Boo to You...and Food & Wine Too! - October 26 to November 2, 2012 Updated Post #282

Day 5 – October 30, 2012 – Part 7

We left off at the Be Our Guest Restaurant having lunch. This was a great experience where we got to go in the New FL to have lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant. I thought that when we were at the MK, we would just pass by the New FL entrance to see what it looks like. But I would never imagine that we would be able to go in and have lunch. After we ordered the food and ate that day, I went around the restaurant to get some pictures of the room. The Ball room and Beast room are so well detailed just like in the movie and now I am about to go on over to the third room at the restaurant.

I just have left Beast dining room and over to the next room which had art work statue of the characters from the movie. I was amazed at all the different art work in the room as well as the statue of Belle and the Beast. There was a lot of different art work of each character during different season and rooms.

My first impression of this room is that it doesn’t look like any of the rooms in the movie, but it does have great art work and the details of the room was nicely done.

That’s it for this post from the 3rd room at the new Be Our Guest Restaurant and I will have more from the New FL.

That's a beautiful room, Bret. Is it used as a sitting room for guests waiting to be seated at a table?

It was a nice room with all the art works. It is another dining room with the Ball room and Beast room. There weren't too many people in that room since most of the people were in the Ball room or Beast's room. It is another great dining room to eat if the other two rooms are busy.

We left off at the Be Our Guest Restaurant having lunch. This was a great experience where we got to go in the New FL to have lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant. After we ordered the food and ate that day, I went around the restaurant to get some pictures of the room. After getting pictures of all three rooms, I went around the restaurant again and got some more pictures before we left that day.

It was amazing to eat at Be Our Guest Restaurant and get some pictures before it was open to the public in December. Here are some more pictures of the dining rooms at the restaurant before we left.

Once we were out of the restaurant we were back at Enchanted Forest at the New FL. We were about to head on out of the New FL and do some other attractions in the MK, but we were in the area and we head on over towards the Belle’s Village which is towards the Little Mermaid ride. I thought that we had to leave after eating at the restaurant but we were told that we can go towards Belle’s Village and see the new land. I was excited to hear from the CM around the area that we were allowed to stay in the New FL and see the other parts.

We now approached Belle’s Village and it looks just like her village in the movie. We didn’t stay too long in this area since we were heading on over to the Little Mermaid ride. I did get pictures of the village so that will be on another post. Here are some pictures of the village when we were passing it.

Bret - Now you're just rubbing it in!! :lmao:

Fantastic opportunity to wander round the village with so few other people around. Loving the pictures! Thanks for sharing.

It is very tough to get as much of the WDW TR and the DL TR done before I head on back to DL in January.

I thought that we had to leave the New FL after eating at Be Our Guest Restaurant but we were lucky that we were allowed to enter Belle's Village and wonder around.

Thank you

Day 5 October 30, 2012 Part 10

We left off finishing lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant and we were back at the New Fantasyland Enchanted Forest and now heading on over to Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid ride which is one of the new rides at the MK when it is open to the public in December. This was really a special treat for all of us since we never thought of going through the New FL during our trip. We got to eat at the restaurant during lunch and now we are on our way to go on the Little Mermaid ride which is the same ride experience at Disney California Adventure which opened in 2011. Let's get back to the trip report and from Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid.

The next attraction was the Little Mermaid ride which is the same experience at DCA. The only difference between the two rides at the MK and DCA is the title which is called The Little Mermaid: Ariels Undersea Adventure at DCA and the building is modeled after a 20th-century aquarium. While the MK version features Prince Erics castle. The MK version matches the new FL version with Prince Erics castle.

All of us headed on over to the Little Mermaid ride

8144411281_e8e38efab2_c.jpg

The details of the castle and the rock work are so amazing and match the theme of the movie The Little Mermaid.
8144447416_66e6b37c45_c.jpg

We now approached the queue and were about to enter the Little Mermaid ride. The entrance looks very nicely done with a ship wreck right by the entrance. The stand-by queue was only 5 minutes which was short due to it was a preview that day. There was also a FP queue for the ride which was kind of surprising to me since the DCA version doesnt have a FP queue. I dont know why they have a FP queue for this ride since the DCA doesnt need one. But with the MK and all the guests they have at that park, it does make sense to have one for this ride when it opens.

Now we were in the stand-by queue for the Little Mermaid ride and I took a lot of pictures of the queue so enjoy all the pictures while we were walking down the queue.

We were walking down the queue which was quite longer than the DCA version. This queue for the Little Mermaid ride was quite long and there wasnt any short cuts like the DCA version where the queue is easier to go through.

Thats it for now on this post and I will have more from Under the Sea: journey of the Little Mermaid.

The detail is amazing in the queue area. I love the starfish and the rowboat pulled up on shore. I like the idea of the ride being in the castle.

I'm surprised at the fast pass for this ride too. Perhaps you are right that they expect more volume than at DCA where we've found the Little Mermaid Ride to be a walk on every time.

Nice queue area. Looking forward to seeing your pictures inside. :goodvibes

Thank you PiO. The next post will have more from the queue as well as the ride experience.

The queue is well detailed. Way better than DCA version. When I first heard about the ride at the MK, they had to make a castle exterior version to match the Fantasyland theme. The Imagineers did a great job on the building of the Little Mermaid ride.

It was surprising to see a FP for this ride and it is a fast loading ride just like The Seas with Nemo and Friends along with the Haunted Mansion which use the same ride experience. I remember when it opened last summer the LM ride had long lines but later on it was just a walk-on now. The MK version will be long and it will be a matter of time when the ride is a walk-on in the future.

The next post will be up shortly.

Day 5 – October 30, 2012 – Part 11

We left off walking through the queue of Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid ride at the New Fantasyland Enchanted Forest. When I first saw the exterior of the Little Mermaid ride it was really amazing with the details of the coral, lighting, ship wreck, etc. around the queue. The exterior of the Little Mermaid ride at the MK is way better than the Disney California Adventure exterior building. Now we were walking through the queue of the Little Mermaid to go on the ride.

We were walking through the queue which was quite long. It was a nice queue where it was well detailed with these different decorations. I was falling behind the rest of my group since I wanted to get as much pictures of the queue as possible. The music in the background is from the movie which was nice to hear.

While we were passing by the queue, we got to see Scuttle as an interactive with the guests in the queue. But we didn’t get to interact with him since we were walking through the queue very quickly. I wanted to see Scuttle while we were walking through the queue but my group was way ahead of me so had to catch up with them.

Now we inside which looks like a castle interior
8146233957_08986e6967_c.jpg

When we got close to the loading area at the Little Mermaid ride, the clam mobiles are just the same as DCA as well as the background. The only difference between the two loading areas is that the MK version is more of a castle interior while the DCA version is more of a aquarium type of building.

We had to load my relatives through the other side of the queue since they were in wheelchairs. So we went on the other side of the loading area which was the off loading area when the guests exit the ride.

We got in the clam mobiles and I was in one by myself while the others went in their own. The Clam mobiles are exactly the same and I knew that the MK version is exactly like the DCA version. But I am looking forward to see if there are any differences between the two versions.

I was thinking of using my video camera to videotape the ride, but I wanted to take pictures after I took pictures of the Little Mermaid ride when I rode it in August with my DB and his GF. The first pictures turned out okay and this time with the help from PiO and other people that do photography, I was ready for taking pictures of the Little Mermaid ride.

Nice pictures, Bret. I think I can see why you think you might need a wider lens.

Be very very careful.....hanging out on the photography sub-forum can be expensive! :headache:

Be very very careful.....hanging out on the photography sub-forum can be expensive! :headache:

Thank you PiO. The 35mm lens is very nice addition to the other lens that I have but as you can tell that I need a wider lens so I can get as much in the pictures. I was going to ask you about getting another lens for wider shots. I have looked at lenses that was in the range of 10mm to 20mm area so I can get better pictures. I do have the 18-55mm lens but the quality is just not that great from the 35mm lens. What do you think is a good lens for the Nikon. We did talk about the 35mm lens a while ago and I really like it a lot which made the pictures very nice.

You are right that it can be very expensive to do this hobby. Even though I am not a professional photographer, I still would like to have great pictures when I am at the parks.

Bret - are you going to use the wider lens for taking fireworks or for low light/inside ride photography?

If you have the Nikon 18 - 55 kit lens, that should be a reasonable lens to take fireworks shots with. Afterall, you are only using ISO 100 - 400 for the fireworks and f/8 - 16'ish; which should be the sweet spot for most kit lenses. You should try it and see if you like the shots before rushing out to get something.

If you are planning to use it for inside-ride photography, then that's another matter. And the range that you're talking about (10 - 20 mm) puts you in the Ultra Wide Angle range. If you haven't done so already, check out Tom Bricker. He shoots with a Nikon and uses a Tokina lens (11 - 17). The Tokina is a constant f/2.8, which makes it a great lens for low light rides. I almost got that lens for my Canon. There is also an UWA thread on the Photoboard.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2264410

Check it out and see if you like what they do there. Might be worth asking them the question for what lenses they use.

If I did get a wider lens it would be for the fireworks. I want to get a wide lens so I can get more in the picture than the 35mm. The 35mm that I have is good enough for the dark rides if I am far enough away from the picture that I want to get.

After reading your last post, I thought about it today during my basketball tournament today when I was watching the other games today. The first time that I took firework trails in mid June during the CL preview, I thought that the quality was not that great. But I also didn't use the ND filter on the 18-55mm lens. So when I go back to DL next month, I will use the 18-55mm lens with the ND filter to see how the firework trails turn out. Thank you for helping me with the details on the lens PiO.

I might do a little more research on the other lens and I won't need a lens for the rides since I mostly take pictures during the daytime or the fireworks.

Bret - Not that I'm trying to talk you out of spending money on a lens....but if the primary use is for fireworks, then try that kit lens a few more times. It is something that you do get better at over time. And rather than rushing out to spend money straight away, figure out if you can get pictures that you're happy with using that lens.

I would also check the focal length of the other pictures that you take and like. If you tend to stick within the 18 - 55 range, and if you really want to spend money, then you may be better looking at replacing the 18 - 55 kit with something better. Do you have any other lenses?

With your basketball, do you shoot there?
