Biggest Loser 2009 - Couples 2

I guess I thought he was genuine in the beginning with his "looking out" speeches.

I am upset to learn that he was just lying. I fell for it. Normally I am very cynical and don't do that. He got me.

So it is just a refection on myself for being trusting. ;)

Oh I'm the same way. I thought he was for real at first and it stinks that at this point it looks like it wasn't. At the same time, I understand wanting to protect his son. He seems like a really loving father and I can't fault him for trying to help his son do well in the game.

Yea, I get protecting your son, but don't give me the "Dane can do better at home" speech.

I would have respected him if he said, I want to stay here with my son.

I agree because he could have done better at home than Dan could have a few weeks ago. It all depends on how you look at it.

Right.

At this point however Brown dad should be there if you are going by his own philosophy.

He is injured and cannot keep up with the BL.

He would much better at home with a better program geared toward his injury of his knee.

I mean having him do these challenges is not healthy for his knee.

At first I was impressed with Dane in doing the marathon - I noticed it showed him coming through the finish line at 5:53 (as you can see from my signature I just did a full 26 mile marathon and I did it in just under that time) but then I noticed that Biggest Loser put that he finished it in 3 hours 53 minutes :confused3 This is highly unlikely that he did it that quickly - that is like Boston Marathon good :worship: and unfortunately I don't think Dane is at that point. Doing further research it appears that someone who did the same marathon as Dane, she finished in 6 hours 14 minutes and said that Dane and his wife were behind her and got picked up and transported to the end of the race (meaning they did not maintain the set average pace therefore getting a DNF) She did say that he did at least 13 miles so he at least did a half marathon but most likely did not do the complete 26 miles. I applaud him for getting out there at the start line and getting done what he did but Biggest Loser should retract the time they stated for him doing 26 miles - less than 4 hours - talk about manipulating reality for TV :scared1:

Looks like several people noticed this!

Ok I just watched it the marathon 'package' again, just to see if there was any leeway, but clearly the show states he ran the whole entire marathon in 3.56

He himself said his dream is to run an entire marathon with his wife.

I hope the embarrassment doesn't set him back.

I accidently deleted the show on my DVR before I had a chance to watch the show.
They re-run the show on FLN on Saturdays so I watched it then. I think they edited the whole marathon time part out! At the end when they showed Dane, they showed him running along a highway with his wife during a marathon, but they didnt show him at the finish line or with what his time was.
Interesting.

I had to laugh at the whole Bob and Blue Team Tonga cousins scene.
When Bob tells them they have to "go on" and the one cousin says "How? Tell me how?" it was like something out of the movie Titanic!! :happytv:
Get a grip guys.

I read that over the weekend in the LA TIMES. I am really bothered by this news of Dane.

On Wednesday when BL was showing Dane at home and how AWESOME he has done and then the Marathon with his wife, I was incredibly IMPRESSED. I actually was like this  as the bottom of the tv scrolled his finish time and the fact he ran 26 miles. OMG, I looked at my family and we ALL thought that just is FABULOUS. :thumbsup2

DS' DF ran a Marathon last year in NJ. 26.5 miles. She is young, 24yo, and had prepared the better part of a solid year for the Marathon AND was already in awesome shape. DF completed this 26.5 Marathon and then announced to all of us....NEVER AGAIN. It was absolutely grueling. So like I said I was so IMPRESSED with Dane!!

AND then this revelation.

That is kind of disappointing.

A 100lb weight loss is enough all on it's own. They don't need to misrepresent his accomplishments for better tv.

Exactly--They could have let eveyone know that he had completed a half marathon, or 20 miles of a full marathon. Still damn impressive for him, considering where he was just a few months back.

Just makes you wonder what the producers have misrepresented in the past that they DIDN'T get caught doing.

Ditto.

BL knew what they were putting up on the screen. Thought they can slip it by the viewers...busted!

It reminds me of the thing they did with Joelle and Carla (the reunion at the food court). Totally inappropriate imo.

Dane and Jillian are both on the Today show.

Al kept asking... Who made the decision to do it that way

Jillian said it was a producer who made a poor decision.

Do what "that way"? I'm confused.

Show Dane "finishing" a marathon with an incredible low time. He was actually picked up and driven to the finish line and did NOT complete the marathon let alone complete it at such an amazing time.

It was shown last week on BL after Dane was eliminated - the follow-up at home segment.

Very poor taste if you ask me. The guy lost 100lbs faster than anyone else on the show - THAT is a huge accomplishment. Why not focus on THAT instead of "faking" the marathon?

Shooting it to look like he ran the whole thing in 3 hours 56 minutes (or whatever it was)

Jillian said, the producer wanted the money shot, Dane said it was mile 17 and he knew he wouldnt finish in time, so he went along with it, but insists he went back and did finish the race, they just had to film it ahead of time.

OK :). There were a couple of conversations going that the producers could have made a poor decision about I wasn't sure which one you were talking about!

This is my first season watching the show. How many weeks make up a season? Thanks!
