Brazilian Tour Groups

What is wrong with them. I can speak Portuguese so I have no problem asking them to step aside so we can go through. This is a trip of a lifetime for most of them so let them enjoy it. I would rather deal with them than the obese tourists in electric wheelchairs beeping their horns at people to move out of their way. One of them actually ran over my pregnant wife's foot and did not apologize after she yelled at her.

I know. These are kids having fun at disney. Treating them like they are the plague is just wrong. If you don't like them being in the park then just leave and come back some other time.

That shouldn't happen. Obviously people should see for themselves to judge whether or not the groups bother them, or even are acting how people tell them they do, but you shouldn't have to leave a park because other people aren't behaving.

The chanting doesn't bother me. Them walking in a crowd doesn't bother me. The fast pass thing DOES bother me.

We've been stuck down there with them twice during the first week of January and once during the first week of Feb. They are absolutely the most rude, obnoxious, undisciplined little brats you will ever find (much worse than the Pop Warner kids that are down there the first week of Dec).

Put it this way, if I was offered an absolutely free trip duing the month of Jan or July, but had to stay at the same resort as they do, I wouldn't even think twice before turning the trip down. They are that bad. It's not worth the stress. No way would I go in Jan again (and with the heat combined with Brazillain tour groups there no way you would ever catch me at WDW in July.)

Do a search and read some of the threads about the antics these kids pull. Chanting on the buses late at night at the top of their lungs, making little kids cry is not just having fun. Knocking kids down, pushing themselves onto buses ahead of the people who have been waiting is not fun. Standing across the walkway and refusing to let others by them is not fun. Chanting loudly during shows and rides is not just having fun. Arriving at the last minute for a parade and then standing in front of everyone that has been waiting for an hour is not fun. Spreading out all over the sidewalks in huge groups to take a nap, making everyone walk around the group is not fun. Soaking their dirty feet in Cinderella's fountain behind the castle is just gross. Large groups constantly cutting in line is not fun. Getting behind one of their tour guides who has 100 tickets to run through is not fun. Trying to sleep when they are having a soccer game outside your room at midnight is not fun, especiallly when they are kicking the ball up against your wall and screaming at the top of their lungs. Them completely taking over the food court, drink machines, and pools so no one else can use them is not fun. The girls taking their bikini tops off in the pool around little kids is not fun. Them running little kids out of the splash fountains at Epcot, so they can use it is, not fun. Them loudly making fun of a handicapped child is not fun. Granted some of these kids are polite and well mannered, but the vast majority are just unruly, spoiled, rich, little hoodlums who want to see how much of a disturbance they can cause. What makes it so bad, is that Disney does absolutely nothing to even try to control these kids and if you complain, all you get is that it is Latin month and these kids are their guests too and it's just a cultural thing.

Went January 3rd - January 17th this year. There were lots and lots of South American tour groups there. Whether it was Disney parks, Universal parks or Seaworld.

I personally didn't have a bad experience with them. The best advice as previous posters have said is that whatever direction they are going in, you go the opposite way.

If you see one of the tour guides ( will 99.9% of the time have abackpack with a flag sticking out over their shoulder) at a fastpass booth, the best thing to do is get a fastpass for a different ride as that tour guide will most likely be getting 50+ fastpass tickets.

Personally, I don't understand why they all go around together. It would surely be better for them to do whatever rides/ attractions they want to do and for them all to meet up at a certain time in a certain location. We used to do that in my school. Was much easier. You could visibly see some of the students wanting to go one way and being told they had to go another way altogether which must have been frustrating.

I had a fastpass for splash mountain one day and from the line where you go into the covered area up the stairs to loading bay it was all one big BTG. It was a bit silly really. The standby queue was 65mins.

But yeah, just go the opposite way they are going in :)

Disney won't do anything as they would hurt their bottom line as they do a business with this country. Haven't you looked at labels for things you buy from Disney I have and guess what it is not made in USA.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amen! The parts in red have happened to me personally and I was getting ready to type it up. Instead I will just quote this post.

Same here. I've only come across a large tour group once in all of our trips. It was not as bad as I thought - but then again we only ran into the group at the parks and not at hotel or on the bus. I could see how that could get a little crazy!

I absolutely won't go to Disney in Jan again, but Universal I will..I have to say Universal employees seem to be less likely to put up with the bad behavior. The 2 bad incidents I had with the tour groups, Universal Tms were ALL over the behavior and removed the groups from the line.Plus resort guest express pass is a wonderful thing since they tend to NOT have it.Disney would never ,ever step on the toes of a paying guest...I remember the week before we went Obama made his announcement about increasing tourism to the states from South America and China.I thought to myself, how much more can they increase ?:confused3Didn't seem to me that there should be any people LEFT in South America that week, they were all in Florida.
I tried to avoid them as much as possible, but It is hard to simply go the other way when there is 2 tour flags and at least 70+ people in each group walking 5 abreast through the parks coming at you

I have been to Disney 15 times, at all times of the year, and I have never seen behavior like you describe from the BTGs.

And I actually enjoy them when I happen to be at the water park with a BTG. They wear the BEST bikinis!

The wife and kids are going down in 12 days for 3 weeks. I'll report back my run ins if any. Last time down we had a issue at the Muppet movie. Cutting in line. That sort of stuff again the CM just turn a cheek. BTG may make up 1% of the total years gross but are treated as they bring in 99%. Elbows up and you'll be surprised that no one cuts in front of you without hurting themselves.

We saw a tour group last week, the leader had a green flag. We were on the FP line at Splash ans the group was at the front of the standy by line. it was very loud when we passed by. They were chanting something like We get wet. I was soo glad ww didn't have to wait or ride with them.

I think a lot of the issues with their behavior is due to the fact that they don't have enough chaperones. When we went on trips in school, there was always more than one.

When we were there last February, I witnessed the behavior first hand. My then 7 year old son was walking a little bit in front of me (maybe 3-4 feet). Then a BTG cut between us and wouldn't let me catch up to him. Nearly gave me a heart attack as he started crying out for me, and no matter what, they wouldn't let me through to him. One girl even pushed me.

We will still go back in February as one interaction like this in an otherwise wonderful trip isn't enough to stop me. But I wish they had 1 tour guide per 10 kids or so. Then they wouldn't need to move around in such big packs. They could split up a bit.

I guess a thin tourist in an electric wheelchair running over your pregnant wife's foot and not apologizing would be OK?

How about - rude people are universal, and are found among all nationalities, sizes and shapes. One rude person from one such group does not equal ALL people of that group. Rudeness is its own category. :hippie:

They arrive late June ( AKA right now ), but just get the parks early enough to avoid the annoyingness :scared:

I was actually going to add to this thread, but, I should probably just quote about half of the negative comments. We are frequent visitors and we have seen it all with these groups. The thing that bugs us the most is the fastpass problem. One morning we showed up at TSM and found all the fastpass machines with a tour guide at a machine. We watched the clock tick up 4 hours, until our chance to return was beyond the time we had in the park. Had it not been for them we would have 4th in line for a pass instead no ride for us. Not fair. I think if you want a fasspass you should have to be there like everyone else.
