I have a perfect pot of peanuts that I boiled last night! They are so, so good! Do you know how difficult it is to eat boiled peanuts, change the TV channel, and Dis at the same time? :lmao:

So, do you love them, hate them, have a clue what I'm talking about...?
And hot or cold! I like both.

I LOVE boiled peanuts. Hot is better, but cold is ok. I used to hate a ton of gardening chores, but never the peanuts! My daddy would pull them up and I'd sit under a shadetree in my grandparents backyard and pull them off and put them in 5 gallon buckets, then wash wash wash. Then my grandmother would boil them and I'd get to sample them to see when they were done. Always took lots of samples. :goodvibes

Don't liked boiled peanuts. They are a soggy mess! I had heard of them before I moved to the South but had never tried them. So I tried them, didn't like them, was told I hadn't had the "right" ones. So I tried the "right" ones, still didn't like them.

My theory is you have to start eating them when you are young and don't know what real peanuts taste like. ;)

That sounds like what I remember, December! My GPa and uncles would pull them, and everyone would help pick them off. I think the memories make them taste better! ;)

My DH is from New York, and he used to hate them. Now he loves them, but he'll never be able to devour them one-handed like us old pros! LOL!

Nothing like boiled peanuts and a Mountain Dew!! a sounthern thing!

I don't like peanuts and I especially don't like boiled peanuts.

But, even reading the title of this thread, it is pronounced "bowled" peanuts!

Don't they smell? Never had them, never will!

I prefer them honey roasted or made into pb, but since my son is allergic, I'm living peanut free :(

Cold, slimey things. Not a fan. Would rather save snack calories for chocolate anyway!

Oh my goodness! I must defend the nut, although I'll give y'all the "bowled" part! :cutie:

Boiled peanuts are fresh, unadulterated-in-any-way, green peanuts. They are boiled in salt water till the nut inside the shell is tender, like a properly cooked bean. It should not be overly mushy.
Smell? I suppose they smell a bit earthy, like a perfectly fresh wild mushroom!
If your peanut is slimy, then it has been around for far too long. I have seen that problem in those convenience store peanuts. Yuck! I cook my own.
As properly explained by SMS, they are the bomb with Mountain Dew - or diet Mountain Dew, in my case.
If after having eaten a properly prepared boiled peanut you still do not care for them, then I understand. I can never really trust you or be your friend, but I do understand. :snooty:

I agree-- I went down south and kept seeing boiled peanut signs everywhere--I finally caved and tried some--OMG- it was DISGUSTING! Give me my nice real peanuts anyday!

Not to hijack the thread, but speaking of peanuts,do any of you folks from the south put peanuts in your coke?I've heard that's a treat.:)

you can't eat boiled peanuts and drive...

well, you can, but there's gonna be a mess.

oh...I like boiled peanuts.

Sure! It's good. :) I only have them that way every once in a while, but enjoy them when I do.

And I love boiled peanuts. I prefer hot, but enjoy them cold, too.

I love them but only warm. Once they're cold they get all slimy. Also only boiled with salt. None of that cajun spiced stuff.

And no peanuts in Coke. That just sounds gross. :confused3
