Greetings everyone! I'm pretty new at the Disboards, but found this string and had to jump in. Hubby has been firefighter for 8 years now. We're headed to Disney World on Dec 3rd for a week - will be his and DD5's first time!! I've seen some info on Mickey's Fire House, any other places he would enjoy? Any favorite Fire Dept souveniers I could look out for?

Good morning everyone - it's

!!!

Idroveallnight - We cancelled our Chicago trip because Katie and myself came down with a bad cold and I don't want us going and risk getting sicker before the holidays. We are pretty bummed out about not going :guilty:and we haven't broke the news to Stephanie yet. Oh well, maybe next year  .

I hope you get well soon from your surgery  . If you don't mind me asking - what did you have surgery for? Take care of yourself - here's lots of PD for you to heal fast :wizard:

Thanks for stopping by - I hope you come by often to visit. Is your DH a full time fireman or a volunteer fireman? My DH is a volunteer fireman in our town and he's been doing this for 8 years also. To answer your question about FD souveniers at WDW, the only place is the Mickey Firehouse at the MK. You can also find Mickey Mouse shaking a firemans hand pin just about anywhere they sell pins.

Well, I better get moving and get ready for work - have a good day everyone!!

Hi SLO - THANK YOU for the welcome! Hubby works full time at FD. We will definately be stopping by Mickey's Firehouse. Hubby was told to bring department shirts to possibly trade, but we didn't know what to expect or what else was available. His fire fighting collection is HUGE and with xmas coming up, I'm hoping to snag a gift or two while there.

I hope your family recovers quickly from cold. We're Disney bound 15 days from now. With the weather dropping temps so quickly, I'm doing everything I can to keep family healthy before trip.

beetle - welcome! There are other FD pins, too! Donald has a cute one. This past trip we stopped at E one (makers of fire trucks) and did a tour. It was fun. DH enjoyed it the most! We also have visited or driven by all of the fire stations. Some are really cool. You can leave patches at the FD in MK and at where's the fire (?) I think in Epcot.

slo - I had breast reduction with reconstruction. I'm doing well. It's hard to not do anything with your arms. I feel like a T-rex!!!

Good morning everyone and Happy Saturday!!! :sunny:

Idroveallnight - how are you feeling today?? Lots and lots of PD for you to feel better soon!!:wizard: I know someone that had a breast reduction and she was so happy that she had it done - I hope you'll be happy that you had it done too.

Here's a picture from the Dis Meet I went to last weekend. This little boy is BethanyF's 7yr old son, and Stephanie and him had a lot of fun - they were dancing up a storm. :)

Well, have a good Saturday and I'll talk to you all soon!!

Hi Everyone!

Wow, I feel like a stranger around here! It's been so long since I posted. I've skimmed back and tried to catch up on things but can't read back to when I dropped out of sight.

Our trip to WDW last month was awesome. I've posted a trip report in case anyone is interested. I finally got it finished up with pictures. Here's the link:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=951773

Idroveallnight ~ I hope that you're feeling better soon. The surgery that you had is actually a surgery that our daughter has talked about. She's only 20 but she says that once she's settled in her career in a couple of years it's something she wants to seriously consider.

Slo ~ The Dis Meet sounds like it was a lot of fun. Would love to have one of those around here. I'm sorry that you had to cancel your Chicago trip. Was Stephanie very disappointed?? I hope you and Baby Kate are over your colds by now.

BEETLE ~ Welcome. Hope to see you around here a lot. My DH and I are both volunteer firefighters. I am also taking classes and working toward my Emergency Management degree. DH is also a Sheriff's Deputy.
Where are you staying on your trip next month??? We were there last month and stayed at the POLY.
When we were at MGM last month we were lucky enough to get a tour of their emergency operations center where they dispatch fire and security. They have an awesome collection of patches from all over! Our oldest DS is 16 and he has Down Syndrome. He collects both police and fire department patches and the tour was such an awesome thrill for him.

Glad I got on here and tried catching up with everyone. I'll try to get on here more often. I've missed you guys!

Have a great Saturday!!

Hi Kathy - good to see you back!!! Please don't be a stranger - okay :grouphug:

I looked at your trip report and it was very nice and very informative :) . I liked the part about you asking to not be flamed about not liking AK - I've been flamed myself for saying this and therefore I don't share this opinion of mine very often

Also, the view from your room at The Contemporary was just like our view - this was our view at daytime

After looking at your trip report, I'm really kicking myself for not taking pictures during the fireworks - what was I thinking???? :guilty: Oh well, maybe another time ;)

I also really liked the photo of the palm trees blowing during the hurricane

You're boys will never forget that they were at Disney during a hurricane :)

Well, I guess I better run and start my day - have a good Sunday

Good morning all - it's

It's also a short work week, which makes me pretty happy!!! :cool1:

Have a good day everyone

Good morning everyone - The Polar Express comes out today and I'm really excited about it :cool1: - I love this movie!!!

So, are you all ready for Thanksgiving? I'm ready - all my food is bought and planned out and all I need to do is clean my house.

I hope you all have a good day

Hi Eeyore and thank you. We're staying at Floridian. my parents declared they will take all grandchildren to Disney World once they turn 5 (and parent's get to go too!). They pick dates and place, then we plan. Neither DD5 nor DH have been to Disney World and it's been almost 20 years since my last trip. We're now 11 days away and I am so excited I can't see straight!

Does your son have patch from KY? I'd be happy to send one your way. PM me with address if interested.

Good morning everyone!!! :sunny:

I'm just flying by

to say a quick hi!! Stephanie has a Thanksgiving Day pagent this morning and our morning routine is totally out of whack.

Have a good day everyone and talk to you all later!!!

Hello everyone! Is everyone busy getting ready for Thanksgiving? I sure am. Busy "company cleaning." :rotfl: That's what my boys always call it when we're cleaning extra good 'cause company's coming over. We have some friends up in the area from FL and they'll be here tomorrow for Thanksgiving dinner. We were supposed to get together last night for dinner at a pizza place but we had our first snowfall yesterday. They're staying in a condo on a mountaintop and couldn't get off the mountain!

Beetle - You sound so excited about your up-coming trip. You will not believe how much it has changed since you were there last. I know you'll have a great time! Thanks for the patch offer...I'm going to PM you our info.

slo ~ I'm sure Stephanie's pageant will be wonderful. Let us know!

If I'm not on in the morning I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday today :grouphug:

eeyoresmountainpals - I've been doing some mild "company cleaning" too :) I say mild because everyone coming to my house, except my Uncle and Aunt from Washington, have seen my house in all conditions  Do the boys love Thanksgiving? Is your DD coming home or already home for the holiday? Katie doesn't have much of an opinion on Thanksgiving yet, but Stephanie loves this holiday!! Her pageant went really well yesterday - very very cute!!!

Well, I better run and see how long I have to cook this bird - our meal is at approx. 5:30pm. I wish it were earlier, but my Aunt and Uncle plane doesn't land until approx. 3pm. What time are you all eating?

Anyway.......I gotta run!! Happy Thanksgiving again and I'll talk to you all later!!! :grouphug:

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone. I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

We've had some unexpected bad news this morning and although I don't want to be a downer to anyone on Thanksgiving I would like to ask for some thoughts and prayers.

I just got off the phone with a close family friend of ours in PA. Our boys call them Nana and Grandpa. "Grandpa" is in the hospital and was just diagnosed yesterday with a brain tumor. They are going to be operating next Wednesday. The tumor is right near the lobe for speech. They don't know if it's cancerous. OMG! I feel like I've been hit by a train! Nana was my mom's foster sister when she was growing up and she's about 10 years younger than my mom was. Nana and Grandpa are the closest thing we have to real family. Nana needs someone to be with her Wednesday and I guess I need to try to figure out if I can go. It's about a 10-12 hour drive from here. I could use some hugs!

Thanks everyone!

eeyoresmountainpals - Kathy, I am so sorry to hear this. Many, many, many hugs for you :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: Please keep us posted on how he is doing and I will keep him in my prayers  .

Thanks, slo!

Good morning everyone!!! :sunny:

How was everyone's Thanksgiving? Ours was very good and the food was outstanding!!! :goodvibes Kevin unfortunately had many call yesterday - 6 to be exact - so he was in and out of the house alot. One call was for a Chimney fire and that took him awhile. Luckily, he had already gotten through his meal  .

Today is put up the X-mas tree in the family room day

. This is always a favorite day for me. I just stay in my sweat pants all day and graze

my way through the day with all the leftovers. Currently I have cinnamon rolls baking the oven - I love eating the day after Thanksgiving even more than Thanksgiving day. I think it's because the stress is off about making a good meal and having everyone over.

Well, my cinnamon rolls are almost done, so I guess I better go. Have a good day everyone!!!!

Good morning everyone!!!

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a while! I think I went back to work too soon after my surgery! By the time I get home I'm too tired to type!! :rotfl: Of course the cheerleading squad I coach is two weeks away from our big competition so we are practicing alot! Lots to do!! James' team won their first play-off game yesterday so we advance to the next round. If we win next week then it's off to the Youth Bowl! They really have a great team, but it's very serious! Our coach is very focused on winning and sometimes forgets about the fun part!

eeyores - I will keep you in my prayers and I hope everything will turn out well!

slo - glad to hear the pageant went well. I picked up our tree yesterday (we buy real). It's sitting in water now. I can't lift my arms because of surgery so the decorations won't come out of the attic until DH comes home - and that could be next year!!

Did anyone go shopping on Black Friday? I went for alittle while before work. People are SO insane!!

Good Monday morning everyone!! :umbrella:

I guess my 4 day weekend has come to an end and I have to go back to work today :guilty: I do love my job, but I love being home more ;). Luckily, I have only a 4 day week and that is pretty nice. Friday Kevin and I are going X-Mas shopping by ourselves all day - I love doing this!!! :)

Idroveallnight - Wow, you did go back to work quick after your surgery - I thought you would have been home for awhile. Just be careful so you don't run yourself down - here's a little PD to help you have the extra strength to keep you going :wizard: . Congrats on James team for winning their game :cheer2: and good luck to your DD and her team. You'll have to keep us posted on how they do in a couple of weeks.

eeyoresmountainpals - how's Grandpa doing? Please keep us posted on his condition. I'm still keeping him, Nana and you in my prayers.

Well, I gotta run - have a good day everyone!!!
