BL Summer Challenge 2009

A side-note regarding the kitchen sink - we did get one one time and it was fun, but SO much ice cream, but we'll probably never get another one because it just seemed like too many competing flavors. The mint chip, strawberry, coffee ice cream combo with the pineapple sauce etc. etc. just didn't agree with me, I guess. :confused3
QUOTE]

Oh, we definitely agree about some of the flavors. We customize the kitchen sink by keeping some of the fruity stuff and certain flavors out. We didn't like some of the combinations either. There are 5 of us and only 8 scoops of ice cream. It seems like the price hasn't gone up much over the years, but I think instead they don't pile the extra toppings on quite so high (like the candy, brownies, cake, bananas, etc.). The last time we got it at about 5pm and hadn't had dinner, so we really didn't walk out of there super stuffed.

Oooh, I need to apologize now. This doesn't seem like a good thing for me to be talking about on a weight loss thread. I hope I didn't make everyone too hungry! Please forgive me! :worship:

I've been strong and passed on ice cream twice today.

We had an ice cream/soft pretzel social after a face to face meeting with our division President. I didn't get to go on time, and I ended up having too much to do and just decided not to go and not be tempted for the ice cream or pretzels.

Tonight I had a Klondike in my hand - but it was about 260 calories - yikes I put it back.

(thanks to Dare2Dream! I have borrowed her writing and just modified it!)

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers and click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet.

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 2? To keep it simple, I’ll list the Top 10 Losers! There was lots of ties in the top 10, so there's actually more than 10 names on the list. That criteria may change from week to week. Hey I'm in charge here and I get paid nothin' to do this so you better take what you can get!;);):rotfl:

Congrats to all our big losers! I knew I wouldn't be on the list, since I had a gain last week, but it still made me sad not to see my name. Guess I'll be working even harder this week to make sure I see myself on the list next time! It is a crazy busy week for me... so I'll have to work extra hard to make sure I get in my exercise......................P

Thanks Melanie! That's better!

Good job Losers! We just started another Biggest Loser at work yesterday. I've got 39 people participating in this 8 week program. There's a lot of losing going on...

Good morning fellow losers, and a big congratulations to all the top losers this week!!!:cool1::banana::cool1::banana::cool1:

So inspiring to keep me on the right track.

I only have a few minutes this morning, and my computer is running real slow for some reason, but I read through all the threads. Looks like lots of us are coming upon food challenges and turning them down! Nice work everyone!!
I don't mind the talk about the kitchen sink, since I can't go get one right now, it's not a temptation.

Pjlla, many times yesterday I thought of what you said- "I can control what I eat" at a time when so much is out of my control, and I did really well yesterday. So thank you. I've thought of all of you throughout the day, and I am so determined to keep on track.

Tuesday qotd= Do you have any inspirational quotes you think of to help you keep on track when there are temptations, or you just aren't feeling motivated?
My favorite that I think of often, is " Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels." I think it's one I probably heard 20 years ago the first time i did ww, and it always comes back to me. Some times it comes to me after i've eaten way too much, but sometimes it stops the binge.

I also just heard this one " Better to laugh and giggle, than to eat more and jiggle." I got a chuckle out of that, unfortunately a jiggly chuckle, but I'm working on that.

Hope everyone has a super on program day!!

morning everyone! CYBER HIGH FIVE spacmtn!!!!! WTG!

and :cheer2: to ALL the losers and maintainers! rock on!

i was up a pound too :sad1:, not surprising, i have not been writing down my calories like a good girl. just starting final week of Making the Cut program and i'll say now i'm almost starting to enjoy the workouts. they are intense, and i still can't do the TM at the speed and inclines listed, but i really push myself and that's the goal

we have been talking about getting a kitchen sink in Aug while we are at the Swan.....we have done ice cream for lunch too! hey, it's vacation. answering that QOTD-- i'm horrible about staying OP on vacations, absolutely horrible!

my fav restaraunt is Boma. Though i'm looking forward to trying Artist Point, 1900 Park fare character breakfast, and return trips to 50's and Citrico's

can't think of a quote right now, but love that jiggle one!

onward and downward! :cool1::cool1:

Good morning, losers! A great big congratulations to all who made the list and to our biggest loser, SpaceMtnFan! :cool1:

I was happy to finally be on the losing list because last challenge I maintained the whole time (or pretty darn close). I am really determined to lose every single week this round.

Oh by the way, I joined sparkpeople.com this weekend, and it is wonderful! I am loving it. Journaling my food and calorie intake on the website has really kept me focused and motivated! Plus I am finding some good looking recipes on there that I look forward to trying!

Oh, I love sparkpeople for all of the great emails that they send.

Oooh, I need to apologize now. This doesn't seem like a good thing for me to be talking about on a weight loss thread. I hope I didn't make everyone too hungry! Please forgive me! :worship:

Nah! I am sure with all our healthy habits we would all take three bites of the kitchen sink, put our spoons down and say "oh, that was just right." :lmao: No, really, we do need to learn how to cope with real life temptations and to know when sometimes we just have to indulge and have fun -- it's called living!

I've been strong and passed on ice cream twice today.

I love popsicles and fudgesicles for those ice cream cravings, especially the sugar free ones. I used to make some great pops with my son with just orange juice. Have to find the popsicles sticks and ice cube tray.

I enjoyed grabbing my 10 pound clippie today!:goodvibes

That clippie looks good on you, Jackie!

Congrats to all our big losers! I knew I wouldn't be on the list, since I had a gain last week, but it still made me sad not to see my name. As I recall your gain was .6 and he and he brother 1.0 are going to be history thanks to your hard work.

Yes, I've heard that one quote for a long time. It's an oldie but a goodie. The proverb "Fall down seven times, get up eight" has been my mantra recently. I also like one of the quotes that I think Maria gave us: "dead last finish is better than did not finish is better than did not start." But lately I've enjoyed this one "Listen to all, plucking a feather from every passing goose, but follow no one absolutely." - Chinese proverb. I think it's supposed to mean that everyone you encounter can teach you something but thinking about plucking passing gooses makes me giggle. I like your wiggle/giggle quote, too, Kathy. :goodvibes

Congratulations SpaceMtnFan! :cheer2::yay:

And congratulations to everyone else who made the top 10! :yay:

I'm getting closer to being back where I was before the shower on Saturday. I have a feeling that day is going to haunt me this week, but you never know. I'm just going to keep trudging along and Sunday to now has been good so I'm going to keep on trucking.

This weekend we are going to another Nascar race in the Pocono's, but since I did well this past weekend at the race I know I can do well this week.

Oops - almost forgot this:

Tuesday qotd= Do you have any inspirational quotes you think of to help you keep on track when there are temptations, or you just aren't feeling motivated?

The one I think of most often is - It's a Journey not a destination. This is so true, and even though I know it - it hasn't stopped me from thinking it's a destination.

Melanie, can you please tell me where in store you find tahini paste? I don't have a Trader Joe's or anything like that where I live. I looked at Safeway today in the beans section and then with some of the more exotic (to Safeway ;)) foods. I don't have clue where else to look and the person that I asked looked at me like WTH? :confused3 Thanks!

Favorite WDW restaurant is Columbia Harbor House - they have a fab salad there!

As for excersize, I have been doing the precor machine at the gym - it is a cross between a step machine and a treadmill. I keep motivated by the fact that my birthday is coming up and, I know this will sound bad, but by the fact that if I go to the gym, my kids won't be trying to get my attention every 2 seconds. It is me time.

A saying that keeps me going, especially the morning after an over points day is "Tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it". I heard it on one of my favorite movies - Anne of Green Gables.

Have a great day everyone!

Sarah

Tuesday qotd= Do you have any inspirational quotes you think of to help you keep on track when there are temptations, or you just aren't feeling motivated?

I can never remember any of these. I'm not that excited about the ones that rhyme (they kind of make me groan, really) but they are memorable. "If you bite it, write it," "A moment on the lips, forever on the hips." "Beer before liquor, never sicker." "Thirty days hath September, April, June and November."

Here's one I found recently. It's not a catchy little jingle, but it's a chunk of wisdom that is speaking to me right now:

"If you want something bad enough, you will do the work."

It's from a woman I saw at a race this spring and have started reading her continuing healthy journey online. Her blog is at Priorfatgirl.com.

At Whole foods I get by the peanut butters. At my giant store I get it in the organic/health food section.

It really should be by the peanut butters and stuff like that unless the stores have a seperate section. Its basically a sunflower paste.

I hope you find it.

I am feeling really big right now. Granted, I am pretty large, but normally I don't feel that way. I feel weighted down. I think part of it is I am sleepy and just had a large, more points than usual at lunch meal. I don't like the feeling though.
