Calling all Chicago DISers #2

OK, back from afternoon out with DOG. Have to share my laugh with you all. Walk went just great. Back home and I decided I would pick up the rest of the winter's worth of poop piles. DH said he picked up 4 shovels full on Sunday. (must have been 4 of the 40):rotfl2: Well, pup decided he would take the afternoon in the great outdoors to enjoy himself. We have a corn field behind our house with a run off water path from a creek beside our house. You see where I am going with this already, don't you?!!
Well, by the time I called Tiggs back from the field after scooping the other 36 shovels full of poop from the backyard (which I must add is quite educational - if any of you have ever wondered what a dog might snack on throughout the long winter months of being couped up indoors with only the childrens toys to taste test)he returned to the porch burried in mud!!!!:scared1: :lmao:
Now, it's too cold out to use the hose outdoors, so:rolleyes1 . I wiped the feet the best I could and proceeded to bring him in and lift him (yes, all 75 pounds of him)into our tub. Thank heavens for the shower head that detaches from above and has a long hose.
So, that was my unscheduled dog bath in my otherwise lovely afternoon.:woohoo:
Becky, your pix are nice of your DD. Good luck with this early rising weekend. I have to work 12 hours both Sat. and Sun. Sunday will not be a nice morning for me here either.

you're home already???

you just left.............

waiting for the trippie and pics

hahaha! Tell me about it! I am soo upset with the idea of a 'minnie trip' we went friday-wednesday and it was just too short. We didn't want to go longer because we have a long trip in Mexico in July and our big trip to DIsney in November, and Sal likes to have some days off sprinkled in throughout the year. This was just really blahhh having to come home so quickly. HOWEVER...it was fun!

Michelle Glad to hear you had a great if not short trip. I cry when I have to come back too.

Tigg You should have come by here and grabbed my two. Just be glad it was only mud Tiggs rolled in :rolleyes1

disneygal922 Welcome

I can't believe I am getting another sore throat. I thought this morning it would go away after drinking a gallon or two of coffee but noo it is still here.

We still have snow and ice here too. I can see some dead grass thrown in:rotfl:

disneygal Glad you figured out how to subscribe!! :thumbsup2

DMM We've had 5 day trips too!! And in my book 5 days is better than 0 days!!! ;) :yay:

Tiggerrn WOW!!! You had a great afternoon, huh?? :rotfl2:
It's not bad enough that the dog can't pick up after himself and you have to, but then while you're doing it he runs off and gets himself muddy!!! :lmao: :rotfl2:
I think we will be going to see Waterhorse in 2 weeks. It is 2 weeks right?
Do you really want to use movie passes on a $2.50 movie? I'd save them for a regular priced show.

Becky My kids are up on their own at the same time 7 days a week, no matter what time they go to bed! I wish they needed to be prodded to wake up. At least that would mean I could sleep in on the weekend!!! They are like walking alarm clocks!!

Time to go check on dinner.

Tonight is meatloaf, mashed potatos, and Tastefully Simple bear bread made garlic bread style. :worship: YUM-O!!!!
Not a low-carb meal night for sure!!!

Hersey I wonder if your sinuses are draining and that is why you have a sore throat. Drink lots of liquids (NOT coffee!! ;) ) and try Advil cold and sinus, or something similar. And stay away from milk. That only makes sore throats/mucus worse!!

Yes Mom! Don't worry about milk, can't stand the stuff.

Becky2005 - I too am trying to forget about daylight savings time. We have Scout Mass this Sunday, girls have to be at church by 8:15a  . We are NOT morning people so this should be fun :lmao: .

DMM - I used to cry when we left WDW too, DH thought I was completely crazy. I've found it is a bit better if you already have another trip planned, now I just get misty eyed. :rolleyes1

Hershey - have you had a strep test? My DSis called yesterday to tell me DNeice (who is DD6s best friend and in the same class) has Scarlet Fever :scared1: . The doc thinks she had strep for the past week, she only recently complained about the throat and wasn't running a fever. Tonight got an email from another classmate that she had the flu last week and still wasn't right but no fever, mom took her and 3 sibs to get a strep test. All 4 came back positive - no fever and no throat complaints :confused3 . Something wierd is definitely going on around here  . It might be worth a check.

Thanks I may have to check that out. I think this is just a reg cold though.

We had a little dusting of snow last night. I thought we were going to get snow yesterday during the day. :confused3

Hope everyone's kid's who are having the ISAT's are surviving. Alex has just a half day today. Who chooses these days. They make no sense.

Well I should be fixing my healty snack and lunch for work.

:surfweb:
It's an early start here today
I have to drive Stephanie to the bus stop, so I can go immediately to a Chamber of Commerce breakfast. The food and talk is always good, but it makes for a long day, because today I have to work till 7pm :faint:

Mac - Mmmmm.... potato soup!!! Love it!!!! :goodvibes

piglet - I'm sorry to hear that your mom needs Chemo:guilty:
I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers that she does okay during her treatment:angel: Please keep us posted on how she is doing.
**How are you feeling today?
I'll send tons of get well PD your way!!! :wizard:

DMM - Welcome home!!!! :goodvibes
I'm glad you had a great time!!! I can hardly wait to see your pictures

disneygal - WELCOME!!!!
Thanks for stopping by - I hope you come by often, we would love to get to know you!!!!! :goodvibes

Bunchkin - I agree, that yesterday did feel like Spring :flower: Katie said to me, "It's kinda hot, but still cold, at the same time." It was so cute how she said it - cracked me up!!!!!
*Thanks for the review of the movie - I'll have to see if Steph wants to see it.
*How do you make that bread garlic style?
Is it on the sheet with the different options, or is this your creation?
Please share, because I love garlic :teeth:

Crissup - :wave2:

Tigggggggggggern - I'm a commando mom too ::yes:: I don't know if the kids are ready to come home, but I know Kevin always is, because I wear him out :rotfl:
**I loved my dogs, but this is the time of year that I don't miss them :sad2: I had several unscheduled baths, because the dogs would come in covered in mud. My Lab wasn't so bad, because he was about 75lbs, but Sampson, my shepherd, was 130lbs, and trying to get him in the tub was always a challenge :faint: He would be 10 now, and I don't miss the mud, but boy, do I miss him. :guilty:

Becky - I watched some of those videos, and your DD is really good!!!! :) Stephanie was in intermediate gymnastics, before I pulled her out before Christmas, and they never looked at a vault. I wonder if they do this at her gym. She'll go back someday, and maybe I'll find out then.

HERSEY - I'm sorry you're not feeling well :guilty: I'll send some get well PD your way too :wizard:

irish dancer - :wave2:

Well, I gotta run and get ready for this breakfast
Have a good day everyone!!!

Morning! Hersey, that stinks about the sore throat! :sad2:

Argg...Getting back on schedule is no no no fun! hahaha!! My cable guy cancelled for yesterday, so here I wait for him to come today! I am finally ditching the slow dial-up! It came time to speed up the internet for business purposes! I finally cleared 300 sales online and offline and wholesale are a rockin'! And it's only getting better!

I am finding that if I throw myself 100% into our other 2 trips this year it is helping some. I can't believe how sad I am about this one though. I usually come back sad, shedding tears and whining about wanting to go back, but for some reason this one is a bit different. Crazy!! :sad2:

Bunchkin, Meatloaf sounds fabulous! Tonite it's Asian Stir Fry over a bed of white rice.

Have a good one everybody!!

Tiggerrn[/b] WOW!!! You had a great afternoon, huh?? :rotfl2:

:

Bunchy, the passes I have are just for the Frosty Fliks. Came with a gift card for other movie passes. It's a 2 for Free pass. So the 3 of us could go to that movie for $2.50.
It is March 15th.
This coming Saturday is The Golden Compass. I have to work this weekend.

Hersey, go get that throat checked out. I needed antibiotics. Stubborn hubby is trying to tough it out. He's such a goof. Doesn't want to go see his doc because he knows he will get in trouble since he hasn't gone for his 6 month check-up. He is diabetic and is supposed to go every 6 months for labs. He is so bad.

I really need to put all the :laundy: away. Why is it that I have no problem with washing, drying or folding, but when it comes to putting it away, I have a block!!! I have 2 heaping baskets of clean, folded clothes that need to get put into drawers. DH was having trouble finding socks this am. I said, go check the basket.:rolleyes1

OK, well, I need to get a move on. Well again, so no more excuses. Back to the work out place I need to go. And I need to vacuum the dog hair from the van. (Not sure why to bother, dog loves to go for rides and he is shedding like mad)

Later all.

Poor DS lost his tooth while eating last night!! (no, the meatloaf wasn't that bad!! :rotfl: )
He was in so much pain when it happened and we thought he swallowed it but he didn't!
This is his 2nd tooth lost in just a couple weeks!! And his 1st big tooth is already coming in! :teeth:

slo The garlic recipe is on the hand out sheet. And it's on their web site in various forms. Like for example, I used Sprite this time instead of beer. Lauren really does not like the taste of it when I use beer. The other time I made the bread with Coke and added garlic/garlic and bacon/bacon and a bit of season salt.
So last night's recipe was one bag of beer bread, 12oz of Sprite, 2 tbls of garlic/garlic and a dash of season salt. Melted butter on top and a couple little shakes of garlic/garlic on top. And I under baked it by 5 minutes because I find that the outer crust gets too dark brown for our tastes if I let it bake for 50 minutes.

Hope the breakfast was good. I used to have to go to those kind of lunches for my boss out in Vegas. I hated going!!!

Tiggerrn Well, those movie passes sound good!! :thumbsup2
Yeah, we plan on seeing Waterhorse.
But not Golden Compass! I can't get passed what the book (and author) is really about to let myself go see the movie. :sad2:
You got to take a stand somewhere I guess. ;)
My DH is just as bad getting to the doctor!!

DMM Asian stir fry sounds good, but I'm the only one here who would eat it! I live with people who have boring taste buds!!

Time to boogie!!!
Bye y'all!!!

Hey, you are doing better than me. At least you fold it. Mine usually sits in the dryer until another load needs to go in there & then I don't have time to fold the dried clothes, so they get tossed into the basket that sits in the laundry room and we end up with a mountain of clean clothes. :lmao: I'm actually working on getting that mountain to a molehill today BUT.....it never ends and I'll have a mountain again before too long.

My kids favorite way to have the Beer Bread is with Mt. Dew and cinnamon chips.

Still running a fever and having chills today. I am off to bed soon to rest before work. I really wish adults had to live up to the fever = no school rule. I know I should call off, but don't want to risk my job either.

Hi, I am not from chicago but around the corner in MI. I was just in chicago last week with my son for an HS orchestra trip. We saw Wicked and CSO and some other stuff, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good website, for hotels and theater tickets. I would love to take the whole family this summer so my girls could see Wicked too. Any suggestions would be appreciated. My children are 16DS, 13DD and 7DD. Thank you!!!

i usually do the same things in town so haven't ventured out much more than that.
