BRUNCH AT THE TOP - 2ND VISIT

Part III
Entrée Selection
We wanted to try a few different items this time around, plus an old favorite. Once again, we ordered three dishes to share, which were happily provided. Any leftovers were boxed to go. (apparently I don't have a photo of all 3 together. The shrimp arrived a little later)
Pan-fried Bell & Evans Organic Chicken Cutlet.....Haricot Verts, Toasted Almonds, Frisee, Buerre Noisette
This was amazing! Hands down, my favorite on the entire menu. It was nothing like I had imagined based on the description. The chef is a genius! If only I could prepare a cutlet like this. OMG!!!
Shrimp and Grits...Gulf White Shrimp with Tillamook Cheddar Grits, Spicy Bacon-Infused Tomato Broth, Espelette-spiced Tomato Ragout
Sadly, this was my least favorite, for reasons I may not do well to explain. There was nothing wrong with this dish at all. Perfectly prepared. Beautifully presented. So please, don't let this stop you from ordering.
But for some reason, it just didn't jive with the overall brunch for me. I think my palette was in full brunch mode at this point and could not switch gears to fully appreciate and enjoy the strength of flavors in a colossal shrimp w/tomato broth so late in the meal. (this was the very last item I tried). My personal feeling is, it does not flow well with the entire menu. It is fresh and not too heavy, and should have paired well with the grits, which are very good. But I really did not care for the dish, and I love all the individual components. IMO something is off here. I'll be curious to hear other reviews.
Grilled Hanger Steak...Two Eggs any style, Chimichurri, Marble Potato Hash, Charred Onion
My DH loves this dish. He ordered the steak medium and eggs over-easy. Excellent as always.
Upon request: Cherrywood Bacon, House Recipe Sausage Patty, and Marble Potato Hash
Last time, we didn't realize this was available, so we made sure to put in a request for the bacon and sausage. As you can see it was a fairly generous helping for 2. The sausage is a house recipe and was delicious, but don't expect a Bob Evans commercial type breakfast sausage. You may be surprised at how different this will be. It's hand made, tender, and seasoned with fresh herbs and ingredients - absent all the commercial byproducts and additives. We loved it!! The bacon was perfect and really good as well. Enjoy!
HOMEMADE DESSERT TRAY
caramel crème; white chocolate orange crème; dark chocolate toffee brittle; lemon madeleines; strawberry jam linzer cookies; and caramel and lemon French macarons.
Get this boxed to go if you can't eat it. It will still be delicious a couple days later. I've never had anything taste this light and fresh.
and that concludes our return visit to Brunch at the Top. Hope everyone enjoys it as much as we do.
