I was going to book a last minute, surprise trip for my DD and I to go to the world. Just a 4 nighter to go to MVMCP and to see the Osbourne lights. I've wanted to do both for a while and a few years ago I promised that the 2 of us would take another trip....just the 2 of us. I knew that it wouldn't be possible to do it next year, so this would be it. Anyway, I have been watching the airfares and they were pretty good. Then they went up and back down again. I couldn't book because I was waiting for something to be resolved which was happening yesterday.

Wouldn't you know it......I finally decide that for sure we can go and didn't the airfares go up over $200. :scared1: So I think that pretty much breaks the trip since there really was no budget for this one. We have plans to go to Mexico for March Break and then WDW for 2 weeks next summer. This had to be uber cheap and would have been were in not for the airfare.

I'm feeling totally bummed right now.....at least my DD didn't know about it. :sad1: Dh says keep looking for a flight but I doubt that it will work because the date that I wanted to leave is only about 3 weeks away.

Aww, that's disappointing, but at least she doesn't know... I agree with your dh, keep looking just in case...

BUF.....I can get tix from YYZ for around $700 which is actually very good but we are used to flying from BUF and paying around $150-$175 per ticket. Since this was a cheapo trip $700 is a no go.

For sure I'll keep looking.

I don't know where your home airport is, but Detroit and Buffalo have great airfare deals. We always fly from Detroit (Toronto and Detroit are about the same distance from us) From YYZ the airfare with taxes is awful. 5 of us fly in January for $900 on AirTran. I signed up to get email offers with Jet Blue, Air Tran, Southwest and Spirit and they are sending out way better deals then what you quoted. I would check the Air Tran website.

We are actually only 30 minutes from YYZ but usually fly from BUF....it's only about 1 hour 20 minutes away. We often fly Airtran but have used SW as well as Jetblue. I'm open to DTW but for this trip it's out. I would be going solo with an 11yo so the 3.5 hour drive doesn't really work for me.

I do regularly get the emails from all the carriers but I'm pretty sure that the problem with this trip is that I left it just a little too late. The $700 that I mentioned is a direct flight from YYZ including all taxes for 2 tickets...that is an excellent fare for YYZ. Unfortunately, it's more than I can spend for this little weekend trip.

How about flying out of Niagara Falls, NY

Direct Air flies to Melbourne, FL (only 1.5 hrs from Disney)

I have a totally transferable "family ties certificate" good for two round trip flights that I have been thinking of selling for $300 (if I am not allowed to mention that here I'm sorry...just delete this post)

Thanks for the offer/idea. Friends of mine also have that certificate so I know what it's all about. I wasn't planning on renting a car. I might look into it though.

Yep, best I see is a little over $310 pp. on Jetblue. Don't know if you'll find any better with less than a month to go.

I just checked Airtran right now.
Arriving in MCO around 7:47PM on your day and leaving at 5:30PM on your day comes to $451.60 USD. Mind you that luggage is extra, but you may be able to get away with 2 carry-ons for the trip.
Hope that helps.

Thank for all the suggestions. I will have to decide if I'm willing to have a stop over and pay more money for it. When I first toyed with the idea of going the air was only $338 for non stop flights. The non stops are now over $600 so the appeal is just not there. I have become really spoiled and maybe lucky with getting cheap flights so now any time I have to pay a higher price I really hate it.

Wow! Are you sure you can't find your way to Detroit Airport?
Just found roundtrip tickets for 2 to Orlando and back (non-stop) for $310.80 US! www.spiritair.com

That is a good deal. Detroit is just to far for me. It's over 3 hours a way. If this was a big family holiday I would consider it but since it's just a little weekend getaway it's to long of a drive.

I love how Dis-ers pitch in to help a "stranger" get to WDW!! I think it is so awesome!!! GL!
