Wed qotd- What is one or more of your favorite disney memories?
WOW I have so many.
I'm going to list several that are in the running for the top.
One of the best doesn't include my family. How sad is that. But it was when I finished the Disney 1/2 Marathon in 2005. It really was a defining moment in my life and I'll never forget it, along with the memories of the wonderful WISH people I met that weekend.![]()
.
My favorite Disney moment is also finishing a Half Marathon -- this year's. I fell at the speed bumps as you enter MK, and my face was killing me, but I just kept going. I had no idea how bad I looked until I finished. But I got my medal, so I was happy! A few years ago, if I had fallen I would have looked for the nearest bus and headed back to the finish. Actually doing it on my own power, and fast enough to get a medal, showed how far I've come, and I am so proud of that. I may not be anywhere near a single digit size, but I am strong and getting stronger (and smaller!!!) all the time!

Ha - I feel your pain. I fell doing the Disney 1/2 marathon too in 2005. I feel down the hill going towards the bridge/ tunnel under Bay Lake towards MK & the Contemporary. I felt like such a dunce. I was trying to take a picture of the sign hanging on the bridge and hit an uneven pavement - doing all this while running, lol. People were so nice though - they stopped, made sure I was ok. Someone gave me a bandaid. I just got up said - I'm ok - put a bandaid on and kept running, lol.

On our last trip my son had made a tshirt with chip and dale on it, and and he wore it several days, and I carried it in my backpack the rest of the week and we never found chip and dale until the last morning and they were at the front of epcot. They made such a big deal out of seeing themselves on his shirt and he was soooo excited and proud. I was crying. Don't know if I would have been so emotional if it wasn't our last day, but he was just so thrilled. On his first trip when he was 4 the first characters we met were chip and dale on the way into MK, and they set the mood for him, teasing him and poking his head, and he just loved meeting characters that trip, which was awesome because he was scared of most of the rides.

I totally agree! I have never seen a controversial thread on this part of the boards, and never seen a reply to a thread that is not supportive here.I think WISHers are an optimistic bunch!![]()
Very cool. I also get filled up so much in disney world, it is such a magical place. I keep a journal when we are there, and our first trip my son was 4 turning 5, and in the journal I see reference to lots of little meltdowns, but they are all so vague in my memory, but the fun and magical memories are still so fresh. I love that place.I get lumps in my throat and all weepy all over the place at DL and WDW. I have so many good memories that it is hard to pick one. My son is very good at finding Hidden Mickeys so I have lots of good memories of him finding them all over. Also, last time we were at DL we were riding in the front of the monorail into the park and got to see all the lights on the castle and It's a Small World -- it was truly magical!
Lots of good memories. I love the ducks named Bob. Too cute.

I have two moments of my son's that stand out.
I think it was either 2005 or 2006, we were at AK and we were standing on the bridge in between EE and where Nemo was being built. The boat with the characters is coming by and Mickey is pointing towards my son. He announces "Mickey is pointing at ME". He was just beaming at pride thinking Mickey was making eye contact with him.
Another memory for my son is when he named a duck in MK Bob. The rest of the trip and to this day every Duck in WDW is named BOB. No matter how many of them there are or where we see them - There is Bob. When we went in March, my DD and I laughed every time we saw "Bob's".
As a family, one of the coolest moments was when we came for a trip in Nov. We had just arrived on our first day and it was afternoon. We headed straight for MK and we were on our way to do our first ride of the trip on Splash Mountain. As we were about to get in line, a CM stops us and asks have we ridden this yet. We told her not during this trip we just arrived. She said come with me and took us right up through the exit and got us on the next log. What a magical start to a vacation.
For my daughter - one year we searched for days and days for Daisy. That is all she wanted was to see Daisy. Finally on our last full day we got to see Daisy in MK. The look on her face was priceless.
Another one for my daughter was just the two of us going to Disney in March of this year for her cheerleading competition. Getting to see her perform at Wide World of Sports and place 2nd out of 11 other squads in her Division. It was so special. The special bonding we had getting to be there that weekend was priceless.
That is so awesome. Sounds like you were totally surprised. On my first trip to WDW, with my boyfriend, I was getting annoyed with him when we were in the little room getting a picture with Mickey, because he was asking the CM to take a little bit of video after we got on picture taken, and the people behind us were very impatient and wanted their turn. The CM said no, and when he pleaded, she said yes. Then my boyfriend got down on one knee and proposedMickey Mouse was the first one to congratulate me

I remember that parade at epcot. It was awesome. Hope the 3K went well last night. One of my favorite disney memories was when I went to WDW as a travel agent on a familiarization trip. We watched the parade and they had these giant abstract puppet type things that were manned by the person in matching colors underneath (you could see the person), and as it passed me it reached down its giant arm and patted me on the head. It was so neat to interact like that! Also that night we got special viewing for illuminations over in the italy section. They closed off the italy pier for us and had a sit down dessert bar for us as we watched Illuminations! So fun!
Tonight I am supposed to walk a 3K with my WW group. My back is a bit stiff so hopefully it will losen up by then for a more enjoyable walk!
They are so sweet and innocent.Mine include my ds also. When the pool lifeguards were leaving their stands for the night at ASMo, they said, "Good night, and may all your dreams come true." My ds came running over to me, stating that the man said that night ALL his dreams were gonna come true. How totally sweet and innocent.
Down 7 lbs as of this a.m. YAY
Have a magical day!!![]()
How amazing to have your wedding there. So cute to see the little ones kiss the big characters.
Our wedding trip to WDW - having 15 of our family and friends join us in "the World" was amazing. Taking my godsons on "It's A Small World" for the first time, hanging out at Jellyrolls with our bridal party, our rehearsal dinner at Chef Mickey's.
Taking DD1 on her first trip last October. She had a cold and was overwhelmed by everything, but seeing her interact with Mickey, Minnie & the Little Einsteins characters was amazing. Without being prompted, she gave Minnie - the first full body costume she'd seen - a kiss on the nose.
Love this story, Dona. When your son is ready to propose to some one, way in the future, I can envision disney in his proposal.Ds2's first movie was Beauty and the Beast. He started to cry during the ballroom scene but I stood in the back and rocked him and he quieted down. His first Broadway show was B&B. He was only about 4 but it was fun to watchh him since he was watching the with such an intensity. When B&B was getting ready to close he asked if we could see it again. This time he has spent 3 years working crew in the school's musicals. It was so much fun as he was wondering how they did things and how things moved. we were talking so much pointing things out to each other that I thought my dh was going to get mad. One month later his school announced the B&B would be the show for his senior year. He was made co-stage manager and worked his tail off for several months. The show won many local awards including best scenery(which he helped build and paint) and best musical.

Babies are so funny with the characters. I can't wait to get back too.It is great to read about everyone's disney memories. I have so many it is hard to think of my favorite. One of them was when my son was about 2 months old and we went to Mickey's toon town to see the characters. He cried and cried when chip and dale were there, but we went to see Daisy duck and he was in love. I have a picture of Daisy sitting on the ground rocking BJ. It is so sweet.
I can't wait to go back and make some more memories!
Awww. Thats great.[my middle daughter ( now 11 years old)--- crawled for the first time in our disney resort room---
It is so nice to take some down time and just enjoy each other's company. One of my best memories is from that same trip. After the 1/2 Marathon, my older sister came down and joined me at WDW for a few days. This is the "what...ANOTHER trip to Disney World?" sister.Well, she came down and I showed her the 'kinder/gentler' side of Disney. Best memory with her is sitting on the patio at the Brown Derby, eating Cobb Salad and Grapefruit Cake and just watching the folks go by. She was so relaxed and happy.

Ouch. Good fo ryou for getting up and finishing. What an accomplishment. My favorite Disney moment is also finishing a Half Marathon -- this year's. I can so picture this. I have a hard time walking and trying to take pictures sometimes, can't imagine running.Ha - I feel your pain. I fell doing the Disney 1/2 marathon too in 2005. I feel down the hill going towards the bridge/ tunnel under Bay Lake towards MK & the Contemporary. I felt like such a dunce. What amazing memories for you. I think I should sign my son up for the college program now, he's in first grade. What do you think?QOTD: It's a tie from the time I found out I was being trained for the opening float of Share a Dream Come True Parade and later the Disney Dreams Come True Parade and the getting a chance to perform a starring role in Celebrate the Season.
I had always dreamed of being in a parade when I worked entertainment, but many CPs are never trained. I remember sitting at the computer to view my schedule and saw that I was being trained for the first float in Share a Dream Come True Parade! This was not a role I was technically eligible for so it was complete shock. I had gone to enough "professional development" workshops held by staging that they knew I was capable of it!
Out of 10 people, I was one of only two CPs and the only CP to get approved. I had also been trained in another part of the parade called the flood (ground characters who dance.) The day we did our float training we were told that we could call and see if they needed anybody for the flood. Well... when I did they told me they didn't think the person scheduled for the first float would be in and if I was willing to hang out in case she called in, they could find out from staging if I was approved and I might be able to perform it that day! Well... She did call in and I was approved and was able to perform it that day! It was truly a magical experience. She ended up leaving the company, which meant that they needed somebody to perform there a lot. Since full timers can be cast in a role or choose where they work (casting is every 6 months) many already had other roles they performed during those days, so I ended up getting to do it a lot!
When we switched parades I was not originally on the training list because they were not going to train interns. But I called the manager to discuss another issue with her and when she found out I wasn't on the list (she asked) she put me on the training list for the first and second floats and flood (which effectively added two roles to what I already did!) Because of scheduling I was scheduled to close the first float for Share a Dream Come True Parade and open it the next day in the Disney Dreams Come True Parade! The day we closed SADCT, the girl who performed my role on opening day of the parade came up to me and said, "Opening _______ to closing ______, have a good parade." This was very special to me as there was quite a bit of drama about the fact a CP was performing that particular role on opening day (although those who knew me were apparently defending me.)
Then for Celebrate the Season I was surprised again when I was cast in the role with the most stage time. I was already doing Stitch's Cosmic Dance Party for Halloween and we had been told if you did something for Halloween you would not get to do anything for Christmas. I never once in a million years dreamed I would get to do a castle show, much less have what was essentially the starring role! I loved it. I was able to perform it opening night of the party and Jeff Lang taped it for his WDW Christmas DVD. We have that DVD. It was very special to me and I still talk to several of the people I performed with.
I bet the lasagna was right about there, if it was average lasagna. WW has a 4"x2.5" piece or one cup of meat lasagne listed as 6 points which would be prob 300-350 calories.QOTD--Fvorite Disney Memory
Mine is of my first time watching the Disney Fireworks with my mother--on Independance Day. It was wonderful!
Well, I'm keeping fingers crossed that I didn't go over my points today. I ate super-well for breakfast and lunch so I had a 1000 calorie allowance for dinner. I had:
Lasagna, a piece about the size of my fist
Some garden salad and soe Caesar salad (probably about 200 calories worth with the dressing)
A half breadstick (which I know was 90 calories)
a very small piece of birthday cake
I don't know how many calories are in lasagna--I think the piece of cake was about 250 calories. So, if that lasagna was more than 400-450 calories, I went over. I guess it would even out if I hopped on the exercise machine, though ... better get crackin'!
!
We discovered the tta this past january, and my son who may never get the courage to go on space mountain loved it because we went through space mountain. My favorite Disney Memory was when I rode Space Mountain for the first time in 1981. I was riding the TTA through Space Mountain trying to see what the Coaster Track looks like but being dark as it was You can bearly see it . But when I rode Space mountain for the first time I loved every minute of it. In 2000 I saw what the inside of Space Mountain looked like with the lights on for the first time. I was amaized at how A Coaster can be put inside A Building
