It seems people are so disappointed with the views they hope for at BWV. If they took away the preferred view and evened out the points so any view was fair game, how would everyone feel?

Don't forget that evening out the points (option 1)would mean the standard views would become more expensive (point-wise) than they are now.

Also, I don't see what the difference is between choices 2 and 3.

Since it was this way before (early in the selling phase), I doubt it's a consideration.

I prefer the standard-view rooms because you pretty much know what you're going to get (a perfectly acceptable view of the front of the resort which often includes a nice view of the Illuminations fireworks). Preferred view is significantly more points plus you're just as likely to get a view of one of the pools as you are getting a Boardwalk view.

Leave things as they are! I will gladly stay 9-nights in a standard-view 1BR unit at BWV for the same number of points (270 during Magic Season) as a 7-day stay in a preferred-view unit (or bank those extra points and have an extra week every couple of years). Under the current system, people staying in the preferred-view units are "subsidizing" my vacations!

I brought this subject up a number of months ago, but my sugguestion was to make it three levels, the current standard and Boardwalk views, but add an inbetween level for the pool/canal views. The link is :http://wdwinfo.infopop.net/OpenTopic/page?q=Y&a=tpc&s=40009993&f=14009194&m=246097111#584097211

90% said that they'd like to see the Boardwalk views split out.

IMHO the option of splitting out BW views is simply not realistic in terms of effectively managing room inventory. As it stands now, there are very view standard view rooms. Thus, there are really only a few realistic scenarios with respect to rooms:

1) Book a std. view room, receive a std. view room.

2) Book a std. view room, but receive a preferred (almost certainly non-BW view room) room--guest is happy!

3) Book a preferred room, get non-BW preferred room--guest may be unhappy, but guest gets room for which they paid for.

4) Book a preferred room, get a BW-view preferred room. Guest is happy.

Under the other scenario, they would need to actually manage the (relatively) few BW view rooms and open the possibility of a guest paying for BW view and not getting it as a result. I understand the sentiment here, and I am not sure I disagree with it, but I just don't think it is feasible or advisable

The only change I would make is to take a few of the 'preferred' rooms (the ones behind JellyRolls) which face directly into the DVC sales courtyard (Not the Luna Pool or Quiet pool ones). Many actually face into the samll building behind the BW

These views are truly substandard - I do not think one should have to accept these as a 'preferred'room .

Otherwise, I think the system is fine.

Someone brought up the idea of having a separate Boardwalk view points category at the annual meeting last December. The DVC directors dismissed it as too difficult to manage. I voted to leave it as is. As a BWV owner, I like having the option of a standard view room with lower points.

I voted to leave things as they are now. A separate increased BW view point rate would further complicate management of room assignments and also add another complication for members in booking reservations.

Three room point rates would mean some members might have to pay more (for BW views) because all of the lower point rooms are already booked. For example, we hear that standard view studios book very fast. With three rates, it might be that non-BW-preferred view studios might be the next to fill up, then finally the BW-preferred. Members who do not want to use the points associated with the BW-preferred view rooms might have to book earlier in the 11 month window to avoid being forced up to the next level. Right now, it appears this is only a factor for members who want to be assured of standard view, except perhaps at the very busiest times of year.

I agree with Pete W - I find the standard views acceptable and consistant. I would disagree with
Doctor P's case that booking a standard view and receiving a "preferred" view would make me happy. We absolutely do not want a Luna pool view. So I'm willing to save points and forgo the chance that I MIGHT get a BW view.

We booked the BWV several times and were not happy at all. Had a pool view once but the bushes were in the way (1st fl), Had big post and high rail another time. So being a normal person I spoke to a lady in CS. She listened to me and told me to call a few nights before our next visit and request the view we wanted. When we returned to our room a few hours later, there was a gift from the resort with a note saying they were sorry. Our experience has been great at the BWV and look forward to our trip this Oct.

I'm not sure people are any more disappointed at the BW than they are with the "parking lot" Magic Kingdom view. The Road View at BCVs. Not being on the lake side at VWL. Not getting a DTD View at SSR, etc. If anything, Disney has been making MORE categories, not fewer.

This conversation is almost 9 years old and therefore we are closing the thread. Thanks all!
