Need help from you fellow NYers.

I need the name of a good hotel in NYC. We would like to stay near Time Square.

We looked at the Ritz and Helmsley near Central Park, but my son had a fit that they look old. We looked at the "W" near Time Square, but it is far to modern for me.

So any help you can give or links would be appreciated. It need to be nice, family friendly and have a view of something besides an alley.:rotfl:

A couple of years ago my mom and I did a Broadway weekend before taking a New England and Canada cruise, we stayed at the Marriott Marquis. It is right in Times Square.

Okay we are officially booked

6 sea days will be a blast :thumbsup2

My sister & I will be onboard - in a CAT 6 - this will be our 6th DCL cruise.

Here is a partial list of cruisers -- we are up to 193 people already with more to come :cool1:

I will keep updating the list - please pm for corrections ...

Gismo1554 - notice that you did the 11-Night Cruise in Sept. We can try something that worked kinda well. On each floor, a type of floor monitor was volunteered. What that person did was place a list on the fish extender, somehow, that listed all the DIS cabins on that floor. If any changes were made then it was the responsiblity of the affected party to make changes to this "master" list in case some got upgraded. I printed out a list prior to the cruise but of course, there's always the instances where someone is upgraded or missed. All the 'floor monitor' agreed to do was have it outside his cabin for others delivering gifts to check against their own list. The volunteers were set up about 2-3 weeks ahead of sailing date and then it was posted - usually works with someone with a confirmed cabin. That way if anyone wants to double check their list - they know where to go.

Good idea! I forgot we did this. Brilliant!

We have stayed at Westin Times Square and can happily recommend that hotel. The Marriot Marquis, right in Times Square also looks very good.

 Hi Holidayfanatic,
On another board I read that TAs are being offered verandah cabins $1,099?If so thats a great deal!
Are you selling many cabins to Brits?
Pleased to hear you enjoyed your Med cruise & look forward to meeting you on the magic,
Sue

Hello again Happyfeet,

Not seen verandah cabins at that price but they are a lot cheaper than normal. The offers we have had are for TAs only and not for the general public. I assume they are trying to raise awareness so that we can recommend to clients in the future.

Look forward to meeting you and all the other DISers on the 18th.

A couple of years ago my mom and I did a Broadway weekend before taking a New England and Canada cruise, we stayed at the Marriott Marquis. It is right in Times Square.

Three years ago my DD and I did a Broadway weekend and also stayed at the marriott marquis. It is a great hotel and perfect location - we never had to take a cab or ride the subway. The hotel is more spacious than the W or other nearby hotels.

We had a great view - no buildings across the street and could see Broadway marquis in one direction and down to a river in the other direction. We could not believe the view for a NYC hotel.

Hi,

I travel to NYC quite a bit and ALWAYS stay at the Marriott Marquis - so like others, I highly recommend it!

Just a bit of warning though - the elevators can be very frustrating during 'rush hour' as they are programmed at central key pads for the floors you need. The kids, however, will love it!

If you are doing any of the Disney shows, you will be located very close to those theaters.

And, in case you are looking for a great steak restaurant, I highly recommend Frankie and Johnny's - it's just down the street from the Marquis - call ahead for reservations, though.

Enjoy!!

We had a great view too! Our room looked right out over Times Square. It was my mom's first visit to NYC and she was absolutely thrilled by the view. One of the shows we saw was "Thoroughly Modern Millie" which was showing right at the Marquis Theatre.

You guys are wonderful. I was hoping to take my DGD (the one coming with me on the cruise) to her first broadway show. She LOVES Mary Poppins and it is playing at the Amsterdam. I am very excited, as I went to a lot of shows growing up. I will check into the hotel. I was hoping for a 2bdr suite. The Waldorf has one, but It is an "old" hotel as well.;)

Hi, This is my first post so I don't know what I am doing, so please bear with me. We will be on the Magic for the Aug. 18th cruise . There will be 2 of us in Cat 8. We would also like to order 2 lanyards. :confused3 Any helpful info on what to do next would be appreciated:love: Thank you:yay:

we saw Mary Poppins last fall...it was good, but not great. We loved Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. I wonder how Tarzan is?

Here is the lanyard.

If there are any new folks wanting a lanyard please let me know. The cost right now is 2.02 plus shipping. So I guess this answers another question. I was planning on shipping them to everyone before we set sail. It will take to week plus shipping time to get them. Right now the ETA should be July 3 or 6.
