Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

Good morning Losers!:goodvibes. Have not had a chance to get on since yesterday morning so I will try to catch up later today. I'm at the new house with the first load of the day. I'm going to vacuum all the carpets upstairs one final time while the rooms are empty. I have all the linens stripped from the beds in my car and will bring those in after vac. Then going to the bank for $ to tip the movers. I think we will not be able to do much while they are moving furniture, just direct it where to go and stay out of the way. Imagine moving the entire contents of your house!:scared1: Yes, I feel very overwhelmed today!
But this is our 3rd move in 3 years so I know we will get through it. Before this we lived in same house for 14 years.

Great QOTD Christopher! I feel very in tune with my body and it is telling me to step it up !! Once the move is complete, I need a firmer plan in place. I should have started out with a better plan but decided to join the challenge and just wing it the first 2weeks... Not much success in that!!! I feel so HEAVY going up and down stairs with an armload. Looking forward to reading everyone's answers.

Have a great Sat all!:goodvibes

Shawnprincess:

PS how about Sweden, Christopher? Great game!

Oh I had a SHOCK this morning!! DH only weighs 2 lbs more than me:sad1:

When did this happen?? He's been going to the gym for lifting faithfully for over a year and taking his lunch of grilled chicken to work every day and I could see how skinny he was but didn't realize he'd lost over 30 lbs.

OK now I am just procrastinating....gotta get this day started...

QOTD June 16

600full-mickey%27s-philharmagic-poster.jpg

As we enter Fantasyland and head to our left, we come upon Mickey's Philharmagic. Here we are treated to a cavalcade of Disney Stars in 3-D with Donald taking his turn at trying to keep the orchestra in tune with the help of Mickey's Sorcerer hat. He has an adventure of a life time trying to keep up with it as a storm picks the hat and him up and whisks him through some classic Disney scenes.

Now that we are in Week 3, hopefully you have a solid plan that you are following on your road to the healthier you. But as we know storms are potentially brewing around every corner.

How in tune are you with your body and making adaptations to your plan to ensure success? If you are not seeing the results you want, what can you tweak to try and get your body better in tune?

OK since I am not seeing bigger numbers, I am thinking I need to make a change. My system unfortunately has the special ability to adapt too quickly to whatever diet/exercise I am doing so it maintains. I am batting around idea of doing WW online (don't like meetings) so that would be my tweak for the week.

QOTD yesterday hmmmm I guess my ability to be a good mom makes me special. I think I have done a great job with my kids. I have a soon to be 17 yr old DS who still will tell me he loves me in front of anybody. He doesn't drink, do drugs, or smoke. He gets good grades, is respectful, always willing to help people. AND isn't rebellious :yay: so I think he is a success. I am hoping DD who turns 3 next month is just like him when she gets to that age.

Christopher the ro-tel comment made me laugh. As a southern lady that ingredient is such a common thing, I never imagined others didn't know of it. I also thought it was interesting that you have to go to an American food specialty store, that is cool. I know I like going to World Market here to find unusual foods from around the world. Any Swiss food items I should look for and try?

Last thing: the above mentioned DS just got his FL restricted license so he is driving now :scared1: :cool1:I have never been so proud and scared at the same time. Plus sad/happy that he got license. He is growing up too fast for me.

I'm not super in tune with my body yet but I'm getting better. I'm listening to my feet more and my legs. I'm pretty sure I have restless leg syndrome and I have found that when I run, my legs stop acting up. So running and walking is definitely better for my health in that aspect.

What I can do better is to listen to my cravings and my boredom to manage my food.

HI all,

OMG! Been crazy!!! First chance I've had to get on today. Probably won't be on much this week with work and final preps for our much needed vacation! Worked a couple of hours this morning and then went to World Cup soccer day for Izzie. Then came home and mowed the lawn and then went to the transfer station, grocery store and got gas for my car. I haven't felt very well today. I think it's just the stress and lack of sleep the last few days catching up with me! I was awake at 4:30 again this morning with a stomach ache.

Church in the morning and then Father's Day dinner on the grill. Tomorrow will be final packing for the cruise as the rest of the week is insane! Monday I have to take my mom shopping and then Ash has soccer tryouts at night. Tuesday I have to work until 2 and then pick up Izzie and feed the kids and get their hair and make-up done for dress rehearsal for the recital by 3:45. I am a chaperone so I have to be there early. Wednesday is Mom's birthday and the last day of school for the girls. We will be going out to supper when Brian gets home from work. Thursday I have to take Izzie for a follow-up check on her ear with the pediatrician and then work until 2:30 ish. Friday I have to work again in the morning and then go back for my last two clients at 2:30. Saturday is the recital at noon and the limo picks us up at 6!

I called the cc companies to let them know we are going out of the country so that should be all set! AMEX doesn't require you to call but Visa does. We just upgraded to the premier Visa card last week.

Well, enough whining! I need to have the kids sign the Father's Day cards for Brian and my dad and see what I can do in our room!

If I don't post again I will post when we get off the ship one morning that I'm up early at Disney!

TTFN :tigger:

PS Things have improved a bit for us with Brian's job situation and prospects so we hope to have a relaxing vacation!

That's great!! I hope you all have a very relaxing holiday - you deserve it :goodvibes

Glad you are feeling a bit better - hope you feel even better tomorrow :)

I did really well on WW, but had trouble when I met my goal and went off of the plan. Hope you figure out something that surprises your body and it isn't able to adapt too quickly on you ;)

Congrats on DS getting his license!! What out FL - just kidding :) My DD is 6 and the time seems to be flying! She'll be driving in no time. I wish I could figure out a way to slow time down. :)

I'm somewhat in tune with my body. I am beginning to understand the cravings and ways to subdue them. But they sometimes win out in the end :rolleyes1 So I guess, more tweaking is in order ;)

Hi everyone! I somehow don't seem to be able to make the time to get online at home lately. Glad to hear people are doing well, and hopefully overcoming their challenges. Despite a less-than-perfect food week, I got a lot of exercise and even dropped a couple of pounds -- so I call that a win!

Christopher the ro-tel comment made me laugh. As a southern lady that ingredient is such a common thing, I never imagined others didn't know of it. It is just canned, stewed tomatoes diced up and mixed with jalapeno peppers. Great in chili or cheese dips.

My husband is English and shortly after moving to the states we went to a Superbowl party at my best friend's house. She served queso and chips, and DH loved it, and asked for the recipe. She wrote it down for him, and the next day he went to the gourmet grocery store in our neighborhood. See, my friend is a real foodie, so DH assumed the ingredients were "fancy". Imagine, if you can, the look on the man's face behind the cheese counter when DH politely asked for the "vel-vee-tah". :) And he had no idea where to find the Ro-tel...:rotfl:

Oh poor boy :sad1: That swab is the worse thing! I hope he gets over it soon and feels better.

Thanks! He was feeling better after about 24 hours on antibiotics. And, he actually ate dinner today. He really hasn't eaten much since Wednesday...except a couple smoothies from Burger King :)

My youngest was diagnosed with strep today too. Change his toothbrush after a few days on the antibiotic - he may have reinfected himself with the toothbrush. I'm just hoping no one else gets it. We have baseball all weekend again (5 games from Friday to Sunday with 3 of them on Saturday).

I just told DS we need more toothbrushes because he's used his 2 extra in 2 weeks! I do change after 24 hours on antibiotics. I think the 1st antibiotic wasn't a strong enough dosage. Hope your youngest feels better soon. The nurse said they've seen so much strep and they think it's going to be a bad year for everything since we had a mild winter.

QOTD Friday June 16, 2012

What is the hidden gem that makes you unique?

Well, I work for an alternative education for disruptive youth program for middle and high schoolers, so I guess I have some patience? Although, after working there 12 year, it's starting to fade away :rotfl:. My boss always tells me that I have a way with the "crazy" kids. And, in no way is this meant to offend anyone. I have some serious mental health cases and if we don't laugh at things, we will cry.

I officially made it to the single digits!!! 209.2!!! I was 265 this time last year so I am so excited!!

Wanted to share my new fave recipe!! Redneck caviar (aka Texas caviar among other names, many different takes on this recipe, but it is GREAT with Frito Scoops, I allow myself 5 Fritos and load on the caviar for a meal)

2 Cans black beans

1 Can Ro-tel

2 Cans black eyed peas

1 Can white shoe peg corn

¼ - ½ C diced jalapenos

2-3 t minced garlic

¾ -1 cup chopped cilantro

1 onion diced

6 T red wine vinegar

6 T olive oil

2 t oregano

2 t cumin

Drain all canned goods very well. Mix all ingredients together and chill for at least two hours, better the next day. Serve with corn chips or tortilla chips. When I half the recipe, I still use a whole can of corn and Ro-tel. I actually have not used the jalapenos but if you do, I was told to make sure to drain off the liquid if using the canned ones! :) I drain and rinse all the beans and use about 1/2 cup of cilantro! :)

Congrats on the single digits! And I love to make Texas caviar. But, I also love to eat it...too much of it!

Jill, hope your DS is feeling better today! :flower3:

Have a great day all!

Thanks! He is doing much better and had a few good hits at T-ball today.

Aww.... well, at least the strep can be treated.

Best of luck with this yard sale. I hope you sell everything for top price!! Weather looks good for your area for the weekend.

Happy SUNNY Friday friends!!!!:sunny:

DS's 8th grade graduation was nice last night. He looked good and did fine with his speaking part, although it was a bit hard to see him from where I sat. But I got a few good pictures. I teared up a bit when they all walked in to Rascal Flatts " My Wish".... nice touch for the kids to pick that song. And our robotics kids made a NICE showing with almost EVERY team member doing a speaking part or getting a special award or something! DS's best friend got the Principal's award, so that was a nice surprise too!

He enjoyed his home celebration dinner (opted to eat at home rather than a restaurant to save some time). He had requested ribs and french fries. I bought the precooked and sauced ribs that you just heat up and he said they were GREAT! Paired that with Alexia waffle fries and he was a happy boy! I also cooked veggies and grilled chicken breast for DH and myself to be able to stay OP.

Dessert was a Friendly's ice cream cake as a surprise for DS. He ALWAYS requested these for his b.day when he was younger. I got a really tiny one (6 servings). The kids and my parents had it for dessert.... DH and I had fresh strawberries with a bit of Cool Whip Free. I maybe have splurged a bit more if today wasn't weigh in day.

I did have a small loss this week, but I may take another sneak peek tomorrow. We had dinner SO LATE last night (eating dessert at 9:40 :eek:) , it couldn't have helped the scale this morning.

I will post a picture from DS's graduation last night instead of a semi-formal picture..... he wore the same outfit, so why duplicate? :laughing: Plus I don't feel right about posting a picture of his girlfriend on a public forum without her parents' permission.

Off to enjoy the sunshine and relax just a bit before my busy weekend.... graduation party tomorrow and Father's Day on Sunday (plus someone MIGHT be celebrating a birthday on Sunday :rolleyes1).

Will post that picture and then BBL to chat!.....................P

The weather was perfect for our garage sale. We made a good amount of money, too. I told DS9 that I may use some of it to send he and DH (who really doesn't want to go) on a deep sea fishing trip while we are in Topsail Island, NC in a couple weeks. He wants to go so bad. DH? Not so much :lmao:

Sounds like you (well your son) had a fabulous 8th grade graduation! I cried at Kindergarten graduation this year, so who know's what I'll do when they really graduate!

Does DD have any idea where she wants to go to college? Have you visited anywhere yet? Do you think she'll stay close to home or move away?

My baby! ;) ............................P

Oh my goodness! That's a great pic. You've got a handsome boy there!

Happy Friday everyone!! Today is going to be a busy day today, it's my birthday and I somehow got roped into running errands. I am looking forward to dinner tonight with my DH and parents, and we are going to my favorite sushi place.

Happy Birthday!!! Enjoy your dinner.

Afternoon everyone!! ::MickeyMo

Toodles :tinker:

Nice!!

Hey Guys...just a quick post to say I have not forgotten you! Week has been crazy:scared1:
Things have been on again off again with me all week but scale still showed a loss so I am ok with that...
big weekend starting as our youngest goes to the State Special Olympics competition today!! Should be a lot of fun :)

Will try and get some catching up done while I am sitting around tomorrow waiting for competitions to begin.

Hope all are doing great....have a fun weekend.

How was the competition? Where was it located?

OK, which one of you gave me strep???

My throat is killing me!! I hoped it would go away this afternoon but no such luck. It started out on my left side, and now it's working it's way over to the right. But my nose is a little runny too, not much but enough to be annoying.
I'm hoping it's just allergies or something but if it's not better tomorrow, off to emergency I go.
Why does this stuff always happen on a weekend??

Oh no! These things usually happen on Friday nights and weekends just to throw a wrench in a mother's plans :)

QOTD June 16

How in tune are you with your body and making adaptations to your plan to ensure success? If you are not seeing the results you want, what can you tweak to try and get your body better in tune?

I feel like I am pretty in tune with my body. This week I need to tweek my exercise. I didn't make it to the gym at all (prepping for yard sale). I did walk one day and do 2 5k workouts. I am going to do a 5k workout tomorrow and hopefully get to 2 circuit classes and 1 spinning class this week.

Feeling a bit better today although my head feels like it's in a vice.
My throat is scratchy but not a sore as it was yesterday.
So I'm going to wait just a while longer before I go see the Dr.
Thanks for all the well wishes!!!

Glad you're feeling better!

If I don't post again I will post when we get off the ship one morning that I'm up early at Disney!

PS Things have improved a bit for us with Brian's job situation and prospects so we hope to have a relaxing vacation!

Have a great time on vacation. And, I'm glad you'll be able to relax a bit since Brian has some leads.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm all caught up from yesterday and today. Garage sale was fun and we made some good money. We leave for the beach in 2 weeks and I want to figure out what we are doing with our roof before we leave. We have 3 total estimates on the roof. One is $14,070, one is $12,300, and one is $$6700. I don't even know what to do with this info! The one for $6700 is a local small construction company and the other two are bigger roofing companies. We've talked to different people who have used the companies and all are happy with their roofs. DH called the bank about a home equity loan or line of credit so we can do the roof, driveway, and fence (maybe). They suggested even refinancing for a lower % rate for the same amount of years we have left on our original mortgage. DH just needs to decide if he is planning to stay in this house or relocate after he graduates. If he wants to relocate, there is no sense in going the refinancing route. Sorry I'm thinking aloud :)
Tomorow is a relaxing day until 3. Then we are having a cookout at the inlaws. The boys are excited because they have an inground pool and they haven't been in it yet this year. I'm not so happy to be having hamburgers and hot dogs. I will probably eat something before we head over.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday!
Jill
I've been feeling strange the past two days. Very lightheaded, which i don't usually experience, so I don't really know how to deal with it. But I didn't go running today as I was afraid that would not help. It's not all the time, it comes and goes but i don't really like it.
I suspect I'm a bit over tired at the moment, as I worked all day, and I had a rough night with a sick dog (he's fine, just an upset tummy). Work is not bad though, second day at the new job, got paid to read a lot, took a few tours. The Harriet Beecher Stowe house is in Hartford, CT for those who asked, right next to the Mark Twain House.
I made an amazing smoothie this morning. Been craving smoothies lately, but it's hard to find any places that make them without dairy so i have to make my own. The other day i made it with frozen berries, but i don't really like bluberries at all and i didn't like the rasberry seeds so this time i just used fresh strawberries...IT WAS SO GOOD! I was dying over how great this smoothie was. Just strawberries, almond milk, cranberry juice, honey and a few ice cubes.
QOTD - I think i'm too in tune with my body. Especially right this second. I feel all the little aches and pains, even hunger pains! I wish i was in tune enough to know how to make myself feel better. I think I need to work on that!
I'm going to go watch more Deadwood and hope I feel better. These things just come on, maybe sleep will help
hope everyone has a nice fathers day!
I may can help!!!!:banana: I have had teh exact things! I mean I could just lay down because if I stayed up doing something I just felt very lightheaded and not really nauseous but a feeling of something's not right...sometimes on the treadmill I would have this overwhelming feeling of just not being able to finish my workout (3 miles at a time, but have been working out at 30 miles for the week)...I know in the past I have been pretty anemic, and iron pills do not work for me...but I go to the deli and get nice lean roast beef, one slice of it does the trick for me (it's like eating a vitamin really)...but even, when I tried that I still had these 'sinking' spells. So, last week, I bought Gatorade...after every workout I would put 1/2 cup of gatorade in a glass of about 2 cups of water...that did it!! I'm not sure what is in gatorade, but it must be some minerals or electrolytes that were being depleted in me...so, for now those two fixes have worked to eliminate them! Hope this helps!
Hi again! Remember me?:rotfl:I was going to say sorry for my absense but life is crazy busy and looks like it's going to stay that way for a while so I just wanted to let you all know I am reading along when I get the chance and well done to everyone whether you had a good weigh-in or just managed to stick with the challenge.You are all doing a good job:thumbsup2
:hug:to those that need them and I hope/know that something will show up for Brian on the job front!
I'm doing okay weight wise but in part thats just because things are a bit manic at the moment-I swear I'm going "to meet myself coming back" one day soon as we like to say here:thumbsup2
QOTD I could tweak so many things right now to be a bigger loser lol but I'm just trying to keep my head above water and make the best choices I can at any given time:) Seems to be doing the trick:thumbsup2
Keep up the good work everyone!
Keep swimming and we are here with a life buoy if you need it. When things settle and you can tweak things I am sure you w ill see things moving better. Your success last challenge should be an inspiration and guide.
PS how about Sweden, Christopher? Great game!
Shawn, sounds like you are in tune with your body and ready to make the adjustments. Good for you.
Sadly, Sweden got knocked out so my chances in the pool are over and done. But oh yes, what a match!
Oh I had a SHOCK this morning!! DH only weighs 2 lbs more than me:sad1:
It probably was one of the things that made me most uncomfortable about being overweight. I totally get the shock. But I know you are going to kick some of those pounds to the curb.:goodvibes
Sometimes it is these shocks that help get us going. Using it for inspiration to drive you is the key rather than letting it defeat you.
OK since I am not seeing bigger numbers, I am thinking I need to make a change. My system unfortunately has the special ability to adapt too quickly to whatever diet/exercise I am doing so it maintains. I am batting around idea of doing WW online (don't like meetings) so that would be my tweak for the week.
Some bodies are resistant to losing weight and big numbers may not be what your body is predisposed to holding onto the weight regardless of what you try. Just be persistent and try tweaking small things rather than jumping around to frequently from one diet to another. Perhaps counting calories very faithfully will help if you are not doing so already. THe calories in and calories out premise is the one constant regardless of what program you follow.
QOTD yesterday hmmmm I guess my ability to be a good mom makes me special. I think I have done a great job with my kids. Ahhh, can you come give some classes to the parents of my students? ;) Sometimes I think there needs to be Parenting licenses required before reproduction is permitted.
Congrats and good for you on your success of raising responsible children.
Christopher the ro-tel comment made me laugh. As a southern lady that ingredient is such a common thing, I never imagined others didn't know of it. It is just canned, stewed tomatoes diced up and mixed with jalapeno peppers. Great in chili or cheese dips. I also thought it was interesting that you have to go to an American food specialty store, that is cool. I know I like going to World Market here to find unusual foods from around the world. Any Swiss food items I should look for and try?
There is very little in the area of canned foods on offer here in the stores. Fresh produce is the way things go here. I have only 1 can in my cupboard right now and it is a can of English Mushy Peas that were imported.
The main food exports from Switzerland are of course Chocolate and Cheese. I imagine you can find those pretty easily.
Very good reminder. I credit my success from Week 1 to this advantage. But now that we are into the challenge, I think I am on equal pegging with the women and I will hopefully see 1 to 2 pounds a week.
I haven't felt very well today. I think it's just the stress and lack of sleep the last few days catching up with me! I was awake at 4:30 again this morning with a stomach ache.
Church in the morning and then Father's Day dinner on the grill. Tomorrow will be final packing for the cruise as the rest of the week is insane! Monday I have to take my mom shopping and then Ash has soccer tryouts at night. Tuesday I have to work until 2 and then pick up Izzie and feed the kids and get their hair and make-up done for dress rehearsal for the recital by 3:45. I am a chaperone so I have to be there early. Wednesday is Mom's birthday and the last day of school for the girls. We will be going out to supper when Brian gets home from work. Thursday I have to take Izzie for a follow-up check on her ear with the pediatrician and then work until 2:30 ish. Friday I have to work again in the morning and then go back for my last two clients at 2:30. Saturday is the recital at noon and the limo picks us up at 6!
I called the cc companies to let them know we are going out of the country so that should be all set! AMEX doesn't require you to call but Visa does. We just upgraded to the premier Visa card last week.
Well, enough whining! I need to have the kids sign the Father's Day cards for Brian and my dad and see what I can do in our room!
If I don't post again I will post when we get off the ship one morning that I'm up early at Disney!
TTFN :tigger:
PS Things have improved a bit for us with Brian's job situation and prospects so we hope to have a relaxing vacation!
You are going to have a wonderful time on your vacation and hopefully it can be relaxing for you all. Great news for Brian.
I'm somewhat in tune with my body. I am beginning to understand the cravings and ways to subdue them. But they sometimes win out in the end :rolleyes1 So I guess, more tweaking is in order ;)
I understand those cravings. Finding alternative or low calorie substitutes will help out.
Hi everyone! I somehow don't seem to be able to make the time to get online at home lately. Glad to hear people are doing well, and hopefully overcoming their challenges. Despite a less-than-perfect food week, I got a lot of exercise and even dropped a couple of pounds -- so I call that a win!
Congratulations on the loss! Get here when you can...we are finding a lot of very busy people this time of year.
My husband is English and shortly after moving to the states we went to a Superbowl party at my best friend's house. She served queso and chips, and DH loved it, and asked for the recipe. She wrote it down for him, and the next day he went to the gourmet grocery store in our neighborhood. See, my friend is a real foodie, so DH assumed the ingredients were "fancy". Imagine, if you can, the look on the man's face behind the cheese counter when DH politely asked for the "vel-vee-tah". :) And he had no idea where to find the Ro-tel...:rotfl:
It takes a bit of time to get adjusted to the things to find in the shops when you move to a new country. Finding the alternatives and reading labels.
:lmao: Vel-Vee-Tah! Such n odd concoction and I am sure that here in the land of cheese it is a crime to even consider having it in my cupboard.
I'm all caught up from yesterday and today. Garage sale was fun and we made some good money. We leave for the beach in 2 weeks and I want to figure out what we are doing with our roof before we leave. We have 3 total estimates on the roof. One is $14,070, one is $12,300, and one is $$6700. I don't even know what to do with this info! The one for $6700 is a local small construction company and the other two are bigger roofing companies. We've talked to different people who have used the companies and all are happy with their roofs. DH called the bank about a home equity loan or line of credit so we can do the roof, driveway, and fence (maybe). They suggested even refinancing for a lower % rate for the same amount of years we have left on our original mortgage. DH just needs to decide if he is planning to stay in this house or relocate after he graduates. If he wants to relocate, there is no sense in going the refinancing route. Sorry I'm thinking aloud :)
Tomorow is a relaxing day until 3. Then we are having a cookout at the inlaws. The boys are excited because they have an inground pool and they haven't been in it yet this year. I'm not so happy to be having hamburgers and hot dogs. I will probably eat something before we head over.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday!
Jill
Hope you enjoy your Sunday. Sounds like a great way to celebrate Father's Day!
I've been feeling strange the past two days. Very lightheaded, which i don't usually experience, so I don't really know how to deal with it. But I didn't go running today as I was afraid that would not help. It's not all the time, it comes and goes but i don't really like it.
I suspect I'm a bit over tired at the moment, as I worked all day, and I had a rough night with a sick dog (he's fine, just an upset tummy). Work is not bad though, second day at the new job, got paid to read a lot, took a few tours. The Harriet Beecher Stowe house is in Hartford, CT for those who asked, right next to the Mark Twain House.
I made an amazing smoothie this morning. Been craving smoothies lately, but it's hard to find any places that make them without dairy so i have to make my own. The other day i made it with frozen berries, but i don't really like bluberries at all and i didn't like the rasberry seeds so this time i just used fresh strawberries...IT WAS SO GOOD! I was dying over how great this smoothie was. Just strawberries, almond milk, cranberry juice, honey and a few ice cubes.
QOTD - I think i'm too in tune with my body. Especially right this second. I feel all the little aches and pains, even hunger pains! I wish i was in tune enough to know how to make myself feel better. I think I need to work on that!
I'm going to go watch more Deadwood and hope I feel better. These things just come on, maybe sleep will help
hope everyone has a nice fathers day!
Glad to hear the job is going well.
Adjusting your exercise routine based on your body is important. Intensity and timing are key factors to consider.
Smoothies have been plaguing my mind lately too and they are not easy to find at all here. Thanks for sharing your basic recipe. I will need to give it a try.
I may can help!!!!:banana: I have had teh exact things! I mean I could just lay down because if I stayed up doing something I just felt very lightheaded and not really nauseous but a feeling of something's not right...sometimes on the treadmill I would have this overwhelming feeling of just not being able to finish my workout (3 miles at a time, but have been working out at 30 miles for the week)...I know in the past I have been pretty anemic, and iron pills do not work for me...but I go to the deli and get nice lean roast beef, one slice of it does the trick for me (it's like eating a vitamin really)...but even, when I tried that I still had these 'sinking' spells. So, last week, I bought Gatorade...after every workout I would put 1/2 cup of gatorade in a glass of about 2 cups of water...that did it!! I'm not sure what is in gatorade, but it must be some minerals or electrolytes that were being depleted in me...so, for now those two fixes have worked to eliminate them! Hope this helps!
The Gatorade idea is really good. We deplete things from our body through exercise that we do not realize. This is another thing I will keep in mind especially as my Couch to 10 K runs get more intense.
My answer to the yesterday's QOTD.....
I have found that my body responds to low carbs and high protein for my balance of food. I know this is not the answer for everyone but it works for me.
It appears that people are really busy this weekend. I hope everyone is doing well and busy with healthy happy activities.
BRB with today's QOTD!
QOTD for Sunday June 17
As we exit from Mickey's Philharmagic and continue our visit to Fantasyland, we come upon Peter Pan's Flight. Climb aboard a Pirate Galleon and take flight over London and off to Neverland as we join the boy who won't grow up.
We know we can not really stay young for ever, but how do you strive to stay young at heart?
Good SUnday morning everone.
Sorry I haven't been on in a couple of days. Graduation on Thursday was fine. ONe speech did border on being nasty. They talked about the amount of administration and security guards watching the bathrooms. These are good kids and what they said did have some truth to it and some people didn't like it.
Sometime on Thursday I hurt my lower back. I had to sit through the inservice day on Friday in pain. It also didn't help that it was the WORST inservice I have ever sat through. The low light was that they told us tea and coffee would be there when we started at 7:30. We get there and there is muffins, warm orange juice, warm water, warm aplle juice and that is that. We could have gone to a donut shop 2 minutes away but no one wanted to be late. Well adminstration never made it there until 8. Then they proceed to read their power point to us. We then met and tried to figure out how to teach in block schedule which no one had done before. It was the worst day I have ever had.
Yesterday I spent the day sewing with some friends. We were making pillow cases for kids with cancer so that was a good day.
Thanks Christopher. Peter Pan's flight is one of our favorite rides.
Things that make me feel young at heart:
playing with real cards reminds me of summer at my grandmother's house
riding my bike
water parks
and of course
going to DW.
We are going to my dsis's house today. Last year all she served was green salad and steak. My guys like steak but they need something besides steak for lunch/dinner. Even if she served rolls so they could make sandwiches would have helped. I am making pulled pork (I just put it in the crock pot) and bring it with us with some rolls. What ever is left over ds2 could take it home with him.
DS2 came home for the weekend. When I got home he told me look in the freezer. He had brought me some fresh picked blueberries that he froze because he knows I do that every summer. Got to love him.
Have a happy and healthy Father's Day. If you are going to be with your dad today enjoy being with him.
I took this staying young thing a bit extreme :rolleyes1 I went and had a lil princess. My son was teenager and no longer wanted to play in toy stores, disney parks, or see kiddie movies. I still liked those things, plus toys and cartoons, so I made the decision to have another baby to play with. It is so much fun getting to re re experience it all over. With DS I got to do all the boy stuff, now with DD I get to do girly things. I figure by time she is too old to play with me I will have a grandbaby LOL kids are great at keeping you young.
Good morning losers! We are up late and moving slowly at my house this morning. Everything went smoothly yesterday except the moving van tore a 15ft branch off a Bradford pear tree hanging over the driveway at the rental house. Hope it does not cause us to lose security deposit. We still bought the crew lunch and tipped them well. They did a great job otherwise and only one of them was driving;)
Thanks Rose and Buffy for the stories about your DH's...Unfortunately my DH is only 5'10 and stocky build, very muscular. I will have to follow Christopher's advice and use this for motivation.
Christopher, how do you afford anything in CH??? Such an expensive country but I bet it's great to live there. No commissaries either I guess. We had friends who could get things for us.
I have to run, the cats chewed through my IPad charger cord last night and I'm almost out of power...BBL
Shawnprincess:
Ok, found another power cord...dang cats are out to destroy everything. At least they are using the box at the new house.
Our sweet neighbor brought us a pan of warm brownies last night at 9:00:eek:
Of course she was rail thin!
QOTD, I agree with (name?) L&SMom, being around kids sure does keep you young. I'm not around young kids much but I still feel young at heart. I think being active, trying new things, not being afraid to look silly keep you young at heart. What a thought provoking question!
L&SMOM, sounds like you have done a great job with your DS!
Dona, sorry about the sore back. I am not a fan of the block schedule. We have been on it for 3years now. In 7th and 8th, we had same 8 courses all year but alternated 4 each week. Confusing and hard for BOYS to keep organized. In 9th we had 4 classes per semester. Long 90 minute classes and very fast instruction. DSactually asked his Honors Geometry teacher to slow down once and she said she couldn't, she had to go at that pace to finish the semester on time!
Jill, congrats on the successful yard sale. Good luck with the roof. I hate things like that and making those decisions. I continue to second guess myself long after things are over.
Trina, the job sounds great! So you don't work at PS anymore? I missed that.
I had a short bout with vertigo once for a few weeks and it was awful. I think it came from going on a cruise.
LMHall (name?) GREAT job on the weight loss:cheer2: Wow, that is so motivating!!!
Pamela, great picture of DS. You must be so proud!
Katrina :woohoo: on the new car:banana: I keep forgetting to tell you that I've always heard PCOS is a spectrum disease like autism. You may have more or less symptoms than another person with it. I never got an official diagnosis but my sister did and I have many of her same symptoms. I used Clomid to get pregnant.
Hello to everyone else, I know I am forgetting some people but I need to get moving. Still lots to do here.
Have a great Father's Day. I am still blessed to have my Dad around at age 51. He is 78 years young.
Shawnprincess:
QOTD: To stay young, I try to relax and go with the flow of things. I watch my kids and try to see through their eyes. Once we grow up we have so many responsibilities, it's nice to just chill a bit! And like someone else said DISNEY!!! It does a person good :rotfl:
QOTD for Sunday June 17
We know we can not really stay young for ever, but how do you strive to stay young at heart?
I four things that keep me young at heart! My kids, add if you add their friends I have a thousand reasons to stay young. I'm the team mom for all the kids Cross Country teams, and I'm the "cool mom" so I inherit a lot of kids weekly as well. They keep me on my toes but I love it.
Quote of the day
When you discard arrogance, complexity, and a few other things that get in the way, sooner or later you will discover that simple, childlike, and mysterious secret known to some: Life is Fun!
***********************************
Not feeling so hot today. My throat doesn't hurt much anymore but my left ear hurts, my head hurts, my nose is pretty stuffed up and my chest is really congested with a rough cough. I think I will call my DR tomorrow because I suspect some kind of upper respiratory infection. They typically come on very fast for me.
Tuesday was supposed to be my official start to my Marathon training but I don't know how this will affect things.
