BL Summer Challenge 2009

Sunday qotd- What is your favorite wdw restaurant?

For character dining I love Crystal Palace as well.

For counter service, I love the Mickey Shaped waffles you can get at the food courts. YUMMY!!!

Going to lay by the pool today. :woohoo:

Qotd:
When I went to WDW in April we were in the middle of BL7. We were trying out some new restaurants and I wasn't going to deprive myself! I looked at menus for quick service before we left and had some ideas as to where I could get a lower cal meal. I pretty much ate around the one awesome meal we were having most days and tried to be good the rest of the day. One day my whole family decided to get ice cream and I got one of those huge pickles. It's not ice cream, but I love those things and I was satisfied! I took my scale with and I got up and walked while all my lazy boys were still sleeping in the morning. I felt like I ate very well on the trip, but I was back to my starting weight within one week of returning and we had been away from home for 12 nights! It worked very well. If I had not been concious of my eating I probably would have gained five to seven pounds! :woohoo:

Qotd:
We have a lot of restaurants we love and I don't know how to pick. We tried some off site spots in April and the kids favorite was Texas de Brazil, the brazilian steakhouse. You have a little disk at your seat that is green on one side and red on the other. The servers keep bringing you skewers of grilled meat until you get full or want to rest and you put the red side up. There was also potatoes, soups and a huge salad bar. It was really good. It is normally $50 per person, but they are open on Fridays for lunch and the price is $25 for adults. The only thing missing at lunch is the filet mignon, but they have other steaks that were very tasty.

Sometimes we also go to Beaches & Cream and share a Kitchen Sink sundae for lunch! Who can beat ice cream for lunch!:cheer2:

I have not had a good day eating wise. We got some bad news about my mom, and have had a stressful day. She was diagnosed with lung cancer, and there's lots more testing to figure out how advanced, and staging, etc, but it's emotionally draining. I initially had done ok, up to see her this morning, and then to baseball with my son, and really was planning not to turn to food, but this afternoon, ended up at my sisters house, all just sitting around and a box of chips ahoy cookies came around, and I downed about 8 of them, and then later they ordered pizza, but I only had a slice and a half. I thought for a little bit, that I would ask someone else to take over coaching, but I think it will be good for me to continue this week, and hopefully will help to keep me on track. So I'll at least check in daily and have a qotd every morning, and with all your help and support, I'll get through this without gaining any weight. (realistically, this week anyway, I'll be happy with a maintain.)

Hope you're all enjoying the weekend.

I'm so sorry that your Mom is not well. I will definitely include you and her in my prayers today.

As hard as it is right now, you need to remember that overeating is only going to make you feel WORSE in the long run. You can't control your mom's health... you can't control how she is feeling or what the doctors will tell you. But you CAN control what you eat and how much. You can control if and how much you exercise. During this time of out-of-control stress you need to be able to control SOMETHING.... so let it be your food. Definitely easier said than done, I'm sure, but something to keep in the back of your mind.

Sunday qotd- What is your favorite wdw restaurant?

I'm going to have to say Chef Mickey's. There are LOTS of restaurants that we haven't tried. We aren't big on expensive, sit-down meals... we like to spend our time on the rides and such and find the sit-down restaurants to be time consuming (and pricey), so I am sure that there are plenty of excellent restaurants that I have never tried. But we do love our dinner at Chef Mickey's. And I have had some excellent food there too!...........P

Good morning, losers!

Kathy, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom and am sending you and your family good wishes, thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery! Your WISH friends are here for you. :grouphug:

It will be interesting to see how many steps I log at DL. It is much more compact that WDW but think I will be surprised. I remember TammyNC and donac have worn pedometers and logged quite a few steps at WDW.

Karen, a day by the pool sounds very relaxing. :beach:

Sunday qotd- What is your favorite wdw restaurant?

My favorite WDW restaurant is Jiko. I love everything about it from the little "fires" that line the driveway to the AKL, to the lobby of the AKL, to the food. We always have the Taste of Africa appetizer and I ususally have some fish. I also like the South African wines there. We will be there for Christmas Eve this year.

I am off to America's favorite retailer to get some staples. If I leave now I will be there at 6:30 a.m. and it is a much more pleasant time to shop. Later today, we will see UP and have lunch out. I already planned to have a salad for lunch.

Have a great day losers!

Sunday qotd- What is your favorite wdw restaurant?

My favorite WDW restaurant -- I have one for breakfast and another one for dinner. I love breakfast at O'hana. I don't need the character meal (although I think it's one of the better ones), I just love the family style breakfast offerings. My dinner favorite is Boma. I love the fantastic variety and the soups!

Sunday qotd- What is your favorite wdw restaurant?

We just love the Scifi Dinner at MGM and the Pepper Market at Coronado Springs

Hey everyone...I had the best dinner last night...Lipton chicken! So easy! I originally got the recipe from WW and thought you all might like in.

1 lb frozen chicken breast
1 can 99% ff cream of chicken soup
6 oz ff sour cream
1 packet Lipton Onion soup mix

Put everything in a crockpot and cook on low for 5 hours plus (yes, the chicken should be frozen). Mix if you can (if you want to leave it while you are at work, though, that is fine...I do it all the time.)

Serve over pasta...For WW this works out to about 6 points for 1/4 of what this makes plus however much pasta you choose to put it on! Love it! Hope you all have a great day!

WE CAN DO THIS! WE WILL DO THIS!

Sarah

Thanks-- I just ahppen to have all those ingredients and chicken almost thawed....

Sunday qotd- What is your favorite wdw restaurant?

Wow, this is a hard question. I don't really have a favorite, but we really love
Chef Mickey's, Sci Fi Drive-in, & Whispering Canyons Cafe. I wish I had a trip planned this year so I could try out some of everyone else's favs. Oh well, maybe next year

Mikamah - I hope things go well for your mom, and this thread helps you handle the stress. :grouphug:

Sunday qotd- What is your favorite wdw restaurant?

I'm not sure what's my favourite at WDW, but at DL it is definitely Bengal BBQ!

Kathy So sorry to hear about your mom. Your family will be in my prayers.

Lisa I did wear a pedometer last time I went to Dw and one day I even hit 25000 steps. ANd remember that I have a bad ankle and we either took an afternoon back at the room or got back to the room in the early evening and had dinner at the food court and then back to the room to ice my ankle and watch the olympics.

I spent yesterday morning planting my garden. I didn't plant anything last year so it was nice to plant this year. I put in tomatoes and pepers and some basil. I also put in some flowers. I still have some flowers to get and put in and I still want to get some baskets to hang.

Last night we went over to a friends house. We pot lucked dinner and then went in their hot tub probably the last time until fall. We also finished the socks she was knitting for her husband. She will give them to im for Father's Day.

This morning I went to church and then grocery shopping. I also bought my new laptop.:banana:. I am using it right now. I got a great buy at Staples.

I still have to decide on dinner tonight. It is just dh and I. Ds's are both working until 7. Ds2 looked very handsome Friday night in his tux. He and his date made a cute couple.

Sunday qotd- What is your favorite wdw restaurant?

Trails End in FW We love to camp and it the place to eat in FW. I also love Sci Fi for the atmosphere

HAve a great day everyone.

Sunday qotd- What is your favorite wdw restaurant?

I'm not sure what's my favourite at WDW, but at DL it is definitely Bengal BBQ!

Oh, I love Bengal BBQ at DL also (love the bacon wrapped asparagus):lovestruc I stop there every trip.

My favorite WDW restaurant must be Boma, as I eat there every trip!:lmao:
In Sept we are going for the first time to Citrico's and to Kona Cafe for dinner (I've done Kona breakfast) and I'm very looking forward to those. I'm a big LeCellier fan too! Get to make my ADR's next Saturday...wish me luck!

Which segues nicely to the previous QOTD. I've almost always LOST weight on my WDW and DCL trips. I'm sure it's because I'm more physically active, and (in the PAST) I was often eating more wholesome or high end meals than I did at home. (Convenience foods and long hours in a chair were easy to improve upon.) This time I will be traveling with a Weight Watchers leader! So we will have our lovely table service meal of whatever we want, preparing breakfast (except for one) at the villa and being VERY conscientious of what is eaten the rest of the day. A nice discovery is that a DOLE WHIP is only 3 WW points! :thumbsup2 There's my treat!

Oh, Trails End is a hidden gem, isn't it? This trip we are having "Cook & Cater" night. Making spaghetti in the villa (Wilderness Lodge), supplemented with a 10 piece chicken dinner from Trails End 'to go' (cooking for a group). It's our mid-trip relaxation day.

I work with Boy Scout Popcorn and they send out emails all the time. The company name is Trails End. Everytime I get an email from them I get excited until I remember who it is from

Kathy - I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. Hugs!

Ugh - not a great weekend for my weigh loss plan. DH and I are both sick with allergies/cold - no energy to exercise. Can't even take a nice walk outside because of how high the pollen is here. I really wanted to make up for my Applebee's over-cal meal with some exercise. Oh well. On the positive side, I was only 90 cals over my goal yesterday, despite not having the energy to track cals while I was eating. Today I should be on calories even without working out.

Sounds like everyone else is doing really well this weekend. Keep up the good work!

Saturday qotd- When you go on vacation to WDW or elsewhere, do you stick to your weight loss plan completely, forget about it all together, or do something in between?
I almost forget about weight loss plan at WDW, but not as much elsewhere. At WDW, I eat pretty much what I want, but don't totally splurge overboard. Said another way, I eat what I want at meals and 1 or 2 snacks, but I'm not getting desserts twice a day or eating a big sit-down breakfast every morning.
I've been traveling A LOT for work the past few months - not a vacation, but still dining out for every meal. I've tried to stay on plan, but all our meals are at non-chain restaurants or food is ordered in to our meetings. There is only so much I can do when a bunch of Indian or Thai food shows up as lunch. Hard to track cals on unknown foods. I take small portions and stay away from fried, then do my best to guess calories by searching the dishes online. And I always make time to work out at the hotel gym. ;)

Sunday QOTD - Fave WDW restaurant?
DH and I go to Rose & Crown every time we're in WDW. It's tradition. ;) But now that they got rid of my fave meal, I'm not sure what restaurant is my favorite. We really like Boma for dinner.

Today's QOTD is:

What is one healthy change that you made that you thought would be SO HARD, but is now part of your regular routine??
I have to go with drinking more water. I still usually don't get in 8 glasses I usually drink 4 or 5.

Today's QOTD is:
If all of your responsibilities were taken care of for 72 hours, what hobby or sport or activity (other than traveling) would you indulge in during that time?
Reading defiently! I love to wake up in the summer time eat breakfast and then sit in bed and read for about 30min to an hour. it's such a relaxing way to start the day.
Good Thursday Afternoon

It is that time of the week for the COW to appear. I hope you have been keeping up.

Sometime this weekend please pm your COW points to me.

COW 2

THis week's COW starts on today 5/29/09 and will run until midnight Thursday 6/4/09. It will be an easy COW since we are all just getting started.

YOu get 1 point for each day you follow the COW

This week will start easy

Drink 8 glasses of water (1 point for each day)
Eat 2 servings of veggies (1 point for each day)
Eat 2 pieces of fruit (1 point for each day)
Do 2000 steps or 15 minutes of exercise (1 point for each day)
Do 5 minutes a day on something you like to do (1 point each day)

On Friday 6/5/09 send me

XX days drinking water
XX days eating 2 serving of veggies
XX days eating 2 pieces of fruit.
XX days of steps or exercise
XX days of 5 minutes doing something you like to do

Thanks and enjoy the COW

Do you do not have to do the entire COW. You can do bits and pieces of it that work into your plan. It is just there to motivate you and to help you think about developing new habits. THis will be a progressive thing. As the weeks go on I will be adding to these new habits. For next week you might want to find or get a pedometer, it might come in handy.

HAve fun with this.
Now I have to go dig out my pedometer. I want to take it to Disney when we go. I bet I'll rake up a lot of steps there.
Friday qotd - How often to you weigh yourself, and how does that help or hinder your ability to stay on track?
I weigh myself whenever I get on the wii and I get on the bathroom scale once or twice a week. It helps me if the numbers are going down, but if they're going up it annoys me.

Saturday qotd- When you go on vacation to WDW or elsewhere, do you stick to your weight loss plan completely, forget about it all together, or do something in between?
Forget about it completely:rolleyes1
Sunday qotd- What is your favorite wdw restaurant?

Pirate y Perico and Pecos Bill's are my favorites. We are doing 2 TS restaurants this trip!!:cheer2:

I wasn't a very good BL particapant last week but, this week I'm going to do better. I finally didn't have to take any meds this morning for my cold. I hope we all have a great week!:flower3:

Lisa I did wear a pedometer last time I went to Dw and one day I even hit 25000 steps. ANd remember that I have a bad ankle and we either took an afternoon back at the room or got back to the room in the early evening and had dinner at the food court and then back to the room to ice my ankle and watch the olympics.

I remembered that and I it is amazing! :thumbsup2 I don't think I can log that many steps at DL in one day but I will keep track and let you know. Thanks to my orthotics I won't be limping around due to plantar faciitis like I have my last two trips. :goodvibes

A nice discovery is that a DOLE WHIP is only 3 WW points! :thumbsup2 There's my treat!

Thank you so much for telling me this, Jackie! I will have a Dole Whip toast to you week after next. :drinking1

Can't even take a nice walk outside because of how high the pollen is here.

We have the same problem here. We just gave up and closed the house up and turned on the a/c. It is a bit of a disappointment after waiting so long for the nice weather to have to shut it out. :sad2: Luckily it doesn't stay too long. We walked in the evening and then took a shower.

Sleeping Beauty, I am glad that you are feeling better. :flower3:

We saw UP today. It was cute. It is amazing how much the computer animation has improved since Toy Story came out.

Hi everyone,

I hope it is not to late to join. I'm 39 years old I have a DD14 and DS12. I need to lose 50lbs. I work full time at a bank and spend most of my day sitting in front of a computer.:surfweb: My husband lost 50 about 2 years ago and has maintained his loss. I gained back all 20 of the pounds I had lost within a year.

We are going to WDW for 10 days at the end of this summer. I would love to wear my size 12 shorts when I'm there. When we are on vacation I find that I do not over eat because there is no stress when I'm on vacation.

I would like to join also, if it is not too late. I would like to drop 3-4 sizes before my trip in September and /or lose about 40-50 pounds. Right now, I'm a size 14-16.

I wasn't an overweight kid..just the other day, I found a mini-skirt I used to wear in my 20's and it was a size 6!!!:scared1:

I was doing well with weight loss a few months ago, but I had an illness for which I was taking Prednisone..Prednisone gives me a ravenous appetite so I backslid..not completely, but enough to make me feel bad.

Good luck to all here!

Oh, I love Bengal BBQ at DL also (love the bacon wrapped asparagus):lovestruc I stop there every trip.

I've tried making it at home, but it doesn't take as good.

:welcome: Riverhill & luvthemouse71. Just PM me your starting weights, and then try to send your weekly weights in on Fridays. I post the weekly top losers on Tuesday, just to have a couple days room for late results.

I am a bit late for this but I hope this is ok

Thursday QOTD

Today's QOTD is:

If all of your responsibilities were taken care of for 72 hours, what hobby or sport or activity (other than traveling) would you indulge in during that time?

P

Surfing the internet is the hobby I tend to indulge in whenever I get a chance

Friday qotd - How often to you weigh yourself, and how does that help or hinder your ability to stay on track?

I try to only get my weight at WW, however, I tend to get on the scales more often. If I have a bad day food wise I go on the scales and see the results and all of a sudden that 4th bar of chocolate doesn’t seem necessary anymore.

Saturday qotd- When you go on vacation to WDW or elsewhere, do you stick to your weight loss plan completely, forget about it all together, or do something in between?

Nope, when at WDW I eat whatever I want. I live in the UK so all this gorgeous American food is too much to resist. However, I love American salads and I get a lot more exercise on vacation than I normally would so unbelievably I tend to lose weight when I go to WDW.

Sunday qotd- What is your favorite wdw restaurant?

I haven’t eaten at many WDW restaurants because we usually stay off site but I love Spoodles. It’s a shame it is going. I am looking forward to next year though as I may be able to convince DH to agree to Deluxe Dining Plan. Anyone who says that you can’t eat that much food in a day has never met me!! lol

COW 1

THis week's COW starts on today 5/22/09 and will run until midnight Thursday 5/28/09. It will be an easy COW since we are all just getting started.

You get 1 point for each day you follow the COW

This week will start easy

Drink 8 glasses of water (1 point for each day)
Eat 2 servings of veggies (1 point for each day)
East 2 pieces of fruit (1 point for each day)

On Friday send me

7 days drinking water
6 days eating 2 serving of veggies
4 days eating 2 pieces of fruit.

Thanks and enjoy the COW

Water is no problem for me. I drink a 1.5 litre bottle at work every day.

It is a particularly bad day when I don’t get enough veggies. I love vegetables. Very strange, I know.

Now, fruit is where we hit a problem. I am not a fan at all. I will eat it occasionally but I have to make a real concerted effort to eat 2-3 portions a day. I have been trying hard however and have managed it better than I thought I would.

WEIGHT LOSS

I have lost 2.5 pounds this week. This brings me down to 201.5 pounds. I am going away for the weekend in a few weeks and I want to hit my 5% goal by then. If I lose another 2.5 this week I will get my silver 7. Then I have 2 weeks to lose 3 pounds. It’ll be tough but I hope I can do it.
