Hi there...after posting feedback on my dining choices several folks mentioned the blue bayou....questions...

Is it kid friendly? I have 2 boys, ages 10 & 5
What type of kids menu?
Heard it is pricey...is lunch a good option?
When can I call for reservations?
Thanks!!!!

Blue Bayou is a very good restaurant for kids. My kids are 8 and 10 and it is one of their favorites. They do have a kids menu with various things, corn dog nuggets, chicken nuggets and maybe spaghetti for around $5. The menu is on a pirates hat they can keep. We always love to ride Pirates either right before or right after our PS. You can call 6 weeks out for PS' inside the park. Lunch is definitely cheaper and that is when they have the monte cristo (big enough to share). We like to go around 11:00 or 2:00 so that we can either have a lighter/cheaper breakfast or dinner.

Most everything at DL is kid friendly, including Blue Bayou. Most kids like the atmosphere with the fireflies, the boats going by, etc. My son seemed to like Blue Bayou fine when we went with another family when he around 7. However, I took him back when he was around 10 and he didn't like it. I think the problem was, the kids menu indicated ages up through around 9, and he felt he no longer made the cut. But the costs and the selections of the adult menu were not appropriate for him at that age. We ordered off the kids menu, but I think he felt uncomfortable with that. Now he's 14, has an adult appetite, more adult tastes, and loves for me to spend money on him, so he likes BB better again.

It's now been 4 years since we've ordered off the kids menu, so I don't really remember what it offered. I think it's pretty standard -- chicken strips, pasta dish, ... I believe the menu is posted outside, so you can always make a reservation and cancel if it doesn't look like it will suit your family.

I believe you can make PS 6 weeks in advance for Blue Bayou.

Lunch is a great option. It's a little cheaper, although it may not affect the kids menu prices.

My boys are 10 and 6!! They LOVE Blue Bayou, in fact, when we went to DL last Nov. for my youngest's birthday we gave him a choice of where to have his bday meal and he choose Blue Bayou. He LOVES "pirates of the caribeeb" restaurant :earboy2:

Very, very kid friendly with special meals for kids witn pirate hats etc.

And I wouldn't call Blue Bayou pricey - more expensive than a hamburger or counter serve, but not the sort of place that will wreck a budget if you go only once.
