Called about room only codes anyone can use...

That is what I am confused on. The day I arrive there would depend on the check in time and how long they take. Last year we were there at 10 and got our room within 20 minutes. The last day I am there we never get to use the pass because we leave early. However, we do take 2 days and go elsewhere so we are not in the parks for the full amount of time. But what I found strange was that when I tried to look up the room only on the disney website it was still better for me to get the 7 for 5 deal. Now if general public codes come out for Oct for room only what percentage is that , maybe I can figure it out that way. So I would book 7 nights for room only and get a 5 day park hopper pass ? DO you think that would be cheaper IF that was to happen.

Boy that sounds confusing huh? Sorry bout that:rolleyes:

If you don't use all 8 days of your UPH you really aren't 'wasting' them because they are good forever. So basically with this package you are getting your arrival day and your departure day free, and if you don't use them, you can use them the next time you come back :)

I don't believe that is correct. I believe UPHs expire on midnight of your last day. Unlike regular park hopper passes which never expire, UPHs expire at the end of your stay

I a sure UPH passes are attached to your reservation and only good for that visit. If you buy PH passes they never expire.

Correct. UPHs expire at midnight on the day you check out of the resort, so if they aren't used, they are wasted.

That is not correct. The UPH (used to be called length of stay) passes are good from the time you check in to midnight on the night you check out. After that time the passes are worthless.

Odds are the room only code that is coming out soon, according to a conversation I had with a CM last night, will give you a rate that will make getting it and a 7 day PH about the same as the 7 for 5. Getting a 5 day PHP might work out even better.

I did not get any details on the room only so I don't know if there is a minimum stay or what the rates will actually be.

I wouldn't stress about booking a 7 for 5 yet. The room only code is supposed to be out soon, and if it isn't you still have plenty of time to get the 7 for 5.

WOW! Thank you so much for correcting me. I was under the assumption that the UPH had the same stipulations as the PH and the PHP. Glad I haven't booked my package yet- it's still on hold :)

CharlesandCamilla,

You'll be at DW around the same time we'll be there. After reading the other posts in this thread about it being a long shot to hope for summer room only codes, I almost decided to cancel FW cabins and change to CBR. I sure hope the CM I spoke to knew what he was talking about when he said the codes would be coming out soon, but now I'm not so sure. I called again yesterday and the CM I spoke to this time said she had no idea and wouldn't know until we do.

I think we've just decided to stick with the cabin even if we don't get the code but it would be oh so nice to get one!::yes::

Thank you so much for the tip about betterbidding.com I now see how you can tell which hotel/resort it is. I'm very curious as to when you are travelling that you got the Dolphin for $92/night! I have put in numerous dates and the lowest it has given me was $209. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to stay there on my next trip (haven't even gone on this one yet and I am already planning ;) )

Karen,
We have the Dolphin booked for July 3rd and July 4th. I booked it back in February, and could have gotten it for as low as $88, but I waited because I was nervous, then finally jumped on the $92. Sometimes the price changes multiple times a day, and goes lower on Mondays. Keep trying, you still may get lucky. I guess maybe the chances of getting a lower price are better farther out though. Good luck!:wave2:

The best thing to do so you wont "waste" money is:

Example: check in on a monday (pre)
t, w, t, f (till midnight) is package w/ UPH
friday night is (post)
check out is Saturday

what this means is monday is room only, package starts on Tuesday through friday using the UPH and friday night is room only, then check out on saturday. This way you are not paying for something your not going to use.

I have my package with silver booked like this.

That's how I'd do it if I couldn't get the flights I did. I will be at MK the day we get there and the day we leave.

Tina, the CM I spoke to last night talked as if the room only codes were iminent. For those of you waiting for them I hope they come out soon.

Usually the room only codes are pretty good, I have used them several times. I have the AP rate right now, it is only $1 more per night than I paid for the last several years. I don't see how the room only code with the 7 day PHP comes out the same as the package, I have priced it every way and the room only (if it is comparable with the AP rate which it usually is) comes out much cheaper.

tks Hulabird for the info. I think that's why alot of us are anxiously awaiting word on the room-only codes. Our ressies have been made for over 10 months now and our PH tickets have also already been purchased but we would surely jump for joy at snagging a room-only code that would allow us to upgrade to a different resort.

Called at 8:35 EST; no new room only codes (only AP and FLA/Disney Visa discount thru 8/28)....the wait goes on!

AND ON! AND ON! AND ON!

catnik, your time appears to be running out real fast! Hope for those codes real soon::yes::

I originally had a ressie in May for the FW cabins, some of it on the BBY code, and the rest rack rate. Believe me, I tried for a month or more to get the full stay at the code for anyone to use...lots of mornings up early on the phone begging for a discount! We realized we would have to change our travel dates due to cheerleader camp for my 16 y/o. We decided to go in June, and I decided to buy an AP. I called to see what the rate and any availibility for the cabins would be, and could not believe what I was able to accomplish with one phone call. I scored a great AP rate for the cabins, MUCH BETTER than the regular discount code (IMO), and decided then the AP is the way to go. I think if there is any way you will be there 8 nights or so, it is definitely worth the cost of the AP. It was only $100 more than the price I paid for my 7d PHP.

Would that be an option for you? If I hadn't discovered these boards, I would still be paying rack rate!:D

I'm not sure how all this works.......
Where do you find the Room Only Codes? We'll be there in Nov. and I haven't even made our reservations yet. Should I do this, or wait for codes? Will the codes go thru November?
We're also not sure where to stay, we're a family of 5, 3dd, 13,11,8. We can't go to the parks everyday(we're surpose to be there on business)(a nice excuse for us to take the girls to WDW). Anyway, Which Resorts can we fit 5 in 1 room?

Sorry about all the questions, Just need help planning this one !
Thanks So Much

Maxine,

This year that isn't an option for us because we aren't doing any Disney parks this year, only universal/ioa. We were going to do both Disney and US but we got such a great deal on 5day/2park tickets we just decided to get those and try something new this year (we've never been to US before).
Next year I will definitely consider buying the AP. Sounds like you got a great rate!:D

Minnee,

You can check for room only codes on www.mousesavers.com. You can go ahead and book your room as soon as you know your dates to make sure you get the hotel and times you want, and then call and apply the code when it comes out. I'm pretty sure they always put out room only codes for November. About rooms that fit five, we are staying in a Fort Wilderness cabin because they can sleep up to six (we're a family of five too). I think you can also get a room at Port Orleans resort that sleeps five and I'm not sure of the others. I believe some of the deluxe resorts also have rooms that sleep five for more $$$$ of course. :earsboy: HTH!
