Black Friday Buddies 2011 Unite!

I live in a suburb of Buffalo, NY- not a huge town but not small either. By the time 9pm hits the lines will be hundreds deep. If you truly want that tv at Best Buy- you'd best get there by 2pm at the latest. People are ALREADY lining up at a BB down the street. They have TENTS!! If you have the extra 300, don't bother. It really depends on how much the savings is worth to you. If it's worth skipping Turkey dinner go for it! :)

There are already people in line at the Best Buy here.

if it makes you feel any better, my house is not clean, I haven't bought any of those nasty cheap rolls the family likes, and they are coming for turkey tomorrow at 11am... I don't know yet what I'm doing except for Michael's, and my van, AKA "The BF Battle-wagon" needs gas, is overdue for an oil-change, and is COMPLETELY full of mess that will have to be cleared out to make room for stuff we buy... and all that mess will have to come into the house...

There, now don't you feel better? :rotfl:

I'm all confused to the point of not even wanting to go out this year. The different opening times are screwing with my plan

So Toys is opening at 9PM on Thanksgiving- but their ad is saying with "special additional Doorbusters at 5AM" Which to me means it will be impossible to score anything here. If people have been there through the night with carts full of the stuff. ugh. So I guess Toys is off the list.

Target being at midnight ugh. So what time to get in line. Should I bother getting in line. I am not going for any big ticket things I don't think.

Why can't it all go back to simple get up in the middle of the night and get on line at Best Buy kind of black friday:rotfl2:

I agree the opening times are not good! Bad for the workers and I don't like them either!

We always got up at like 4 and went to Walmart for opening, then over to target for opening, then to Kohls. Now they all open at the same time so we will just chose the one that has most of what we want and I guess we will be done. Not much point going to the others a few hours after opening. I think we will head home and sleep then maybe go back out around 1 after the hooha is basically over. I thought it was more fun to go from store to store for opening. I also think it will be much more crowded. It is easier to stay up and go to the store at midnight than to get up at 4. We will see how it all plays out. My sister and I go out for the fun of it and rarely have something we MUST get so the opening all at the same time may save me money!!!!

I keep wondering about that. I agree that it's easier to go late than get up early but you also have those who say that they won't go during these new hours. It should be interesting to see what happens.

Anyone else TIRED of the backlash? nearly every single site- cnn, msn, yahoo, has some sort of article and 100s if not 1000s of comments on how us 'mean, rude, greedy shoppers' are making stores like Walmart open early.
Really? Do they say how we're doing that? Pounding on doors, demanding to be let in? Occupying the yards and drives of CEOs weeks in advance until they agree to open their stores earlier and earlier?

No. It's the stores competing among themselves for our holiday spending money.

I am wondering the same thing. How is it gonna shake down with consumers. I have a few midnight openings and a few at 4am and 5am SOOOO...what now? I have to look over the ads again, look over my list and determine a plan of action. I might have to go home and sleep for a few hours and then get up again. I don't know what I'm gonna end up doing.

As for all the $$ they will receive from me? Our family budget has been the same for YEARS. For example- we spend $50 on each of DH's sisters- have done this for YEARS. Every person on our list has a budgeted amount we spend and I have a list that I save on my computer of that budget from year to year. Nobody makes more $$$ off me than they have in the past. My budget is my budget. If I can get my $50 to stretch further, they just get more gifts so finding good deals means more presents, not more $$$ spent. I have never fallen for the BF budget buster concept. We buy within our budget and NO more. The stores HATE people like me.

well I'm excited I already purchased the Kindle at Best Buy Sunday for the same price I was gonna wait in line at Target, and today I went to Kohls.com and got everything I wanted fromt them on BlackFriday as well at least already %50 off their retail, plus the 15% off and the $15 for every $50 spent!

and to mention another reason I LOVE Kohls, I called right after I placed my order because I thought I had got to the $150 mark for $45 Kohls cash, but it didn't come up that way just $30, duh I forgot taxes aren't included, told her I wanted to add something to my order because I was only $2 shy and she said she'd just go ahead and put in to give me the other $15 :)

HOLD THE BUS! Kohls has lots of things on sale now and is doing the Kohls cash AND the 15% off (coupon I got in mail) NOW?! Like TODAY?!

I was gonna wait til BF but I think I might go TONIGHT! ***checking hours for tonight :surfweb::surfweb:

yep I just bought almost my whole shopping list I had for them for Black Friday, got the %15 and the $15 Kohls cash too :) and free shipping :)

Ours is open til midnight tonight! I'm gonna go tonight and will likely skip BF at kohls!! :)

Have to agree. I don't do Black Friday shopping - just can't get into the crowds, etc. - but if somebody else wants to shop when a store is open, that's their choice, and there's nothing wrong with it. Some people really enjoy the "hunt", and with today's economy you certainly can't blame anyone for trying to get the most for their money.

No, but in spite of the outcry on here that "we are all so nice' Facts are that a lot of the early BF shoppers are overly agressive and rude. I personally watched a woman SLAP another woman over an $9.99 item several years ago.

So if you are hanging out at Best Buy now and the flight breaks out.... the media will tar you with the tag of rude. Sorry, but the facts are what they are.

And if you think I just called you rude? Really? Hmm... I didn't I just pointed out why the media says what they say.

Attention: JC Penny shoppers!

Over on bfads.net people are indicating that some of their stores have signs that they will open at 3AM not 4AM.

According to a person, who I assume works for Pennys, this move, seems to be a last minute, based on available staffing, and proximity to Kohl's. And it was too late to get it in the ad. So you might want to give your store a call, and verify opening, especially if they are near Kohl's.

Personally, I think you're really stretching. I don't drink. I have seen people who were behaving badly due to being under the influence of alcohol. I don't make the jump to saying that everybody who purchases an alcoholic beverage is going to abuse it.

While there's no doubt that some BF shoppers behave badly, there's no way the label applies to most of the shoppers. As I said earlier, I don't do BF sales because I don't want to deal with the crowds - certainly not because I'm afraid peoples behavior is going to be atrocious.

I have a code for 25% off at Coach... does anyone think there will be a better deal this weekend? Wondering if I should just go ahead and place my order. :confused3

Also, does anyone know what Vera Bradley will be doing for Black Friday? Thanks!

Feel better now???

People say that about New York, too... but I'm a NICE NYer. :cloud9:

And the media will NEVER take video of an orderly crowd. That's NOT news.

Have a nice day...

Change the subject a bit from stereotyping. No one fits in one mold and just because you wait in line with someone doesn't mean they are "their company" and that is how you should be judge.

Does anyone know how Waltmart is going to put out the stuff? I keep hearing commercial that they will be open 24/7 so you don't have to wait outside. So now I am wondering if lines will start for every item? How will they put them out?
