And was told that rumors have been flying for years that pool hopping would end but that no plans have been made to end hopping. They said hopping has been restricted at SAB due to its popularity and that no hopping is allowed at AKL but hopping is definatly allowed by DVC members while onsite using points. He said he'd pass along my comments about keeping the benifit and that I could follow them up with an email to MS, which I did. If I got singled out to get the boot from a pool I hopped to, I'd insist to speak to the GM and have others ID'd to see if they belong before I left......spruce

I suspect the person you talked to has about as much control, and less knowledge of the PH than you and I do. I'd definitely not use that "as my f inal answer".

OK, so who does have the final say? There's so much confusion over this. You'd think DVC would want to get right. I'd like to pool hop for our first visit, but I'm afraid to. I would be so embarrassed to be asked to leave. I hate having attention drawn to myself.

As near as I can tell, the official policy is that you're supposed to check they day you want to pool hop. Apparently the distination resort has the final say. Current interpretation would suggest that they could actually close the pool while you're on the way over. Unless they come out with a formalized and binding written interpretation, it will be hit and miss for a while. I think the only way to be certain you won't be invited to leave is to not PH. Hopefully some sort of more specific policy can be implemented soon but I fear that it will not be what the members want. I suspect there will be major restrictions and that eventually the program will cease. My guess is that it will cease around the time that BCV is in full swing. I hope it holds out at least until a full year as I have a bet with another member that it would still be in effect in some capacity for a full year or after, don't want to lose my bet.

There is a post over on the resorts board today about someone at the Poly over Easter. I guess the pool was packed and the poster noted that there were people arriving in street clothes, changing in the bathroom and the changing back into street clothes after swimming. Why wouldn't Disney want to check EVERYONE'S ID at EVERY pool? I understand that in the light of all the layoffs, it would take an additional CM that they probably don't have to do this. However, there are CM's around the pool area all the time: renting equipment, food service, etc. It seems like checking ID's would be the quickest, easiest solution to this mess.
