Question of the Day

232323232fp733_3_nu7738_63_257_WSNRCG33763_4763348nu0mrj1.jpg

This is from my last trip to DW. It was only dh and I on this trip. We found these guys alone in AK in the back so we stopped. Who is your favorite character?

Have a happy and healthy day.

Definitely Ariel!! Ever since I was a kid, that was the only movie I ever wanted from the video store, the only toy I wanted to play with, all that. She's still my favorite!

Kaiti, what do you mean Emily is not nice!!?;):laughing: I don't usually watch shows like that either but watched the first one since in Charlotte and got HOOKED!
Shawnprincess:

Yeah! That's what I've heard, but can't say for sure. I heard she's very motivated by money and that's one of the reasons she's on the show in the first place, yadda yadda...Plus, her and her finacee got pregnant, THEN his family found out and was kinda making them get married and then he passed away, and that's why she was taken care of by HIS family and works for Hendrick Motorsports doing some easy desk job. None of this is actually confirmed, I just heard it, so I really shouldn't be spreading it all around! :guilty:

*************
I have a question and need some input from you guys. I'm gonna order a new iPod, and want to get it engraved on the back...the problem is, I don't know what to engrave on there!

Do you guys have any ideas of what to put on there that's Disney related??

:eek::mad::sad1::scared:

Things just can't seem to go smoothly in my life these days. Brian abruptly lost his job last night! He is so upset and stressed. He just came to bed about an hour ago up trying to make contacts, update his resume and try and make it so we can still get our email. It's too late to cancel our trip at this point and I think it would kill us to have to do that. I contacted a former co-worker of his right away who texted him and he will hopefully be able to talk with tomorrow. He is in a training all day tomorrow. He isn't getting paid tomorrow and is owed a ton of vacation/comp time, etc. He just doesn't know what to do. He is totally beside himself right now and just can't be comforted. He'll be contacting unemployment office today and the guy in charge is contacting the AG's office to see what can be done to get paid.

This couldn't come at a worse time! Hopefully he will make some strong contacts today. He did have someone on FB tell him to contact him as he may have something for him as they are firing someone else. Brian doesn't have the exact knowledge of computer stuff but the guy said that he would worry about that another time!

I've got to deal with work today for 3 clients. 2 later this morning and 1 tonight.

I am not going to stress eat or drink like I have done in the past. It's not worth it. I have my protein bars ready for lunch and I will drink lots of water. I am getting a pedicure by a new nail tech we are hiring and getting my waxing done this morning. I will think positively and we will get through this! Just not the way I wanted to start my vacation.

TTFN :tigger:

Aye Tracey!!! :hug: to you and the family. I hope Brian will relax and be able to enjoy his vacation. You have a great attitude:goodvibes. Sounds like you are so busy, you won't have time to sit around and brood. IMO, it's almost better to lose a job abruptly like that than to wonder for months if you are getting laid off.
Keep calm as you stated and hopefully he will get a BETTER job soon! LMK if I can do anything to help:goodvibes

XOXO,

Now this is a hard one. I like so many of the characters. Mickey is great but so is Donald. My DS adores Stitch, DD likes Jake and the Neverland Pirates crew. In the park I am partial to Pluto. He always takes time to play with the kids, even if they are asleep. Kids get a surprise seeing themselves with Pluto when pictures come back. I can't seem to pick just one.

but it looks like you're all making lemonade....

Donac-- first time I've ever seen you---you're cute! :goodvibes He's not really a Disney character but Farley the Fiddler is our favorite-- he made our visit very special last time.
Gotta run to work-- ttfn

Hi all,

Gone through a full range of emotions today! Thought for awhile that our health insurance had been canceled at the beginning of the month which meant we would have been liable for Izzie's surgery and ER visit! But, someone in the AGs office put some fear into the owners about what would happen if they didn't own up and change things.

So, update! Brian will get paid tomorrow and will get his 4 weeks of vacation time. He will also be going into the office! Probably won't get his comp time though. They will also be keeping our health insurance until the end of the month. It will be interesting being in FL for the first 5 days of July without insurance apparently.

Brian made several contacts today and got his resume out there today. He is on LinkedIn. Facebook was amazing today with all of our friends trying to help us out! It made us both feel a little bit more optimistic! Brian hasn't slept in over a day. He came to bed for awhile but never got to sleep. I think we're heading to bed soon. I only got about 3 hours last night.

Gave 3 massages today. People still aren't tipping well with the groupons. I have 1 regular client tomorrow and then 4 straight groupon clients. I'm going to be wiped out tomorrow night! We are having Mexican for dinner tomorrow night after Ash's last dance class before the dress rehearsal!

I made homemade pizza for dinner. I had a bit too much I think but I earned it! I'll be eating protein bars and Fiber Plus bars between massages tomorrow!

Well, time to finish up stuff before going to bed!

I don't think I can pick a favorite character. I love them all :)

Oh no! I'm so sorry! I'm glad he has made some contacts and maybe you will be able to relax and enjoy vacation.

Hello everyone! I’m just wanted to jump on and introduce myself. I’m Beth 32 and from SC. I’m finally in the right mind set to start losing weight and thought this might be something good to help me on my journey to a healthier me.

Welcome! Glad you're ready to start losing weight. You'll find lots of support here.

I have 2 favorites, Belle and Prince Naveen! I've always love the movie Beauty and the Beast, but ever since we took my DSD to Disneyland for the first time, Belle has been my favorite. My DSD (dressed as Cinderella) was in AW of the Princesses at the meet and greet, but she had a 20 min conversation with Belle and it was PRICELESS! Belle was attentive and super sweet. We have a picture of the 2 of them, Belle and "Princess Cinderella Kira" (which is how my DSD introduced herself to Belle) and the eye contact those 2 had made me speechless. Prince Naveen became a favorite when we were in Disney World doing the Princess and the Frog meet n greet. My DS was scared of the characters and so I was holding him off to the side while my DSD got her picture taken. Prince Naveen took extra time to come over to meet DS in a very calm manner, because he had to meet the only boy that he'd ever seen wearing a shirt with only him and no Tiana on it. It was the only picture with a character that my DS wasn't crying in from that trip. :love:

I absolutely love Beauty and the Beast. Our first trip, DS was 4. We went to meet the princesses and was so scared he wouldn't go to Cinderella. Belle was next. He didn't want to go over until she started asking what boys his age like to do at home. Well, that got him started about having Nerf gun fights. Belle was so sweet. She said it sounded scary & DS assured her it wasn't. Then, she asked if Beast could come over and play sometime, and he said yes. He was good with face characters after Belle. And, Prince Naveen was so awesome, too. He was high-fiving my boys and they had such a blast. I have some great pictures of them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Took DS6 to MedExpress and sure enough he has strep again. Poor thing. They gave him a different antibiotic so I'm hoping this works.
I'm all ready for the big garage sale tomorrow and Saturday. I have a feeling that I will be exhausted on Sunday!
That's about all for now. I'm off to get some sleep since I have to wake up early tomorrow. Have a great night!
Healthy Habits Week 3: Fantasyland
As I’m sure most of you know, Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom at WDW is a delight to children and adults alike. It is home to many different attractions, including Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, Dumbo, “it’s a small world,” Mad Tea Party, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Peter Pan’s Flight, and of course, Cinderella Castle. This week, the attractions of Fantasyland come to life as we incorporate them into our healthier lifestyle.
Mini-Challenge #1: Have you ever noticed how much walking is involved in moving around Fantasyland? I don’t know about you, but I go to certain attractions based on how quickly the line increases instead of going in location order. This is an added exercise bonus! To help you move quickly, you need to be hydrated. This week, we are improving our water consumption keeping in mind that each day doesn’t have to be perfect. Give yourself 1 point for drinking a total of 64 oz. of water on 5/7 days. You can count up to 8 oz. of tea or coffee toward your total for the day.
Mini-Challenge #2: When I go on a carousel more than once, I have to use a different horse the second time. I tend to be very detail-oriented and obsessed with record-keeping, so my journal would come out and I’d write down which horses I rode on so far. This same time of record-keeping is very helpful for weight loss. However, it is up to you if you want to count calories or points or watch portions, etc. This week, stick to your weight loss or maintenance plan for 5/7 days and you earn 1 point. Please know that you are welcome to change your approach each week.
Mini-Challenge #3: Have you ever noticed how much dancing those characters in “it’s a small world” do? They must accrue a lot of exercise minutes. This week, give yourself 1 point if you stuck to your exercise plan.
Mini-Challenge #4: Mickey’s PhilharMagic brings me back to my childhood days of watching the Disney channel while my father was awake and getting ready for work while my mom was still sleeping. The incorporation of the senses in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh makes for a relaxing attraction. In the spirit of the relaxing day featured in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, spend time relaxing on 3/7 days. You get to decide how much time you want to take and whether or not you do relax as “me” time. Example: You find going to the beach with your kids relaxing.
Mini-Challenge #5: Have a “Mad Tea Party.” Give yourself 1 point if you have a party-like meal that is on plan. You should have some type of appetizer (salad, soup, crudités), an entrée, and a dessert. You could even have some tea.
Mini-Challenge #6: The beautiful artistic work in Peter Pan’s Flight amazes me, especially as it is an older attraction. You are on a journey to healthier you whether you are losing or maintaining weight. It doesn’t happen overnight like your trip to Neverland, but it may happen more quickly if you have a specific goal. Give yourself 1 point for thinking about the goal(s) you already wrote. Reflect on it/them and make any necessary changes. Remember, that you don't want to have too many or too few. Make it/them as specific as possible. Here is one of mine. By the end of the challenge, I will be able to walk 5K on the treadmill. I am not giving myself a time limit or requiring myself to run any of it.
Please feel free to PM with any questions. I know I have a few of them and I will catch up tomorrow. I am exhausted tonight.
Have a great week everyone!
Well, DS6 was fine during all the animal visiting. But, I noticed around 5:00 that he was laying on our couch under a blanket and not wanting dinner. I took his temp and it was 101.1. And, he sounds streppy now (his voice always sounds funny when he gets it). So, I think we'll be calling the pediatrician and trying to get a throat swab tomorrow. He freaks when he needs to get swabbed, so I would rather DH take him, but he's at clinicals until 3.
Jill
Oh poor boy :sad1: That swab is the worse thing! I hope he gets over it soon and feels better.
Lisa -- Lynda, you may be amazed how the technology has changed for new bikes. DH just got one and it makes my old bike look like a clunker!
Really? I can't wait to look into that! We had a friend working on my husbands bike and found out that the handle bars were put on backwards when we bought it and we never even knew!! HAHAHA!! But he was telling us we should go to a bike shop for new bikes because they're better quality. I think after we get settled in at our new home we will look at bikes for the whole family.
Thursday QOTD: GOOFY!!! I love so many characters, obviously, but Goofy has always been special for some reason. :love:
Took DS6 to MedExpress and sure enough he has strep again. Poor thing. They gave him a different antibiotic so I'm hoping this works.
I'm all ready for the big garage sale tomorrow and Saturday. I have a feeling that I will be exhausted on Sunday!
That's about all for now. I'm off to get some sleep since I have to wake up early tomorrow. Have a great night!
Jill
My youngest was diagnosed with strep today too. Change his toothbrush after a few days on the antibiotic - he may have reinfected himself with the toothbrush. I'm just hoping no one else gets it. We have baseball all weekend again (5 games from Friday to Sunday with 3 of them on Saturday).
Good morning to all you Losers!!
It is Friday which means we are starting a new week in the challenge. That also means it is time to take care of the business end of things.
First of all, a BIG :thanks: to Dona for her coaching last week! Week 2 can be a hard one to get through, believe me, I know. And your questions really helped us keep a focus on the day and week ahead of us. THANK YOU!:cool1:
If you have not realized by now......I am stepping up to the coaching position today:cheer2:. I think this is comng at a perfect time for me as I had a rather up and down Week 2 :rolleyes1 following a stellar Week 1. So I am hoping that as coach I can inspire you all and myself to stay on TARGET!!
I have been in communication with CC and we have chosen Fantasyland as our theme for the week. As you can see she has already posted the new Healthy Habits for the week. If you have been participating, hopefully you will find they are helpful to keep you on track for the week. If you have not been participating, I challenge as many of you to join in this week. I would love to see at least 75% of our challengers with their names on the list for participating next week! Step up and give it a try.
Please remember to do the following today:
  1. Weigh in and send your result to Sue via Private Message at dvccruiser76
  2. Send your Healthy Habits results for the last week to CC via Private Message to cclovesdis
Thank you to both Sue and CC for keeping track of these and reporting to us early in the next week how people did for Week 2.:thumbsup2
All right, I think that takes care of all the business. I will be back to post the QOTD soon!
Have a great Week 3!
Christopher
QOTD Friday June 16, 2012
Clipboard02.jpg
As we ventured down Main Street with the Castle luring us even further into the park, we mount the sweeping ramps that lead to the entrance to Fantasyland.....beckoning us onward we find ourselve welcomed into Cinderella's Castle and are greeted by a hidden gem of the park....the beautiful mosaics in the passageway. The hidden gem that some people miss all together because they focus on the outside structure of the castle.
Many of us may be focused on the outside structure. Maybe others have been focused on that too. They and we forget about the inner person. Share a little about what makes you beautiful on the inside that maybe others don't see right away.
What is the hidden gem that makes you unique?
:eek::mad::sad1::scared:
Things just can't seem to go smoothly in my life these days. Brian abruptly lost his job last night! He is so upset and stressed. He just came to bed about an hour ago up trying to make contacts, update his resume and try and make it so we can still get our email. It's too late to cancel our trip at this point and I think it would kill us to have to do that. I contacted a former co-worker of his right away who texted him and he will hopefully be able to talk with tomorrow. He is in a training all day tomorrow. He isn't getting paid tomorrow and is owed a ton of vacation/comp time, etc. He just doesn't know what to do. He is totally beside himself right now and just can't be comforted. He'll be contacting unemployment office today and the guy in charge is contacting the AG's office to see what can be done to get paid.
This couldn't come at a worse time! Hopefully he will make some strong contacts today. He did have someone on FB tell him to contact him as he may have something for him as they are firing someone else. Brian doesn't have the exact knowledge of computer stuff but the guy said that he would worry about that another time!
I've got to deal with work today for 3 clients. 2 later this morning and 1 tonight.
I am not going to stress eat or drink like I have done in the past. It's not worth it. I have my protein bars ready for lunch and I will drink lots of water. I am getting a pedicure by a new nail tech we are hiring and getting my waxing done this morning. I will think positively and we will get through this! Just not the way I wanted to start my vacation.
TTFN :tigger:
So sorry for your troubles. The trip will do you good. My DH had a serious accident years ago when we had a trip planned. We went, was just what DH needed to help him recover. There are so many programs in place for job loss these days - you shouldn't worry too much. Unemployement is a breeze in MA - done all online. Check is in your account by Tuesday for the previous week. You can even work a few hours without losing benefits. (DH was unemployed for about 2 months 2 years ago)
Don't forget the Dept of Labor too - they may be of some help.
Makes me all the more grateful that my parents and my DMIL still drive and can do all of that stuff themselves!
I don't want to scare you - but my DF needs cataract surgery, and in the same breath the DR was telling me that DF could still drive with the eyesite he has.
Don't worry my feelings weren't hurt. Back in 1986 I was 1 of 5 woman in the US that was a safety inspector in a division of the DOT. I have been tough as nails since.
My DS has not officially chosen his Eagle project - but one of the adult leaders is the Chief of the FD. My DF is a retired FD, so Connor would like to do something in conjunction with the FD and dedicate it to my DF.
Good morning losers:goodvibes Thanks to Dona for being our coach last week and welcome and thank you Christopher!!! What a great question and a great analogy.
I think I am beautiful on the inside because I am caring, generous and empathetic to others. I am very sensitive to the needs of others ! I am open minded and try to see things from all points of view. Not sure that makes me unique but I like myself for who I am and you can't get any better than that! Now, to work on the outside:laughing:
Good luck with WI today everyone:goodvibes I will be honest and say that even after 2 weeks I am not quite back into healthy living mode. We are moving this weekend to our new house and I am just trying to hold it together until we get that complete. For the past month we have done painting at the new house and had the floors refinished and some other minor renovations and slowly moving our stuff over. The movers will move the furniture tomorrow and we have until June 30th to be out of the rental house. Our cats have torn up some stuff and we need to get that repaired and get the house cleaned. I'm tired just thinking about all that needs to get done!
Well, time to get to work. Today I am wearing pants with a broken zipper! Covered by a long shirt. I love these pants and won't let a broken zipper stop me from wearing them:lmao:
Have a great day all!
Shawnprincess:
I officially made it to the single digits!!! 209.2!!! I was 265 this time last year so I am so excited!!
What makes me special? Hmmm...I love children, I have a special way with them and see them for how special God made each of them...oh and with horses, too..they are amazing creatures!!
I also hit all 6 points on healthy habits this week!! WOW!! I walked 30 miles for the second week in a row...figured the scale would drop like bricks but it's slowly coming off..in the two weeks I have lost 3.8 pounds...I hope I can tweak some of my eating to help my body better fuel itself...not sure I'm eating enough calories and know I need more raw veggies!
I did find that I was getting weak/light headed and overall not feeling well on some days...I bought 2 things of Gatorade (heavy on sugars!) and poured 1/4th Gatorade into my full glass of water after each 3mile walk...it did the trick!! I guess my minerals/salts were being depleted with the workouts...I hate to add that kind of sugar in, but my body must need it with the amount of working out I've done.
Wanted to share my new fave recipe!! Redneck caviar (aka Texas caviar among other names, many different takes on this recipe, but it is GREAT with Frito Scoops, I allow myself 5 Fritos and load on the caviar for a meal)
2 Cans black beans
1 Can Ro-tel
2 Cans black eyed peas
1 Can white shoe peg corn
¼ - ½ C diced jalapenos
2-3 t minced garlic
¾ -1 cup chopped cilantro
1 onion diced
6 T red wine vinegar
6 T olive oil
2 t oregano
2 t cumin
Drain all canned goods very well. Mix all ingredients together and chill for at least two hours, better the next day. Serve with corn chips or tortilla chips. When I half the recipe, I still use a whole can of corn and Ro-tel. I actually have not used the jalapenos but if you do, I was told to make sure to drain off the liquid if using the canned ones! :) I drain and rinse all the beans and use about 1/2 cup of cilantro! :)
Sorry, I haven't been responding to everyone's posts lately. I have been reading, just don't have the time to go back and respond we have so many losers here (which is awesome!!). Between work and friends this summer is so busy!
Thanks Dona for coaching this week!
QOTD: I am very generous and selfless. I will always give up something that is convenient for me for someone else, or I will buy things for people I love, or volunteer. I hate getting gifts but I love giving them. I am always here to help!!
Hey, didn't I say I was going to participate in HH this week. -looks around nervously-
Yeah...didn't quite write it all down. But I will this week...I will!
I had a great weigh in and am back into the 130s! Only 13lbs away from my ultimate goal now. :goodvibes Hope you all have a great weigh-in and a nice day!
Thanks, Dona, for coaching this week! :thanks: I loved all your pictures.
And a big, BL welcome to our new coach this week, Christopher! I know I'm going to enjoy your Fantasyland theme this week! princess:
Hello everyone! I’m just wanted to jump on and introduce myself. I’m Beth 32 and from SC. I’m finally in the right mind set to start losing weight and thought this might be something good to help me on my journey to a healthier me.
:welcome: Beth!
Prince Naveen became a favorite when we were in Disney World doing the Princess and the Frog meet n greet. That was a great magical Disney moment! pixiedust:
I'm way behind this week - work and the last week of school have absolutely snowed me! DD7 hyperextended her knee a little at gymnastics yesterday, and DD5 has inexplicably started having potty accidents (both day and night) after 2 1/2 years of being potty trained. :confused: But the weather is beautiful, we leave a week from tomorrow on vacation, and I'm inhaling pink, exhaling blue.
Liz, sorry for the pre-vacation crunch. :hug: It is the pits but the reward is vacation at the end of the grind. :beach:
But my favorite was this one:
sweeps_2.jpg
The kids were dressed as sweeps for the Halloween party and we had breakfast at 1900 but Mary for some reason was not there. We went to Guest Services at MK and asked if there was any way we could see Mary at Cinderella's. They snuck us up there between breakfast and Lunch to take some pics. The CM that brought us up asked if we were coming back any time soon and we said yes, at Christmas. She said perfect! Bring the boys costumes and come back for the parade, Bert and Mary will be dressed for the Sweeps scene in the movie. OK awesome!!
So we come back and we watch the parade back in Liberty Square. Alice breaks character and leaves her dance routine to drag Bert over to meet the boys. After the parade we went back up to Guest Services and asked if there was any possible way we could meet Bert because for some reason they had a 12:00 parade and a 3:00 parade. We figured they would stay in costume until the 2nd parade was over.
They took us back to this little room and we waited and waited. Well here comes Mary and Bert!! We probably spent an hour with them talking about the movie and the costumes etc. After they left, we were told to stand in a special spot near the barber shop for the 2nd parade. Bert, Mary, all the walking characters came up during the parade and were handing out High Fives and hugs. It was awesome!!!
Best disney moment ever!!
So, Quote of the day:
It's so important to make someone happy. Start with yourself
Because we all know characters make us happy!! But we have to get out there and meet them to make it happen.
Great quote, Buffy, and another great story of a magical Disney memory! :smickey:
I have a question and need some input from you guys. I'm gonna order a new iPod, and want to get it engraved on the back...the problem is, I don't know what to engrave on there!
Do you guys have any ideas of what to put on there that's Disney related??
Sorry no help on that one -- I have a big old Otterbox case on my iPhone so I don't have to :faint: every time it hits the deck when I am running. There are tons of cute things for your iPod though -- maybe something blingy? pricness:
Tracey, glad things are looking up today! :flower3:
Jill, hope your DS is feeling better today! :flower3:
CC, love the Fantasyland HH this week! :love:
Lisa -- Lynda, you may be amazed how the technology has changed for new bikes. DH just got one and it makes my old bike look like a clunker!
Really? I can't wait to look into that! We had a friend working on my husbands bike and found out that the handle bars were put on backwards when we bought it and we never even knew!! HAHAHA!! But he was telling us we should go to a bike shop for new bikes because they're better quality. I think after we get settled in at our new home we will look at bikes for the whole family.
Oh, they are so much lighter! And they have different features and it's not rocket science if your gears or chain get messed up. DH was a big biking guy when he was in college -- thought nothing of doing a 100 mile ride -- and even retired his old racing bike that we've lugged around for 20 years when he saw how things have changed. Do shop around the biking stores because there seems to be a wide range of prices to go with those improvements. :moped:
As we ventured down Main Street with the Castle luring us even further into the park, we mount the sweeping ramps that lead to the entrance to Fantasyland.....beckoning us onward we find ourselve welcomed into Cinderella's Castle and are greeted by a hidden gem of the park....the beautiful mosaics in the passageway. The hidden gem that some people miss all together because they focus on the outside structure of the castle.
Many of us may be focused on the outside structure. Maybe others have been focused on that too. They and we forget about the inner person. Share a little about what makes you beautiful on the inside that maybe others don't see right away.
What is the hidden gem that makes you unique?
I am a caring and considerate person. I'm very friendly and can make people feel comfortable. :teeth:
Shawn, good luck with your move! :flower3: It will be so nice for you to be settled at last!
I officially made it to the single digits!!! 209.2!!! I was 265 this time last year so I am so excited!!
Yay you! :yay: That is fabulous!
Thanks for the recipe! Be sure and post it on our recipe thread, too, please.
I am a samer today. I've have some big fluctuations in my weight this week as I start back into my training and have been doing a better job of staying below my calories. My body is rewarding me by doing crazy things with the scale but soon it will be onward and downward! :hippie:
Have a great day all!
Thanks for the welcomes :) I'm looking foward to the journey.
QOTD: I am very compassionate and love to help others.
