Birnbaum 2005 guide and SSR studio

Who here has the Birnbaum 2005 Official Guide to WDW and can check this info? I just read over on another board that this book is saying that SSR studios sleep 5 people!? Woah-after all the discussion here about room limits- That's what they're advertising? Isn't that against DVC policy? Can someone check this out please?

There is only 1 queen bed and a double sleeper sofa, so I don't know where you would put that 5th person. The 5th is allowed if it's a child under 3, that can fit in a pack-n-play. If it's in the book, it won't be the first error they have printed.

I checked the 2005 guide. The SSR section does not mention anything about the number of people in any of the rooms.

Page 54 in the transportation and accomodation section under Home Away from Home (green section at bottom)

p.s. edited to add I never noticed it before however Boardwalk Villas also says Studios (5). All of the others say 4.

The confusion comes in at BWV because they have some units that are called "studio plus" and have what is called a daybed. These rooms stated that they slept a family of 5 because the daybed would hold a child. Early on DVC abandoned the headache of booking these rooms seperately and now only reserve "studios". Many people have actually stayed in these units and didn't realize the "luggage rack" was actually the "daybed" for a child.

And I'd be willing to bet that SSR has those 'luggage racks' too.

One thing to keep in mind about the Birnbaum guides; they are now made by Disney, a lot of the 'insider' info is gone and won't be coming back. We stopped buying them in '02 after getting one for DL and finding out we knew more than the book did after a single 3 day stay. They've basically become a bigger promotional flyer. :/
