Cabin question on deck 2 on the Wonder

I have booked aft porthole rooms 2638 and 2640 on the Wonder for March. I have been reading horrible stories about noise from the engine and thrusters. Just about every review says to stay away from these rooms. Has anyone here stayed in these rooms or close to them that could give me advice?

The only rooms that are still available on this cruise is inside rooms. Rooms 2103 and 2105 deluxe inside rooms and are between midship and aft elevators. There are also standard inside rooms that are available forward deck 5 (5509, 5513 which are sideways cabins) and deck 6 (6541 and 6543). There are 4 of us in one room (2 adults and 2 kids) so I was worried that the standard inside would be too small.

Could anyone help me with this? I'm starting to panic now b/c there aren't that many rooms left. I booked this cruise last summer and my travel agent picked the rooms so I thought I was ok, but it looks like I'm not!

No personal experiences with those rooms, but can tell you our experience with mid-ship interior Deck 2 Wonder cabin 2071. This was last year, after refurb but when Edge was still on Deck 2and shared a wall with this cabin. We travelled 2A, 2C (one was an older teen) in this room on an 11-night warm/cold (Denmark, Norway,Iceland, Scotland, England) cruise requiring a large variety of clothes, shoes (hiking boots too) for everyone. We had enough room for all our clothes, shoes, etc. We never tripped over each other either as we were basically in our room to shower, sleep type activities.

We've only been on deck 2 on both the Wonder and the Magic. In rooms from forward starboard side to aft port side.

I'd take any of those rooms again. Especially over an inside room - gotta have my porthole.

The noise that is usually associated with the aft rooms is mostly due to the docking procedures, and that's usually in the mornings of port days. Chances are you're going to be up already, getting ready for the day, and the noise won't be an issue.

Again, just my experience.

If you hit rough seas, you will have the vibrations, but really, anywhere aft, you will feel vibrations. I felt it really bad in Animators Palate. The other time is docking, and we felt it (when we were awake) mid ship, deck 2. I would just keep your rooms. Deck 2 is my favorite deck.

don't give up the porthole. I stay mid ship on deck two and have not had any issues on the Magic or the Wonder (probably about 100 nights on these sister ships).

One time I was more aft than usual - but farther forward than you are - between 2590 and 2600. There was some additional noises in this room than there were mid ship, but I would not hesitate to stay here again.

One thing that I Hate/Love about cruising. I love being away and I sleep better on the ship than just about anywhere else - which I love!!! And that's with the "rocking and rolling", ships noise, hallway noise (depending upon your ship mates this can / will be much worse than the ship noises / vibrations!!) But I hate the fact that I could sleep my cruise away while at sea very easily - without even trying to stay in bed!!

We had cabins 2638 & 2640 on the Wonder this past November. Overall both our rooms were good. It's really easy and fast to get from the rooms to Tiana's, Animator's, Cabanas and deck 1 for disembarking at ports. Your life boat station will be Q and is located in Animator's Palette. The vibration at night cruising between ports was noticeable but we were able to sleep through it. The sound and vibration during docking was a different story. Everyone in both rooms woke up on days we docked early. So unless you guys are really sound sleepers expect to be up when the ship docks. For a little more info about deck 2 rooms on the Wonder check out the thread I started a couple weeks ago http://www.disboards.com/threads/disney-wonder-deck-2-engine-vibration.3565081/#post-56852865
