If there is availability, then it is not too late...you won't know until you call and ask. The price might be high though, not sure.

We've never stayed offsite, but there are plenty of small hotels all around Disney (Comfort Inns, etc.) and I'm sure you can get something for a reasonable price.

Thank You! I am calling them now!!:goodvibes

Okay, I'm new at this room request thing, so I thought I'd ask the experts on this thread for opinions.

I'm faxing a letter to CSR to make two requests. One, the phone CM snippily informed me wasn't a request because when I asked for adjoining rooms he said "That's what a Grand Gathering means". The other request is for a renovated room - don't care where, as long as it's one of those gorgeous new rooms! Here's what my letter will say:

Dear Friends at the Coronado Springs Resort:

Our Grand Gathering is arriving on July 4th, 2009 for a much anticipated birthday celebration at your resort. We would be most appreciative if we could be assigned adjoining rooms that have been recently renovated. We have seen the newly renovated rooms, and we think they are just beautiful! This is a very special vacation for our family, so thank you in advance for anything you could do to honor this request.

Our Grand Gathering number is XXXXXXX, and our individual reservation numbers are: XXXXXXX, XXXXXXXX, and XXXXXXX.

Thank you again,
The XXXXXXXs, XXXXXs, and XXXXXXs (Family Names)

Two questions for you, DISsers - is that the correct format for the fax? And when should I send this - June 29th, 30th or July 1st? (Four days between the fax and arrival, four days including the arrival date, or four days including the fax date and arrival date?)

Your letter sounds fine to me, too. I faxed our request on Tuesday, prior to our Saturday arrival. I would take a PP's suggestion and change adjoining to adjacent.

We were assigned a room in Cabanas 8B which was perfect for us! We were very pleased.

Have a great trip!

I changed it to adjacent. I'm not actually too fussed as to whether the rooms are right next to each other - so long as we're on the same floor, in the same building, that's fine.

Thanks again, all!

Adjoining rooms
Definition: Two guest rooms located next to each other which are connected by a door between them.

That may be your definition, but it's not CRO's definition. Call and ask if you don't believe me. If you want to be connected by a door, you must obtain connecting rooms.

We just got home yesterday from our 8 day stay at CSR. This was our second stay. We faxed a request for Cabanas 8A or 8B and got Ranchos 6B. I asked at check in to be switched and was told they were booked and the Cabanas were not available. The CM made no effort to try to switch us. We checked in at 11AM and the room wasn't available until 4:50PM. I was disappointed that it took so long to get a room in the least desired section of the resort. We made the most of it and kept positive attitudes. It was close to the quiet pool and a bus stop. We were on the back section of the building in room 6637 and the noise from the wooded swampy area was unbelievable. If you are a light sleeper avoid the back side of Ranchos 6B. You can hear it over the ac. I will post a video of it later so you can hear the frogs, insects and other loud creatures.

The walk to El Centro only took seven minutes and it was only 2 minutes to the Dig Site. The bus stop was also two minutes.

We saw Glen on Sunday and he is still very little.

Mousekeeping was great. We ate at the Pepper Market once and the food was great. We were on the dining plan so the price didn't matter.

We will return to CSR again but I think the next trip will be at AKL.

The best part of our trip was the Wishes Cruise. The fireworks and tour of the lagoon, Discovery Isaland and River Country were great. If you ever get he chance to do this I highly recommend it.

I hope everyone enjoys there upcoming trips. The resort is beautiful.

I'm sorry you didn't get the section you wanted, but glad you did not let it ruin your trip. Good to hear that Mousekeeping was great after all the bad reviews lately at ALL resorts. We are doing AKL next year too (but with a split stay with CSR).

Thanks for mentioning the Wishes Cruise. DH and I have talked about doing this but had never really heard much about it. It sounds like something we should take part in next year.

And I'm glad to know Glen is still hanging around.

Do you have any pictures to post?

I will post some pictures later in the week. We did the Wishes Cruise with 8 other disers and it only cost $40.00 per person including snacks, drinks and gratuities. Very informative and lots of trivia.

Thanks. That's not a bad price at all. We'll definitely look into it in 2010. Thanks again!

What sections have been remodeled? Will they all be done by the end of Sept?

The rehab is scheduled to be done October 09. They have finished all of the Cabanas section; they are working on the last building in the Ranchos right now; Casitas 4 and 5 are complete, as is the 4th floor of Casitas 1, 2 and 3. Once they finish the last Rancho building, all they will have left are the first three floors of Casitas 1, 2 and 3.

Thanks for posting. I found it last night and am following closely.

KatMark, we did the Wishes cruise in 07 and totally loved it. When you fill the boat, it's also relatively good value. We did it with my sister's family for her 50th b'day, and found some board members to share as well. I don't enjoy worrying about the kids in crowds, so it was a wonderful way to see the fireworks, plus we learned a lot from our "captain". (You've been so helpful, I'm happy to share something useful with you!!) If you get the chance, I'd definitely recommend it.

We just returned from our trip to CSR. We were there from 6/13 - 6/22. We were in Ranchos 6B (room 6620) which is a renovated room and was right across from 7A which is currently being remodeled. It was very quiet in our section, except for one night when the family next to us had a major fight in the hallway outside our room. :scared1: We were a little frightened about how bad it got (and yes we called security)

The room was very nice and mousekeeping kept it clean. We had two minor issues when we first got there. First one was the air conditioning didn't seem to work very well. Maintenance checked it and they said it was fine. After following the directions here on this thread about overridding the system things got better. We also found that keeping the ceiling fan on high helped keep the room cold during the day when it was very hot outside. The second was our fridge didn't work very well at first. I remembered reading on the dis about opening the cabinet door to the fridge area, and that really helped. It helped so much that our water ended up freezing!

We drove there from Texas and parking was excellent in our section, probably because 7A is being remodeled.

We were at bus stop 3 and the busses to all the parks went very well. We never had to stand going or coming home. (I should say we never went to a park that had magical mornings/evenings so that probably made a little bit of a difference) Bus Stop 4 and Stop 1 seemed a lot more crowded and those people did end up standing a lot more on the busses on the way to the parks. We did not use the busses to get to Downtown Disney, we drove there in our car.

We did have one small problem with the bus system and that was for character breakfasts at the parks before park opening. I will say that we had 3 character breakfasts at the parks at 8:15 when the parks didn't open until 9:00. 2 of the 3 times, things went very smoothly. For some reason the day we had our breakfast at Magic Kingdom the bus didn't show up until 8:00. All the other days, the busses were running at 7:00, but this time, the bus just wasn't there. I think there was a glitch that day with the Magic Kingdom bus, but I'm not sure.

We ate at Pepper Market a couple of times and it was good. I will say that it can get very crowded in there when there is a convention going on! The prices did seem high, but we were on the dining plan so it didn't bother us. We were not charged the 10% service charge since we were on the dining plan. We did find out though from our waiters and the cashiers that since they don't collect the service charge on dining plan participants, the waiters aren't given any gratuity for those tables.

We loved the little mini bar right outside the main building. That was very nice to grab a drink for the walk back to Ranchos.

We will definitely come back here. Thanks for all the help on this thread. Let me know if I can answer any questions!

Jessica

Wow! That's quite a "symphony"! There's worse things to hear outside your room, like freeway noise or a fighting family (oh, wait, you heard the second thing!).

I Think thaht Coronado is BEST moderate resort... Thanks Buzz2001.
I'LL GO... IN CHRISTMAS TIME!!!:cheer2:
Better beachs than CBR and lush landscape than POR:rolleyes1
