Has anyone else experienced this? Our guide called out of the blue today and questioned my wife about our recent purchase of points from TTS. He stated that we must not have received the recent DVC promotion offers. We had, but the price we paid really was better even after closing costs are factored in. DW said he wasn't rude , it just took her by suprise and she said she feels kind of bad about not calling him first. he also asked that if we purchase again would we call him first. I will, but sometimes when a good deal pops up you have to act fast or lose out, right? :confused3 So now instead of :cloud9: we're more like cloud 7 or 8.

He's just being a good salesperson. Don't worry about it and go back to cloud nine. You got a good deal, money is money. So you would have felt better when paying more money than you had to? Forget it and do what you said if you feel bad....next time call him and tell him what's the best he can do for you and if he can't act fast enough, go back to TTS.

Most importantly.....enjoy your new points!

It is all about relationships with the guest/customer. I suspect he wanted to reach out to reconnect.

Feel good about your purchase -- it means more magical moments at WDW :)

You should be proud of yourself, not only did you save some money on your purchase, you also helped a fellow DVC'er! One never knows what the future will bring. If you should have to sell for some reason, you better hope someone like yourself is standing by to take it off your hands. Your guide sure won't be any help to you then!

We really do appreciate your doing business with us!

Sincerely,
Tom & Staff :thumbsup2

At first, I might be a bit annoyed by this type of call, but I think it really is a sign of good salesmanship.

He would have been a better salesperson if he kept in touch with you before you went off the farm!

Our initial purchase was a resale from TTS. The contract was what we wanted (OKW, Banked points and less than Disney). We have since added on twice through our Disney DVC guide. We have had GREAT experiences both ways. We have seen our guide a couple times and have talked on the phone with her several times. No regrets on ANY of our purchases! You have to do what is right for YOU!

I was okay with this guy's call until this part. If you find an attractive resale and want to buy it, he wants you to call him first? Why....so he can bad mouth resale purchases? Certainly not because he can negotiate with you and meet the resale offer with whatever he's selling.

To give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he just wants to be sure that you have all the facts on buying SSR through Disney vs another resort via resale (12 more years, closing costs, current offers, etc).

I wouldn't feel bad about not calling him before you bought. We bought one contract through Disney and the other via resale and I never considered calling my guide to let him know I was about to buy a resale contract. Just didn't even occur to me. :confused3

I gotta believe anyone informed enough to go the resale route understands the +/-'s of buying SSR direct from DVC. I speak to my "guide" when I need him and could care less otherwise. Must be short of prospects these days - hows SSR selling anyway? Between this (discourage resale) and the closing costs (discourage small contract purchases) you have to wonder.

Never had a call after our TTS resale. The same guide we toured with last May is on all the literature received. She never even called for a follow up after our tour which I thought was unusual.

Never had a call from our guide after any one of our 3 resale purchases. In fact, she rarely returns our call, period. Amazing the difference of personal contact within the guides.

Yes, the sales people sound like they are avriable. I called Disney and I mentioned a DVC owner that had "sold" me on it. So, the lady on the phone looked him up and said "This is the guide, but he is out of town this week"
I just wanted some questions answered..like financing and what specials they were offering for SSR(to decide whether to buy resale OKW or not)
Anyways, she did plug me thru to someone who was about as helpful as a wet rag...not a warm fuzzy person. did not volunteer any info.
They did take my info and that guide had called me back the next week(left a message on my machine), but by then I had already made an offer for a resale.
Interestingly enough during that time frame I had called Disney again to clarify a few things and I actually said to the phone woman"pretend I have money in hand and want to BUY today" she gave me a guide and that guide was very helpful and informative. I was still happy with my choice to go resale
Hopefully, when all is said and done I still will be!

I admit tho as sales people they weren't very aggressive at all. Hope they don't work on commissions.
