#1 some general info about you
As I mentioned earlier, my name is Kimberly. I am 48 yrs old and have been married for 17 yrs. DH is 50, DS is 15 and DD is 11. I am currently working part-time as a bookkeeper for a small company and am very involved in the PTA.

#2 why are you taking this challenge?
Because I'm fat! :lmao: Seriously, since turning 40 and kicking into peri-menopause I have put on a lot of weight. I need to lose a lot of weight and would like to enter my 50's at a much healthier weight.

#3 what healthy eating plan will you use to reach your weight loss goals?
Low fat, whole grains. Basically what we've been eating since my DH had bypass surgery 1 1/2 yrs ago. WHat I hadn't been doing is following the same diet all day as he had.

#4 what type of exercise are you doing and for how long each day?
Now that both of the kids will be starting school early, I'll have a couple of hours before I have to go to work. I am starting off with walking and will add exercises in a couple of weeks once I get to a better place.

Hi team! :woohoo:

My name is Jenny. Since the beginning of the year I have lost 20lb through mostly a change of eating habits. Just recently I hit a plateau so I added exercise, which I abhore, to the program. I am hoping that will kick start me into losing the additional weight.

I work at a local hospital on an inpatient psych unit for adults and yes, I have seen it all. I graduated with my Master's this May in Mental Health Counseling.

We live in Utah but are from California originally and I miss it SO much. We have been here 14 years. Living my first 24 years by the beach was awesome and sometimes wish we could move back.

I am proud mommy to my 3 wonderful kidlets, see siggy, and have been married 14 years to the greatest, although quite possibly the moodiest, man alive.

I am taking this challenge to keep me accountable. It's SO easy for me to put my health on the backburner but I am hoping that by being part of a team, who is counting on me, it will help motivate me to do what's best for my health.

My eating plan will stay the same; lower carbs with lowfat proteins. Sort of my own SBD plan. It's worked well so far. :thumbsup2

As far as exercise, I will be exercising 3-4x a week for 60 minutes. I will be doing classes! :yay:

:thanks: for allowing me to be part of the team!

Hi everybody!
#1 I'm Rebecca -SAHM to 2, mid-thirties, my youngest is getting ready to turn three, so I guess the "baby weight" excuse is wearing a bit thin! :rotfl2: I need to lose about 50 lbs, but I've been at a standstill for a couple of weeks.

#2 DH and I started seeing a personal trainer as a couples activity, so I've been doing well on the exercising part, but not as well on my eating, so this challenge is to help me mind my calories! Now, it's not just about my waistline - I can't let the team down! The trainer has definitely helped - I can tell that I'm a lot more muscular, but the weight is coming off so I need to take it up a notch!

#3 I use FitDay.com to track my calories eaten and burned. I'm trying to keep my caloric intake between 1200-1500 each day and burn enough to reach a 500-700 calorie deficit. That should create a 1-2 lb weight loss per week. I'm also cutting down my diet pepsi habit and switching to water. I still need one in the morning - it's my caffeine habit (I don't drink coffee).

#4 We see the personal trainer for 1 hour 3 times per week. I also go to the gym and use the elliptical machine to do my cardio at least 3 times per week.

Let's go team! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hello Team Red...My name is Michelle and I hail from Mass. I am the mom of 5 DCherubs, ages 10-18---no twins. I am very excited, very nervous, need to lose a person, and am most of all very committed. I have never done anything like this although I have lurked on the WISH board off and on for a while. I began dieting almost 3 weeks ago Wednesday for me...I do NOT want to be my Mother...so far I am down officially after 2 weeks, I had to buy a scale, 8.4 pounds and am up to 3-4 bottles of water a day. That for me is a huge feat, I had to drink water! I am having knee surgery a week from Thursday to fix a mess of stuff and hope to be able to begin walking 2 weeks after that. The best PT in the world in when DH and I go to WDW the 26th of this month and I walk, slowly but steadily. We are going to blow the other teams away...good luck to us all.:goodvibes

#2 -- i gained about 20 lbs over the past year while i was on lexapro for anxiety. the anxiety is gone now, but my weight hasn't really come off. i'd like to lose that remaining weight and what better way to do this than being challenged!

#3 -- i've been trying to follow weight watchers with the old points system and so far this summer i've lost 6 lbs.

#4 -- i bought myself some new pilates for weightloss videos and a pair of 5 lb weights!

GO TEAM RED!

#1 some general info about you:
Hi Everyone My name is Kelly I am 38, have been married for 14.5 yrs and have an 11yr old DD. My Dh is in the Air Force and we are currently living in Okinawa, Japan. Growing up and until I had my hysterectomy in 2002 I never had issues with weight but that has definitely changed.

#2 why are you taking this challenge? I am hoping that this Challenge will motivate me.

#3 what healthy eating plan will you use to reach your weight loss goals?
In 2004-2005 I was able to lose 30lbs by watching my carbs however when we moved last year I gained it all back, so this time I am going try a more realistic (for me) long term approach portion control as well as caloric intake.

#4 what type of exercise are you doing and for how long each day? Honestly I have not been doing much as of late but that will all change, today I will go walking and I will add to that daily, hopefully by next week I will be back in the gym.

Good luck everyone!

I am so excited to get to meet you all. We are going to have a wonderful time on this adventure. When I start with a weight loss program I am usually good as gold for 3 -4 days and then I start to slip. So I will be needing you come Friday or Saturday.

We have a lot of amazing women here. I think? we are all women so far - please correct me if I am wrong.

I am still waiting for initial weights for 8 people. Please PM or e-mail me tonight with the info (except for Linda). I have enjoyed the flood of PMs and e-mails. You guys rock.

Keep with the program, never give up.

Brenda

RED TEAM ROCKS!!!!

I'd like to ask each of you to try to get a "before" picture taken. We can post before and after photos at the end of the competition if you want. It is not required. A photo would be good for you to have to document your success as the BIGGEST LOSER.

Let's do some introductions.

#2 why are you taking this challenge?
#3 what healthy eating plan will you use to reach your weight loss goals?
#4 what type of exercise are you doing and for how long each day?

1. My name is Celeste. I am 35 (for one more month). I have been married for 6 years. DD, age 9, is my adopted daughter, from DHs first marriage. I work as a supervisor for a medical software company. This is a stressful job for me. I believe that this stress is partially leading to my gaining and difficulty in losing weight. I live in Plymouth, MA a couple of miles from the water.

2. I am taking this challenge so that I have something to work towards, a goal. I want to lose more weight than I have recently. I am currently about 40 lbs overweight. I would be happy to lose 34 of those lbs. My goal had been to lose for my vacation to WDW. Well the vacation has come and gone, I lost some weight for vacation and lost weight during vacation. I was able to zip pants that I couldn't at the beginning of the summer. The reality of being home again has set in and I need motivation.

3. I know how to eat healthy and portion size based on WW and 6Week Body Makeover. This includes portion control and eating correct foods. I know what to do and can do it, when motivated.

4. Exercise can be an issue some days. I have a gym membership and go three days a week currently, will most likely be increasing to 4 or 5. I do combo on those days. I do 30 minutes cardio and then 30 minutes on weights and abs exercises. I like to go walking either after work (after I pick up DD) or during lunch at work.

My picture is of me at WDW, I really thought I looked better than that....UGH!:lmao:

Hi all,
My name is Jill and i am south Louisiana girl! I am an RN and i work part time in the awesome operating room! I have 2 DDs ages 11 & 3. I haven't been thin for a long time. At this point, i'd just love to get to a more healthy weight! I would love to get back into some of my skinnier jeans by the time we head to DW in november. I am currently doing WW and when i am able to stick to it, it works very well for me. The only problem is, i have a major sweet tooth!!! I would also like to be a good influence on my DH who needs to lose some pounds too. I have been trying to take a good walk each day but with my DD age 11's extra-curricular activities, it has been tough! I am hoping that this team can motivate me to stick with losing my fat *** also!:thumbsup2

Thanks for stopping by Nursejilly. Welcome also to cherylp3 and agnes!.

Please take a chance to read through our team thread to get to know everyone. Please PM or email me your starting weight as soon as possible. Try to take a 'before' picture in the next few days. Just hold onto it until the end of the compitition. Then take an 'after' picture. You can share the pictures at the end of the compition with us if you want to, it's optional, not required. Even if you don't want to share your pictures they will be a great incentive for you.

Now let's get healthy. We can all be The Biggest Loser!!

#4 what type of exercise are you doing and for how long each day?

1 & 2. My name is Jackie and I'm 57 (!!!! how DID that happen so soon???) I'm single and work in broadcasting....actually for the NBC affiliate...home of Biggest Loser! While I was a scrawny kid, I started gaining as soon as I started working. Going from the playground and high school dances to a desk job really hurts the waistline. I want to loose 100 lbs (then we'll see how much more to go after that) and am using this challenge as my kick-start. My immediate goal is a mere six pounds...that's what it will take to get me to what has been my 'set-point' for many years. I'd actually been 10 pounds heavier, but managed to whittle that away over the summer. I've lost 30-35 pounds many times over during the last two decades and that's what I want to lose for this challenge, so I can get beyond that and INTO NEW TERRITORY!

3. My eating plan is basically low carb with lean meats and fruits and veggies....a South Beachy kind of thing. My biggest issue is portion control, so I'll be relying on my past WW experience to weigh and measure too.

4. Right now (and until the temps get below 90!!) I'll be swimming at least three times a week. As they weather cools and my joints strengthen, 30 minute walks will be introduced. My immediate goal is to add back climbing the stairs every chance I get. I'd recently had some hip problems and the chiropractor has gotten me back in working order...so the stairs are back in my life!

Can't wait to get started and to get to know all of you.

Let's do some introductions.
#1 some general info about you.

My name is Laurel and I am a SAHM to Maddie, 3 and Joe, almost 5 months. I have been married for six years to my wonderful DH. I am 39 and haven't ever had a weight problem before. Most of my life I have been pretty fit and active. I gained way too much weight with my last pregnancy (around 50 lbs - maybe a little more.) I still have at least 25 lbs to lose. I am having a hard time doing it.

#2 why are you taking this challenge? I want to be healthy so I can be here for my kids. I want to set a good example for them. And...honestly, I want to look cute in my clothes again.
#3 what healthy eating plan will you use to reach your weight loss goals? A South Beach type diet. I am nursing and can't do anything too restrictive, so I am doing phase II.
#4 what type of exercise are you doing and for how long each day? Started the Couch to 5k running program a couple of weeks ago and have been doing weight training at the gym. When the weather here in Texas cools a bit more, I will try to get out on my bike, which I love.

Hi everyone!

I am Laura, from central Iowa, just outside Des Moines. SAHM but needing to find a part time school hours job to help pay for the "extras". I am 42, married for almost 11 years and have 2 girls, 9 and 7.

why do this? I need a jumpstart to continue on the weightloss road. I have type 2 diabetes, and have been overweight for years. Last year I hit an all time high but with the help of a medication change have lost 38 pounds so far. but I've plateau'd this summer and need to get back on track. Ideally I'd like to lose about 90-100 pounds, but more realistically, would at least like to get back to ONEderland. I'd also like to be more fit to do things with my kids, including our next trip to WDW.

diet - what works best for me is lower carbs (my weakness) with lean protein and fewer fats. mostly common sense eating.

exercise- are you sure this isn't a four letter word? it should be. I hate to sweat, I hate to exercise and I know this is one of the reasons I've plateau'd. Now that it's not so beastly hot every day I'm trying to go out walking with the dog. As winter approaches, I'll probably need to join a gym or workout center.

Hey there Teamies!
#1: Enough about me, how about you?
#2: Look better. I'd like to *really* look better, (wistfully) maybe even be HOT.
#3: I'm not really sure, but mostly eat less. Portion control.
#4: Walking a mile every day, as early as possible.
I'm not sure I'm allowed to say this next bit, but maybe I shouldn't DIS as much :scared1: .
GET ENOUGH SLEEP!!! G'night.

agnes!

Hi Everyone! My name is Erica and I am a 34 year-old SAHM to my troop of 5 girls. I still have one at home during the day ( she goes to preschool 3 days a week for 2 hours at a time.), so I am never away from food. I have about 50 lbs to lose. I would love to shed them all before we leave for WDW in late January. I have started to watch what I eat, switched to diet soda ( soda is my down fall!), and have been drinking more water. I also have started walking on the treadmill. Haven't really done much other than that. I have to come up with a plan and stick with it!

Yesterday I spend all day at the computer doing BL stuff. DH was not happy that I did not get anything done in our home office. First thing this morning my DIS is down. I just knew DH did some black magic on my computer, but then I got an email from a team member saying they could not get on either. I left to do errands and returned home to find the DIS is up.

I would love to sit and chat, but I still have that work to do in the office.

Quickly - Red Team - how was your day yesterday? I drank my water, excercised during the BL on TV, and did not eat after 8 pm. WOE was not 100%, but it was better than it has been and I only got 3 f & v. I don't count potatoes as veggies - too much starch. Today will be better.

Question of the Day

What is your healthy or low cal dessert to satisfy that sweet tooth?

Me first - the other day I was upset and wanted ice cream - I had cottage cheese with some fruit mixed in. It wasn't ice cream but satisfied the craving and is much better for me.

So check in red team and if you'd like answer the question of the day. If you have any question suggestions for the future email or PM me.

I better get to work and you better have a healthy day.

I have been "dieting" for 3 weeks today. I have had much smaller portions and all but given up soda. I am up to between 3-4 bottles of water a day which is truly a miracle for me. Yesterday was tough, I sent my weight to another Dis member by mistake and was horrified and was never going to come back here again. Even tougher was I had not eaten a lot yesterday at all, plain bagel with a smidge of margerine and 100 calorie pack of Oreo's, then last night I ate about 1/4 c. cooked spinach-which I adore and 1/4 of a boneless porkchop and by 8PM had a massive headache. I then ate a handful of Life cereal to try and combat the headache. :sad2: I need to learn to eat approp. meals so that I do not do that again. My favorite desert in the last 3 weeks has been either a 100 calorie pack of cookies as a treat 2x a week or fruit. GO RED, we can do it!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Question of the Day - September 5th

My favorite low-calorie/sweet-tooth desserts:

*an apple or plum from my own backyard :teeth:

*3 Trader Joe's triple ginger snap cookies & a cup of hot tea, either Twining's Earl Grey Decaf or Republic of Tea's Orange Ginger Mint. (The Orange Ginger Mint is spicy/sweet without adding sugar, too!)

agnes!
PS - I walked 1.1 miles this morning.
