We are just back (6/24-6/30) and did notice a lot of TG from Brazil. One day at the AK they were just acting like crazies, running, chanting, line cutting others in line to catch up to their group. pirate: But I have seen many Americans acting the same way too.

Isnt is amazing how we were there the same time and I didn't witness any of that? I guess we were always at the right place at the right time:thumbsup2 But I will agree with you that most of the rude people were Americans and the "me first" mentality with the worst being someone nearly knocking my 67 year old mom over pushing to get into the MK!! Just crazy! We will most likely never go back in the summer, too many people!!!

We were there last January and so were they :sad2::sad1: It was horrible, they were loud, obnoxious, and rude. On a few occasions I had to hold my tongue, and my bride had to pull the yoga/zen thing to make me relax, cause they were p-ing me off. I will stop there....;)

we will be there in july and we will have a few duck calls to blow around them when they start chanting. my wife says it juvenile but i say quack quack...thanks duck commander! :thumbsup2

Then the other people around are stuck listening to two obnoxious noises. Lucky them!

Your wife is a smart woman

Amazing how American school groups have the same rep in other countries. And I stayed at pop one year during cheerleader week. 7:00 am, it began..

We were in the World in the last week of January in both 2009 and 2011. We saw a number of large South American groups. We never had a problem with them and the only reason we noticed them was because they all wore the same outfit and had a leader with a flag. My guess is most people would completely miss them if they didn't have such distinguishing characteristics. My two cents is they are no big deal. In general they are just a bunch kids there to have fun.

We go every year at this time. Lol, the only time we noticed were the flags and lunch line crowds a couple of times. Not rude just a large influx that you didn't want to get behind!

There is a reason why many french hate the americans. Americans are very obnoxious and loud.

We have had encounters with the BTGs on our previous Jan trips. Some were innocuous. Others had me gritting my teeth and fuming. Some groups stood out simply by their identical shirts and the size of the group. Others were impossible to ignore due to their behaviour: line cutting, chanting, pushing, etc. While the chanting definitely seems to set them apart from other 'BIG Tour Groups' I hesitate to paint all Brazillian tour groups with the same brush. The same complaints have been made about Pop Warner kids (and chaperones), cheerleaders (and chaperones), American school groups. You name it, someone's complained about it.

Can they be a problem? Yes. Are they always a problem? No. Our decision has been to avoid them if possible due to their sheer size. If we have a problem we will talk to a CM if possible. If we have a big problem we will either let Guest Relations know about it or write a letter to Disney. And just to head off any flames about complaining in order to 'get something'; No that's not the purpose of the complaint. Letting Disney know that a problem exists is one way to get solutions in place. Like having Disney put their foot down on the chanting business. I still believe that if enough people complain Disney could work with the Tour operators to soften their impact on the rest of the guests. JMO.

I had never heard of the groups before my last trip in late May/early June. When I left the MK on Friday night, most of the crowd was speaking English. When I returned on Saturday morning, all I heard was wall-to-wall Portuguese! It was like I'd stepped through a wormhole!

Aside from that, though, I didn't find them any more disruptive than any group of teens away from home. There was a lot of screaming and line-cutting, but no worse than I'd seen from American school groups at other parks.

We were just there last week June 23 - 30 and saw several tour groups. I know they were from Brazil cause their shirts said so. Anyways I didnt see any bad or rude behavior or even chanting. Yes they were large groups and we avoided being behind them in lines but their behavior was fine. Maybe there has been enough complaints that they have been told to act better:confused3 Also saw a huge group from Puerto Rico one day and they were fine too!:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Thank you for your positive comments regarding my people..

Puertorrican Army wife here..and living all over the USA since 1998..

I think that any time you get a group I teens, even nice ones, you get loud crowd behavior that feeds on itself.

My DH wants one b/c he uses a scooter and people can't hear the little "horn" (which the last couple of times has been a bicycle bell). He doesn't use it consitantly but only to get someone's attention when they are about to walk right into him and he can't get out of their way.

But...I digress...regarding the large groups (Brazilian or whatever) - DH & I were at WDW October 2011 (during the Columbus Day Holiday) and there was a large group. I'm not sure where they were from - couldn't understand their language but they were wearing white & green shirts. We were at MK in the HM line. Two girls (about 16/17 years old) started pushing DH & I because they wanted to get in front of us (apparently they had a group of friends that were way ahead and they wanted to catch up). DH was in his scooter and I was walking with him and the line was crowded :crowded:. I tried to let them pass us but there were so many people and with the language barrier (I guess) they couldn't so they just kept pushing. Anyway, they finally decided to really push and pushed me so hard I fell into DH and almost knocked him off the scooter. BTW - he's an above-knee amputee and didn't have his prosthetic leg on. Luckily we both caught our balance and we were ok. They turned as they pushed passed us and actually laughed! No "excuse me" or "sorry" just freaking laughing! :furious: It took everything I had not to chase them and give them a piece of my mind. Plus DH was holding my arm (guess he knew what I wanted to do) and kept telling me "it's not worth it. Let it go." Someone did say something to a CM who came over to us and asked if we were ok and apologized for the rude behavior of the girls. The best thing was that the CM took DH & I past the two girls and their group and let us get in before they did!

I don't know what group goes in early October - but DH & I will NOT be there!

WOW! What horrible behavior!!! When we went in July 2010, there were many tour groups at each park we went to. You could not get around them or go to another area with out a different tour group there.

Lucky no one in our party was injured, or saw really horrible behavior. We just saw lots and lots of people trying to get to the same place at the same time. It made it hard for our family of 4 to maneuver around the groups.

Fastpass machines were the worst!! At the time, only TSM had a designated FP machine for tour groups. At Soarin' this poor lady was stuck behind a tour group leader getting FP's for about 100 tickets. I let the lady cut in front of me, I felt so sorry for her.

We are going Aug 7-14th and hope, hope, hope that the majority of the tour groups are gone. With our kids we have a very small window in the summer to take our vacations July 10-Aug 14th.

Just returned yesterday. We did see many many tour groups ,Brazilian and others like several dance groups. We just avoided whatever direction they were headed. Did not really see rudeness or line cutting or chanting. Of course we were really only in Epcot and DHS so no MK

I hate national stereotypes as much as the next person, but I had to laugh at my own anecdata - when I was in England, the only people who were rude or obnoxious to me were other Americans - and French people!

I am really sorry this happened to you. There is NO reason for them to behave in this manner and to potentially injure people just to get on a ride.
I am glad though that you kinda got back at them by being able to load the ride before them:lmao:. Serves them right.
We are going end of Aug and I pray that there are no tour groups there at this time as my mother is going to need a scooter there bc she cannot walk the parks bc she has debilitating arthritis and a heart condition. If a group would even think of hurting my mom or a member of my party, they will have hell to pay.

I am glad that you and your DH did not get hurt due to their actions. :flower3:
