Nothing to new since my last post.

I ended up working Saturday, because my employee was sick. I was a bit bummed, because I missed the bday party I was suppossed to go to, but my employee never calls off, so I wasn't mad at her.

Yesterday we went to my inlaws for dinner - they made St. Patricks Day dinner - corn beef, cabbage, veggies and soda bread - it was yummy!!!! Then we came home and watched the movie Rat Race - I forgot how funny that movie is.

Now I'm enjoying my non-stressed morning with Stephanie on spring break:)

So everything has been pretty low key - that's how I like it!!!!!:thumbsup2

Have a good day!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: glad we are back up and running! :goodvibes I had a very productive weekend! Saturday I ran a bunch of errands. I got Mike's bday gift (can't say what I got him, bc he's a DIS lurker and is subscribed to this thread) I'm very excited about it! His bday isn't until may! i also bought shoes for the wedding. on sale at sears! hmmmm, what else, oh yeah, we went and ok'd the mold for my wedding band! that was exciting! Yesterday we went to PF Chang's for my gma's bday. it was ok. i had never been there and my sisters rave about it. i thought it was just ok. i'd go again but it wouldn't be my first choice.

hope everyone enjoyed their beautiful weekend! :goodvibes have a wonderful day!

Morning all. We had a busy baby weekend! More to add to the population.:lmao:
Paint, glad to hear your "teaching" presentation went well.
Hi Dan, nice to see you drop in.
Slo, I hope you have a wonderful spring break week.:flower3:
Donna, what did you find at the pet show?
Bunchkin, I hope Hunter is back to his old self. How is you MIL doing? I hope she is feeling a little better. I keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.
Hi piglet, hersey, ID, DG, Leigh, Crissup, Carol-hope you are feeling better as well. And everyone else lurking :)Have a great day.
:dance3:is over!!!!! :woohoo:I can now move on to DS and baseball season:faint:. I am still waiting for that day of nothing.
Looks like a bunch of us are coming up on our vacation scramble. Anyone packed? I haven't even dug the suitcases out yet. DD told me this morning it was time to get busy! :rotfl:She is more than ready to leave. I have got to go find her some capris. I am not expecting it to be overly warm in CA in April. It is so hard to pack when you don't know the weather pattern. Probably why I have yet to start setting things aside.:rolleyes1 I tried finding a 14 day forecast for LA but could only find a 5 day.
Hi Mac. Thanks as always for the listings.
Today is :laundy:day and a bit of house cleaning. I am very behind with working last week and Peter Pan shows.
Better get moving. Talk to you all later.

Hi gang! I just love the weekend! It was pretty productive - laundry is all caught up, a little, very little, cleaning was done, the floor in the camper is almost done, and I started raking up leaves at the camper. I have the blister to prove it.

Slo - Have a great spring break week! Are you and the girsl going to do anything fun?

Tiggern - The suitcases are ready to be packed. I bought the obligatory new underwear this weekend. I don't know why I do that but I do! Oh, and sunglasses. My from last year were crooked on my face. I need ds to try on his shorts cause I know some of them will be too short and those will be the ones that end up getting packed. I tried to bribe that I would give him the $$ from any that sold at Once Upon A Child.

DG - Sounds like a good weekend for you! I never look at shoes at Sears. I don't know why. Maybe because I don't like to shoe shop! I bet it was fun approving your wedding band. I have never been to PF Changs. I don't think I am in a hurry either.

Hi to everyone else! Have a good day!
Lori

Argh! Our house has an unfinished basement. So, for lighting, it just has ceramic light fixtures mounted to the ceiling with pull strings on them to switch them on and off. They're cheap fixtures, about $2 each, and the pull strings are very hard to pull, which means they're prone to break. Anyway, I broke another one two weeks ago and decided to replace it with a cheap flourescent fixture from Farm & Fleet that I found on sale.

So, over the weekend, I yanked out the old ceramic fixture and just replaced it with an electrical outlet. Then, mounted the light, installed the bulbs and plugged it in. Wallah!! Let there be light! Of course, that's when I realized it!! How could I have overlooked such a simple detail?!? :confused3 The stupid flourescent fixture was so cheap that it didn't have a pull cord on it!!

I couldn't believe I had overlooked such a little detail! Guess I must have had my head firmly implanted in my posterior gland at the time I bought it! ;) I felt so darned stupid!

Fortunately, I had a spare fixture laying out in the shed waiting for me to get around to running power out there. I'm lucky that I won't need a pull cord on the light in the shed since my plan is to use a regular light switch when I install it. Whew!!

Quick replace, plug it in, *pull the string* and, Wallah!! Let there be light... (again)!

Wow. I can't believe the boards were down almost all Sunday. It was a little sad (not really) how often I tried them! Anyway, I guess I got some more stuff done than usual...laundry, gym, homework, met with my teraching partner. Other than that, I worked Fri. and Sat. night and it was dead! Horrible! I made the least amount of money on a Sat. night ever this past weekend!
momto- My mom always buys new stuff for vacations, sometimes months in advance, and saves them until the trip. We'd buy her stuff for Xmas and she'd save it until summer for a trip! I have begun buying stuff for my trip, though. Mostly new summer stuff since I've gained, oh, 15 lbs. since last summer. Thank goodness I'm tall...more room for it to be distributed (that's what I tell myself!).
Tig- How awesome to be around all those babies. DD wants to be an OBGYN and has since K. She even said it on career day. She said she asked the class if anyone knew what that was. Of course, they didn't. She said, "It someone who helps mommies push out their babies." Oh boy. Some kids probably had questions after that!
Dgal- Yay for sale shoes! I've also never been to PF Changs. Everyomne does rave about it, esp. the lettuce wrap, si I'd like to try it sometime.
slo- I still have school this week, but at least I don't have to rush around to get the kids ready. They are also spending a few nights at Grandma's, seperately, so it will be a peaceful week around. No fighting/rough housing!
Hersey-Warmer temps would be lovely. We were trying to assemble a new grill and my hand were so cold. I kept dropping screws which fell through the boards in the deck!We gave up!
Donna, Dan, Crissup...Morning!

Stephanie has begun her spring break with a stomach virus:guilty:
The poor thing was sick most of the day yesterday, and her plans with my mom can no longer happen today - she's not happy :sad2: Luckily she slept all night (I didn't, because I was listening for her), and now she just woke up like a grizzly bear:eek: Crabby, crabby, crabby!!! It's going to be a long day with her at work with me :headache:

DG - I'm glad you had a good weekend :)
**I took the Disney quiz on Facebook and I think you were taking it at the same time as me. Were you taking that quiz at around 9pm last night? The quiz made it seem like you were taking it at the same time. You got a higher score than me, but I got 100% right:confused:

TTTTTiiiiigggernnnnnn - Yes, it is hard to pack when you don't know the weather. Remember last October when I packed one way, and then a couple days before leaving I had to change the whole thing - you just never know:confused:

momto1 - I have no plans with Stephanie because I have to work:guilty: I look forward to summer when all my employees are done with school, and I can have some time off to spend with the girls.

Crissup - Reading your post reminds me of myself. I miss small details like that all the time (never at work for other people - for them I am over detailed). When I see I forgot something it always follows with me saying, "why can't anything be easy?!?!":headache::confused:

paint - I'm sorry about work being so slow :guilty: This economy sucks!!!!

Well, I need to run and take Sophie out and get ready for my fun day with Stephanie at work. I sure hope she cheers up, because it's going to be a long day if she doesn't:rolleyes:

Have a good day!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: just a quick fly by today... lots of work to be done! hope everyone is well!

I posted this Sat night just as the boards were going down.. so here ya go..

Greetings,, well today has been busy.. got Eric packed and off to the Marching Band Hawaii trip.. he should have a blast.. he left Chi at 3 pm CST and got to LA at 5:30 PT.. then change planes and off to Hawaii.. He is landing in Honolulu about 9:30 LC which is 5 hours earlier than CT..

Meanwhile back at the ranch my dryer stopped working.. wouldn't turn on at all.. so I checked the website for appliance samurai .. and Geoff research this issue, took the dryer apart and tested various things.. he concluded that I needed a thermofuse.. so they left to Sears appliance and got one.. installed it and NOTHING HAPPENED>>he researched some more, did some more taking apart of the dryer, testing things and concluded that he didn't have the expertise to determine the causes..

So DH and I researched new dryers.. we went to Sears..where no one would wait one us at all.. just too busy chatting with each other.. then we went to Lowes, SAMs - where DH still had his card but our memebership expired but if they had the dryer at the right price we would have renewed - to Costco - where they let us in because we had an expired SAMs membership and wanted to look at Costco..The Costco n schaumberg had a dryer that was many levels above what we had looked at for a really cheap price.. we left, i went online to research the dryers.. and the one at Costco was the cheapest and the best by $200...So I called a friend to get her referral number so she would get a free pizza. and we went to the Costco in Lake Zurich.. why?? the tax in Cook County is much higher than the tax in Lake County.. so we wanted to save some $$$.. Well Lake Zurich didn't have the dryer.. so back to Schaumberg we went..joined Costco.. we got a $20 gc for joining plus the free pizza and additional $$ off the dryer as we got the floor model..

so we are home and DH and Geoff are going to install.. I am gonna miss Geoff so much when he is gone...:sad1:
Tomorrow we are going to Cornell for Scholarship Recognition Day for Geoff..This will be the first time that DH has visited Cornell..

anyway back to helping with the dryer install...

Have a great day, friends!:)

I worked at the Chicago Pet show for Strays on Friday.. how did it go for you?? Did you buy anything??

SLO - hope stephanie is doing better today..

Geoff is home this week on spring break so he is hanging with friends and doing many projects around the house..
At the Cornell visit on sunday, they told us to get twin extra long sheets.. anyone know who carries those??

Geffric ~ I avoid shopping in Cook County as much as I can. The sales tax is so much higher.
* I take it he picked Cornell. What made him go with that school? Any info that you could pass along for my son? Cornell is one of the schools he is interested in.

We can talk about it if you want.. pm me if you are interested and I'll call you..

Anyway, Geoff was looking for a small liberal arts school that no one from his high school would go to, He used the book by Lauren Pope as his guide http://www.ctcl.org/ ..but he loved that it was only 20 minutes away from U of Iowa if he wanted a big ten experience.. he liked the one course at a time.. he is ADHD and will do so much better with this model..The school felt right to him - he has been overnight, been to lots of classes felt that it was a fit for him.he has talked with both students and facality so he has a good feel for the school. He is used to classes that are small and wanted a personalized experience in college..he never wanted to go to a class with 100 others.. he liked that the classes were 16 or so...he looked at Beloit, Knox, Earlham, Roanoke, Bradley..

Thanks! I'll pass along that info to Kevin. I'll probably pick your brain so more next year, since he is only a freshman now. Plus, then you'll know about Geoff's experiences and all.

i bought those babies for 6 years straight.
3 in college during those times.

you can buy them about anywhere. the cheapest are at kmart and target.
they are listed as xlong twin. you will see them out by july in the stores.

all dorms have the xlong mattresses.

i was stupid the summer before my david went away to college. i ordered from the welcome packet from Whitewater,Wi college. i learned quickly.

most of the threads will be 250 count. my boys never minded. you can get them in 300 count at some places such as bed bath and beyond.

just jumping in here while i get my morning ration of coffee.

i over slept big time today.....

i do more than that, i go over the "border".

Wisconsin has cheaper tax than lake county in illinois.

.......:surfweb:

Thanks MAC.. I'll check Target..

he can even stay with Geoff on his overnight...

Happy Tuesday!

I wish it wasn't raining, it's such a good temperature outside, but the rain makes it difficult to think about going to take a walk.

Slo, I am sorry to hear that Stephanie isn't feeling well. Hope she gets better quick, so she (and you) can enjoy her spring breaktime.

Crissup, I had to laugh at your "fixture fiasco" only because it sounds like something we would do, too.

Mac & Geffric...yep, we did the extra long sheets thing, too. Every year we wld get this letter from the college "REGULAR SHEETS WILL NOT FIT OUR BEDS...YOU *MUST* SPECIAL ORDER THESE BOO-COO BUCKS SHEETS OR ELSE!" Umm...yeah, no...we just went to the Target for them, too.

Tig and everyone else planning a trip soon...have a *great* time and don't forget, we need trip reports!

For those that asked, we had a good time at the pet show on Saturday. It was huge, three levels. I'm glad we got there early because it was really crowded by the time we left. They had tons and tons of booths of things for dogs, cats, birds. We enjoyed the "dancing with your dog" show. Of course, I wanted to hug and take home all the little doggies up for adoption, they were so cute! We did manage to resist (our dog wouldn't want to share his people), but picked up some treats for Binx.

Shout out to ALL..have a good day!

Hi all! :wave2:

Just caught up on reading about 2 weeks worth of posts I've missed!!

Everyone here is feeling better... finally!!

DD just got picked to be in the Math Bee for her class. Not sure when the Bee is just yet. She's totally excited about it.

DH's mom has moved from the hospital and into a nursing home for further treatment. She will need to be there for 4 to 6 weeks in order to fight this infection she has. It's just awful! And of course all this while she won't be able to have any chemo until the infection is gone.
So DH is now also caring for his dad, as his dad does absolultly nothing for himself. DH really has his hands full between working all day and then taking care of tons of things at his parent's house and then visiting his mom each day.

momto1 Sorry to hear about your mom. Just today on WGN noon news they had someone mention a Gluten free grocery store. Maybe you can search for it on their web site?

slo Hope Steph is feeling better. No fun to spend a vacay sick. I haven't been to the mall in ages. I have been to the Promenade in Bolingbrook which is an outdoor mall, just the other week, and it was packed.

Hersey Hope all your car troubles are over.

Tiggerrn Shouldn't be hard finding capris as warm weather clothes are now every where at the stores.

piglet Sorry to hear work has been slow.

geffric Sounds like Geoff picked a great school to go to!
Glad you were able to get a deal on the new dryer.

disneygal Thanks for letting us know there is a Lou's opening in Tinley. I don't get over that much lately. I'm either coming off of 167th and going North, or off of 191st and going south!! :)

HI to all!!

Well, I need to run and pick up DD from school. The Math Bee kids were working on banners of some sort today.
