ps, that's a great picture! :thumbsup2, he's brute..sure hate
to meet him in our woods. [ a few years ago , a small black
bear, came over our main hill......sure glad he ignored me,
& he was just a lil'-one. ]

to me, nature puts on the best shows.

Do you mean the bear in my signature? We got that picture with our critter cam we have in the woods. We've only seen him once, a year ago this past spring. Tried to get a picture of him through the window but it wasn't very good, so we stepped outside to get a better look. I even stepped onto the picnic table to try to get a better picture, but once he heard/saw us he started running away from us. We have to bring in our hummingbird feeder every night. Forgot once and it was on the ground, with a big hole in it, the next morning. Forgot the finch feeder once too and he bent my shepherd's hook to get at it, and destroyed the feeder. So we know he's up in the yard at night, but we don't see him during the day, which is a good thing really. :)

My family has been extremely fortunate to see Disney multiple times and have seen the tour groups mutiple times.
I just think eh its Disney and so lucky to be here !! Enjoy life is :wizard::hippie: short !!

I have never seen Brazilian groups at the end of August but we did see them in Feb 2009 -- however the Brazilian groups were the least of our worries that trip. The biggest offenders and annoyance of cheering was from the US Cheerleaders that were there for competition. The resounding noise inside the queue for rides brought many a CM raised voice asking them to politely stop the banter back and forth between the various groups.

Needless to say I will never go again during a time when I know the cheer groups will be there for my own sanity. :scared1:

While I don't agree with one person holding a place in line I don't see why you would want everyone to be present at the FP machine. We always have one or two people in our party of 4 pick up the Fastpasses. Why would you want all 4 of us there to crowd up the area? Can you imagine 100 people doing the same. At least if there is only one or two people they are only using one or two machines.

The bass guitarist in my church choir is Brazillian(the nicest young man you could ever hope to meet). At the beginning of January, I am going to ask him how to say the following phrases in Portuguese: No line cutting! Get to the back of the line! We don't want to hear your stupid chanting!

The point is while they are enjoying an attraction someone else is at a FP machine getting their tickets. Then they just head off to the next attraction with fp in hand hit that attraction while someone once again is getting 100 FP's for them.

Here's a good example. Try doing a rope drop at HS. Imagine 100 kids running to TSM. They hop in line, spend 15 minutes or so waiting for the attraction. In the meantime someone is getting 100 FP's for them while they are riding.

The average person is either waiting in line for a FP then off somewhere else or waiting in the line once they get their FP.

With this system that these tour groups operate in and WDW's who cares attitude, they spend very little time having to wait, while the average WDW guest does not have someone running from FP machine to FP machine getting tickets while never riding an attraction.

I know I do not want to be there with hords of any groups, well except maybe those Swedish Bikinis Teams, when do they hit the parks again?

I was talking with a CM friend while we were there in July and was told that one of the main topics during their daily meetings were about BTG's. One funny story is, during BTG time, Disney has to have extra help manning the computers to delete the pictures taken on rides so they don't show up at the ride exits (flashing and worse). Attention WDW: I have some spare time in July and I work cheap!

That's because they aren't bad in January. The groups tend to be smaller and less likely to over-run an area. We usually see them start to arrive at the end of January then they are there all through February. The groups tend to be around 25-40 of them, they don't lock arms and clog up the walkway and they don't sing or go crazy while waiting for something (all of which they do in the summer!).

Generally, they will not impact your enjoyment. Disney has employed a LOT of Brazilian cast member and they can handle the tour groups very well in January. They help with line etiquette, character greeting, ordering and waiting in line for food - these are things that are done differently in their country and most times are not done with malice. It DOES get frustrating when one teen waits in line, then when they get to the front, 20 others join then. That's usually where a Brazilian cast member can help and step in.

Don't be scared of January. BUT - never go in July if you can help it. I've heard nothing but horror stories :scared1:

Well that's good to know. We will be there at the beginning and middle of the month so hopefuly we don't have anything to worry about! Yes I know all about going in July. Been there done that and will probably never do it again!!!!:scared1:

Hey Marty Joe! We can fly out of Indy together! I'll give you some help with that "assignment". :lmao:

I don't necessarily agree. Most families that are experience WDW travellers do have a FP runner. We take turns getting FP's and as a result rarely wait in standby lines.

Its totally within the rules of WDW and they are paying guests the same as everyone else.

I go every 4th of july since 1999 and when I see those flags on line i have learned to stay away. The one problem is that they put a few online and when the other 25 show up thet feel it's okay to join those already online. I just walk past them online and put myself ahead of them when they play that game.

I never said it was against the rules. But as a paying guest myself, just like everyone else, I feel I am entitled to express my disagreement with this policy, or lack of. I have also expressed it via letter to WDW.

But we can gracefully disagree. I think the owner of the key should be present at the fp. Sorry, I just can't agree with one person tying up a fp with 100 tickets in hand.

We were in WDW in July of 08 and there were several Brazilian Tour Groups. I have to say I was really worried after everything that I had read here about them but we never encountered an issue at all with them except fot the end of the night chanting as they left the parks. I found them to be as well behaved as any of the other tourisits in the parks. Now that isn't to say that there aren't some unruly groups but thus far that wasn't my experience. We have been in August as well and have seen smaller 30-40 people tour groups again not an issue. We'll see what happens this summer but I am not going in with the attitude that they will ruin my trip or steal my magic.

We have only seenn them during our January trip. the only problem we had with them is that they were loud in the parks when the huge group went by. Never saw them on any rides, shows or attractions. Maybe we were lucky.

We have also gone to WDW during the last 2 weeks of August, October and December and have never run into them at these times. :cool2:

The blatant racism of these BTG threads amaze me. I don't get it at all. July is packed and part of that are these groups. But if we want to complain about them why is it not okay to complain about all the fat people in ECV's clogging the roads? Or why is it not okay to complain about 10 year old kids in strollers or worse yet 5 year old kids pushing a stroller full of gear.

I have experienced the BTG's and they are annoying for sure. But not because they are from Brazil, but because it is a large group of teenagers. Put any large group of teenagers together and they will be aggravating. Let's complain about Pop Warner teams who have actually had people arrested and kicked out of resorts for their behavior. Or what about the cheerleaders (although as a guy I really don't think anyone should ever complain about cheerleaders...)?

This happens every time a BTG thread pops up. It is NOT racism at all. We do not judge their country of origin or language, but use it as a descriptor because it is a FACT that hundreds of Brazilian Tour Groups come to WDW certain times of year. They behave in a way that is totally unique compared to any other large tour group (i.e. Pop Warner or cheerleaders).

They have a "system" that they follow because these are all organized tours by a certain limited number of tour companies. Those tour operators behave in exactly the same way, so the behavior is the same and predictable whenever a group is encountered. For instance, you will ALWAYS see the groups lined up on Main Street waiting for fireworks an hour and a half in advance. They have to entertain themselves, to the tour operator will encourage singing or chanting to keep them entertained. Ruins the time for the "regular" non-tour group folks also waiting (if they can even find a spot).

I once saw a tour operator do a call and repeat type chant one time walking from Big Thunder Mountain to Haunted Mansion. They drowned out the musicians playing in front of Diamond Horsheshoe and disrupted the street show in front of Country Bears. That's not acceptable on any level! But the tour operators want these kids to go home and say what a wonderful time they had, so the operators will do whatever they must to disrupt your personal vacation so the group has a good time.

The most we want to do on these threads is to help each other enjoy a vacation. Discussing tour group behaviors that get in the way of that enjoyment is totally acceptable. We don't call names, we're not racist. I try to help on these threads because I don't think anyone deserves to have a less than wonderful time at Disney World, and if you're going to be there when the BTGs are there, then you have to be forewarned and prepared for it.

Oh yeah, I have been to WDW in an ECV due to severe debiliatating rheumatoid arthritis and I am pooh-sized (or "fat" as you have chosen to call me in a blatantly arrogant way). You may think I'm big, but I don't cover the entire hub in front of the castle. So shut up!

So I am going last week in Jan and staying into Feb, Should I be concerned? I really want my vacation to be great and dont want to have to worry about these groups. Is this a popular time for them to be there?
