Calling all Chicago DISers #2

Morning everyone!

I am thinking about putting together a meet at Ed Debevic's. Right now I thought maybe June 8th or 22nd. The 15th is out since that is Father's Day. Before I post a thread over at the DIS meet board, I wanted to see what type of interest there is here. Also if those dates work. Looking at the website, they do not do parties unless it is a set package. Nor do they de reservations. If we are looking at too big of a group, this location may not work.

Piglet- I'd love to do a meet, but probably not in the city. Way too far for us.

Hi all!!!

Been really busy today!
Besides doing laundry all day here and there, I had 2 school volunteer appreciation events to attend today. The first was at DS's kindergarten school, they had coffee/juice/coffecakes kinda stuff. And then all the kids came into the gyn and sang to us. It was soooo cute!!! I picked a good table to sit at with some other moms I know from our class, we were right in front of our kids!! :goodvibes
Then later DH and I went to DD's school for a luncheon. We ended up bringing DS with, but that was ok there were 4 other kindergarteners there too. They catered in from Jimmy John's. The choir came to perform for us. Then they gave everyone a potted plant in the cutest pots, a huge Hershey chocolate bar, note pads and flower seeds. DH is one of the many dads who has volunteered at the school but he was the only one to go to the luncheon!!! One dude in a slew of moms!!
After that we went shopping.

slo Hope your day is going smoothly for you. Have fun at dinner tonight. :)

geffric Hope you get to go to WDW!! :goodvibes

paint Make tons of loot tonight!!! :thumbsup2

mac Lovin' the hula dancer. :yay:

irish dancer Glad to hear your mom is home!!! :goodvibes

disneygal Where did you and your dad lunch at? :)

piglet I would be up for Ed's. I would have to check my dates though. Last year I called them about having a DIS meet there and they are really stinky about their fixed price menu for groups.
Don't forget we are going to be having a Wall.E movie meet soon too! :thumbsup2

Hi to everyone else!!! :wave2:

Need to go figure out what's for dinner.
DD has a troop meeting tonight. And tomorrow is a big Girl Scout spaghetti dinner/bake sale for our service unit. Totally forgot until a while ago I need to bake something for it!!! What a dope!

Bunchkin- I hope! I am sitting here waiting for df to get home so I can go back to work. Tomorrow we have tons of prom reservations. Not looking forward to that. thank goodness for automatic gratuity for groups!
Slo- Good luck with the show tomorrow!

Hi guys!

Well, my fairly relaxed Friday turned pretty busy. Did my morning walk, before the storms thank goodness. My mom needed to go for a follow-up check on her coumadin levels so I brought her to the hosp for blood work then ran to get my hair cut, picked her up and took her to the MDs office. Had to pick DS up from school and take him to the MD. Now DS and DD6 are having a sleep over at Grammy & Papa's. DD11 has a track meet at 7:45a tomorrow, ugh.

slo - I hope you survived your busy day. Best of luck tomorrow at the show.

mac - I like your hula girl too, very cute.

Mckymousefn - hope your son got in his game. Very wierd weather day, storms then sun then rain again. At least they are saying nice for Sunday.

paint - hope the Spanish final went well and that you get lots of good tips $$$ this weekend.

piglet - I'd love a meet, being new it would be nice to put faces with names.

Bunchkin - those appreciation events sound so nice. I was invited to one at DSs school but I didn't go.
*Are there plans for the Wall.E meet?

I tell you it is quite wierd having only DD11 home, it would be very different around here if she were an only child ;). Not looking forward to next week, DH has to go to Calif for work so I'll be flying solo with the kiddos til Thurs night.

Well, guess I'd better go and get DDs stuff together for her meet tomorrow. G'night everyone!

I'm back! :lmao:

Sorry! :guilty:

irish Glad Mom is home! Also glad rain held out for your DD! I know the feeling, my DD had a softball game Thurs night and we felt a few tiny drops before the game ended.

slo Best wishes for that car show! :goodvibes

piglet IF I can make any date, the 22nd would be better. Thanks for your effort! :thumbsup2

Bunchy! When/where is a Wall-E meet? Let me know, please? I hear ya on volunteerism. Great stuff!! BUT, Sometimes more appreciation than what's needed tho, would you agree? :confused: {Poor Tony! LOL That's what he gets!:goodvibes }

I too was fully busy today, except at work LOL. I ended up getting ready, taking DD to school, discussing walk-a-thon with other organizers, go to work for 4 hours, go to DFIL's after that, and then for groceries, and then a HAIRCUT ( like irish ;) )! I needed one SO BAD! Wanted to get highlights too but, they were busy. Then, made a quick frozen pizzas dinner while I prepped for this evening. Kelly had a musical at school she was performing in. Got everything done ok but, after I got to school, I realized I invited my niece to the show, but didn't pick her up! Can you FEEL my stress?! :scared: Thankfully, sorta, DS was still at home getting ready and, altho running late himself, agreed to pick up my DN who, on 10 minutes notice, was ready for pick up! They missed 1/2 the show, but got to see Kelly's parts. ;)

If I'M losing it, what is Kelly going through? :confused3 We need to wind down I think. I'm too old for this schedule! Next week, she's got 6 out of 7 days with 'stuff'. Including a Mother's Day choir performance and the CUBS game after that! THAT'S my winding down/present, I guess. ;) Saturday is a double-day also.

It's only Friday night/Saturday morning and I'm already drained about next week! :scared:

I could go on, unfortunately, but I will instead apologize for dumping! :guilty:

Sorry, and Thanks!

:grouphug: to all!!

IT'S DRY OUTSIDE!!!!!:woohoo: :yay: :cheer2:

You guys have no idea how happy I am that it's not raining!!
I am really praying for this to be a successful day :wizard:
Thanks to all here that are wishing that to for me!!! :grouphug:

Our dinner last night at Horseshoe Casino was just wonderful!!! :goodvibes
They treated us like Kings and Queens - very good service!!!
If any of you ever want to try this restaurant, I really recommend it :thumbsup2

Mac - Did the Tag Fairy change that on their own, or did you request the change? I don't think anyone else on the DIS has anything like that in there tag - so cool!!!!! :)

MMFan - Was your son able to get his game in last night?

paint - You had a really busy day too ::yes:: How did your final go yesterday?

DG - I agree, this has been a very long week ::yes::

piglet - I need to talk to Kevin to see if we have anything going on these dates. There are so many times that he may know of something, that I have forgotten about. I'll get back to you!!!!:)

Bunchkin - Sounds like you had a very nice time at both schools yesterday:goodvibes Was the luncheon at Laurens school to thank volunteers (I ask because you mentioned about Tony volunteering). Stephanie's school is having something like this next week, and it sounds really nice. I"m not going though, because I can't leave the shop, but if I could, I would go ::yes::

ID - You are so lucky that your younger kids were able to have a sleep over so they don't have to get up so early today - I wish my girls could have done that last night too. But my mom teaches puppy class early this morning, so she couldn't, and I don't know why Kevin's mom couldn't  . So the girls have to get up super early to come with us to set up, and then Kevin is taking them back to my friend Jennifers office, for her to watch them, and then my mom is going to pick them up from her office, or my store if Jennifer has to leave, (she is in the car show too). I just love my mom, she helps me out so so much!!!!! :goodvibes

Kim - You had a very very filled day yesterday too ::yes:: Try to have some relaxing time this weekend - it'll be good for you ::yes:: I need to take my advice I gave you, because I took a stress test online, and it said that I'm a candidate for heart disease becuase I'm to stressed out  We (you and I) need to do a little chilling out before we :faint:

Well, I gotta go get ready for my day :car:
Have a good day everyone!!!

Good morning! It looks nice and sunny but a little chilly.

Kim I hope you are able to find time this weekend to relax. Yesterday sounded very busy.

Bunchy Glad you and Tony were able to go to the school activities. Now that Alex is in Middle school they don't do that stuff anymore I miss it.

Piglet Which Ed's are you thinking?

Ok I need to do some laundry before I have to go to work. Oh the excitment.;)

good saturday morning chicagoland homies.

i feel asleep on the couch last night around 7:30.
woke up during the middle of the night and went to my bed then.

still tired..............

looks like it is about to start pouring rain again here.

slo, to answer your question, no i did not make any request to change my fat chubby no neck bald hula girl swaying in the wind to become a red head human.

but, i love that one too and grateful to the holy one :worship: for that. the tag fairy was the one that changed my tag.

i think what happened was a few posters on another thread were making fun of me and posting how my tag was a smilie mop cleaning the floor.
i replied to them that i would take any smile given to me. it didn't matter cause i thought it was still kewl and still a hula girl.

need to get some errands done now.
catch you homies later..

Morning!!

I ended staying up late last night baking for the Girl Scout spaghetti dinner /bake sale today. I made cookie brownie bars, chocolate chunk cookies. peanut butter cup cookies and oatmeal cookies. Then I needed to package them all up into individual servings into sandwich bags and then add labels that showed what troop #, what the product was and how much it costs to buy.
Last night I also got asked to help work with the girls in serving the crowds. Each troop has to work for 1 hour during the sale. Should be lots of fun!

DD just showed me that one of her new pair of shorts we bought her at the Gap outlet in Aurora has a stain on it!!! ARGH!!!!! It was already on them since she hasn't worn them yet. I don't know how I missed that!!! :sad2: Now I have to drive up there again to exchange them!!!!
I swear that every shopping trip I make I end up buying something that needs to be returned!!!!!!!!!!!! :headache:

slo Have lots of fun today at the car show!! Hope you drum up a lot of new business!!! Is Kevin bringing his Indy car there?
Both kid's schools where thanking all the volunteers who have helped out at the school. We got an invite for both events. And Tony has helped out in Lauren's class before....making candles like the pioneers did!!! I was supposed to go that day but I was sick.

Kim Chill woman!!!! Relax!!! :goodvibes
I haven't started a thread yet for the meet, but I think I will in the next couple weeks. The movie doesn't open till the end of June.
I haven't thought of an exact location yet. But maybe we could have it in the same place as the Cars meet, Yorktown Mall. That place seems like a central location for everyone in the Chicagoland area. If you have any suggestions PLEASE let me know!!! :goodvibes :thumbsup2
And about the volunterring.....we really did not need such a big production and all the food. Just a note saying thanks would have sufficed! :thumbsup2

irishdancer I'll make a meet thread on the meet board soon and I'll put a link here for it so no one misses it!!! :thumbsup2
Hope the meet goes well!!

piglet AAAAHHH!!!....the prom crowds!!!! Let's hope you bring a bag full of patience with you to work!!!

Gotta go deliver the baked goods I made!!!!

Have a great day all!!! :wave2:

What an awful day yesterday!!!:guilty:
It was so cold and windy, that it made the day very unenjoyable:guilty: It was so windy, that my American Family friend and I (we were next to each other) had to literally hold the tents down, because they would blow away if we didn't (hers did blow away early in the morning). Finally by 11:30am it started spitting rain, and Kevin and I decided to take my tent down, and put away everything in it. He told me to go walk around and hand out my coupons while he packed up the car. Then after I came back, I told my AmFam friend that I would mind her tent, so she could go hand out some pens. The car show gave out the awards at 12:30pm and then we were out of there!!!!!!! (they were suppossed to give out awards at 4pm). I came home, got the girls, put Katie down for a nap, and Stephanie and I laid on my bed and cuddled under a blanket - I was so so cold :cold:!!!!!! Kevin was driving to Indy that afternoon, and he said he was going to have it butt warmers on the whole time:rotfl: Yesterday was not nice, not nice at all!!!! :sad2:

HERSEY - There's another Ed Debevics? I didn't know that - where is it? I love that place!!!:)

Mac - That's awesome how the powers that be changed your tag for you w/o you having to ask. We should never underestimate the power of the Tag Fairy!!!:goodvibes

Bunchkin - What a drag that you have to return those shorts:headache: I wish I didn't have to mind the store as much as I do, because I would hitch a ride with you, since I've never been there before.
**Kevin didn't bring his Pace Car to the show, because there was to much threat of rain. He wanted to though, because he LOVES to show it off - it's his baby!!!!

Tigggggeeeerrrnnnnnnnn - Where are you??? Haven't seen you in awhile. If you are lurking, please post so we know everything is okay with you and your family.:)

Well, I gotta run and get some breakfast made
Have a good day today everyone!!!

good sunday morning chicagoland homies.

good to see bunchkin and slo here this morning.

bunchkin, i hate returning things also.
i still have 5 christmas sweaters i never got around to exchanging.
story of my life.

off to church soon.
will have your backs covered for the week.

Slo I thought there was one downtown and the one in lombard? I thought there was one in wheeling but either they closed that one or I was confused.

Too bad your car show wasn't today it looks like it is going to be beautiful.

I think I've returned all my stuff to the store. I found a gift card from Kohl's though that I never used. I forget about those things

Good Morning Everyone!

First off, is anybody else having problems with the smilies... mine aren't worrking?

mike and i went to check out that townhouse again. there was something in my gut saying don't do it so we continued to look. that night we found a place almost in that same area that i like much better. we are taking are parents to see it today. my dad worries that if we buy a townhouse now we won't be able to save any money for our wedding. which i sadly agree with but mike has been wanting to move out of his parents place ever since he moved back from living in the city. so i understand. also, i'm getting frustrated b/c while good intentioned my sister keeps finding something wrong with every place we like. grrr... the whole situation just upsets me and it shouldn't b/c it's supposed to be the happiest time in my life! and would be if we were back in DisneyWorld. ah well, nothing i can do.

slo ~ sorry yesterday was miserable for you! it was crappy weather. at least you got to hand out your cards!

Slo-Sorry the weather was so bad! I was walking around campus after part 2 of my Spanish final and it was windy and cold here, too! By the time I got home I was chilled to the bone. Hopefully you were able to drum up some business!
dgal- I think when you find the right place, you'll know. That's how it happened with us. Our realtor sent us a bunch of listing and one that was just outside of our price range (they always do that!). We saw it and pretty much knew that was it! Dsis- Is she jealous or something? Ds' are complicated- I have 3 younger ones and I am pretty much annoyed with them now, but that's another story...or three!
hersey- I have tons of gcs with a few dollars on them! They used to give you the money back sometimes if it was less than a certain amount.
bunchkin- You forgot to deliver some cookies to me. I am a pb cup fiend, especially this time on the month!

Well, I was supposed to work last night, but dfiance had a friend come to town and I was able to get someone to cover for me. We went to dinner at one of my new fave places. Nice atomosphere, good food, and even better martinis! Then, we went to a bar where a band was playing. They were pretty good and played covers by The Counting Crows, The Fray, PAnic at the Disco. Dfiance and I decided we must be getting old, though- It was so loud! Then, df's friend crashed here. Waiting for him to scram so we can go to breakfast. Not to be mean, but he lingers...
Friday I worked. Iwas rough. One server did not show up and one was "sick" although he had asked off earlier in the week. Suspicious...anyway, we had 4 people for the whole place. It was bad- stressful! Be nice to your servers...you never know the situation! I've really leaned that being a server myself!

Hi guys! Thank goodness the sun is out, wish it was a bit warmer though.

Kim - no need to apologize for dumping, we're here to listen and I think we can all sympathize on crazy schedules. Why do we do that to ourselves?

slo - I totally agree about the crummy weather yesterday. When we got to DDs track meet the sun was out but by the time she was starting her field events it was gray, windy and spitting rain too. She finished her last race and we were out of there. The poor kids were freezing standing out there waiting to start their races.
*There is an Ed Debevics in Yorktown Mall.

Bunchkin - wow, that's a lot of baking. Hmmm, maybe the girls and I will make some cookies this afternoon.
*Yorktown would be great for the meet, I'm not far from there at all.
**Sorry about the shorts, I HATE having to do returns.

mac - thanks for covering for us at church today, DH left for Calif this morning so we didn't make it today.

disneygal - I hope you find a great place. Your DS sounds like my family, they drove DH crazy when we were house shopping ;) .

paint - don't you hate it when realtors do that to you, usually more expensive means nicer and who isn't going to like nicer? :rolleyes1
*Sounds like you had a much better night than if you worked. It was payback for putting up with it on Friday shorthanded.

Well, DH is on his way to Palm Springs, CA for his annual sales convention, he'll be home Thurs night. It will be a long week around here this week :sad1: . The new baggage restrictions will be impacting him on the way back. Changes start tomorrow so he was able to fly with his suitcase and golf clubs today but will have to pay extra on the way back :sad2: . The company will end up paying thank goodness.

Guess I'd better get outside and dig up some of those dandelions that are taking over our lawn  . Will do cookies later.

Have a good day everyone.

Howdy peeps!!!

The spaghetti dinner was such fun, not only to work it but the food was good too! There was a few raffle baskets too. Not sure who won those yet.
The kids were drooling over them...one had a Webkinz in it!!! :)

Been crazy cooking today. Made pasta salad, then Tastefully Simple GoGo Asiago dip, then a spice cake. Then of course I get all that put together and cleaned up and the kitchen all tidy again and here comes the kids wanting lunch! Do they do these things intentionally??? ;)

slo Sorry the weather was not cooperative yesterday! Bummer!!
It would be nice for you to bum a ride to the mall!! :goodvibes We're actually going back next Sunday with my mom so then we can take her to Lou Malnati's for pizza for Mother's Day. She's always wanted to eat there. And we always do something non-traditional for Mother's Day...to avoid the crowds. But I'm thinking that the pizza joint may be packed too!! :)
We'll have to plan a shopping trip in the future. I'm anxious to check out all the other stores I didn't get a chance to go to, like the Dooney and Burke store and Kate Spade. Need a purse!!! :thumbsup2
Tiggerrn probably is out having fun in her new vehicle!!!

paint Hope you were able to get to breakfast....minus one house guest! Younger sisters are such a pain!!! I can totally relate. :sad2: I'd like to sell mine!!! ;)

disneygal Don't stress over the house hunting.
Is your sister finding things wrong construction wise?

macIs it too late to return those sweaters?

Good afternoon all! :goodvibes

The birthday party came off without a hitch. I made a layer cake for the first time and it didn't fall apart, taste awful, or look terrible. DD asked for a My Little Pony theme, and pony stuff for parties was pretty hard to come by surprisingly. I couldn't find a decent topper for the cake so I ended up buying Ponyville toys to decorate with. Worked well.

Bunchkin - that always happens to me, too, except DH is a part of the mess-making. :rotfl: I've been trying to keep things as straightened up as possible so I'm not coming back to a sty.

irish - good luck flying solo. I really dislike when my DH has to go out of town, and I've only got the one DD so far. It's so hard to do everything alone.

paint - I hear you about servers. I worked as a server for several years and because of that I'm really understanding when I go to restaurants. You just never know what sort of drama is going on behind the scenes, and besides, a server who gets really nasty treatment could get terrible, disgusting revenge if they wanted to. :scared1:

disneygal - sorry your sister is being a pain. I have a brother like that - nothing's ever good enough for him. When we found our house I fell in love with it and he was all, "Meh, it's fine, I guess." So I feel your pain. It's really important to get that good vibe when you walk through the door for the first time - if it's not there, keep looking. I hope this new place is the one for you!

mac - five sweaters? Wow, get those returned if you still can - you could have a lot of fun shopping for stuff you really like.

slo - sorry the car show had crummy weather. I was hoping it was going to be a nice day (kinda like today!) yesterday, too, and instead we were all stuck inside for DD's party. With seven less people, though, there was a lot more room.

piglet - a meet sounds like fun! I'm really new here, so like irish, it would be nice to have faces to go with the nicks.

:wave2: to everyone else - I'm trying to type and read fast as I shouldn't even be on the PC. DH is mowing the lawn and I'm supposed to be packing!

I'll see everyone in a week or so - we're off to Disney tomorrow! The car is coming for us at 6 AM (UGH!) so I've got to get everything packed and ready before we go to sleep tonight. I won't even have a pulse until 6:30. :sad2: Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day and a great week - talk to you all soon! :yay:

Good Afternoon.

Just stopping by for a quick hello. Home with sick DD today. Some kind of stomach bug.

I have been so busy with work, kids school etc.

Hope all is well.
