BL Challange - Red Team - Week 1

Actually someone told me today that when it comes to fruit that grapes is the worst one for you when it comes to dieting. Don't know how true it is. Anyone else heard this?:confused3

I'm certainly no expert, but I'd have to agree that on the scale of fruits and calorie/sugar content, grapes are pretty high in both.

My personal philosophy about grapes - which I LOVE, I might add - is they aren't inherently bad. They are just a food. Eat in moderation and it's fine. Now - my personal "I'm going to eat everything that's not nailed down" philosophy about grapes is that grapes - even without moderation - are better than a Snickers bar - especially when I'll eat the snickers and STILL want the grapes.

I say life is too short! Eat grapes (or brownie - singular! - depending on the time of the month!), then if it bothers you, do an extra lap or two on the track

You guys are all awesome. I feel no more guilt about my brownie. And I had a very small dinner and I'm not hungry anymore so I'm not eating anymore. I was looking around for more food but realized that it was not because I was hungry, but simply because it seemed like I hadn't eaten enough to call it dinner. So I stopped. And I'm going to go to bed to resist any more temptation, and call the day a success.:woohoo:

Would I rather have Bob or Jillian-I'd pick Jillian in a heartbeat. Her "toughlove" is what I would need. Bob is a cutie pie, for sure, but I don't think I would have the same level of success.

I am still under the weather, hoping to get better soon, as I really need to get my butt in gear for this race next week.

Eating today was fair at best. Breakfast was the usual coffee and toast, dinner was cereal. Lunch was the problem. I went out with my friend for lunch and we split a chicken quesadilla and some wings. I couldn't taste anything, so did not eat too much, but it wasn't exactly quality stuff. I guess I wouldn't feel so bad about eating it if I had actually enjoyed it by tasting it!
I usually go out once a week for lunch with my friend from work and I try to make good choices.

I guess I am not the only one who is having troubles, so glad to have friends to share this journey with.

Food has been good, water good, exercise still not going. Partly still not feeling all that great, partly that time of the month & cramping really bad, and partly just plain busy this week. Excuses I know but I havent been home except to sleep for 3 days....all in the car running around town. I am parking as far as I can from wherever I am stopping at (so I guess that counts), but not like I have been.

Tomorrow is a new day and fortunately not busy till the evening, so there should be no problem exercising then, Friday I'm not so sure about. I think I need to sit down and really look at my schedule and force time into it for exercising. I need to fit it in during my day of homeschooling and possibly break it up more instead of trying to do it all at once. I guess I can do that while driving up to sacramento for my daughters first ever gymnastics competition.

As for Bob or Julian....I dont know....Julian would make me cry (I do it very easily when upset or mad) & Im not sure I could cry and work out like she would want. So I would probably say Bob...I think his style would work best for my personality.

Food Today:
B = 2 egg shrimp & cheese omlet
L = Ham & cheese & lettuce roll-ups
S= Sausage dog w/o bun
D= Tri-tip, broccoli & salad (actually in the middle of cooking this so veggie might change depending on what the rest of the family wants)

Water: 96 ounces (still more planning to drink @ dinner) aiming for 120 a day but haven't hit that yet ....LOL

Exercise: none except walking several parking lots

Michelle :)

Bob or Jillian? Last night was the first time I've ever watched BL. I've heard alot about it and seen bits and pieces, but never watched the whole thing. It didn't take me long to figure out if Jillian were my trainer it would go from BL to WWF Smackdown. She's one freaky woman.

I have been doing fine with my exercising, but my eating leaves alot to be desired. It's been a crazy week all around and I find myself doing alot of stress eating. Having quit smoking earlier this year, I still find myself reaching for food as a crutch (and I did that before I quit smoking). So, I need to figure out a different way to deal with stress. Somehow I got motivated enough to quit smoking....now I need to find the motivator that makes me stop eating the things that are turning me into Humpty Dumpty.

Hmm...Bob or Jillian. Before watching on tuesday i would have chosen Jillian..but Tues she seemed a little over the top. Probably what I need though :rotfl: .

Doing crummy on food this week...I have the execise portion down..at least I think I do. I've been walking at lunchtime (around 3 miles in 53-54 minutes) and doing a class at the gym at night.

Now I just have to resist the bagel urge in the morning and cut down on the diet soda.

Keep up the great work Red Team

Hey all, I'm no longer feeling funky. Usually I can't get back in the swing for at least a few weeks, but between this board and my hubby I'm feeling ok today. I'm going to have an veggie omelet & toast for breakfast, tuna salad and fruit for lunch, who knows for dinner. Exercising today will be a challenge. My son has a cross country meet after school and then we have the schools open house right after. I guess I'll have to do it around 8:30 tonight.
Tracyz, Thanks for the kick. I do a bunch of different crafts. Quilting, decorative wood painting, sewing table runners and such. Last year was the first year I did them, I had jumped in with a friend. This year I have 8 of my own, and I'm behind schedule on making product to sell. So I need to get my butt in gear.
I may not post a ton, but I do read each and every post. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who struggles. I swear every where I go I look around and feel like the heaviest, most unfit person around. I wish it was easier for all of us.
Have a good day everyone

I was just reading the past days threads, feeling guilty about my late night snacking again, and thinking the exact same thing. We are all in this together, and it is so good to know we are not alone. I had hoped it would be easier this time, having just rejoined ww and doing this challenge, but it's not. I know it's a balance, like lisaviolet said, and we will all find it and succeed. Go red team!!:cheer2:
Here's to lots of big losses tomorrow!!

Glad you're feeling better can-do-mom.

As far as Bob or Jillian, initially I thought I'd pick Jillian, but I can be pretty stubborn, and if she was in my face, I can picture myself just standing up against her and not doing it. I think I'd be more likely to keep moving for Bob. I honestly can't imagine what it must be like for them to have training like that. They must be so sore after those workouts. But they do have amazing results.

Okay, I am back from a trip to Atlantic City with my mom. My eating habits were NOT good on this trip and no organized exercise because of the trip. However, I did do a lot of walking in the casinos to find my mom when we went separate ways!!

I started back on Jenny Craig last week and did eat ok when I was not on the trip, and I go for weigh-in tonight, so hopefully it won't be too bad. I may not be too helpful to the team this week, but I am going to get to work starting today!!!!!!

I want to stay on my food plan and get at least 20 min of activity everyday. I am waiting for my Wii Fit to be delivered. I am hoping a new toy will get me motivated.

Good luck with weigh-ins tommorrow Red Team!!!:cheer2:

My first time to multi quote!!!

Hey Katy,

So what took you to the Qatar? Work? Maybe you said already. I should go back and check. Forget it - tell me, I'm far too lazy.

As for the clothes. I find the scale rarely reflects the body change. It can end up like yours - weight loss and no loss in size or the other way. Where the scale isn't budging at all but one's clothes feel so different. Both can be frustrating. Hence my lack of love for the scale.

But I do find that my weight seems to go in clumps and then plateaus for awhile. As long as it's moving out - that's okay.
Thanks Lisa! I know that it is a good thing and I will see a change soon, but I need reminding.
We are here for work. My DH is the Accounting Manager for a large oil company here. We've been here nearly 4 years and will probably move to the USA this summer. It's good here:goodvibes We've had a great life while here. It does have its challenges, as most places do. I haven't been able to find skim milk, or skimmed as its called here, for over a week. I can't read labels written in arabic or french :lmao: Cheese is better here than in the USA:rotfl:

:grouphug: Sorry your day was so stressful. It is so hard not to eat during times of stress, but you're here and back on track and you will stay there!! Have patience with the clothes. I know for me, my clothes were a bit tight to start, size 18, and after almost 20 pounds they had gotten too big. Slow and steady and you'll get there. Hope today is much better.:)

Thanks! Yup, stress is my deal. Last night was stressful too, HOMEWORK for 5th grader took US 3 hours! Today I was still in a funk and ate. Not too, too bad, nothing like it would have been two months ago:rolleyes1 Babysteps.
How about a question for the day? Since Biggest Loser started last night I'll use that for my question.

If you could would you rather have Bob or Jillian and why?

I think I'd go with Jillian, I think I'd need her toughness to keep me going.

The BL that we get here has British contestants, but Bob and Jllian are there. I think I'd go for Bob. Jillian is annoying

HI....I'm soupy...35,
Anyway, after getting lecturered by the cardiologist in June (I have an absolutely LOUSY family history for heart disease starting young) I signed up for the Princess 1/2 marathon next March, since a trip to Disney is one of the few things that would consistently motivate me to exercise. So far it is working, but I need to work on my diet more as I haven't lost any weight.

Actually, the marathon isn't my primary reason for needing to lose, hubby is over 40 and I just hit 35 and we would still like to try for a baby before I turn 37, after that we are afraid to try. SO....I want to lose minimum of 30 before the marathon (which would put me at 200) but would LOOOOOVE to lose closer to 60. My ultimate goal is 140-50....but I can try for a bub between 200 and 180 *woot!!* :lovestruc

Soupy
Hi Soupy! You have a ton of reasons to be motivated!!! Good luck on all of your endeavors! Babies are good;) and healthy hearts are even better;)

Good job jumping back in! In two weeks we will have a vacation to Jordan. I KNOW my eating will not be great, but I hope to be like you and jump back in on day one back at home. Walking COUNTS!

Red Team, you are inspiring and I'm glad to be here with you! I will weigh in tomorrow morning and post my progress! Good luck to EVERYONE!
Katy

Hey team. I have been just awful this week. Feeling yuck with the allergies, not eating right, and not posting. I'm scared for weigh in tomorrow morning.:scared1:

I may not be able to catch up on all the posts (I'm about 6 pages behind right now:surfweb: ) before the new thread is started tomorrow, but I will try.
And I promise to do better next week!:thumbsup2

Look at you multi-quoter you!!!!

Thanks Katy. I find it all so interesting. Your life there. I teach new immigrants to Canada. So I have a lot of Middle Eastern students. It's all fascinating to me. So thank you.

Laura,

We are your team. :grouphug: We are here for YOU!!!:lovestruc

We will all have up and down weeks. All of us. So what! That's life. That's the journey. As for posts. Everyone has different schedules. We all can't be on here all the time. But we're still a team.

So who cares what happens tomorrow. If it's a maintain or gain - it's just a stop on your journey. That's all. Just hop back on Laura. You've already done so incredibly well.

Look at all you've had to face this year and despite all that how successful you've been lately. So just jump back on.

See you tomorrow.

With love,

Lisa

Hi Fellow Red Team Members....

Well, this hasn't been the best week for eating right. Had my daughters birthday to celebrate (1 day with a party and going out to dinner on her actual birthday on Monday) and I just couldn't get in the swing of things. I hope to do much better next week by drinking water, doing some form of excercise and really trying to watch what I eat much more. We'll see what tomorrow brings on the scale.....I hope I don't let you all down. Wishing everyone good vibes :goodvibes for weigh in tomorrow!

I guess I have been a little MIA. I bartend one day a week (usually) and that day was yesterday. Then today I got called in to bartend. Days that I bartend I work 12 - 13 hours (8 behind the bar, 4 - 5 in the office) so very little time to get one little time to get on line.

Food has been good the last two days dispite being behind the bar all day. Exercise and been non-existent. With any luck I won't have to work behind the bar tomorrow, regular bartender has strep throat, and I will be able to workout.

Hope everyone is sticking to their plans and getting in their exercise. Good luck with your weigh-ins tomorrow. Hopefully we can say we are a bunch of losers.

Woo hoo! I lost! I attribute it to this challenge! I've been up and since August and I finally lost!:cheer2:

Sorry gang....we were visited by the remnants of hurricane IKE. We had no internet access for over a week, a tree on the roof, etc. We're better now--internet is restored, tree came off the roof yesterday (now we need roof/gutter/deck repairs). We were more fortunate than many.....we didn't lose electricity for very long!

Hoping I lost some weight with cleaning up the yard, but haven't been to the gym since the mess hit (ouch)

Anyhow...opening weight 212. I'll try to catch up with posts/rules, etc in the next few days.
Kathryn
