Boys in girls bathroom

Don't know where 'sexual assault' even came from.
If it was anything even remotely near that, there would be a heck of a lot more than an one-day-susp.

The kids did something they shouldn't be doing... very clearly.... caught red-handed....
(IMHO, this would be a real and punishable offense)

And, really...... 'mirrors in the girls room' :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

They were reprimanded....

Period, end of story.

Sounds like a harmless prank to me.

Uh oh, I think it was in 3rd grade me and my friend Carla pretended to get mixed up when we wandered into the boys bathroom "by accident". Ahh the 70's, when kids could be kids. The main thing I remember about that day was wondering what that yellow cake of nasty like soap thing in the urinal was for. We had the place to ourselves so we kind of checked out what the boys bathroom was all about.

My son is almost 17 but the very thought of taking him into a womens' bathroom just two years ago is almost laughable.

Having been a teen boy at one time in my life and hearing the story (teen boys-bet, etc), they aren't telling you the whole thought process, but what makes them sound the best.

I mean anyone really wanting to know if there are mirrors would simply ask a girl if there were.

The real story was probably I bet you won't go in the girls' bathroom. The mirror part was added to make them sound less threatening (they knew they shouldn't be in the bathroom).

If they just got caught going in quickly and coming out (the mirror story was somewhat true), then one-day sounds about fair. If they were caught going in, hiding and locking a stall, or anything else but a quick in and out, they deserve a longer suspension.

Agreed. All.

I got caught in the boys bathroom when I was in high school. :rolleyes1 A male friend of mine grabbed a love letter ( ) out of my bag and ran with it, and ran into the guys bathroom thinking I couldn't follow him. I was too mad to care, and I ran right in after him. Thank goodness nobody was in there, but since I was screaming at him at the top of my lungs we attracted the attention of the history teacher. We got marched down to the office for a lecture and a letter home, but we didn't get suspended. :confused3

Ok, not quite the same but still boys and potty humor....

THe kindergarten teacher at our kids' school, back when they were in elementary school, was telling me one time one of the kids came back to class after their bathroom break with wet hair. She kind of ruffled his hair and asked why it was wet. The boy was SOOOO excited because he FINALLY got his pee to shoot up the wall of the urinal and out...into his hair :scared1::scared1: YUCK.

My guess is that the parents that have their undies in a twist over this incident don't have boys.

How is it the teachers job to educate YOUR children about sexuality (I mean the grand "your", not anyone here)???

They got caught, they got appropriately punished. End of story.

OMG that is SO something my son would have done if someone gave him the idea...

I DO think it is a punishable offense. (and most know that I am WAY over the schools and their over-control stuff)

I DO have a boy.

I am a woman/girl.

I think if any lines are to be drawn here (aside from these boy's mother's who just want their kid to get off) it is a Male/Female thing.

Men - Boys will be boys
Women - Stay out of my bathroom!!!!!

I take personal space very seriously.

These kids are like 13.

The teacher comment was because something along the lines of the kids go to bathrooms year round and every one of them have a mirror. Why wouldn't the girl's room? Do they leave their brains at the door when they enter the school.

I think it could be a hormonal imbalance of some sort.

It was a stupid prank all around, but I would be more upset about them lying about the circumstances than about the m runninng into the girls room. They were NOT there to find out if there were mirrors.

This.... :thumbsup2

There was nothing innocent in their intent.

If anyone believes that there was... wake up call!!!!

2 boys here - and I think it's a harmless prank. And their punishment is already ridiculous! I cannot imagine adding more time.

Schools these days SO need to get a grip!

I was thinking they were younger. What exactly were they doing in there? The mirror story is BS.
If they were trying to sneak a peak well, 13 is old enough to know better and I agree w/ the punishment.

Teenage boys invading the personal space of teenage girls deserves more than a little note home
(along with high-five behind the back and a whispered 'way to go dudes!!!'.)

I am right with the schools on this one.
All the way.

I don't see where the school is adding more time????

Anyhow, yes I can agree totally and 100% that our schools need to get a grip.

I just don't think that this instance is an example of that.

Really? What happens when they get to college - and then work - and there are co-ed dorms, bathrooms, shower facilities, etc.? The horror!

13 is too old for that and they deserve punishment whether they had "malicious intent" or not. I think one day suspension seems fine since they didn't make it past the mirror area. If they had gone into stalls and bothered girls I would expect much more, but there's no indication they did that.

I have one teenaged son who sometimes checks his brains at the door when he gets together with a few friends. I always say that collectively their brains are less than each of their individual brains. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be punished. Living with the consequences of their own stupidity is the only way they'll learn.

Sounds like something a middle schooler would do but then again I can guarantee you that a majority of the boy's in my DD's class know the answer because surprise -- when you have a tornado warning on the first day of school -- the shelter is the girl's bathroom!!!!!! THAT was how she started 8th grade several years ago.

I remember it well and not only that but my DD thought it was funny that the teachers had to tell the boys who were hesitant to kneel on the floors of "don't worry, it's not like the boy's bathroom" -- I'm sure 1/2 of them were also mortified that they had to be in the girls bathroom anyway (I'm guessing the boys bathroom was also used because I can't imagine the bathrooms holding that many kids in general -- they must have been packed in there!).

I would think the circumstances dictate everything & obviously the school felt a 1-day suspension was appropriate for these boys.

Eh, I think a 13yr old girl should be able to us the bathroom without having a boy lurking about.
I would hope by the time they are adults & using co-ed facilities they will have learned respect for privacy.
FWIW I would feel the same way if a bunch of girls were sneaking into the boys bathroom.
I don't think it's a huge deal and the boys were likely just being knuckleheads but I think they need to be taught respect for privacy.

Was this "after hours" (when the boys wouldn't expect girls to be in there)?
Was it during class time (again when the expectation would be the bathroom is empty)?
Was this during a break between classes (when it would be expected to be occupied)?

The timing on this factors into whether the intent was innocent. If they didn't expect girls to be in there, how would it NOT be innocent?

It's even possible the boys dared each other to race in when they KNEW girls were in there. That doesn't mean they had any kind of malicious intent, just that they were trying to prove they are "brave".

A one day ISS would be about the most extreme I could see without evidence that they were planning/trying something "not so innocent" (ie: trying to 'peep' at girls not fully clothed). If they went in after hours, I could even see a simple "don't do this again"/write 500 times "I don't belong in the girls bathroom"/etc.
