Thought it would be a good idea to keep all of these experiences in one place for future reference.

We crossed INTO the US by land on Nov. 10. We were asked for our car license plate. We were asked for our passports and if we were vaccinated. No proof of vaccination was required.

We crossed back into Canada on Nov. 20. We were asked for our passports. We handed them over and he saw that we had the Arrivecan paper ready as well but he said he didn't need to see it. He asked for our license plate number and then asked to see our test results. He went over those for a minute and then asked what else we had to declare. We had a nice little chat about not being there for quite a while and then we were sent on our way.

There were 3 cars ahead of us when we arrived at the border at 8 pm. A few cars took quite a while and we saw one heading over for extra inspection. We were relatively speedy as we had everything ready for them.

We crossed into the US on November 11th and came back into Canada November 15th.

Crossing into the US was quick. We were the only car. They have a mirror that shows our license plate and we were asked for our passports and proof of vaccination. We were asked if we had anything to declare and were sent on our mary way. Total time maybe two minutes.
Coming back to Canada, we waited about 25 minutes in line. We were asked for passports, Covid test results (which he really studied closely) and what we had to declare. Definitely a longer process but pretty smooth. While waiting in line we watched someone walk across with a suitcase. They took quite a while at the window.

... We were asked for our car license plate....

Do you cross at a smaller border crossing? The major crossings have cameras to capture the license plate number. Or unless there was an issue with the license plate cameras.

We had just driven 13 hours....I think our license plate cover was dirty. We cross at the Peace Bridge. They couldn't read it going down either.

Wow, was this at Lacolle? I’ve never witnessed someone walk across. I’ve heard of it, but never actually been witness,
We may go to Plattsburgh after the 30th for a day, just because we can 😉. Other than that we will drive across Dec 24th, and drive back January 8 or 9.

We cross at the Niagara bridges and we often get asked for our licence plate even though there are cameras. I always thought it was just a random question to throw you off balance.

It was at St-Armands-Phillipsburg. I had never seen someone walk across either.
