I haven't tried it yet, but...those raspberries drizzled w/dark chocolate on BL looks delish!

A fresh tropical fruit cup! I enjoy papaya and mango, but I typically wouldn't prepare them. Now I have an idea!

I was telling dh I'm thinking about increasing my workouts to more than 1 a day, and he frankly told me the workouts aren't the problem. He's right, I just eat way too much. I'm running almost 5 miles 4 days a week, and I've been gaining and losing the same 3 lbs for the past 3 weeks. And trust me, I'm nowhere near a healthy weight, so that's not the problem. I just need to convince myself that a bag of microwave popcorn is not a serving :sad2:

Thursdays QOTD:

I'm a Skinny Cow Lover! Or sometimes an apple or yogurt! We're not big dessert people in our house so it's hard.

Did the 2 mile WATP and then walked 5.5 miles with my mom. Just did some regular Wii to show my parents the Sports Resort we got last month. Probably do some Wii Step later this afternoon. I was baout the same this morning after all that work yesterday but I'm not discouraged and that's the important thing to remember!!

Non-fat frozen yogurt...really need to watch the serving size though!

okay 50sjayne - how about a different perspective? Isn't it amazing how little food we need to fuel our bodies???:thumbsup2 It amazes me - I would eat SO much more than I needed. We really don't need that much do we? Also - I know what you mean about finishing the HPs - it's like saying goodbye to a friend. I'm about 3/4 through the Dan Brown and it's very very good - he'll take your mind off Harry. ;)

Thanks, that's exactly what I needed. Something I also found after losing 25 #'s in the winter challenge is how freeing it was to NOT be eating that much...hmm hard to explain. Food was ruling my life really and I didn't even realize it. I would wake up and be so happy I could eat breakfast, it was all about food. I'm really picky too, I just don't eat anything so a lot of effort really and thought. I felt like a fever had broke with the difference in the amount of eating.
Today I am going to exercise and I took a green tea capsule before breakfast hoping it will help take the edge off and maybe give me a little more energy as well. Yeah my Mom said the new Dan Brown was good ;-)

Right now its realfruit frozen bars by Breyers they are 45 calories each.

I have done this in the past and I am going to start this again. I freeze fresh blueberries and then I take out a small amount from the freezer, I put them in a fancy glass bowl. I enjoy eating them while they are still partially frozen. They are crunchy, sweet and I enjoy them as much as I enjoy ice cream but of course they are much healthier for me.

I can't think of any healthy desert that I eat. Best I can say is I'll have a piece of candy-like a roll of sweeties or a halloween sized m&m, something like that and I'm happy. I guess the blackberry cobbler I made over the summer was pretty healthy and really really good.

jenjolt!!! Congratulations on entering Onderland :yay: you have a great plan mapped out. i wish i would've commited to a simple-30 min workout each (or most) mornings our past trip. My girls were like "nooo....you don't need to workout on vacation" and I caved. told myself I'd be doing lots of walking and when we went to pool I'd actually get in and swim around. Well I did stick to that and still gained 6-7 lbs! I wonder if I had worked out if the benefit of revving my metabolism first thing in the day could've have made a difference?

just wanted to give myself kudos publicly....i did my workout after all :thumbsup2

QOTD -- i'm such a huge sweet tooth, and not denying it plays big part in my success. I like chocolate vitatops (2 pts)

Congrats!!!! on working out today!!!! It is such an accomplishment when you can say I did my workout!! YAY!!!:cool1:

Thursday's QOTD:

What is your favorite healthy dessert:

I'm not a big dessert/sweets fan so I'm not much help. So, I guess having no dessert would be the healthiest. Is a dolewhip from the MK healthy??

From yesterday ... the only diet type book I ever read (a long time ago) was Eat to Win. Published in 1983/84 by Dr. Robrt Hass.I'll have to pull it out (the book) b/c I remember there was good alternative eating advice.

I love the dolewhip, and it is relatively low in calories, BUT I'm not sure I'd go so far as to call it healthy. It is not a very natural food and the main ingredient is sugar. However, 80 calories per half cup - you could do worse, calorie-wise. Here's the link to the manufacturer's website.

My favorite is the Tofu Chocolate Mousse from the Eat-Clean Diet Cookbook:

What is your favorite healthy dessert:

organic 88% dark chocolate and organic peanut butter or almond butter - my version of a PB cup!

I was completely on track yesterday! It's about time and it feels good.

Right now I'm working on a plan to stay on track at the Nascar race this weekend in Dover. We usually grill (tailgate) for lunch and dinner. DH has already said he is bringing Bratwurst. I can either eat those and fit them into my calorie allowance for the day or bring other healthier alternatives for me and hopefully not feel like I'm missing out.

Anyone have any ideas of what I could make or bring?

What about veggies that you can grill, like zucchini, squash and onions? Maybe a chicken breast? Baked potato or sweet potato?

Thursday's QOTD:

What is your favorite healthy dessert:

Well... my "regular" quick and easy and always handy dessert is a Skinny Cow chocolate cone. Three points and easily as good as a regular ice cream cone, plus built in portion control, which is SO helpful. No terribly HEALTHY I suppose, but better than a big dish of regular ice cream.

I also really like the pineapple angel food cake that is popular with WW. It is delicious with a dollop of fat free Cool Whip (a bad fake food that I just love!).

A WW leader I had in the past had told us about making a sundae with a WW Smart Ones ice cream sandwich (or even a Skinny Cow sandwich I suppose). Split the sandwich in half horizontally through the ice cream (so you have an open faced sandwich).... top it with smashed strawberries and top with a bit of FF Coolwhip... instant ice cream sundae. I've tried it and it is delicious. Again, not as healthy as maybe fruit or something homemade, but it definitely hits the spot.

I make an excellent apple crisp that my family loves. I find that if I eat more of the "apple" and less of the "crisp" it is still delicious and far less fattening, I'm sure. Plus I cut down on the sugar in the apples when I make it because it was just too sweet for everyone.

On another topic, I was checking my exercise minutes for the month of September and I am way behind... with school starting up and all, I really haven't been working out hard enough or long enough. I have been taking the weekends off, but I guess that will have to stop. I need to really push it to get in a full 45-60 minutes, instead of the 30-45 I've been doing. I walk when I can get a few minutes in here and there during the day at work and I walk whenever I can when the kids are at their respective activities (all of this in addition to my early morning 20-30 minute workout) but it just hasn't been enough. I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and stop hitting the snooze alarm so many times in the morning to get in a full 45 EVERY weekday morning. Don't really need any advise... just venting I guess.

I have DD's high school open house tonight. Hopefully that won't run too late and I'll be able to get in a "last chance" workout tonight before bed. Even though I've eaten well this week, I'm not feeling it around the middle and I'm not sure that the scales will show it.

I'll try to get on to talk to you all tonight, but I might not make it. If I don't, every one have "slimmer" dreams tonight. I want to see at least 90% of us weighing in this week... make it count!.......................P

About me:
Hi all! I'm back to give a proper intro.
I am so happy to have found this group. I need all the support and encouragement I can get.
My name is Taryn, 33, I live in PA with my wonderful dh and 2 little girls (almost 4 and 2). I am a "retired" special education teacher since I've had my kids. I own and operate a scrapbook retreat house in Berks County.
About my weight/health:
I was in great shape until about my sophomore year in college, and then very slowly the pounds started to add on. I hovered around 170 for awhile, even after college. In 2005 I got pregnant and was put on strict bedrest for 3 months. My muscles were really weakened and I gained more weight! I never really lost most of that baby weight before I got pregnant again. Yikes! I am currently at my heaviest weight EVER, and I am not happy about it. Last year I joined the gym, got a trainer, and made time for me. I think my main problem lies in FOOD! I LOVE TO EAT. Besides that, I am home all day with my little ones which I also think contributes to my overeating.
Sooooooo, my goals for now are to lose 50 pounds, exercise 4-5 days a week for a minimum of 1 hour, and write down everything I eat! I've done Weight Watchers in the past and it worked well, so I've started that again this week.

Question...do we ever post pictures of ourselves? So we can see what everyone looks like before/during/after our weight loss?

What about veggies that you can grill, like zucchini, squash and onions? Maybe a chicken breast? Baked potato or sweet potato?

Oh, you've got me thinking - those are some great ideas! My current favorite cookout food is the Morningstar Farms Tomato & Basil Pizza Burgers. Sooo delicious!

I like the Breyer's 100cal ice cream, chocolate brownie one. And the skinny cow chocolate ice cream sandwiches.

For tailgating, what about the pineapple skewers on the grill? Or chicken-veggie skewers.

Taryn - not many have posted pictures in the recent challenges. Corinna did post some then and now pictures of herself doing the running, and it was very cool to see the changes in her. If you'd like to share pictures, you welcome to.

WELCOME WELCOME!!! Good luck on your journey to a healthier you!!!!

As far as your question on my TR on this upcoming trip I'm about to take I'm going to be posting a picture of me in January and one of me in September in the same pose...I'm excited to compare!!

Hi Everyone,

I haven't been posting much this week because I fell behind in reading and wanted to get caught up first. I'm finally caught up so I figured I'd better post quickly, because this thread moves fast.

I was very excited to see a good loss in last week's weigh in, then I proceeded to eat horribly for 3 days. I got back to it on Monday and have been counting pts all week. I'm looking forward to getting on the scale tomorrow, but don't expect as big a loss in week 2. Congrats to SheWelsh for being the top loser this week.

QOTD: I have a tough time with desserts because for me fruit isn't a big enough treat. I'm trying to eliminate most chemicals from my diet, so anything sweetened with Splenda or Nutrisweet is out. Lately any time I try just a small portion of dessert I go back for 2nds or 3rds. Until I get my cravings tamed a bit I'm just avoiding dessert altogether. Let's keep in mind we're talking the past 3 1/2 days so far, and hopefully into the future for a while.

I have lots of Diet and Eating books. I do like The Beck Diet Solution and Tosca Reno's Clean Eating (Corrina, I think I need to find that dessert recipe.) and Master your Metabolism by Jillian Michael's. I'm going to add a few to my "to read" list after reading all your suggestions.

Tailgating ideas: Chicken Sausage there are some very flavorful ones like tomato and basil or apple with maple. Over the summer we would make aluminum foil packets of slices of zukes, yellow squash, onions and sweet potatoes (microwave the sweet potatoes for 5 minutes first) drizzled with a little olive oil and sprinkled with dry basil. You can just throw the how bundle on the grill until the veggies are to your liking.

Have a great day everyone. Good luck on the scale tomorrow.
Cindy

I dont ever eat dessert. Too much sugar-way to sweet for me. I'm far more likely to have a second dinner portion while big sister eats a dessert. Since she weighs about 50lbs less than I do at the same height maybe I should eat dessert!:rotfl:

I'm so discouraged, I weighed myself at work just now and have gained back the (very) few lbs I lost last week. What's up with that?

Last night for the first time since we moved, I got back on the dreadmill.
I have been having a lot of back pain recently and walking is highly recommended by my doctor. I mean, I've been walking the dogs but not purposefully I guess.
I walked 1.0 mile in 21.09 minutes. That's pretty bad isn't it? At that speed it would take me 1 hour to do the Expedition Everst Challenge
(just the race part-another 2 hours to finish it):rotfl2:
