A friend of mine son brought home a brain teaser and we can not figure it out. Can anyone help. 6 adults have tried and we don't get it. :confused3

I am between 70 and 80. I have 2 tens plus 1

No idea! I tried googling it and got sent to a daily puzzles and brainteasers site operated by the Franklin Institute, but could not find the actual question on there. Sorry!

Wow that's hard. I only came up with

2 10's added would be 1+0+1+0 plus 1 would be 73. :confused3

If you get the answer let us know what it is.

This is a question in the new 'Medicare and You' book, isn't it?

Heidi - I read your response, but I still don't get it. How does that work? It's that new math, right? :confused3

I guess it was a # between 70 and 80 with 2 10's...if you take the 1 and the 0 from the 1st ten and add them together that makes 1, then you do the same for the 2nd 10 and you get 1 plus 0 = 1. Add the 2 1's from that and you get 2 + the additional 1 at the end of the puzzle. # between 70 & 80 with 2 10's (hence the 2) plus 1 which would make it 3. Add the 3 to the 70 and you get 73.

Does that make sense?? LOL My dd had something similar in 3rd grade and we over thought it and it was something as simple as that. I have no idea if that's what it is but hey it sounded good to me :rotfl2:

:confused3 Am I the only one scratching my head here?

I'll ask my brother, he's a brain with these kind of things.

Thanks everyone for trying. I was thinking 73 for the same reason. I also told my friend we have to be over thinking it. It is 1st grade homework it has to be a lot easier then we are making it! :rotfl: If she gets the answer back I will be sure to let everyone know!

thats like the one, that little kids get, but adults mostly fail:
what is greater that god, worst then the devil, rich people need it, poor people have it.

LOL Sorry Dwarf...I don't know how to explain it any other way. But as Lewis Black says.....Don't think about it too long or you'll have a brain aneurism. ;)

 I got that one!

I got you now, Heidi.

Last weekend we went to the Weathervane for some clam chowder. They had a kids placemat with all kinds of kid games on it. There was a game to see if you could find the one lobster out of 7 that was different. DH and I tried for a long time to find it, my 6 year old found it in less than a minute.

At what age do you lose the ability to figure those things out?

At conception of your first child ;) I'm reminded about how "lame" I am by my dd all the time :rotfl:

Hi, 1st grade teacher here. Maybe I can help.

2 tens plus one would be 21, because it has a 2 in the tens place and 1 in the ones place.

But the problem says I am between 70 and 80. Which makes me think it is misprinted, or you are seeing a 2 when it is really a 7.

7 tens plus one would be 71. And between 70 and 80.

Hope that helps. Otherwise, the problem makes no sense.

:lmao:

Oh yeah, it all started going downhill right after that. Thos kids start sucking the life out of us then, and I don't think they ever stop.
