They sure did.........based on the information provided by the Bush administration.

You are redefining chutzpa. The old definition of chutzpa was killing your parents and throwing yourself on the mercy of the court because you're an orphan.

The new defintion of chutzpa: voting to authorize the use of force based on information provided by the Bush administration and then when the information is shown to be bogus and you (generic) complain, are then told "but you voted for it".

Nobody wanted to believe their president was a lying *******. Unfortunately, that's exactly what he turned out to be.

Well, I see you've been sufficently brainwashed with the party line

Why? Do all members of your family agree on everything? Mine certainly doesn't.

Unfortunately, if that's true, she was right and he was wrong.

No, I don't have a problem with them having opposite views, and I aqree, family members often disagree, especially when it comes to politics. But lets say, for the sake of argument that I had a child in the military who went to Iraq and became totally disillusioned and adamently against the war (it happens). Imagine if he were KIA, and then I used his death to promote a pro-war agenda with a group like Move America Forward. Perfectly within my rights, as a citizen, to do so, but IMO, it would be incredibly wrong, as a mother, to exploit my child's very death when I knew they held the opposite view.

The problem is that she says (and so do her supporters) she's speaking for her son which clearly isn't true because he reenlisted.

Are you're saying the troops are wrong for wanting to be in Iraq?

I don't know that I've heard her say anywhere that she speaks for her son. Has she really said that?

And unfortunately, I think that's exactly what the ThAnswr is saying....there's no possibility that reasonable people can come up with two different, but equally valid, opinions about this. Our side is wrong, and hers is right. Whatever

:rotfl2: Nope, just someone who is interested in knowing the truth about this charade.

What truth? Are you looking for a bribe or some other type of " you scratch my back, I'll scratch your"? What is this truth you're looking for?

Maybe the truth is in front of your face and you can't accept it because you don't like it.

I didn't talk about what would take place during the meeting. Try reading my post. I said one does not have to be psychic to know how the meeting would be spun by both sides after it was held.

So the spin doctors would go into high gear. So what? That's the world we live in. That's how you fill up 24/7 airtime.

Putin - now THERE's one trustworthy guy.

Hey, don't touch Putin! Bush looked into his eyes and saw deep into his (Putin's) soul.

The funny thing is many people didn't think the head of the KGB even had a soul.

See, I don't believe that. I believe that people of good conscience can hold completely opposite views/beliefs from mine all on their own, and without necessarily being "brainwashed" or "following a party line".

I would, however appreciate the courtesy of the same benefit of the doubt every now and then.

I agree with that too, Buck. And I'll stand corrected, and give ThAnswr the benefit of the doubt that she honestly believes that Bush lied. But IMO, for some percentage of the Democrats, including many in Congress, they don't really think he lied, but they've latched on to that meme as a convenient political slogan.

People can look at the same set of facts and come to completely conclusions. There's nothing wrong with that.

Like minded people can also look at the same set of facts and come to the same conclusion as Al Franken, Ed Schultz, or any other person on the same side of the political aisle. Brainwashing, no.

I agree, but that does go both ways, no? Too often, I see people on both sides pointing at the other side saying "You're drinking the Kool-Aid", "You're following the party line", "You're brainwashed", etc.

If I've said it once, I've said it dozens of time, on these very boards that Bush committed a lie of ommission in letting the American people believe Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11 and was in league with Al Qaeda. Not even Bush could be so out of touch as not to know about the polls that showed a majority of Americans believed it. He knew it wasn't true, but did nothing to change that perception because it suited the administration's purpose. That is called a lie ommission, and a lie of ommission is still a lie.

Bush lied.

Btw, thanks, Brenda.

It's not for me to say whether or not some of the troops (not all) are wrong for wanting to be in Iraq.

But you said she was right and he was wrong. Just what did you mean by that?

FTR, (for anyone using the term "wanting to be in Iraq"), I doubt that ANY of the troops "want" to be there. I think that many, if not most, believe that being there is the right thing to do, but I doubt they want to be there.
