Black Friday Buddies 2009 Unite! SCORE REPORTS, WAIT STORIES, HAULS FOR DAY!!

We went to Walmart last yr and b/c it's open 24 hrs it wasn't too bad. The main isles were roped off so you had to figure out where the item first on your list was and hang out in the isle by it so no running from the back of the store. I need 3 of the Nintendo DSlights that they have and they have the best deal. And if I put enough aside I want a Cricut Expression. I have the baby but would like the bigger one.

DH is getting me the Expression at WM and I am so excited!!!!:banana::banana::banana:

Has anyone gone to Office Max on BF? I want the laptop they're selling and was wondering if I should get there early? They open at 7.
Tell me more about the Office Max laptop :). I'm looking for one for my mom and the OM ad has been taken down.

Thanks for replying to my Old Navy question - I was afraid of this! :thumbsup2

Anyone know how Target does the Black Friday shopping? Will we be given tickets to the items advertised or is it first come, first serve once the doors open and everyone goes to grab what they want? I haven't been in several years... :scared:

Thanks!!
Heather

At the Target I go to a line forms outside one set of doors and employees do not open the other set of doors. People file into the store, but then it is dash and grab from there. At this store employees also stand in the parking lot to guard the line because unfortunately there are idiots who try to sit in their car until right before and then rush the line from there. :sad2: It is a little chaotic, but it has never been bad.

You will want to get there early. Not super early, but at least an hour.

Office Max has the Acer 10" Aspire One for $149. After reading the reviews for the KMart $119 one I figured it was not worth it and the Acer gets GREAT reviews.

I wanted to be at Target at 5, only a few things I want there, then I'll go to Office Max and chill. They're on the same street near me in Atlanta.

Thanks! 10" is too small for my mom. Plus ... I had a terrible problem with an Acer laptop. The good news is that they finally replaced the bad one and the replacement has been working great for almost 2 years.

Is there a site that will search the ads for the best prices on specific items? I'm trying to find a Lego Mindstorm, and don't see it listed in any of the ads.
Thanks so much!

does anyone remember if wal-mart's doorbusters were available online at midnight last year? i remember getting up at midnight and shopping at walmart.com, but i don't recall if the items i got were doorbusters or not. i really need one of the laptops they've got listed, but i'm not physically able to stand in line for hours. my knees just won't let me.

I was actually shopping there -- and the answer is "no"...

The way it worked at the 24-hour Supercenters, last year was Walmart had whole pallets of doorbuster merchandise placed along the main "racetrack" (retail parlance for the portion of the sales floor that circles the entire store) wrapped in black plastic and guarded by WM Associates.

When the clock struck 5:00 a.m., the Associates simultaneously unwrapped all the pallets, and the 2008 shopping season was officially underway...

Early press releases from Walmart have already states that all their U.S. stores -- both the Supercenters as well as the traditional discount stores -- will already be open 24 hours in the runup to Black Friday (except for those located in towns with ordinances against this sort of thing). I beleive this was largely spurred by the chaos/shopper's frenzy at a Long Island, NY WM Discount Store that ended-up killing one of their seasonal hires...

Oh...you meant online...guess I need more caffiene...

Has anyone seen any deals on smaller tv's (maybe 19 inch or so) ?
DD wants one for her dorm room next year. Two years ago, Target had a deal on one with a built in DVD player that I got for oldest DD's dorm and she loves it.

I've searched most of the ads on line and can't seem to find anything.

Thanks!

I was at Target last year, too (they opened at 6:00 a.m. in 2008 -- won't be able to do both stores, this year since both Target and Walmart get things going at 5:00 a.m.).

They did not give-out tickets for anything -- like WM, they had their most popular doorbuster merchandise (TV's, etc.) on pallets along the main racetrack. Prior to the doors being unlocked, Target's Asset Protection staff (uniformed security guards) passed-out customized store maps showing where the most popular items would be located along the sales floor.

As for certain "locked" electronics merchandise (video games, cameras, etc.) most of that was available at the electronics desk, which was staffed with multiple Team Members.

Many other items in the ad were in their respective departments on endcaps and very well-signed/easy to find.

I have never done Target on BF before, but there are a couple electronics things that I am interested in this year. Can I order online or do ?I have to be at the store to get them?

No, you can not -- other than the trademark bullseye branding, Target.com and Target the retail store share very little in common (the website is intended mainly as an outlet to get certain merchandise that can't be found in the stores).

In fact, Target won't even price-match items found on Target.com ...

anyone heard anything on Bath and Body's sale yet? I need to stock up on some soaps and lotions, plus I have a $10 off $30 coupon to use. thanks!

When do the BF hard-copy ads come out in the newspaper? We don't subscribe to one but I'll make sure to get that paper, esp to try to PM.

Is it usually on Thanksgiving or the Wednesday before or ...?

Thanks!

Has anyone seen the ad for Bergner's/Younkers yet? I got some really good deals there last year...hoping for some more this year!

The Thanksgiving paper is pretty thick with ads. Some come out before then. I usually get Walmart and Kmart a couple days beforehand.

Does Joann's typically do BF deals? I'm hoping to get my hands on some new fabric! :cool1:
