10/1 QOTD: Do you plan to dress up for Halloween? If your fairy godmother showed up on the 31st and was prepared to transform you for the evening, what would your costume be?
I'm not planning on dressing up for Halloween. It's so cold handing out the candy as it is...my neighbors and I all stand together in front of one of the driveways, so I'm out in the open all night. I plan on being very covered. If my FG showed up, I'd like to think it was because I was going out for a change...so I'd want to be costumed as an Orion woman from Star Trek. I love the idea of being green, and as long as FG is around, I'm sure I'd have the body to pull it off! ;)

I am so hungry today! I did my 5 mi on the TM this AM, I think I'm going to go over a little on ww pts., but not if I count my exercise...

I doubt I'll dress up this year since I have to go to work at 7pm that night. We usually go camping for "Halloween Weekend" at a Jellystone campground which is really held earlier in Oct. before it gets too cold, but we can't go this year. In the past I have dressed up as a witch (in my mom's old black evening gown), a NKOTB fan (in my old painted up jeans from going to concerts when I was 12), and as a baby (in my blanket sleeper). If my fairy godmother showed up to transform me, I'd like to be Jasmine with a totally flat stomach!

I spent 2 hours grocery shopping at Walmart today. I made a menu for the month so we will behave ourselves and eat at home. It's always easier if there's a plan in place and the food is on hand. My brother is planning on moving home from Viet Nam in the next couple weeks, so I did tell him we'd spring for his favorite pizza on his first night home, but other than that he's stuck with what's on our menu! He lived with us for about 5 mos. before he left, and will be moving back in with us. He's been gone for 18 mos, so he's probably dying to visit every fast food joint in town!

BTW, if anybody knows of a decent job for someone with a law degree who didn't pass the bar exam and can't drive due to visual impairment, let me know! He's been teaching Engish overseas because he couldn't find a job here.

Do you like juice? V8 Fusion juice is pretty tasty and you can get a fruit and veggie serving in with that. I know it's not as good as the real thing but it works in a pinch.
I do think there is a transition period while our bodies adjust to the seasons. I hope my transition time passes quickly!
Yeah I've been drinking the small v-8's that are just veggie because they had the coupon at Costco and I can't blame it on the sodium because we got the low sodium. I only drink those on days I work and have a lunch though. Veggies are hard on me-- it is my last frontier. As a kid I wouldn't eat any except for corn and peas. Now I will eat most everything but am only just now starting to really enjoy. I just don't think to include them, not in the habit.

Hi everyone, Happy October!!!
I'm happy (well not super happy) to report that my dog woke me up by barking at our decorated Scarecrow on the front porch. I seriously though someone was trying to break into my house the way she was barking, then saw the wind blowing the scarecrow all around..laughed so hard
LOL! What kind of dog is she?

10/1 QOTD: Do you plan to dress up for Halloween? If your fairy godmother showed up on the 31st and was prepared to transform you for the evening, what would your costume be?

Well I had a gorgeous red dress I bought from Joannes that was too big at my highest weight so I'm sure it's out although I did save it --shoot. There is one I bought years ago that was supposed to be a one size fits all dealie and I've never been able to fit it so maybe I'll try it on today-see if it's doable this year. Good question. Great motivation. I'm just going to be home answering the door as usual but why let the kiddies have all the fun?
Fairy Godmother shows up though-- I'd totally want to do Giselle from Enchanted, the hair, poofy ridiculous dress and slightly bedraggled ;-) princess:
Woke up today 5 till 10, too late for the view- I know it's silly but that meant I don't exercise today. Will walk tonight with the kid though after work. Need to save energy for the afternoon battle with Mr. matty.
I made a big spinache and sundried tomato omelet/scrambled egg thingy though while watching the view from the kitchen. Acidentally shredded too much smoked gouda lol but it was real good...:rolleyes1

9/30 QOTD: Do you ever have those days when all you want to do is EAT? (that was a rhetorical question - you don't have to answer it) What do you suggest someone having a "munchy" day should do to get through it without eating off their plan?

I sit down with an indulgent coffee, say chocolate raspberry truffle. I drink it black so I really get the flavor. Doesn't always distract me for the whole day, but it buys me a few hours before I have to distract myself again!

Today with the rescue remedy, some classical music and a feliway plug in I was able to make a good dent without stressing him too much. I decided to brush him as I go along as he loves it so much. Whew. When he is done- he is getting brushed every day. I think I instilled enough fear in husband as I absolutely went rabid when I found out he hadn't been brushing him....

Feel ya there. We have 2 long haired feline demons here that I have to keep up with the brushing. In fact the female has a mat near her armpit that I am going to have to trim this weekend. That is always an experience!

10/1 QOTD: Do you plan to dress up for Halloween? If your fairy godmother showed up on the 31st and was prepared to transform you for the evening, what would your costume be?

My husband is a bah-humbug type guy, so I haven't really dressed in the last decade since he doesn't. This year though, we are having friends over for the weekend and they want to coordinate costumes, so he will have to dress! We are still working on the theme though. As for my dream costume, I would have to say Jasmine. Next year I plan on having the abs to go with it!

I don't generally dress up for Halloween. Not sure what I would want to be if I did...

This is going to be a short post. I have to be back at school right after dinner. I will be posting the COW next so that is done before I leave.

10/1 QOTD: Do you plan to dress up for Halloween? If your fairy godmother showed up on the 31st and was prepared to transform you for the evening, what would your costume be?

I haven't dressed up for Halloween in a few years. At my high school they stopped the kids from wearing costumes quite a few years ago. Now we just found out that the seniors get to dress this year. It couldn't have come at a worse time. The last day of OCt is the last day before we are off for a week and I know I am planning a test before we leave for a week. ANd I teach a number of seniors.

As for dressing up I leave that for my dh. It is his birthday and he teaches in the middle school and he usually dresses. How many people have had to buy their husband panty hose? He needed them the year he went as a field hockey player.

FG would transport me to Belle in her yellow dress. That is who I would want to be.

QOTD 10/1

I have been Professor McGonagle and a medical person the past several years. I still have my old Tigger costume that I would love to wear again. If I could be anything I would be a pirate!

Had a good day food wise. I'm really getting into this stir fry veggie thing. Fire and Ice inspired me last weekend. I've had stir fry 3 times in 2 days with mostly veggies in it. I need to go work out again after running to CVS for meds for DD.

Hope to have a good weigh in in the morning! Good luck everyone!

10/1 QOTD: Do you plan to dress up for Halloween? If your fairy godmother showed up on the 31st and was prepared to transform you for the evening, what would your costume be?

I haven't dressed up in years  If the FG came to see me, I think I would want to dress up as Jasmine, but I would want her figure too! I think she is so pretty!

Yay, I'm a superstar!

I weighed in tonight and I am down another 1.2! I'm excited, I don't normally lose that much in a week, and so far it's been two good weeks.

Things continue to be crazy. Something is going around the teachers, and I caught it. May or may not be strep throat. (Doc told me it was too early to tell but gave me some antibiotics just in case.) Yesterday I laid down to take a nap at 3, and didn't wake up until 5 am this morning! It felt good though. I've been so wiped lately, I needed it.

I thought my class would be nice since two students are gone at a camp filedtrip all day, but my one problem case refused to do anything and ended up choking me! He didn't mean to, but when he's mad he'll grip me and really dig in like he's trying to scratch me, and this time it happened to be my neck. I'm hoping for a quiet day tomorrow. I'm happy that I at least have this weekend off. Tomorrow night my father and I are going to Haunt, and then Saturday we are going to Ren Fest. I refuse to be sick!

10/1 QOTD: Do you plan to dress up for Halloween? If your fairy godmother showed up on the 31st and was prepared to transform you for the evening, what would your costume be?

I would be Ariel. I love her. But I want to be skinny so I can wear the tiny top. Can my FG make me skinny too? I don't plan to dress up this year.

You took away my easiest COW. I don't suppose COWs are supposed to be wasy though. I actually got my veggies in today! Go me. And yesterday as a matter of fact. The exercise one should be great. Thanks for doing that!

Yay, I'm so excited, no water for next week's COW! I just can't handle that much water, and that's been my excuse for not doing very well on the COWs, but this week I'm going to try really hard to do every challenge every day!

I'm getting a pedicure right now as a pre-reward for my 10% award I expect to get at WW in the morning. I sure hope the scale cooperates with that plan!

10/1 QOTD: Do you plan to dress up for Halloween? If your fairy godmother showed up on the 31st and was prepared to transform you for the evening, what would your costume be?

I do not plan to dress up but will be dressing up the kids and going to a local community carnival that focus on fun and non candy prizes for the games. My ds is going to be buzz lightyear and dd is going to be Alice though her outfit is WAY too big! If I could be anyone for Halloween...my first though is the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella, but I am shooting big this year and would love to be Cinderella because I love the dress she wears to the ball!

Can someone tell me which page has the clippie on it? Thanks.

Sarah

Tough day today -- my Dad had surgery to remove a tumor from his colon. But, he came through it very well considering he's still recovering from the stroke he had in early August (that's also when they discovered his tumor - so I guess the stroke was almost a blessing in disguise - because the man never went to the doctor unless he was really sick). Phew - that's done and baring no complications, he should be released from the hospital on Sunday:woohoo:. His prognosis looks pretty good - but we'll know more when his pathology report comes back next week. So, I didn't get a chance to get to the gym - but I did walk a mile this morning (WATP) before heading over to the hospital to sit with my Mom while Dad was in surgery.

10/1 QOTD: Do you plan to dress up for Halloween? If your fairy godmother showed up on the 31st and was prepared to transform you for the evening, what would your costume be?

Well, I haven't dressed up in about 15 years -- but this year we're having a neighborhood "round robin" type Halloween party. Several houses are hosting and we will wind our way from house to house throughout the night - each house serving a different adult beverage and Halloween themed appetizer. Costumes were highly recommended. So, after going to Halloween Express last night - originally just to get costumes for the kids - DH and I came out of there with pirate costumes of our own! I will be a pirate wench this year - here's a pic: (if only I looked that good in the costume - maybe next year :)) Or, better yet - I'll have to purchase a different costume (maybe one of those really cute hippie chick mini dresses:hippie: or maybe a princess princess: - ahh :cloud9:) because this costume will be many sizes too large for me :thumbsup2

We like to go as a pirate family every year! My mom made costumes for a surprise MNSSHP trip in 2007. Pirate wench is my game (you know like the red dress lady- Scarlett)... some years I lose weight and DH says the cleavage isn't as good, but I can't keep the extra weight for that one night!:rotfl: Am I am sooo not joking...

I'd like to dress up for Halloween but we are stumped for Disney ideas. It's me, DW and DD3. We can't think of a Disney trio where the little one isn't a boy.

Our obvious choice is to have DD be Tinkerbell and my wife Wendy, but there is no way you're getting my fat, hairy body into Peter Pan tights. :scared1:

I had a great week with eating and working out. I just started journaling my calories consumed and burned and it's really helping to keep me honest.

I'm going to take a rest day tomorrow as I've been doing an hour of high-intensity cardio every day. I'm resting up for a 5K on Saturday. It will be my first race since reinjuring my knee in August. I plan to take it easy and take plenty of walk breaks but it will just feel good getting out there again.

Keep it up everyone!

I'll probably dress up again this year. I think its fun. Last year while DH was out with the kids, I put on my Lady (Lord & Lady type, not Lady & Tramp!) and surprised the kids by being in costume when they came back. It was fun, and our oldest DD & I went back out so she could do more trick or treating.
Here's a picture of one of my favourite Halloween's when we were at WDW in 2006.

Usually I make the kids costumes, and those Canadian royalty ones I made. The kids actually is based on Disney princess pattern, with Snow White style sleeves and Cinderella style skirts.
Here's one of us as pirates. Our headscarves are canadian maple leaf pattern

I like sewing costumes outfits, so I'd want fairy godmother to use her power to do all the housework, get all the supplies I'd need and give me an extra couple days to make the costumes myself:thumbsup2 that way I get the enjoyment. And I would make the whole family gypsies!

btw a big part of why I started sewing for the kids, is that the store bought ones are not designed for the cold weather. Some years we have snow on the ground for Halloween, so kids have to be able to wear a winter coat or a couple sweaters under their costumes. This year one is a fairy, but she'll have long sleeves and pants with a skirt on top!

Eeyore's Butterfly - hope you feel better soon

NCTink - hope your dad recuperates quickly

pjlla - I hope you find the fun in dressing up! I made a stew in the crockpot the other day, and its a hit with the kids (last year they didn't like it). I made a low-point vegetable beef stew. Just a bit of beef, beef broth, some potatoes, carrots, green beans, wax beans, peas and corn. I think it came out to 4 points a bowl.

shewelch - great family picture!

what about going as Wendy's brother John? it would be fairly easy costume, and you could still have you're DD as a cute Tinkerbell.
