Views - I might add - shared by many of you on the extreme right of the political spectrum.

Save your condescending compassion for someone that needs it. Like, perhaps, the tens of thousands of United States military members that have come home either on stretchers or in boxes from your war of choice.

I don't hate the President, Dawn. I hate some (probably most) of the things he has done. Here's a comparison that is probably close to the truth and maybe you can relate to; I feel about, and respect, George Bush exactly the way you felt about, and respected, Bill Clinton when he was in office. Maybe that will give you an idea how I (of course I can't speak for others) feel. I'm sure you don't really "hate" Bill Clinton, so maybe this comparison will make sense to you.

You’re right Dawn. It was sad – about 4 years ago. There are always those who are going to root for the failure of others even if that failure ends up hurting them as well.

But those days are long gone. Bush has failed so often and so consistently, even his worst critics wouldn’t begrudge him the occasional success. In the year 2006 it is just being pragmatic to expect failure out of our President. Maybe that isn’t entirely fair, but Bush has had to work hard to earn this distinction.

No President in recent times (Carter and Nixon included) has failed so spectacularly. It really is mind boggling when you examine Bush’s record. He has made me embarrassed to be a Republican. You know things are bad when William F. Buckley (father of modern American conservatism and editor of the National Review) abandons you.

Goodness knows that Buckley and many other prominent conservatives do not take any pleasure in another Bush failure. But at some point, intellectual honesty forces us to recognize these failures and comment on them objectively. Brutally honest introspection has always one of the core conservative values. I think its time for conservatives to stop protecting their partisan positions and rediscover why this county needs conservative values - now more than ever. We need to stop shrinking away from what is painfully obvious to everyone else. It doesn’t matter what Karl Rove directs Fox News to report. It is never wrong to call a failure by it proper name: failure.

Personally, I hope that our next administration, from whatever party, will clean up the mess that we're in now. I don't see that as wishing for failure of any kind. I'm just looking forward to the day when George W Bush moves to Crawford permanently.

Get a clue. Bush isn't succeeding and he isn't going to succeed because he's a corrupt incompetent. And Bush is an incompetent.

Here's a fresh idea: Maybe you need a theme song. Yanno, FDR had "Happy Days are Here Again". Clinton had "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow. Here's a new theme song for the Republicans: Dusty Springfield's "Wishing and Hoping".

International polls indicate that the war was a "mistake" that has increased world wide terrorism.

Saddam invaded Kuwait and we drove him out. Then we went home which was the correct action. Recently, he has invaded no one and we still attacked. This is another case of apples and oranges IMO.
