We are going to purchase some bottles of liquor on the cruise and were wondering how do you all transport them when flying? How can we keep the bottles from breaking? Any tips?

Will they ship to our home any bottles we buy onboard? That may be a dumb question....I am not sure how that would work for customs...

Help!

In Grand Cayman, they give you a cardboard carrier to carry your bottles in. Then you carry them on the plane and stow them in the overhead compartments.

same thing in St. Maarten, they have cardboard containers w/handles and they load them up for you. I believe they were sealed with tape and we left them as-is which made for an easy time through customs (not that I've ever had a difficult time)

On our last leg (50 seat small jet), we had the flight attendant from hell and another guy was returning from Hawaii with fresh pineapple. We made jokes about breaking out the pineapple and our coconut flavored rum and making drinks just to annoy her further!

That's funny...

What about the liquor bought onboard the ship?

I do two things (Voice of experience)

I first put the bottles in individual gallon size ziplock bags.

Then I surround them with soft clothing. I've never lsot one yet.

If you really want to make sure they don't break I have one fool-proof system:

Drink 'em!
