Bouncing on Bounce Backs (Update Pg 20 post 299)

Last night, we (DH and I) renewed our PAP, so we are good to go for another year!!!

We are still trying to decide what to do about Goofy's PAP. He wants to get a job at Disney. If he does, he wouldn't need a pass. However, he still has community service hours he needs to get in order to qualify for the Bright Futures College Scholarship. We are thinking maybe a seasonal pass, that way if he doesn't get a job at Disney he will be able to get into the parks when we are on vacation there. His current pass expires June 6th. I'm not sure what to do about his??

We are getting the PAPs this summer, too. If money magically appears and we can renew, I think we'll end up getting the regular passes. And my DH is not getting a pass at all. With two weeks there this summer, he'll have had his fill - not to mention, used most of his vacation time. It will be fun just taking my girlies!

I know what you mean about not buying the pass if you don't need it. We have been looking at the YES program - which fits nicely in with our homeschooling - but you can't use it with an annual pass. We'd have to buy tickets that we don't need. I wish there was some way around it!

We have a few days to decide what we are going to do about Grumpy's pass.

It's $246 for the renewal rate on a seasonal pass.

It's $366 for the renewal rate on an AP or $480-something for the PAP.

The PAP isn't worth it for him. He went to DQ twice this past year, didn't go to any water parks, and no golf.

If we wait until August when we stay at CSR, the rates go up about $30 on each pass since he won't qualify for the renewal rate.

DH and I both said that if he isn't working for Disney by that trip, we will get him some kind of pass. He is perfectly content spending a vacation in bed watching tv, and neither dh nor myself are in agreement with that!!

Followed you over from my Pre-trip! I am so jealous you get to go so often! DH's swears it would ruin the magic, I don't think so! Maybe one year we will have to find out :rotfl2:

What is the yes program? We are a homeschooling family too!

I THINK it stands for Youth Education Series/Service/Something ;) And they have classes that you can take - over practically any subject matter and age group. They have classes on physics, chemistry, cultures, photography, graphic design - anything. And the park tickets are vastly discounted - but to go through the program, you have to buy tickets through them. Which is cool - but I already have an ap and don't need tickets!

How long have you been homeschooling? My oldest is 13 and we've homeschooled her since 1st grade. I also teach classes to homeschoolers (high school Latin, Mythology, and Geography). My youngest is in public school.

I will have to look into that. Thanks! We would already have tickets too.

This is our first year homeschooling! It was greatly successful with my kindergartener, but it was very nerve racking with my 11th grader. Funny thing, the 11th grader is neurotypical, and the kindergartener is the one with special needs. He finished kindergarten a few weeks ago, so we started 1st grade already! We will be doing half days over summer because he needs continuous reinforcement or he forgets things. I love the flexibility that homeschooling gives us!!

My oldest took Latin since 3rd grade, until this year. He switched to Spanish. By any chance do you have a classical education? He use to go to a classical middle and high school, up to this year. Their trivium was very heavy on Latin, History, and English. His heart is more in tune with science and math.

Right out of the gate and I'm jealous of you already!!

Going back to read the rest now...

Kathy

:welcome::welcome: (I just typed up a whole response to you, and I got an error message when I hit send. So this might come out in duplicate.) Thanks for joining in! I am enjoying your PTR! I am totally jealous of your spectrum mom trip. How awesome to have a mom's trip with other spectrum moms who totally get it!! I am with my little man 24/7 and love him to pieces. But there are some days I would love a break too. We had a taste of spending some vacation time with another spectrum family this past week. It was wonderful! No explaining needed, they and we understood.

:welcome::welcome: Great to have you following along! It's been 10 years that since we moved here. We are not tired of it yet, but Grumpy is more into thrill rides, and he feels Disney could use more. We still haven't done everything there is to do at WDW!

It's nice to go to WDW for a few hours and not feel like we have to accomplish everything in a day. Our youngest has epilepsy and ASD and doesn't handle the heat very well. We mostly find ourselves hitting the parks in the mornings or evenings. But we have to leave before it gets dark, because he is photosensitive. The fireworks and the blinking/twirling lights are seizure triggers. All this is pretty new to us, because he just started with this last June. He loves Disney so much! He says it's the one place where he doesn't feel different. We all like how we feel at Disney!!

Ok, I made it over here! :) So excited to read along again!

Love your pics of your boys as little guys!! SO sweet!

And you've given me one more use for the popcorn buckets! :rotfl: DH is always teasing me b/c I snack out of ours as much as I can. He's always like, "Really? You're eating Cheerios out of that?" :rotfl:

We have so many popcorn buckets! It also keeps homemade cookies very fresh!! At Christmas time we've filled the Christmas ones with cookies.

Now that's an idea too, cereal storage! Thanks!

better late than never... lol... cant wait to live vicariously through you as you plan not one but 3 trips! LUCKY!!!!

Finally all caught up Tink, Thanks for letting me know you were bouncing back. I am SOOOOOO Happy for you! It has been wild around here since Mother's Day, as you know and I have missed DISing!

I just counted up how many years I have been homeschooling a child...15...am I really that old? As far as neurotypical vs not...I will not even get started on that topic, lol!

I loved FINALLY talking to you yesterday and I am looking forward to more...

The retro pics of Grumpy and Anakin with Cinderella...too precious!

How WONDERFUL to know you are going back for more overnight stays! Such a blessing for your family!

:welcome::welcome: Great to have you here! I really enjoyed our time together at Disney last week! It was so nice to meet you and your family. Anakin can't wait to talk to Luke on the computer! He keeps asking. Do you skype or through another program? We will have to have Grumpy set us up, because I don't have a webcam, but his computer has one set into it.

We haven't gone this often since 2001 when the rates were super low. I think queen size beds at CSR and FQ are a big draw to DH. Also we need to escape reality, as I know you can fully relate!

Wow, 15 years! Way to go!! I assume you are doing it solo with portfolio and not through an umbrella school? We are using an umbrella school. I wanted Grumpy to have a highschool diploma. So far we are using the same umbrella school for Anakin, though I am not sure if I will continue or do it on our own in the future. Once I get a hang of it, I think I will be fine solo!

I printed out the free crowd calendars from easy wdw. I saw that in December, we are there during Pop Warner. I guess it's good we get there the day before Pop Warner starts. Wonder if alot of PW people will be checking in the day before too? Should we arrive early to check in?

We use skype. Not sure when we can get on there but hopefully sometime soon. Luke keeps telling me he misses his friend so we will have to do it sometime soon.

They don't stay at Pop...you should be fine.

We spent alot of time the last 3 weekends at DHS for Star Wars Weekends! We've had some great fun and Disney magic! But while reading times guides, I realized there are so many things we haven't ever done at the studios. I will need to make a bucket list. But first here are some pics of highlights from SWW in case you haven't been following along in the TR.
