef from assisting the crews there, sadly, both were fatalities..I say this b/c THAT is why I get sad for him. He helps TONS of people, but he sees so much. My one true blessing in life during hurricane Katrina (other than my family being safe, which was HUGE) was that my husband's department is NOT in New Orleans and he did not have to go there. His heart wanted to go, he BEGGED to go, but greedily I was glad to keep him from such pain, and he was BADLY needed here.
Man can I ramble huh?
Anyway, long story short, career firefighter, EMT, HazMat Specialist, LSU Grad of Fire Science, and MY HERO!!

Good morning everyone!!!

cakesnkids - Welcome to our thread!!!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you visit often. It was very interesting to hear about your DH and I hope you will be able to share more in the future.

eeyoresmountainpals - You didn't like Tonga Toast!!

I'm just kidding :) !! There's alot of people don't care for it - Kevin being one of them!!! I have never tried Kona Cafe for lunch and therefore I have never tried their burger. We'll have to give it a try this year - I always like trying new things to eat.

Idroveallnight - Another place that we like to eat breakfast is The Concord Steakhouse in The Contemporary. They have a good breakfast and it's convient on the way to the parks. They have really good steak too for dinner :teeth:

Well, I better get myself going - have a good day everyone!!! (I'm so glad they put my favorite smilie back on the front page)

TGIF!!!!!

  You gotta love Fridays!!!

Woohoo for Friday!I work a half day today & then all day & late tomorrow and then I am done with my week of nights. It's good! I am beginning to get frustrated. Sometimes people call and schedule appointments for really sill y stuff!

James has pinewood derby this weekend. He & Jim based his car model on the Hudson Hornet.

Sarah & Emily have a competition this weekend. I won't be able to go because of work, but this one is local so it will be OK. After the competition Emi's team is going to perform at halftime at a college basketball game.

Busy, busy weekend! How about averyone else?? What are ya'll up to??

Idroveallnight - it does sound like you have a busy weekend. Good luck to James with his Pinewood Derby. Also, good luck to Sarah and Emily with their competition this weekend. I hope they all do well!!! :flower:

On our agenda this weekend we are going out to eat tomorrow night at The Weber Grill restaurant, which is located in downtown Chicago. We are going with Kevin parents to celebrate Kevin's birthday that was on Dec. 28th.

Then on Sunday we have nothing planned :) . Gotta like that!!! :flower:

slo - nothing planned sounds really good!! I hope ya'll have a great dinner. Sarah's boyfriend gave us a gift certificate to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for Christmas and we've been saving it. I think we may try to get a ressie around Valentine's Day. Usually if we go out to eat it's O'Charley's - where kids eat free!!!

I think we have a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse here in Chicago too. If you go, I can hardly wait to hear about it - Kevin and I are always looking for good places to go for our anniversary (which is in June, so you better use that gift certificate soon!! :rotfl: ).

We have some fresh fallen snow here from last night and it is so pretty outside!! It rained before it snowed so the snow is really stuck good to everything - very peaceful looking. Now if the deer come out, that will make the whole snow scene even more perfect. :)

Gotta go and get breakfast made - have a good Saturday!!!

slo - I have eaten at Ruth's Chris & it is awesome!! Of course this is only when the drug reps buy us lunch!! It is very spendy! That's so awesome that you have snow!! Of course if Jim saw the deer he would shoot them!! That would be his perfect winter day!!

Sarah & Emily's squads both took first! Sarah's squad also got high point champions! Pinewood Derby tomorrow!

Good Sunday morning!!! :surfweb:

I ate way to much last night
7.gif
!!! I ordered the 12oz filet in hopes to take some home for Kevin and it was so good that I couldn't stop eating :cloud9: Before I knew it, it was all gone  So after 2 watermelon martinis, 2 pretzel bread rolls, 2 steak skewers (appetizer), the 12oz filet w/ bleu cheese and mushrooms, and the garlic mashpotatoes, I had a big stomachache :guilty: :teeth: Then we came home and I slept like a baby  I guess I should eat fat free all day today to help make-up for what I did last night

It's good to know that you like Ruth's Chris, I've always wanted to go there. If it's super expensive, then maybe we'll wait for a more special anniversary to go there, like our 15th :scratchin

Congrats to Sarah and Emily for taking first place :cheer2:
Good luck to James today with his Pinewood Derby :thumbsup2

Well, gotta run and eat some breakfast and then go to Mass. Have a good Sunday!!

slo - the dinner sounds wonderful!! All my favorites! I'll let you know about the cost at Ruth's Chris after I go! James & Jim are at the race now! I'll let you know how it goes!

Good morning!! :surfweb: (I love this new smilie, it's me every morning)

How did James do in the race??

slo - James won a blue ribbon for most realistic car! :woohoo: He is very excited as he didn't get any awards last year. He didn't win any races, but he is happy with his award. Jim is going to start researching now to figure out how to make those little boogers go faster! :moped:

Holy cow! I can't believe all the new smileys! Have I just not been paying attention?? I have spent most of my tim etrying to read the Have you had a shock? thread! Now I have to start posting more so I can use the smileys!

Good morning!! :surfweb:
