C25K! Anyone else in?

That's awesome! If you don't mind me asking, why did you decide to repeat w7?

I got through days 1 and 2 last week, but then went on a guys golf trip to Myrtle Beach. Lots of golf (and lots of beverages) later, I was in no shape to run. Had to start over this week.

Okay, thanks for the responses!

It was only my left hip and it just started, but I've also not been doing much weight training or other exercise besides running because of school so that may be the problem. I'll have to start up on that again. I'm running tomorrow and it doesn't get too bad until the end of my run so I guess I'll see what happens. Also, I use a treadmill we bought for christmas. I don't have any other way to run besides outside which I'll have to do slowly because I know it's harder than the treadmill.

Ot: just watched The Princess and the Frog for the first time. Loved it!

W2D1 of C210K done!

3.96 miles in 55 minutes. Improved my speed AND stamina today. I wonder how much of that had to do with a 2pm run rather than 6:30pm???

Good work everyone :goodvibes I actually cut my times this week. I had some issues and it was very freeing knowing I only had to run 25 min if I wanted to. LOL. I am glad I did graduate though. That last 5 min was killing me and I am still quite a bit overweight. I still had good times and great weight loss with the decrease so I am going with whatever I feel and will gradually work on my distance after my vacation. I am just so impressed with the program and the results everyone has.

My first week (ha ha I sound like such a pro - I'm on my second week now!) my thighs HURT - like hurt to get up and down in the bathroom hurt! But now all is better and stronger.:goodvibes
:rotfl:You are a pro if you're on your second week! Nice job jenn. Hope you're daughter is feeling better, and you're able to get out.

I am going to finish week three tonight after work. It's been quiet at work, so if I can sneak out a little early, I'll be able to run before I pick up my son. If not, he has his scooter in the car so he'll scoot around me. It's just harder with him there because he tries to talk to me when I can't breathe. :rotfl:

Good job, wildfan1473 on starting week 3. Each week, I can't imagine running any longer, but then I try it and I do it. I guess that's why this program works, it's such a gradual increase and your body is ready to be pushed a little more every week.

I feel like I've been MIA the past two weeks (probably because I have :rolleyes1 )! So many new people. :cool1:

Since I only ran once in the past two weeks (not feeling well and family visiting), I decided to start week 6 over. My brain was telling me I wasn't ready to jump in and do a 25 minute run so I listened to it. :sad2: I think I might have been able to do it, but oh well. W6D1 completed - again.

I did 3.7 miles today (walked a little of that in the middle) but it was 51.34 min. I seem to slow down the further I go. :confused3 I cant beleive I went that far though. How exciting.

My DH has been out of town yesterday (until late at night) and again today. I have a 4 yo so I can't run outside and don't have a treadmill. Now I am sick too. I still have my bladder infection and now I have a sore throat/sinus thing going on.

I have a plan to start back up Saturday on my W2D2 and do every other day until I get caught back up.

I think I will have to join a gym soon. I know my DH will be going out of town for a few days soon and again later for at least a few weeks. I have never been in a gym. :scared1: There is one down the way that is around $20 a month which sounds like a good deal.

Up 'til today I've been running on a TM. I thought I was doing well when I did 2.75 miles on Wednesday.

But today I went outside for the first time and ran on a very flat trail by my house. I could barely do 1 mile before I had to stop!:sad1: I was sucking wind and my legs were revolting. I feel like I'm back at square one.

I knew it was going to be harder than the treadmill, but I had hoped to run 2 miles. I was feeling so good about my progress. Well, back at it Monday and I have to adjust my expectations.

You should be! LOL Just keep at it, it does get easier and it makes the running easier too.

Holy cow, that was tough!! I'm using 6 lb weights, so that might be the problem.

Tomorrow is W2D2 run along the Hudson River. Eeeek!

You know what I bet happened? You probably ran faster than you normally do on the treadmill. Do you have something to tell you how fast you're going? I'm sure when you got outside you probably didn't even realize you were pushing yourself harder than you normally do on the treadmill. Don't let it get you down! Just try going slower next time. :goodvibes

Don't feel too badly. I post a lot on the couch to 5K page on facebook, and a lot of people are set WAAYYY back when they transition. Hang in there, it will get easier.

I just finished w7d2. For those of you in the earlier weeks, I promise it is doable. It killed me to run 1 minute, and now the 25minutes (1 month later, since I do it every other day) are a lot easier than I ever thought. Including cool down and warm up - 3 miles in 38 minutes!

WORD OF ADVICE! Never EVER eat a large portion of cajun mix (seeds, nuts, sesame sticks) and then go run. I got back in the house, and vomited like crazy. I still feel strange, but at least I feel better!

Kathy you're awesome!!!

Lisa great job on starting!!! My first week (ha ha I sound like such a pro - I'm on my second week now!) my thighs HURT - like hurt to get up and down in the bathroom hurt! But now all is better and stronger.:goodvibes

I'm going to do w2d1 tomorrow...I don't like running in our neighborhood, and dd was sick today so I didn't want to go the park and leave her. Will do it tomorrow!

Thanks, jenn! :goodvibes You're in week 2, that makes you a pro in my book! :thumbsup2 I hate that things hurt when you go to the bathroom feeling -- ouch! :rotfl2: I've been doing an Advil/Aleve rotation like I do at WDW to keep my PF away. It is working for the C25K so far. Various parts are a little sore but I can keep on with no problem and no PF problems which is a BIG plus in my book.

:lmao:I did w5d1 today. It went pretty well. Which is good because some form of insanity caused me to register for the 2011 Disney Half-Marathon. I'd better get thru this C25K program quickly! :rotfl2:

I think that sickness is catching because I am thinking about signing up for a half marathon next year too! :scared1:

I see on the events board they are putting together a new WISH team -- I think it might be a sign from the heavens . . . :hippie:

Liz, I am so sorry about your beloved pooch and so impressed that you continued with your training in spite of your grief.

Isn't it fun to do things that we never thought we could do?!? :woohoo:

You might want to see if you can get a monthly pass to try out the gym. It might be a little more expensive in the short term but that way you aren't committed to anything long term if you don't like that gym.

Lisaa-DH has PF, too. He's really overweight, and trying to start walking, but his foot is really bothering him. Any advice???

I was also thinking that you probably ran faster outside than on the treadmill. I went outside for the first time on Thursday, and I knew that I would tend to go too fast, so I kept focusing on keeping the pace down. (I think I actually went a little slower than I had been on the treadmill because I did slightly less distance in the same time frame).

Whether you did run more quickly or not, don't be discouraged. You will make the transition and you'll be back to a higher distance in no time!

Thanks. Now I feel like I didn't even exert myself, but my legs weren't having it at the time. I'm mad and I want to go back out there tomorrow.

Lisaa-DH has PF, too. He's really overweight, and trying to start walking, but his foot is really bothering him. Any advice???

I had PF for a long, long time. I suffered way longer than I should have -- for about 9 months. I would never put off treatment again. Here is my advice: 1) go to a podiatrist (I went to my family doc -- he took an x-ray, told me I have a heel spur and gave me a cortisone shot in my foot -- I would rather have a baby without an epidural again. :scared1: My podiatrist said he would have never done that. 2) Get orthotics. I got mine from a physical therapist. The physical therapist helped with my PF but it might have been because a cute 20 something guy was rubbing my feet -- that might not impress your DH . . . 3) Don't be afraid to get help because you are overweight. You deserve to be able to walk without pain. I wear really good shoes now because walking without pain is priceless. :thumbsup2

My DH is overweight, too, and he has really gotten into the Alton Brown diet plan. It is a very sensible plan, DH has lost 10 pounds in about the last 30 days. He also had to get a CPAP machine (we both sleep better now). It is hard to watch them struggle but I have to admit that I would not have wanted someone to tell me what to do when I was doing nothing to stop my downward spiral, so I keep my mouth shut -- even when it is really hard. :flower3:

I think that you are doing great with your C25K and weight loss! :thumbsup2
