Black Friday Buddies 2011 Unite!

Productive day. Traded in last of broken wii accessories, now have $188 in credit at gamestop. Got a price adjustment on kindle at Target using BB ad. Then printed two $5 off $10 Hallmark coupons, 15% Kohls coupon and $10 off $25 from Dick's sporting goods, all good through bf.

Anyone else TIRED of the backlash? nearly every single site- cnn, msn, yahoo, has some sort of article and 100s if not 1000s of comments on how us 'mean, rude, greedy shoppers' are making stores like Walmart open early.

I've worked retail before for a few years. I've arrived at the store at 2am Thanksgiving night to prepare the store for opening on BF. I've even come in at midnight ON Christmas to prepare the store for the 5am opening on December 26th (another HUGE shopping/return day). I've even worked 12 hour shifts overnight during the holidays to stock shelves. Did it stink? YUP! But we knew that going into the job. Retail from Thanksgiving til NYE is like tax season for accountants. The hours stink, the work is hard but it's ALL part of the job and we DID get paid for it.

I LOVE black Friday even though I've been in their shoes (the workers). I'm not greedy, I'm not rude. BF makes me happy and always has! I play holiday music, wrap gifts, shop til I drop, get donuts at 3am for a pick me up :goodvibes

Black Friday isn't about greed for me. It really gets me in the spirit of things

I am TIRED of people calling us BF shoppers every name in the book. I'm not greedy, selfish, rude, or disrepectful...I know the reason for the season too. Heck- my list has items on it for our 'adopt a family' charity this year!

For those of you that shop BF online, do you remember what time Best Buy started offering the BF sales online last year? Also, is everything in the sales ad available online or is it only certain items?

There is only one item I want at Best Buy and would love to be able to purchase it online on BF.

My signature explains how I feel about BF... ;)

People think it's like the ridiculous news segments showing people stepping over each other and beating each other up. I personally have NEVER seen that in the 40 years I've done BF and believe me, I've lived in some ROUGH towns...

I love BF, it ENDS Thanksgiving and STARTS my favorite time of year!!:dance3:

I totally agree! I haven't seen or been a part of any of those ridiculous news segments. It's nothing but happy shoppers and I've done BF in 3 different states over the years.

I worked retail. I am BF shopper. I now work in healthcare.

I am VERY unhappy about this "open at 10 PM on Thanksgiving","open at midnight" etc.... Yes it's "greed" Not by the shoppers but by the merchants. My decision has been not to buy from the stores that do this stunt on BF. The deals aren't that good and I am not giving up my Thanksgiving so that they can make more money!

And I have watched some women go at it on BF so at least some of them are rude. And every year we have a few ER admits due to "fights" "pushing" etc.. generally just folks being rude and hurting each other...

Sorry, but as we tell our kids we are often judged by the company you keep. Keeping company with men and women who would stomp over Grandma to save $5 tars you with the same brush. Sad, but true!

WOW! Talk about being judgmental!

Have to agree. I don't do Black Friday shopping - just can't get into the crowds, etc. - but if somebody else wants to shop when a store is open, that's their choice, and there's nothing wrong with it. Some people really enjoy the "hunt", and with today's economy you certainly can't blame anyone for trying to get the most for their money.

I just wonder why people who DON'T like it even bother to read the threads?

Okay, we have never done BF. But, I think we are this year! We only want one item...the Target Ipod Touch with $40 gift card (and I have 10% off coupon, and $15 off $150). Too good to pass up!

Anyone want to give me any tips? Do you all think that's a hot ticket item? How early to get there? I'm not at all agressive, so I am hoping they hand out tickets like I read about here and you just go in and pay!

where did you find 10 off 25 for dicks?
I want one!

I can't speak for others, but in my case I get a good feel for how the prices are playing out. Plus, I learn more about what might be available via online purchasing. In addition to that, information regarding deals that aren't just on Black Friday are also mentioned. I first found out about the Kindle my daughter got at Best Buy on either this thread or another one on the Dis. I never even look at the BB ads so I would have missed it.

This was going to be my first time seriously trying to get something on BF. Our 32' TV is slowly but surely dying, so I was looking at the BF ads. I was interested in the Wal-Mart 40' TV for $250 and the Best Buy 42' TV for $200. From what I have been reading on here, it seems like it might not be worth the effort. I was planning on going to Best Buy around 9pm. Should I even bother? Saving $300 on a TV would be great, but might not be worth the stress and hassle.

What about Cyber Monday? Have there been good deals in the past on TVs? This is my first time trying to buy a big ticket item, and I figured BF would be a good chance for us to get it because of the deals even though its not a gift...

I live in a suburb of Buffalo, NY- not a huge town but not small either. By the time 9pm hits the lines will be hundreds deep. If you truly want that tv at Best Buy- you'd best get there by 2pm at the latest. People are ALREADY lining up at a BB down the street. They have TENTS!! If you have the extra 300, don't bother. It really depends on how much the savings is worth to you. If it's worth skipping Turkey dinner go for it! :)

... Michael's will be opening in the evening, and they put the candy melts that are normally $2.99, currently on sale for $1.99, on sale this weekend for $1.49, then they have a 30% off everything coupon. I use them to make candy pops for bake sales for all my kids' different events and several charities I work with. I'll end up buying them anyway, and $1.04 per bag is INSANE, and just in time for a big event I'm doing next Thursday.

TRU is still a maybe at 9pm, and all the rest of Black Friday is a "probably"... but 66% off something I plan to buy anyway... sorry, they got me :) If it's any consolation to those who don't want to see the businesses profit... I'm not a "profitable customer"... they won't be making scads of money off me...

OMG... I am not ready. I have not had time to look at all the ads and have to travel 4 hours tonight to the inlaws once we get off work, then get up and start cooking in the morning. How am I going to be ready to go shopping tomorrow night? :scared1:

OK I am breathing into a paper bag right now.
