Hey y'all!!

I'm back from Savannah. It really is a very cool place and if you ever need a vacation destination where you can relax and have a great time, try Savannah. The history, culture and food are amazing. I gained weight, there's no doubt about that. Fried green tomatoes, grits, greens, and crab cakes are not low fat!! I'm back on the diet now that I'm home though! Paula Deen's will make you want to slap your Mama, that's how good the food is there!

The houses and architecture are just fabulous. Three hundred years of history and most of it still exists! And like Las Vegas, you can drink on the street. Cocktails to go!! You can rent a square there for a wedding for $250.00 for five hours. We saw lots of weddings on Friday & Saturday nights. Beautiful squares, fountains, gazebos, all yours for the low low price of $250.00!! Can't beat that with a stick. Most of the squares have flowering trees and bushes. I'd move there in heartbeat! If you lived and worked in that area of Savannah, gas prices would be of no concern. Lots of students there as there are several universities in the area and lots of kids on bikes. A very dog oriented town too! Lots of people with their pooches!

We didn't see any ghosts thank goodness, but I did get lots of orbs on my pictures. The people are also amazing! So nice and friendly! It's a bit of a culture shock for us "rude" yankees! HA!

Well, I better get back to work, but I wanted to stop in and say Hey Y'all!

Sam

Welcome back! I would love to visit the "old South" someday. Fried green tomatoes, yummy!! How was the sweet tea?

Good Morning Everyone!:flower3: I can't believe what a GORGEOUS day we are having! I mean we have had a couple nice days but wow... it's about time! I start my summer classes tonight! The books I ordered on Ebay over a week ago still have not arrived. I emailed the sellers so I could get an appoximate date of arrival. At least I can say they are on their way! I have all my other supplies though so I can at least start my project! I am borrowing my dad's architectural scale and forgot it at home! Luckily, i caught him before he left and he's bringing it with him when he comes downtown for work later this afternoon! He's such a great dad! :goodvibes

Paint~ I think it was near Frankfort Square? Not positive b/c I don't really know my Frankfort geography. It was east of 80th ave and North of St. Francis Rd. It looked like a nice neighborhood.

Julez ~ sounds like DD had a wonderful party!

Bunchkin ~ It was definitely trouble making teens. my BIL is a firefighter and they have a lot of police friends so he asked them if it was a good neighborhood for me to move into. They said it wasn't terrible but have had a lot of problems recently with juvinile delinquints breaking into cars and throwing things at windows to break them... now it makes sense why only one of the 3 living room windows were new! maybe if it were a second floor i wouldn't have minded as much. things like that can happen anywhere... the night of my mom's wake our house was broken into and all of her jewelry, my jewelry and laptop and a lot of other stuff was stolen so I get extra nervous because it's happened to me before. that's why my dad had a security system installed. We live in a very good neighborhood.

Sam ~ Glad you had a nice vacation! I know all about culture shock... I went to college in small town Iowa. It amazed me how nice everyone was. The first time i visited campus and we were walking down the street, every passerby said hello! It was awesome! I sometimes miss Iowa... but would NEVER want to live there permanently... i'd miss the hustle and bustle of the city and suburbs... who would have thought i'd miss traffic :confused3

Anywho, I better get back to work. Have a great day everyone!:flower3:

Morning!! :sunny:

Great weather today!!!:cool1:

Sam Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip! :)

disneygal I have a friend who is from REALLY small town Iowa. And it was a total culture shocker when she moved here!!! They live in Plainfield, and to her that is a busy town!!! At first she was terrified to even go to the store because of the amount of traffic in the area. :) But she got over it!!! :)
Hope your books arrive soon.

slo What time should I be over for soup and beer bread?? ;)

Hi to everyone else!!

Morning all. Beautiful Day!!! Headed out shortly to take :tigger: (that would be my pooch) for a walk before it gets too warm. Cleaning house today to get ready for the party this weekend. Family coming for the kids birthdays. Kyle turns 8 on Thursday (Golden Birthday). What do you give a boy for a golden birthday?
Found a new ticker spot for our CA trip. Figured I would put it up. Still going and not coming home. Hoping against hope for a DING. They are up to end of May now. Really sweating this one out, but I really don't want to spend $1000.00 to come home.
Slo, I'm with Bunchkin - when's dinner?!!
Welcome home Sam. Glad you enjoyed your trip!!
Well, I had better move along. Much to do.

Hey Sam- AWESOME trip review of Savanah! Go on over to tripadvisor.com and cut and paste that to their city review, would ya? I'm a BIIG tripadvisor.com contributor. Anyway, that sounded awesome, that city is def. going on my "TO-GO" list!

You know what everybody, I also have never been to Sears Tower- with OR without my kids, as a matter of fact. Maybe we should do a meet there? :rotfl: Anyone interested? Than Ed Debevics? Hmmm.... I've been wanting to do a weekend in the city with the kids and DH anyway.... AND I've always wanted to try to snag a 4-star through priceline.com for $69.00! BTW, anyone ever done that?

So to everyone else :wave2:

last night in town gas dropped to $3.63 from $3.71

this morning, it went back to $3.80

ouch

Well Howdee nieghbor ! :thumbsup2

Hey Mike....By any chance do you do any work for RPTV? I saw your link for DisTV and then when i clicked on it.. it showed "add your location to map" ~ and it looks like your mark is about where the village hall/RPTV station would be. :happytv:

Ah! Had my last class for the semester. It is such a nice feeling. No summer class for me- have to pay for the wedding. Priorities!
piglet- I had fried green tom in TN. Like most things battered and fried- pretty good!
sam- Glad you had a nice trip. I've only passed thru GA on the way to FL.
julez- Sear's Tower is pretty cool. Go put your head on the window, like ferris Bueller did!
becky- I hear Gymknietics is good. Don't know if there is one near you.
slo- I am stamping and ribboning little containers full of Hershey's Kisses and Hugs and adding a tag saying, "Hugs and Kisses from the Mr. and Mrs.". Lots of work. I am also making flower cookie pops to go in flower tins from Target's Dollar Spot. Those are going to be the centerpieces, but I can't make those yet, for obvious reasons!
mac- Gas down south here is 3.52. What a bargain!:rotfl2:
Mcky and Tiggerrn- Enjoy that warm weather. I love it! Took the dog for a walk and tired him out!
ID- Summer school. Grr. I am happy for the break. Good luck! Also, I have family in Frankfort Sq and there are lots of trouble making teens. Nothing major, just nuisance stuff, but still!
hersey- You're a Lost watcher, right? My goal is to catch up. Only watched the 1st episode of this season! TG for them being online!
Okay, better check on the kids. they each have a friend over and its been quiet for a while!

Paint Yes I watch Lost. I record the last couple since something always delays me. Also I can fast forward through the commercials:thumbsup2

It really is a nice day out today. To bad they made me work inside all day I tried to convince them I could work better outside. Of course i would bring the computer with. No one would believe me. :confused3

Hi gang! Thought I better check in cause it had been a couple of days.

Sam - I am glad that you enjoyed your trip! We did Savannah once and loved it.

Disneygal - Did you see Sam's post about renting the squares in Savannah for the wedding? That price sounds really doable! I bet some of us would love to attend the wedding!

Paint - Congrats on being done for the summer. I am sure you can enjoy your days better now.

Mike - Welcome neighbor! I am from Joliet. Stop by oftern.

I finally made it to a track meet for ds last night. His 4x400 relay team took 2nd to an 8th grade team! He was pretty happy.

Anybody else just get some rain? It just poured here for about 5 minutes.

I have a lunch meeting at Brookfield Zoo tomorrow. We are having our annual awards celebration their in June and need to check out the new Pavilions for the event. It should be a nice day for a trip to the zoo.

Need to scoot and get on home.
Lori

Hi guys! Boy what a day! Wish I could have enjoyed more of it outside but I was "lucky" to chaperone my DSs field trip to the Shedd Aquarium ;) . It wasn't too bad at all, the hour on the bus down in traffic was the worst part  .

slo - DS saw Sears Tower today on the bus ride down so now he wants to go up to the top. I told him we'd take a day this summer to take the train to the city and go up to the top. He also liked the looks of Buckingham Fountain.
*Thanks for the kind words for my mom. The coumadin clinic called today to tell her not to come until Thurs. My DSis that is a nurse is going to take her which is good, she'll know better what they are talking about than I would.

Sam - welcome back! Glad you had a great trip, I'm jealous though that you got to eat at Paula Dean's restaurant.

disneygal - summer classes already  . Hopefully the eBay books will get here soon.

Tiggerrn - best of luck with the party this weekend. Sorry to say we didn't do much for DSs golden birthday last year. All he wanted was a Playstation game and to go to a water park (Aug. birthday) so that is what we did. DDs don't have theirs until 14 and 29 so I'm sure they'll have more elaborate plans than DS had at 7yrs ;) .

mac - we haven't been below $3.79 around here for over a week now. DH nearly had a heart attack when he filled my tank last week :sad2: .

paint - congrats on finishing classes and enjoy your summer off!
*Yumm, I love Hershey Huggs!

Hershey - lol, too bad they wouldn't let you work outside. I'm sure you would have been very productive :rolleyes1 .

momto1 - congrats to DS. My DD has her qualifying track meet Saturday for the Conference Championships next weekend.
*We got some rain, one minute it was sunny and the next I saw the driveways were all wet :confused3 . Good thing about it is that it cooled it down a little.
**Enjoy your lunch at the Zoo, that sounds like a cool venue for an event.

Well, I'm off to watch last night's and tonight's Dancing with the Stars. Have a great night everyone!

Yesterday was absolutly fabulous, wasn't it?!?! :sunny:
It makes me so excited to be able to plant some flowers soon :flower2:
My mom and I are going next Wednesday to do that - I can hardly wait - I love buying my flowers!!!!! :flowers: What I can hardly wait for even more, is that I can start having most Wednesday's off because my college employee is coming home - so excited!!!!! :yay: I love the fact that my staff is getting more and more experience :)

MMFan - :wave2:

Sam - Welcome home!!!!! I'm so glad that you had a nice time. I would love to visit down there someday ::yes::
**Did your sister end up having to work the whole time?

piglet - :wave2:

DG - How was your class last night?

Bunchkin - You can come over anytime!!!! :goodvibes
I'm not making it now this week, because Kevin has a meeting tonight, tomorrow I'm making spagetti w/ left over pizza, Friday night I have to work, Saturday night Kevin is in Indy, and Mother's Day I"m having my family over. So, I'll have to make the bread and soup next week :thumbsup2

Tiggggggernnnnnnnn - You can come over anytime too!!! ::yes::
**I have no idea on what you can give Kyle for a golden birthday. I think golden birthdays are fun, and I know I want to do something special for my girls too ::yes:: But they'll be much older - Katie will be 21 and Stephanie will be 22.

Julez - :wave2:

Mac - Gas is crazy expensive here too, but not as bad as by you. When I looked acrossed the street yesterday (there's a Speedway right across the street from the store) it was $3.74

Mike - :wave2:

paint - We had favors almost exactly like that, and they said the exact same thing. We had our kisses and hugs on a white plastic spoon wrapped up with a silk flowers attached - very pretty!!!! :goodvibes Your's sound just as nice!!! :goodvibes

HERSEY - :wave2:

momto1 - Congrats to your DS on doing so well at his track meet :cheer2:
**have a nice lunch at the zoo today!!!

ID - Sounds like you had a nice day with your son yesterday:) Before I had the store, I chaperoned many many field trips, and I always enjoyed it ::yes::
**I hope your mom does well at the doctor Thursday :wizard: Please keep us posted!!!!

Well, I'm off to workout, and get ready for work
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Good rainy Morning Everyone!:flower3: So I have decided to try and convince DF to have a Disney wedding. Originally, we both wanted to have a big traditional wedding; you know with the church and the 250 guests at a hall. Well, as i've been researching and looking into things I think it will actually save us a lot of money. AND i have a lot of extended family who i'm not close with and i KNOW won't come to the wedding regardless of where it is but am obligated to invite them if it is here. The problem is... Mike has a large family and really wants everyone to be there and is hesitant to do out of state b/c it will cost more for them which will subsequently force them not to come. He told me to do more research on it, so i am. The only people i care to be with me are my sisters and my dad... oh and my grandma.

Momto1 - I can't believe I missed that in Sam's post. I might look into if the Disney wedding is outrageous.

Sam - Thanks for the info on the squares. They sound beautiful

Slo - Class was good. nothing too exciting yet! i have art history tonight.

Well, have a good day everyone! :flower3:

Hey Mike....By any chance do you do any work for RPTV? I saw your link for DisTV and then when i clicked on it.. it showed "add your location to map" ~ and it looks like your mark is about where the village hall/RPTV station would be. :happytv:

Nope. Don't work for RPTV. The mark on the map is just for Romeoville in general. I'm really on Dalhart Ave. ( 400 block ) just off Belmont and Dalhart. We're the ones with the big brass Mickey Mouse address sign on the house :rotfl2: .
