I’m turning into a tea snob. I can’t say I’m overly happy about it. At work, we have a cafeteria in our building which sells iced tea. It’s okay I guess. But I soon discovered the coffee machine in the break room has a hot water spout. Factor in the ice machine and the filtered water machine and even my feeble brain was able to figure out that I could save a considerable pile of cash by making my own brew. Spreading the icing on the proverbial cake is the massive pile of Sugar and Sweet N Low that they keep stocked. (I think it’s because they took away our retirement plan. I guess the figure they’ll let us load up on stuff that causes cancer and diabetes so we won’t need one for nearly as long.)

Anyway, a couple of months ago I was strolling through the BIG grocery store here and headed down the International aisle. I always find it fascinating to see what they have. I don’t know what most of the stuff is, but it’s fun to see anyway. (OH – Side Note – Good Eats had a special on Japanese Cuisine the other day and I found out they sell all the ingredients here for Miso soup. Going to have to try it as soon as I figure out what to serve along with it.)

So there I was strolling down the International Foods aisle, minding my own business, perfectly content to look, when I saw a sign advertising British tea for 50% off. (Typhoo to be exact.) I needed some more tea bags for work so I figured why not give it a shot? I brewed some up, sweetened the mix, iced it down (an act of horror and outrage to all Brits I’m sure) and tried a sip. It was different. I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not. But I kept brewing and sipping and brewing and sipping and now I find that I actually prefer the stuff to Lipton.

How can this be exactly? I grew up on Lipton. I love Lipton. It’s tradition. (Insert Fiddler on the Roof soundtrack here.) Yet somehow, I find the need to wet my whistle with Typhoo. Is it the end of the world? No. Is it even earth shattering? Not really. Does it bug me? Yeah. I think I’ll have some tea and ponder it a bit more.

I was just about to drift off when I heard the rain pelting the window. Ahhhhhh……my favorite weather for hitting up dreamland.

Oh my gosh... one of my most favoritest Disney experiences EVER! Napping during a FL rainstorm.

I rode the purple stallion across a plain of golden angel hair pasta and was charging into battle with a giant man-eating summer sausage when an orangutan turned the airplane into the wind, and my parachute deployed. As I drifted slowly down, the pinball hit the right ramp and my bamboo plant needed to be watered. Fortunately I was wearing a cumber bun and saved the lives of four terriers and an aging duck.

How do you come up with this stuff?! Hilarious!

I forgot to mention that one of the things we had picked up that morning in Gear Works was a pressed coin collection album.

I'd like to do this for my DS on our next trip. How much does it cost to squash said coin? Do you just bring a big roll of coins with you? How does that work?

This was a new grand adventure for everyone. I had a vague idea as to how the ride was setup and the way the queue worked and such, but to experience it first hand was something altogether different. The girls were certainly excited.

Wow! Your FIRST Soarin' Experience?! I'm so glad you loved it!

Even with a Fastpass for Soarin, don’t expect to walk right into the place. We still had a good 25 minute wait to board after entering the fast pass line.

My DH and I were ranking the lines at WDW on our last trip. This one ranks 2nd WORST (behind Toy Story Mania). We LOVE the ride, and think it's worth the wait... but we can't stand how you just stand there, not moving, for such large chunks of time. It's the nature of the ride, but still annoying! Maybe if they could add two more theaters

Finally, it was our turn to line up and we wound up in the middle section, back row. To me this was okay because it meant we were centered on the screen, and weren’t too high for the girls. Sometime I would love to be in the top row though.

We ALWAYS ask to wait one more round so that we can have the top center row. I refuse to ride Soarin' any other way now!! When you don't have feet dangling above you, or you don't see the edge of the screen, it makes for a much better ride!

Lipton is really flat though, once you've tried something else. My current tea of choice is the raspberry lipton tea bags..I find that I add a LOT less sugar to that, which is good considering I go through a pitcher every couple days.

It depends on the currency you squash. The penny machines were 51 cents. (The penny to be pressed plus 2 quarters.) The quarter press was $1.25 I believe. There are dime presses as well, but we never found any. Next time, I'll have to get the location list. I took a stack of pennies and quarters with me as I hoped the girls would enjoy them.

Perish the Thought! I still only do iced tea so that's one strike. Plus my idea of "dressing up" is putting on a Polo shirt with my jeans.

Ooh, I think you may be on to something with the British tea. I just recently switched from coffee to tea in the morning (hot, not iced) and its starting to grow on me. I LOVE my coffee, with lots of coffeemate flavored creamer and sugar - but it really does a number on my tummy. Lets just say my mid-mornings are much more... peaceful... on tea. Now, iced tea - thats a different story. Every once in a while, I'll have one at a restaurant instead of soda, but definitely UNsweetened. We lived in Nashville for four years, and I never did get used to the southern tradition of sweet tea. Guess you gotta grow up on it. To me it tastes like soda that went flat

The same is true in the south. I spent my first 3 years of life in Tennessee and drank iced tea in my bottle as a toddler. (I then spent 4 years in Alabama where I became a huge 'Bama fan. I'm probably the only guy in Texas who'll be shouting "Roll 'Tide!" during the championship game. BUT I've never been a UT fan. Now if Texas Tech was playing...well that'd be horse of a different color.)

Good point. The year we were in Minnesotta happed to be record year for cold. I remember well the day one of the guys in the church talked me into going ice fishing. Driving a truck on a frozen lake in minus 30 wind chill to sit in a hut and stare at a hole is apparently quite a thrilling pasttime up that way. I swore if the Good Lord would get
my frozen derrier off that lake, I'd make sure to never put it there again.
