BL challenge ~ BLUE TEAM ~ week 4

DH called me at work today and said he had a present. He wouldn't tell me what it was. I walked in the door and no one was home. Hmm - nothing in the kitchen but salsa and a newly framed picture of my son's football picture - hmm could that be it - both are nice - but geez - don't call me at work and get me excited.

Walked in my bedroom and there was a WII Fit sitting on my bed. I've been trying to find one since they came out and we have had no luck. Always - sorry, we have none.
He walked in to Best Buy and they had 5 today - so he picked it up for me.

So everyone went to the HS football game (and well I should have too since DD16 was cheering, but I go to all the Competition's - and it's cold and I need a Friday night to relax).

I just spent the last hour (well probably more like 2 hours) - but I logged 60 actual piggy bank minutes on the WII Fit. Wow what a fun way to get some exercise. Was it all out the same as putting in a regular exercise DVD - no, but I know the hulu hooping was really getting me tired and I had a light sweat going. I tried out a little of everything and had fun. The time went fast and didn't seem like I was working out. It was better than just sitting on my butt watching TV.

I also went on Amazon and pre-ordered Jillian Michaels WII Fit game that is coming out October 28th. Yeah - can't wait for her to kick my MII butt!! haha

Doing great - I told DH if he ordered pizza that I wasn't eating it - he didn't order since DD16 was gone and I wasn't eating it (see saved us money, lol). I was so glad I had DH's homemade salsa because I had an avocado with my name all over it and it made the best gaucamole -YUMMO! Off to figure out how many calories I ate for the day and make sure I didn't eat too little.

I've gotten 4 cups of water down - I'm going to go get one more bottle and get that down before I go to bed to make my 6 cups.

I am down 11 lbs so far. I am 200 even today. I want to get into those 190's, then the 180's then the 170's. Baby steps...197 for next week is my goal.
I didn't work out at all the whole week-I have a horrible sinus infection that I'm still battling, I should be good to go by Monday again though!
Becuase of the illness I didn't try anything new (honestly had a tough time choking anything down at all!)

Thanks to everyone here for your support and encouragement thorugh your disclosures and cheers!

From last night on the old thread:
Well, I just totally blew it. I guess I have to start my explanation by answering the question of the day: For me the biggest challenge is low blood sugar. One of the symptoms is intense hunger, and when you go low, you have to eat something to treat it.

I was did well all day, and then all of a sudden a I was getting ready for bed, I started feeling like crap. I checked my sugar and it was 59. (Anything below 70 or in the 70's is low. Below 50 is seek medical attention low.) I had my glucoshot, basically a mini beverage with 15 grams of glucose. I tested again and it was above 73, but I still feel like crap. Now that it is sort of back where it belongs, I have to eat something so it doesn't dip again, so I got out the remains of my dinner.

I'm about to cry. I feel horrible, and this is going to blow my points right out of the water. You feel like you are going to be sick, but you also feel like you have to eat something at the same time. Not to mention that my hands are so shaky right now. I hate those damn glucose drinks. They work, but I could barely get the seal off because my hands were shaking so bad. It seems like a poor packaging choice on their part.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better, but honestly, the way I feel right now I just want to throw in the towel.

UPDATE: Well crap. I tested again, and now blood sugar is 189!? (200 is the official threshold for diabetes, anything over 140 postmeal is considered high). It was less than an hour after having the fast acting carbs and eating maybe three bites of my pasta. I even ran a control on my meter and tested again and it's not the meter. Not to mention that since my stomach was feeling funky I had to run to the bathroom pretty much immediately after eating. I hate this. I still feel horrible because my sugar is swinging all over the place.

I'm supposed to sub for my mentor teacher tomorrow, but with the way I'm feeling I don't know if I will be able to, which sucks. I need the money, and essentially I'm getting paid to do what I already do anyway, but I just feel so crappy. However, we aren't prepared for a real sub and tomorrow is a weird day. (Early release, so the classes are out of order and the honor roll students will be watching movies in the gym.)

Well, I felt better this morning so I did get to sub. I went to my doctor after school, and she didn't seem concerned about the high (although I know I sure am. That's awfully close to the diabetes threshold). She gave me some really good suggestions, and basically affirmed that what happened last night was probably a rebound from a high carb meal. At least now I have even more incentive to eat right.

On the plus (or I should I say minus) side, I did lose 2 pounds this week!

Jaime: Great job on the loss! I have a feeling that documentary would scare me too. Was it Supersize Me?

Dianatlol: It sounds like you are making some good behavioral changes. Keep up the good work!

Tammy: 3lbs!? Wow! You go girl!

Sabrina: We all have gains. The improtant thing is that you are not letting it derail you. I'm rooting for those two pounds this week!

Janine: You rock girl! 2.4 is a great loss, and isn't it awesome when you are surprised at the scale in a good way?

hobbester: Good for you maintaining while travelling! I think travelling is definitely the hardest time during a weight loss regimen because unless you like plain grilled chicken, it's hard to eat out and eat healthy.

Sparky: Glad we could be of help. Congratulations on your two pound loss!

Convert: Great job on not only your loss, but also adding exercise! It's great that you're seeing the rewards of your hard work!

MelanieC: I would go with the 3.4 ;). It will be more motivating. Good luck this weekend with your football game and chuck e cheese. I've never been to one but based on their commercials it appears they have an arcade right? You could do skee ball or air hockey or even Dance Dance Revolution if they have it and get your exercise it.

Lisa: 2.2? You rock! Keep up the good work!

Julylady: A half a pound is a pretty modest gain. I'm confident that you can lose that and then some this week. You can do it!

Shewelch: Great job and getting your 10lbs! How awesome does that feel? Keep up the good work!

Patty: Congratulations on the weight loss! God job with ading the exercise, keep up the good work!

Andrea: Congratulations on being down 11 lbs! You rock my socks off!

Good morning, Blue Team! Looks like some good reports for many of us this week. I turned in my initial weigh in yesterday and was VERY pleased to see it being exactly where I left off 5 months ago. No additional loss, but I managed to maintain that whole time! I'll take it. Now, though, it's time to keep moving downward!

Hypermommy - For the pedometer you need to wear it in the front. It should be lined up approx with your kneecap to work most accurately.

I on the other hand broke my pedometer at WDW. It fell off in line for Snow White and the battery cover must have popped off because that and the battery were gone when I went to put it back on later. Guess I'll be hitting the store this week. I thought I might do without it this time, but I've already felt like I wasn't moving as much without it.

tmfranlk - thanks for the info on the pedometer. Now I'll be getting accurate readings. Although I still think 10K steps is out of my reach at this point. Not becuase I can't do that many steps but becuase I just don't have the time for all that walking.

I gotta do something though. Gave into temptation and laid in bed watching a movie and eating peanuts again. Ugh! But today's a new day so I'll just be extra good today.

The recipe for the chicken and rice skillet is this:
1/2 tsp Olive Oil
2 cups ground skinless chicken breast
1/2 cups chopped onions
1/4 cups red bell pepper
1 cups frozen green peas (thawed)
1 can 98% fat free Cream of Mushroom soup
1 3/4 cups water
1 cup long grain white rice
2 tsp salt
1/4 cups green bell peppers

In a saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Add chicken, onions, and chopped bell peppers. Cook until chicken is no longer pink and vegetables are tender.Stir in peas, cream of mushroom soup, water, rice, and salt. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until rice is done.
Makes 6 servings
Per Serving Calories...261...Fat...2 g...Carbs....33 g...Sodium...869 mg...Fiber...1.6

It was really yummy! I forgot to put the salt in while cooking and it was too sweet, but I put a bit of salt on while eating and it was fine!

Hypermommy don't forget that for the COW we only have to do 6000 steps.

3 Clock at least 6000 steps 4 times this week (this is where the pedometer from the pre-challenge comes in handy) (10 points for each day you reach goal- max 40 points)

I appreciate Raenstoirm using that number because 10000 seems totally unobtainable to me. Now I just have to find my pedometer. That may be the hardest part of the challenge for me.

I frequent our team threads alot but never post. I am a true lurker. I have enjoyed all your posts and stories and sharing. I have had a horrible week. I am determined to get back on track today. I will only eat the food on my program and sugarfree jello, diet soda, and sugarfree Popsicles. I will do my water and I will exercise today. There I said it and I AM going to do it. I will check in tomorrow. I promise.

What are you up to today? Do you have problems with staying on track for the weekend? It's just DH and I so that makes things easier. He did make brownies last night for a church function today. I did nibble some even though I don't really like brownies. Luckily this morning they have disappeared. I don't know where he put them and I don't want to know. I just hope he doesn't bring any home from church tonight.

QOTD Friday: Yesterday you told us your biggets challenge to weight loss. Today, tell us what you could do to make it easier.

I am sorry I missed the previous QOTD. I love them. What a wonderful way to get to know each other and a wonderful way for us to do some self contemplation.

Anyway of course I am my own worse enemy in this weight loss battle. I have this all or nothing at all mentality. As soon as I go OP the entire day is disastrous. I am a compulsive overeater. I honestly can not control myself with food. It has taken me many years to realize if I buy it I will eat it. And I will not eat healthy portions I will inhale all of it at once. DH will not eat it because he can leave it alone but it will call my name and I will eat every bite of it.

So the solution is do not even bring it in the house. If he wants a goodie he will have to buy it at a convenience store himself. Period.

I also need to stick to my program. It is very detailed and planned out for me. I just have to work the program. That is my goal this week. This program will work if I work the program to a T. No deviation at all. I can do this and I WILL do this.

Thanks for listening Blue. You guys are great. What a wonderful supportive group we have here. I'm looking forward to contributing more and getting to know you all better.

Have a healthy day!

Sorry I've been MIA lately guys, I'm having computer problems.

Convert , 1# loss!!! WAY TO GO!:yay: I love going for walks too! Glad that it is something that is really working for you! Onward and downward....

MelanieC, 5.4# total loss so far! That is so exciting! What really stuck out in my mind when I read your post was when you said you love it that you are in control! That is so powerful when you take control back and make it work for you. And the planning ahead is so smart!:teacher: That will certainly make your road less bumpy! Great job!:goodvibes ANd how cool is the surprise your DH got you!!!!! That is very sweet! What a fun way to get some exercise. So glad you took the Friday off for you!

njmom23grls , 2.2# Loss!!!! EXCELLENT!:woohoo: Another planner! I see how important that is, I love reading how you have the fruits and veggies ready to go, sounds like something I should look into. Thanks for a great idea!

SILLYANDI , down 11# so far!!!!:worship: That is awesome! ANd you are about to crack into ONEderland! How great is that?!!!! I will look forward to hearing how you are doing! I know you can do it! I hope you are feeling all better soon!

Eeyores Butterfly , 2# loss this week! WAY TO GO!!!!!:cool1: So sorry you had a terrible bout with your blood sugars. That stinks. tmfranlk , that is fantastic that you have maintained for 5 months, and now it is your time to move onward and downward! We'll be celebrating your successes!

Julylady, 1/2 pound gain isn't too bad with all of those temptations around. Way to go on keeping focussed!

shewelch , WAY to go on changing the ribbon!!!!!:cheer2: You inspired me, I peeked at the scale this morning and I can change my ribbon, I think I will too! Thanks for reminding me to celebrate all of our successes! You have made some great choices with nutritious meals, and the water will come. You are doing fantastic! Can't wait to hear about the success you are going to have this week.:cutie:

Hypermommy , Thanks for sharing the recipee with us! It sounds very yummy, and I will have to give it a try. Bringing your own food to work sure helps you stay in control, great job!:thumbsup2

Patty1859, 1# loss!!!!! Congratulations!!!!:cheer2: So glad to hear that you are back in the swing of things with exercising. And so glad it is making you feel great! :flower3:

dare2dream, You sound so much like me! The all or nothing attitude can be your biggest blessing or your biggest enemy! Hang in there and make those changes you need to for YOU! If you aren't "perfect" this week, it is OK! My master instructor told another student that is is OK not to be perfect, rather perseverence is key. That opened my eyes to know that it is OK to keep plugging away slowly and making those small changes, because before you know it, those small changes will add up fast. So glad you posted on our thread, and I look forward to reading tomorrow how the day went for you! And I will join you in the "I AM..." plan... Today I AM going to exercise AND go for a walk. Hugs to you my friend! :jumping3:

Briarmom, so happy to hear DH is home!:yay: And happy that you are back with us, hopefully the computer problems are all done. The healthy eating will come back, have a great week!

Hi Blue Team!

Sorry I've been MIA. DH is working overtime as well as taking classes to finish his apprenticeship, so that means after work the cooking, cleaning, and kid-care are done by yours truly. I had a pretty good week. I lost 2.5 lbs, and I'm getting closer to my mini-goal. I did have card club with my best friends last night, and the seven layer bars were calling my name. I only had one, though.

It sounds like the Blue team had another awesome week from all of the updates. You guys are doing a fantastic job. I have been trying to keep up with reading the posts even when I don't have time to contribute, and I find it inspirational.

I did buy the Biggest Loser Cardio Max DVD, and my glutes are currently weeping in protest...and I didn't even make it through the whole thing. Thanks to whoever posted about the new Wii Fit game coming out...can't wait!
Jen

I am happy to report that I finally lost 2#! it has taken some time, but I am on the losing side again.

What finally did it for me was winning that trophy last week. It gave me a sense of being "worthy" and a sense of "accomplishment", and a sense of "anything is possible". So basicly stepping out and taking that risk gave me a sense of HOPE and a taste (no pun intended:rotfl: ) of what success feels like and I am so excited to feel more successful moments. Suddenly those chips just don't seem as important.... earning my self respect, and sense of self worth is more important.

Dare2Dream: I completely understand the all or nighting mentality. The good thing is that you know that about yoruself, and that is the first step to changing it. Good luck!

JamesNick: Welcome back! Tell us how you like te DVD.

Vija:: Congratulations on the 2# loss. We've missed you this past week. I hope your daughter is feeling better!

Sorry I've been MIA lately guys, I'm having computer problems.

Good news in our house is that dh got home! Of course that's meant crappy eating the past few days with lots of drinks and snacks.:headache:

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. :grouphug:

I'm glad that your husband is home. Don't worry, you'll get back on track soon. The important thing now is to celebrate your time together.

I had a mini-triumph today in the will-power department. I was grocery shopping and my favourite potato chips were on sale so I picked up a bag and put it in the cart. As I did the rest of my shopping and was filling up my cart with lots of healthy food I rethought that choice and so I put the chips back where they came from. :goodvibes

LLD-Lessa,

I am so glad you put those chips back. Great move. Enjoy that healthy food and a healthy new you!!

QOTD: My biggest challenge in losing weight is not having enough time during the day to be able to leave and go to the gym for an hour.
Things to make it easier to loose weight, I think we all wish this, is to have a chef to cook all the meals "yum". More practical; letting my body heal now so when I can workout again in 6 weeks my body will be ready and just eating the right healthy foods during this time.

I did the real age today, Im 30 years old and it says im 23.7 based on the results. I wish I look like what I did in my 20's (125lbs) vs now about 20-25lbs heavier

I'm really not having much discomfort besides now I have a cold and it feels like my stomach is going to burst open when I cough. I've walked to the mailbox today and went to store on Frida, so I'm slowly increasing my activity. Which I need to do as my aunt is here and she's baking all sorts of goods!!

Thanks for the recipe...going grocery shopping today so think this will be on the menu this week. Never tried ground chicken on the family so maybe I'll hide the package:thumbsup2 .

Good for you on putting them back, breaking those kind of habits is hard but we'll all be so much better off.
