If And tonight I will get Subway for the kids and pack myself some food to eat while out running errands.
Ended up packing food for ALL of us, as I didn't feel like paying for Subway (although I might have a free sub coming on points.... not sure). It was certainly healthier and cheaper than a stop at Subway. I splurged and bought DS a small Frosty at Wendy's to reward his patience while I was running errands. And I told him that for once, he wouldn't have to give me a "small bite"!
I Pjlla: Oh, I hear ya on the sliced turkey. Not a fan here. One of the things I most looked forward to adding back after those 2 weeks, outside of another breakfast choice, was some strawberries and apples.
After these two weeks, assuming I've lost most of these last few pounds, I plan to go back to my normal eating.... maybe with a small reduction in carbs.... like maybe limit my bread type carbs (whole wheat Sandwich Thins, high fiber english muffins, high fiber wraps) to just once a day..... but fruit is coming back full force!! Mmmmm.... apples!
I seriously cannot keep up with this thread.
Don't worry about keeping up. Just pop on when you can, read the last page or last two pages, chit chat if you have time, and that's enough!!
Thanks Rose and P!
Well, my weigh-in at WW wasn't pretty. I bought myself a new 3-month journal and am starting fresh. I got in a short workout tonight and am aiming for 6 a week. Thursdays will likely be my rest day. I really need to make exercise a routine, so I'm taking the shorter times over more days approach. I can do 30 minutes on the recumbent bike, but will need to work my way up to that on the treadmill and elliptical. I also need to add in some strength training. I have to use the Wii Fit more often too. And, most importantly, I have to stay within my points.
It's obvious I know what to do. I just need to do it. I'm ready to do it and I WILL DO IT!
Have a great day everyone!
Pamper Week, Thursday:
1. Smile at 5 people in passing.
2. Have a healthy dessert or snack.
Yup.... you KNOW what to do.... now to find the motivation to keep at it!! That fresh new 3 month journal should help!! Do you have a bike, TM, and elliptical all at home??? Lucky you if you do!!
Okay.... I'm not a big smiler (too shy), but I did smile a lot this morning! Healthy snacks..... always. Today's will be an exciting 4 cashews (yup.... you read that right... just 4 for 1 point!

) with a cup of green tea this afternoon. Cashews are already measured out and in my lunch bag, so no temptation to overindulge!
I don't have time. Really, I do have to sleep sometime and that is all I can give up at this point.
I did smile at at least 5 people today and I had a healthy snack, but those are the pampering for tomorrow
I know the feeling. When people talk to DD about doing something else (like get a job or take Driver's Ed or doing some volunteer work), we always talk about how the only time left in her schedule is potty time and sleep time!!
Keeping up with a healthy number of hours of sleep is CRUCIAL to your overall health! Don't sell it short. I think that you are FAR better off getting a full 7-8 hours of regular sleep every night than trying to rise early or go to bed late to get in 30 minutes of exercise. Work in that exercise whenever you can with daily activities..... jog up the stairs when carrying the laundry, power walk across the parking lot at the grocery store, take the regular stairs instead of the elevator or escalator (or powerwalk the escalator). Bring your sneakers to work and power walk just 10 minutes during your lunch time.... things like that really add up!! I know I'm singing to the choir here.... you know all this!
Good luck today! I'll be thinking of you and praying for you!
Hi, everyone!
CC- I am glad you have a plan. I know you can do this. I think the three month journal is a great idea. I bought one too and it will take me right up to our trip. Can you imagine how accomplished we will feel at the end of every day that we journal? We should challenge each other to daily journaling.
I was really looking forward to my WW weigh-in tomorrow but I ate too much sodium in a late dinner tonight so now I'm worried. I had a delicious dessert tonight- an apple steamed in the microwave with Taryn's delicious Pampered Chef sweet cinnamon. Yum! Then I did 2 mile WATP. Off to bed now.
You should be fine! The apple sounds delicious! I love that you are challenging CC to journal every day with you! It is so nice when someone else is counting on you to keep up with a program!
I find that I do better when I have the ability to plan ahead and track as I go..
today I did OK
I nanny 2 16hours a week, and then am working towards my masters the other days
the 2 youngest of the 3 were both sick with fevers and a slight stomach bug so that meant that a) I could not use the treadmill while the 2year old napped as he literally had to be held for hours at a time and b) when the 10yr old got home and wanted me to make peanut butter brownies i relented and then proceeded to eat 2 servings of them!!
so all told i was about 300calories over maximum goal for weight loss, but still in the weight loss "zone"
hoping tomorrow is better!!!
Hey.... the kid was demanding pb brownies.... nothing you could do but make them and share them, right??
.
pjlla isn't it amazing how when dh is out we change dinner plans so easily. My dh doesn't like mac and cheese so when he would be out that is what we would have for dinner.
Well.... especially since DS is allergic to chicken, so I would have been making it for just DD and myself.... so no point in it really. Plus tonight's dinner had originally been a recipe with carbs, so I was going to have fish. It was just as easy to reschedule last night's to tonight and bump tonight's off totally.
And since I was able to "wing it" for dinner, that meant I was able to find the time to take DD to the Y for an extra workout that she was wanting. Win-win situation.
I'm anxious to see what happens with your weigh in. I thought about trying SB again last year, but realized that since I don't do meat that it would be a lot harder. I think it does a fabulous job getting you to focus on your food and really kick starts weight loss, so hopefully you will be able to kick those last couple pounds to the curb.
I hope that these pounds really disappear. If they don't, I think I absolutely MUST consider changing my goal to a solid 133 pounds and just leave it at that. I don't know what else I could possibly do. I'm not willing to do anything drastic because the weight would probably just come right back on if I lost any.
It is harder on SB than I thought because I really don't care much for meat. I am kind of "choking" down the lunch meat. Last night's smoked ham seemed SO salty to me. There really isn't much pleasure in eating this way. But I can handle it short term.
I am happy to report that I ran/walked ~1.75 miles yesterday with a 2/.30 interval.

We walked before and after and went a total of 3.6. My knee was pretty sore at the end, but I came home and iced and iced and iced and it's feeling good today.

I am going to run again on Saturday. To me the most positive sign is that it feels good today. I might have to break down and have him treat the plantar-fasciitis as well. I'll give it a few more runs with the new shoes. It did not hurt during the run, but my foot is a little sore this morning.
Today is opening day for Milb--we have season tickets! So exciting! Did I tell you all that they are supposed to have g-f beer? I am really happy about that.

We are really going to have to plan to eat at home this year because there is almost nothing I can eat at the stadium--peanuts and softserve and chips are the only things I can think of. Sometimes they have roasted corn. Not a great selection. The good news is we should save a ton of money this year!
Have a great day everyone!
Glad to hear that the knee seems to be improving!! You are on the upward track back to your regular running now!
I think that the ballfield should allow you to carry in your own g-f foods if they can't provide them!! Then you could bring in your own snacks and enjoy their g-f beer and Mike could eat what he wants.
Morning all,
Got up and did the 3 mile Pilates walk! Feeling great this morning!!!
Pilates walk?? Sounds interesting. Do tell!
dinner was pjilla's roasted chicken in the crockpot. it came out pretty good except the breasts were very dry. so i served it more like a stew with all the liquid and that was good. pretty healthy i think too!
Next time try cooking it breast-side down. That might improve the breast meat.
Sorry about the "help".... sometimes NO help is better. But I think she probably meant it in the best way. Find her a job to do!
Good morning everyone.
Not much going on here, but it's been another morning where I can't wait for the bus to come.

I'm trying to figure out if it's him or me, or a combination of both. Just fresh, and talking back, and sarcastic. Ds, not me.

Yesterday when he came home he was whining and crying because he couldn't watch tv as his punishment, and it was so exhausting. Luckily he had gymnastics, and after that was pretty good. This parenting thing, ain't easy some days. Tonight we have scouts, so luckily we won't be home for too long to hear about the no tv.
Wish I had words of advise. Sometimes they don't even know themselves what is bothering them at that age!
You'll get through it.... both of you.
I definitely need to commit to journalling my food again. I'm holding my own this week on the scale, but am definitely eating more than I should.
I'm up for a journalling challenge if anyone else is interested. I am going to start today, and journal every day til Easter sunday. That's just over 2 weeks. I can do that.
Yes you can! I will join in with all of you to committ to journal every morsel, every crumb, every lick, every bite!!!
Pamela- Thanks for all your kind words yesterday. I don't know what I would do without the support I get here. Well, I guess I can imagine and it wouldn't be pretty. I agree, this is like the time I would spend at ww, and this is my support group, and i do deserve to come on here and spend some me time. Sounds like you're doing great with the south beach. Do you sneak a peak at the scale, or will you weighin tomorrow? Be patient too, if you don't see a change on the scale, new changes take time to work.
Haven't taken a peek yet. I try really hard to just weigh in once a week. Too many head games otherwise. Fingers crossed for tomorrow though.
Maria/Worfiedoodles- I miss you. Hope you can pop on in here and say hello soon.

I got to get back to the princess thread, too, but time just gets away from me.
I have PM'ed her a few times recently and she seems to be doing okay after losing her "healthy lifestyle" mojo for a while. Hope she pops on here again soon!
So the
QOTD Thursday 4/7/11 is Do you measure progress without the scale and what do you use? You can use the answers provided or use your own.
I measure progress without the scale by...
-- How my clothes fit
-- Using other numbers (body fat, BP, etc.)
-- Monitoring my energy levels
-- Assessing my emotions and self-esteem
-- None of these- I only use the scale.
-- All of the above.
BRB with replies.
Honestly... the number on the scale is it. Maybe how my clothes are fitting occasionally.
I TRULY wish I had had the nerve to take measurements and maybe better pictures when I started this journey. It would be so neat to have something concrete in addition to the scale, to measure my progress.
***********Happy Thursday morning friends! Sunny and chilly here, but not unbearably cold.
It was SO hard to get up this morning. I gave myself 101 excuses to just lay there..... but the other part of my brain kept telling me that 45 more minutes of sleep wasn't going to make any big difference in how I felt today and that I needed to MOVE IT! Glad I did, but it was tougher than usual.
I'm about as tired of veggie egg white omelets as I could be! Today's was broccoli slaw and sundried tomato with a bit of light swiss. And of course, I couldn't even TRY to enjoy it cause I was running late, so I had to gobble it up. Morning got away from me, as usual!
Never made it to my scrapbook table yesterday, but tackled a few jobs that have been hanging over my head like the mess on the top of my dresser and the junk drawer. And they were both full/covered with clutter because people have been too lazy to put stuff where it belongs! No lie, the junk drawer probably had 25 pencils and 25 markers.... when we have a LABELED, DEDICATED container for each of these items in the kitchen closet!!

That's not to mention the handful of Legos, and (no kidding) at least 15 pairs of kids scissors! I didn't realized we owned that many!
And the top of my dresser..... mostly other people's (kids) CRAP!! But it's clean now!
I'm at work today, so I probably won't get back on here, since I will be outside for recess duty

and then I will be super busy all evening playing crazy kid taxi! DD has swim and DS has dress rehearsal for the play.... I will probably be driving pretty much straight through from 3:00 until at least 7 pm..... back and forth! I might be able to hop on after that, but no promises.
I hope everyone has a super day! ...............................P
