I have a favorite low cal dessert!

philly swirl -- no sugar (sweetened with splenda). they are fantastic! they have only 10 calories and taste just like a real ice pop. mmm...

i also really like fiber-one granola bars. on weight watchers they are only 1 point a piece because they have like 6g of fiber!

GO RED TEAM!

Question of the day: Way back during one of my Atkins experiences, I rediscovered the joys of Jello! Sugar free Jello with a dolop of REAL whipped cream is a major treat, and I've been trying all kinds of flavors (love KIWI!) Man....I wish I'd remembered to bring some to work today!

Yesterday went pretty well, considering I have major grocery shopping to do. I did rely on a Subway wrap for dinner....but got double meat turkey with lots of veggies...felt pretty wholesome to me (hey, it worked for Jared). Tonight I'm meeting one of my May 08 cruise mates for dinner. We chose Mimi's as I know they have some good salads and a few smaller portion options....I seem to recall some yummy grilled shrimp on the menu...hope they still have it.

ONWARD AND DOWNWARD Everyone!

*3 Trader Joe's triple ginger snap cookies & a cup of hot tea, either Twining's Earl Grey Decaf or Republic of Tea's Orange Ginger Mint. (The Orange Ginger Mint is spicy/sweet without adding sugar, too!)

agnes!
PS - I walked 1.1 miles this morning.

Oh Agnes, that sounds yummmy. I love Earl Grey (decaf, of course) too.

Congrats on the walk!

Thanks for the link....looks like they sell them at Safeway....got one in my neighborhood!

.....ok, lunch break over....back to work for me!

hi fellow team members! First of all, the right shift key on my keyboard is broken... so excuse my bad grammar.

i've been married for 11 years... we have 2 children 17 and 10. i work part time in a pediatricians office. i'm turning 40 this year and would like to lose 30 pounds before my birthday. 20 more after that... but 50 pounds by 12-03 just isn't doable.

i'll type more later- my son needs some help making potato.

A friend of mine introduced me to a good substitute for an ice cream sandwich. Take 2 sheets of chocolate graham crackers and put 2 tbsp of cool whip in between, Its only 4 WW points (if you use cool whip free, it would only be 3 points) and a very satisfying ice cream-like treat! Of course there is no substitute for a big bowl of Blue Bell! I had a pretty good day today but i feel like the very hungry caterpillar (i am still hungry!)

Hi Red Team!

So for the question of the day...my favorite sweet treat is either No Pudge brownies w/ a little bit of light cool whip or just a mini chocolate treat like a tiny snickers or something. I also like a peach cut up with cool whip!

I'm going to have to try really hard this week...since I'm moving this weekend to a different town it's going to hard to keep up my exercise and eating right, but I'm going to do the best I can. My downfall usually seems to be that I take an all or nothing approach and I need to learn to not do that. For example, tonight I went to a trade show and reception after work and I drank diet coke instead of a glass of wine and ate veggies instead of cheese. They did have an ice cream bar, so I had a little bowl (just one scoop), but that was my dinner!! Now, I'm off to do my exercise.

Question of the Day

What is your healthy or low cal dessert to satisfy that sweet tooth?

Lo cal doesn't do it for me, so for me, the key is moderation. I feel much more satisfied from 1/2 c. of real strawberry ice cream than I would a whole sundae made with ff or lf ice cream.

I have to fight with my kids to get computer time, so I guess I'll try to do days 1 & 2 in one post!

I have 3 kids: 13, 12 & 10. I stayed home for 11 years, and went back to work less than a year ago. I'm really happy with my new permanent job, and now just want to find the time to concentrate on losing the weight I've carried around for 10 years. Oh, and I've been married for over 19 years.

My plan includes drinking lots of water (I never have a problem doing that), and paying attention to what I eat. Working has actually helped with that (no quick access to food!). My biggest struggle is exercise. I hate it, and so I always find a good reason to avoid it.

Oh...and count me in as another Canadian on the team!!

For a lo-cal treat, I really like apple crisp. I did WW a few years ago & figured out the points, and it was low (I'll have to work it out again). I used to make a big batch & then freeze it in portion-sized tupperware. And, I'd add strawberries sometimes to change it up.

Looking forward to seeing less of all of us!!

sweets are my downfall, so am going to try some of these. I also prefer a small portion of full fat ice cream to the lowfat or fat free, the carbs are the same and being diabetic, that's what I worry about. Alas, portion control is not my strong suit. so my best diet treat is

Blue Bunny sherbet cups - each little cup has orange, lime and cherry sherbet in it, and being prepackaged keeps me from overindulging. The flavors are very intense, so I don't miss the extra fat of ice cream.

HI!

Sorry I am late to the game...

Let's do some introductions.
#1 some general info about you:
I am 32 and until the end of August, a SAHM. Now, I'm a preschool teacher to two year olds. School just started for them yesterday and most come 2 or 3 days a week so there was lots of tears. I work from 8:30-12. I am trying to get into a routine of working and it's not easy. I have 3 boys (4, 6 and 8) and am married to a dh who works long hours so fitting in exercise isn't easy.

#2 why are you taking this challenge? I want to lose weight and fit into cute clothes.

#3 what healthy eating plan will you use to reach your weight loss goals? I am following Weight Watchers.

#4 what type of exercise are you doing and for how long each day? either walking around the neighborhood w/ the kids or 30--40 minutes on the treadmill. I TRY to do this 3-4 times a week.

My fav. low calorie dessert is a piece of dark chocolate. It's really rich and I can just eat a piece and be satisfied.

Hi Red Team!

The DIS was down around here since yesterday. So I am catching up now.
More about me:
1) My name is Jennifer and I am 35 and live in Northern California (the Bay Area). I am a 911 dispatcher and the hours are long and I just got forced back to graveyard. I haven't worked graves in a number of years :scared1: I have 6 children, the boys are 20, 18, 12, 11, 7, and my daughter is 19 months. I just finished my degree in April. We are looking to move from California back to Utah as soon as the house sells.
2) I am taking the challenge because I need some motivation. My husband and I joined WW at the beginning of the summer, but due to finances we had to give up going to meetings etc for a little bit. But I lost more weight when I had to show up every week and weigh in then I ever have. I am also hoping to complete the Minnie in May of 2008.
3) I am going to stick to the WW flex plan, it works for me and my sporadic eating schedule.
4) I work graves and get off at 6 am, the kids don't need to be up til 7 am, and I only leave a block from work so I plan on hitting the gym here at work in the mornings. This will give me at least 45 mins per day.

Favorite dessert: garlic popcorn, or cinnamon popcorn. jello with ff cool whip. (Hint:If you freeze the ff cool whip it taste like ice cream), and WW strawberry shortcake.

::yes::

I think one of the best things we can teach ourselves is how to occasionally have some of 'the real thing' in modest portions and still achieve/maintain a healthy weight. I know when the chocolate craving comes, just one piece of Dove Promise dark chocolate does the job for me.

That being said, the low fat or sugar free versions of foods is what makes many of us able to make it through the long haul of losing (I know my weight loss process will take a year at best).

I know it's the EXERCISING that's going to make all the difference.....this is where I'll need lots of encouragement (OK...nag me) to keep on it! Tomorrow night I hit the pool.

I wonder if this year on Liggest Loser they will show us ANY of the eating plan these people are doing. I never watched every episode of the earlier seasons...but everything I saw was about excercise and physical challenges. Did they do stuff on food and I missed it???

.

Hi Everyone! I typically don't do sweets but occasionally I will have a scoop of regular ice cream (sometimes sherbet) or a single piece of Godiva dark chocolate.

I have already increased my water intake and tonight I am meeting my friend at the Gym for an hour long walk!

Good Morning Everyone, I worked for an additional 4 hours last night to try to get caught up, but don't feel that I got anything accomplished. Stress

Perhaps TMI, but here we go. Splenda, aspertame and the remainder of those types of sweeteners does numbers on my stomach. It makes weird sounds, very loud weird sounds. So I have cut out all of that from my diet. No soda, nothing that contains it. Cutting out the diet soda helped alot. Sounds gone :confused3 :lmao:

To answer the QOD about one sweet item: Dove Dark Chocolate Piece. It is 210 calories for 5, so I have one after lunch and occasionally one after dinner.

Hey LOSERS!!!

How did yesterday go? I did my water and exercise. DH had a long day and a long winded friend called at 7:30 PM so I ate after 8. I only did 2 f & v (boo) and thus my woe was not great. I did make better choices than I did on Tuesday.

DH will be home in the office today, so I will not get to check in as much as I would like. He likes to see me working instead of goofing off in front of the computer.

Question of the day
ccm - Celeste, a team member offers todays question of the day.
Do you have a guilty pleasure each day?

Me first - I do not have something I regularly have to have everyday. Occasionally I will have just one piece of hard candy, not the sugar free type. Ice cream is a weakness. When I am trying to eat healthy I only have some if it is a flavor I like. I won't have any of DHs stupid flavors and if I have some I use a very small bowl for just one scoop. And it's important to eat it slowly to savor every bite. Come on I know you know what I am saying.

Team Trivia

I enjoyed everyones introductions and answers to the first 4 questions. I need to print out that stuff to help me get to know everyone. Your quest, should you choose to accept it, is to find the names of our Canadian team members. There seem to be quite a few. PM or email me the list. Their names will be revealed tomorrow morning.

If you have any ideas for question of the day or team trivia please contact me.

All 31 team members have checked in with their initial weights. Thank you team.

Have a healthy day and remember we're doing it for the team.

RED TEAM ROCKS!!!

HI all. Sorry I'm a little late. Here's a little about me:

I'm a mom of 3, ages 6, 11 & 16. I've been dieting & exercising since the last week of April when the scale hit 189. I knew that if it hit 190, 200 lbs would be right around the corner. Since then I have been trying to get in 1 hour of exercise & stick to a 1500 cal. diet a day. My Tuesday weigh in was 167 so that will be my Biggest Loser starting weight. My weight had actually been stalled at 166 for a few weeks so I am really hoping to recharge my weight loss. I'm so glad to be a part of this group!

Team Trivia

:wave2: Morning Red Team! :teeth:

I would say my guilty pleasure is a small glass of wine or a Smirnoff Grape cooler. Either are delish, after everyone has gone to bed. The problem is both are PURE carbs and in order for me to lose well, I can't partake. I love to draw a warm bath, have a little cocktail, and relax after a long day. But during the challenge, I will be drinking some caffeine free tea in the tub. :thumbsup2

We have to win this thing!!!! :cheer2:
