Black friday buddies 2010 unite! BACK FROM THE TRENCHES POST YOUR WAR STORIES!

Last year we went to our Target first because they opened at 4am. We left Target by 4:40am and went across the street to Walmart. The sale items were not supposed to start until 5am. When I walked in the store it looked like a war zone. When I asked a clerk where all the BF stuff was he said that it was all gone. He said that people started tearing into things around 3am! I was a little upset to say the least. I felt like they should have been better prepared and had a plan in place to avoid just this thing.

Does anyone know how WalMart is going to handle the crowd so that the items that don't go on sale until 5am don't get ripped into at midnight? We will be there at midnight for several items, but am concerned that the same scenario will play out and people will be ripping into the things that don't go on sale until 5am.

I never get to do BF. I have no sitter for dd and noway would i take her. She'd slow me down-lol! Maybe I'll try online BF.

I'm looking for deals on....

1. paninni maker grill thingy. DD11 wants one. We went on a cruise and she loved the paninni sandwiches. Plus dh and I wouldnt mind having one.

2. just dance 2 for the wii.

any one know of any deals for the two items I mentioned???

Target has Just dance 2 for $39.99 and you get a $10 Target gift card free with it.

I ran up to Target this morning at 8 and it looked like BF, there were tons of people waiting outside to get in. Most of them were getting the netbook and DSi and they had them stocked at the front registers. Lucky for me, I was able to go right back to Electronics and grab the Xbox & Kinect, and the last 2 extra controllers :)

I'm soooo glad that I bought the netbook on Thursday....now to go back and get my price adjustment to the sale price! BTW...they have the white DSi available for ordering for the same price on target.com.

Then, you may want to check-out your local Big Lots when they open at 7:00 a.m.

In the "leaked" ad on BFads.net, BL is going to be selling entire season sets of certain CBS/CBS-produced TV series for only $6.00 a set.

And, from the looks of the photograph, there aren't "bottom of the barrel" TV series...

Thanks for the link. I haven't checked that ad yet. I will definitely be stopping by for Perry Mason

how does walmart online work on bf? can you put stuff in your cart before hand and then just check out or do I have to go do all that after midnight? the 2 things I NEED (itouch and dvd player) aren't online and if I can avoid being at walmart for 6hours I will.. lol I'll head over around 3am for those. Small towns are good for somethings.. this is one of them!

Last year the online sales started 12am pacific/3am eastern. I dont know if it will adjust the items in the cart. I just added it to my cart after the price changed.

Last year, I was able to have Walmart price match 2 things from TRU and 1 from Target with no problem. Just remember to take the ads in with you to show them.

I took advantage of this last year also. (and will again) What a lifesaver. I will avoid TRU at all costs. Just FYI for everyone; when you price match make sure you have the entire ad with you. I know its a pain to carry around. Last year the cashier searched the ad for the date on it. Apparently she had a person ahead of me in line who tried to use a ad from a previous year. She never found one and acted like she was doing me a favor by matching it. I know this is not common but it helps avoid any issues.

I was at Target this morning at 7:45 for the netbook. There were 4 people in front of me. But right around 8 am a lot of people showed up. Most seemed to be getting the Wii and the DSi. But the 4 people in front of me all wanted the netbook. Our store had NONE!! He called around and found some at a store about 20 minutes away. But they would not hold them for us. So we all took off to that store. I actually stopped at Walmart to see if I could get a price match, but they didn't have the same model. They had one that was very similar (same size screen, HD, etc.) but had Windows 7 instead of XP. So they wouldn't price match. So then I continued on to the other store. I was finally able to get the netbook at that store!

Wow! I went to my Target this morning to get the Epson printer. At about 7:50 there were only 5 other people waiting at the door. By 8, there were 10 or 12.

I think everybody got what they were there for; I saw them around the store after I had grabbed my printer off the shelf. I was the only one in line at the door for the printer.

I think it helped that a lot of people around here didn't seem to know about it. Our local newspaper does a free version that they deliver twice a week on the days with lots of ads. The free version did not include the Target ad today. :confused3

I'm glad you got it, but I'm surprised that under the circumstances they weren't willing to issue a raincheck. I know it says no rainchecks but thats if it sells out, they should make an exception when its not even in the store when the sale starts.
Our store had tons of them in Electronics and employees kept coming back to grab stacks of them to take the to the front registers.

We get our Target ad on Saturday so everyone knows about the sale the day before. Its also the only Target in our very populated area, I don't even want to be near there on Friday :scared1:

That is absolutely crazy! How could they have been so ill prepared? So glad you found one!

I got to my Target at 8am. I only went for the wireless mouse and the lapdesk w/ the slide out part for the mouse. Both were $12.99 originally $29. There was about 8 people surrounding the sales associate as she began taking out all of the netbooks they had out of the case. They were told to line up at the register to receive them there. I wasn't able to tell how many they had but I think everyone who was there was able to purchase one. More people came after and they called for someone to bring more out from the back so they had quite a few. I saw some people purchasing the Vizio tvs, wii's, and gps as well.

do i need to go to customer service for the match or the register

I just found out that it's likely to be quite cold here on Black Friday. I'm not sure about standing outside in the freezing weather....

Probably not as cold as here, the high that day is supposed to be about 17.

i was just going to post about the weather...those of you who are going out at O-dark-thirty on black friday, please be sure to check the weather and dress accordingly. our daily high temperature here in NE alabama is going to drop 20+ degrees from thanksgiving day to black friday, so it's going to be (what we consider) COLD!

I win, we are expecting -7 below zero on Wednesday evening and continuing through the weekend. I am re thinking my wait by the door at JoAnn's. I just can't do sub zero and standing.

The young, teenage cashier actually did try to issue a rain check for us. The register was programmed to not allow rainchecks.

Was able to get the netbook from Target this am. I was second in line and got one. They had plenty in stock. They brought out at least 20.

My question is what is the best deal on the Wii?? That is all DS6 wants.

Today at Target they seemed to be $199 and then use the $20 coupon in the ad and they ended up being $179. I noticed the people who used their Target credit card got an additional price off (I think 5%).
