Boiled Peanuts!

LOVE boiled peanuts.. can't find good ones in TN. Have to wait until I go through AL or upper FL to find good ones.

" and a UGA game to go with them!! " Gotta say though... they are so much better during an AUBURN game though. WAR EAGLE!!!!!!

Sorry... getting really close to SEC football time.......

what the heck are chitterlings????

ummmmm.......do you really want to know?

(pig intestines)

Chitterlings are carefully cleaned and rinsed several times before they are boiled or stewed for several hours. A common practice is to place a halved onion in the pot to mitigate what many regard as a pungent, very unpleasant odor that can be particularly strong when the chitterlings begin to cook. Chitterlings sometimes are battered and fried after the stewing process and commonly are served with cider vinegar and hot sauce as condiments.

Hahahahahaha!!! I do love to see the reactions of the innocent. Ohhh-my. Good times... Sorry April! ;)

Anytime you eat a gourmet hotdog or sausage touted as having "natural casings," you are eating a chitterling! :rotfl2:

They really are vile when served without the filling, though. Oh! That's sounds even worse.

Love, love, love boiled peanuts! :cloud9:  :goodvibes Prefer them warm, put will eat them cold. The saltier, the better. They go the best with a Diet Coke.

Definitely a must during football season.

Can't wait for: our Disney vacation :woohoo:, then the start of college football. :cheer2: Go Gamecocks! :cheer2:

Simba20 - I would love to know how you cook your peanuts in the crockpot. Please PM me if you don't mind. Thanks!! :goodvibes

Not to hijack the thread, but speaking of peanuts,do any of you folks from the south put peanuts in your coke?I've heard that's a treat.:)

Here it was always peanuts and Barq's rootbeer! Still put them in there every once in awhile.

Boiled peanuts are a household favorite around here. We will buy big sacks of green peanuts and boil them ouside. Boiled and salted just right and YUM. We prefer them hot.

If you have gotten one that is mushy, it wasn't cooked correctly.

Every sporting event around here sells boiled and roasted peanuts--its the best way to make money.

We all have different tastes, and different opinions, and that is fine. Makes life interesting. But I take offense at the "real" peanuts comments. I grew up planting them, hoeing them, harvesting them, cleaning them, cooking them,.......how is that not real but the processed ones you buy in the store are? :confused3

If you ate some and they were slimy, they were not freshly boiled.

I used to put peanuts (not boiled for heaven's sake!) in my cokes when I was a kid, but haven't tried that in years:).

I bet some of you turn up your noses at fried catfish and sweet tea, too.:snooty:

:thumbsup2 Can't get anymore "real" than picking, boiling and eating them on the same day!

Roasted peanuts in an icy cold small REAL glass Coke bottle.....yummo! Brings back lots of great childhood memories. (My granddaddy drove for Coke. It's all coke to me! ;))
