Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

Morning all,

Got up and did the 3 mile Pilates walk! Feeling great this morning!!!

Working this morning. Hoping to leave early since I have to go back this evening. I will have to see how busy we are. Hoping I can get my nails done sometime today as well.

Hoping to get in another workout this afternoon before the kids gets home at 3:30. I will do my big meal at lunch today and have a shake before I go to work though I could also just eat when I get home.

Going to take the girls shopping next Wednesday for Easter dresses and shoes and to see the Easter Bunny. I just realized that's probably the only time I will have before Easter.

Hoping to maybe take the kids to see Hop on Saturday afternoon/evening. Still don't know if the soccer fields will be open for Saturday or not.

Ash is reading Kingdom Keepers while eating her breakfast. I GET THE BOOK TODAY! I just hope I can find time to read it! We're going to read it together this weekend so we just picked to stop at 159 by tomorrow night!

Well, need to get the kids moving so I can get my day going! Just made my tea and drinking my water!

TTFN :tigger:

Pamper Week, Thursday:
1. Smile at 5 people in passing.
2. Have a healthy dessert or snack.

um, i live in the bronx. we do NOT do #1. :rotfl::laughing: just kidding!

good morning everyone! i hope you all have a great day. shocker of all shockers, it's nasty out today and is supposed to be like this thru the weekend. apparently next week is looking pretty decent. we shall see.

i didn't eat all that well yesterday. i was feeling sorry for myself for my stomach issues so i had a salami and fresh mozzarella sandwich on a roll for lunch from the deli. it was heavenly. sure, i felt crappy later but man it was so good. and i had a bag of baked lays. haven't eaten those in YEARS! delish!

dinner was pjilla's roasted chicken in the crockpot. it came out pretty good except the breasts were very dry. so i served it more like a stew with all the liquid and that was good. pretty healthy i think too!

my friend came over yesterday to help me since i wasn't feeling good i honestly it was more tiring than helpful. she slept over too and is still in bed. she was up past 1am last night. my house is VERY small and you can hear everything. she was microwaving food after midnight and i guess couldn't figure out how to use it b/c she kept pressing the buttons and opening and closing the microwave door! she KNOWS that i don't sleep well so i was kind of annoyed she didn't just go to bed earlier. oh well. next time she wants to help i may just actually give her something to do.

hanging out for a little then having breakfast and heading to the school for mommy and me class. the thursday class is the crazy one so i'm hopeful that there will be a nice long nap happening later on! i also want to try to get on the elliptical today too. haven't exercised in days.

Good morning everyone.

Not much going on here, but it's been another morning where I can't wait for the bus to come. :rotfl2: I'm trying to figure out if it's him or me, or a combination of both. Just fresh, and talking back, and sarcastic. Ds, not me.;) Yesterday when he came home he was whining and crying because he couldn't watch tv as his punishment, and it was so exhausting. Luckily he had gymnastics, and after that was pretty good. This parenting thing, ain't easy some days. Tonight we have scouts, so luckily we won't be home for too long to hear about the no tv.

I definitely need to commit to journalling my food again. I'm holding my own this week on the scale, but am definitely eating more than I should.

CC -the 3 month journal is a great idea, and I know that you can do it too.

I'm up for a journalling challenge if anyone else is interested. I am going to start today, and journal every day til Easter sunday. That's just over 2 weeks. I can do that.

Rose- I'm so happy that you were able to get out and run yesterday!! You have seen a lot of improvement in a short time. So glad you found this chiropractor. Enjoy the game today! So happy they will have the gf beer for you, but if not, good luck smuggling some in. ;)

Lisa,- thanks so much for the support, and for coaching this week. You are the best.

Lindsay- Happy birthday to Nick! Sounds like you have a full week planned. Is it just you and nick that go out to lunch? That is so nice for him to have some time with mom without big brother. Enjoy your week. Thanks for the support too, it's another day to start over again.:rotfl:

Pamela- Thanks for all your kind words yesterday. I don't know what I would do without the support I get here. Well, I guess I can imagine and it wouldn't be pretty. I agree, this is like the time I would spend at ww, and this is my support group, and i do deserve to come on here and spend some me time. Sounds like you're doing great with the south beach. Do you sneak a peak at the scale, or will you weighin tomorrow? Be patient too, if you don't see a change on the scale, new changes take time to work.

Liesel Hi Lisa, great to see you again. 30 pounds is great, and you can keep it off this time, and keep on going.:thumbsup2

Deb- Good luck with the new job today.:goodvibes

Maria/Worfiedoodles- I miss you. Hope you can pop on in here and say hello soon. I got to get back to the princess thread, too, but time just gets away from me.

Nancy- Hope you are feeling better soon, and glad that everything went well at the doctors monday. I think you should start a new trend of smiling at everyone you walk by now in the bronx. It's sure to catch on. ;)

Hello to everyone I've missed.

Get that water in, move those bodies. Make the right choices. Have a great day.

Good morning all! :goodvibes

Please be sure and PM your weigh in info to tigg813 tomorrow WITH YOUR TEAM NAME.

No HH to report -- thanks CC for the pampering week!

No WIN! to report unless you want to get started or need to fill in a blank. Thanks Connie96 for being our WIN! coach! Next WIN! reporting day is 4/22/11.

Never got on the computer last night so I will quickly do the QOTD and see how far I get in replies.

This QOTD was inspired by several of the comments yesterday about measurements.

Here is an excerpt from an article I found on sparkpeople ('cause you know I can always find an article there about something ;))

Measure Progress Without the Scale
An Arsenal of Tools for Your Motivation

Frustrated. Disappointed. Hopeless. Skeptical.

Whichever you choose, these emotions are enemies to all dieters--especially when you feel like you have done everything right. For many trying to shed pounds, the elation from that initial weight loss is brought to a screeching halt when the scale stops moving. But, instead of viewing this as a setback, look for other ways to measure your progress besides the scale. After all, good health isn't always measured in pounds.

4 Non-Scale Signs of Progress

1. See results by taking a trip to your very own closet.

2. Aside from weight, use other numerical signs of progress.

3. Monitor how a healthy diet and regular exercise affects your energy levels.

4. Lastly, be conscious of how you feel emotionally.

Here is the link to the entire article if you are interested http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motivation_articles.asp?id=487

So the QOTD Thursday 4/7/11 is Do you measure progress without the scale and what do you use? You can use the answers provided or use your own.

I measure progress without the scale by...

-- How my clothes fit
-- Using other numbers (body fat, BP, etc.)
-- Monitoring my energy levels
-- Assessing my emotions and self-esteem
-- None of these- I only use the scale.
-- All of the above.

BRB with replies. :flower3:

Thanks to those who suggested that I just skim through the posts to try to keep up. Still a bit overwhelming, but I think I can manage it. I had a rough weekend and gained back a pound I lost last week. But it is back off and then some after starting back on the South Beach Diet on Tuesday. DH is doing it too. That makes it much easier.

I found a great place for lunch. The grocery store! I never really paid attention to the food bars that Krogers and HyVee have until last week when I was picking up some things for work. There is a Kroger just a couple blocks from where I work. They have a sushi bar, a salad bar, and a specialty food bar. They have so much "great for you" food on these that I was truly amazed. And it is much cheaper than going out for lunch. You pick what you want and then pay per pound. I bought my own salad dressing and keep it at work. Now that it is warmer, I have been stopping and buying a salad, sushi, etc and then heading to some picnic tables outside our building. That and a great book during lunch are keeping me sane.

As if losing weight, planning a wedding, and opening a new location at work aren't enough...now DH is talking about selling the house and down sizing.

:scared1:Is he nuts!?!:scared1:

QOTD Weds 4/6/11 What exercise excuse do you use most often?
No time seems to be my number one excuse.

Hang in there Eva! Sounds like busy is an understatement for you right now! Thanks for the tip about the supermarket. I never think of going there :)

Yikes! Is Easter really that soon...time just moves so quickly! Congrats on the 3miles this morning...i think a nail appointment is in order too! Enjoy Kingdom Keepers...I'm thinking I may start the series after I finish my book club books.

Hello to everyone I've missed.

Get that water in, move those bodies. Make the right choices. Have a great day.

I wish I had the discipline to journal everyday! I usually begin well and then forget a snack...then a meal....then an entire day. I've gotten back on that food journal horse soooo many times. So, I am inspired to begin again!! Thanks for the support (and the challenge!)

****
Another rainy day in NJ...Blah! I'm dying to get outside and do some jogging but not in the rain....back to the gym this evening after PT. PT was a killer last night. Worked out with my trainer for a half hour and then spent an hour at PT, where he cranked my calf so hard it needed to be iced. Today it feels ok...little sore...but we'll see how it feels when I hit the gym later.

Lunch is going to be difficult today. It's Teacher Appreciation Day (or week or month...I can never remember) and the Parents Association is throwing us this fabulous lunch with amazing food (homemade apps and dessert with a catered main course). I'm going to try to stick to the vegetarian option that do not contain mayo but the desserts....:scared1:. Since my almond allergy usually comes into full swing during dessert (I have to be soooo careful) I can probably stick to fruit...but only if they have berries since I am allergic to melons  Wish me luck!

Heading to Philly tomorrow to visit little nephew Brady. I wrapped his Buzz Lightyear sneakers that light up, Perry stuffed animal, and Phineas and Ferb fruit snacks last night. I'm still thinking of picking up some crayola bath products since he used up all the bath crayons I got him for Christmas... I think Toysrus has them??

Since we are really slow today I have time to read my book for book club this Sunday and well as my other book club on the 20th... i love to read but this is getting ridiculous!

Happy Thursday!

-- All of the above.

I was just thinking this morning about my clothes. I was nervous to put on a specific top this morning because it ends up a bit short BUT I put it on and it fits soooo much better! Now I still have that skirt with the tags....maybe in another 2 weeks i can try that one...

I have not had a chance to stop in here all week. sorry for being MIA.

I posted a gain for last week (I think I was 222.4 if I'm not mistaken) well my body is making up for it I guess LOL.

Woke up this morning and I'm 220.2 I am almost out of the 220's YAAAAAAAY

that puts me at 29 lbs of weight loss total and 12 lbs since I started here

QOTD

I use the scale but other than the scale I also use my clothes to determine my body changes. I'm down 2 pant sizes and on my way down another one as I can pull these 18's off without undoing them

Like when I was still wearing my 22's I didn't really SEE the difference but then I slipped into a pair of 18 jeans and I could really see it :D

Happy Wednesday! The sun is out and my leg is feeling the best it has ever felt (since the surgery). I ended up going to spin class last night and really pushed myself. I burned 617 calories in 50 minutes!! AND my leg didn't need to be iced after! Although by butt is really paying the price for my added effort :headache: I was going to hop on the scale since I did so well for the past 2 days but I decided to hold off until Monday...hoping that would encourage me to make the entire week a good one!

Glad the leg is feeling better, Karen! I always love reading your positive comments and encouragement! :goodvibes

I ran 5 miles on monday and it was great running weather. I had a tshirt and pants on and I was actually hot.:thumbsup2 It was my 1st run past 3 miles since the princess. I need to get going considering my next half is may 1st. I would have to say the 5 miles was glorious yet painful. I could really feel the weakness in my legs from not running consistently for awhile, I also had a side sticker for about the first 2 miles. But once I finished it felt so good. I am glad I got back out there! I am planning to run again tonight probably 3 miles and then 7 this weekend. Eating has been good too.:thumbsup2 I also started doing my strength plans and did them 2 nights in a row so thats progress.

Great job being on track with your running and eating, Lindsay, especially during your stressful week!

QOTD Weds 4/6/11 What exercise excuse do you use most often?

-- I don't have time
-- I'm too tired
-- It's too difficult for me
-- It's boring
-- I don't want people to see me
-- I don't know what I'm doing
-- I don't make any of these excuses

I don't have time (although I have more time now), It's boring, I don't want people to see me.

Maybe you will be able to work in some new activities with your girls! :thumbsup2

LisaH-I heard you got swept at the princess and I admire you so much for racing. You are going to rock your next half!

Thanks, Lisa! :flower3: The standing still and going backwards thing did not work for me for years so I really have no other choice but to just keep swimming! :fish: Plus I had such a wonderful time with all my WISH and BL friends. :flower1: I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the new Disney race with be at DL.

________

I Don't want to... Is my most often used excuse

Hmm, is there an activity that would make you want to be more active? Or can you work some additional activity into your day so you don't have to -- like track your steps with a pedometer. :cool2:

40 days til Disney World!!

The busy week is almost over! :thumbsup2

If I NEVER see another slice of turkey breast after these two weeks, it will be okay with me! This SB diet is definitely NOT something I could do long term. Just not my kind of eating. In fact, I lean much more towards a vegetarian type of diet. We eat meatless dinner at least twice a week and sometimes as often as 4 nights..... and I don't eat much meat during the day either. Mostly beans, fruits, veggies, hummus, peanut butter, some lowfat cheese.... and of course, complex carbs!

Sounds like you are doing well for Phase 1 -- can't wait to hear what the scale says! :yay:

QOTD- none of the above. Lack of motivation/laziness
Gotta run, DCL is announcing their new itineraries in three minutes!

Thanks for telling me about this -- I was excited to see that DCL is cruising out of Seattle next year. No just have to figure out how I would pay for it. ;) Got a lot of day dreaming out of the two week Hawaii cruise but it will never work with DS in school.

I was a bit down-in-the-mouth due to a little mini-stall over the past week. Then I remembered to take my measurements again to see where I was at, dur.

Very stoked with the inches progress: 4" in the chest, 6.5" in the waist and 4.5" from the hips.

This is fabulous! :woohoo: If you aren't doing WIN! you might want to think about doing it now.

I REALLY need to start taking my measurements...I hear you about the scale, I feel the same way, when it stops I lose a lot of motivation.

You guys inspired the QOTD! :flower3:

I seriously cannot keep up with this thread.

Don't worry about keeping up -- just post when you can. :)

Neither can I. I just come and read back a page or two whenever I have time. :goodvibes I figure I'll never be able to keep track of everyone every day, but there is always something to be learned or enjoyed from whatever I have time to read. :thumbsup2

This advice is spot on!

Okay, will be back later this morning to finish the replies.

If And tonight I will get Subway for the kids and pack myself some food to eat while out running errands.

Ended up packing food for ALL of us, as I didn't feel like paying for Subway (although I might have a free sub coming on points.... not sure). It was certainly healthier and cheaper than a stop at Subway. I splurged and bought DS a small Frosty at Wendy's to reward his patience while I was running errands. And I told him that for once, he wouldn't have to give me a "small bite"!

I Pjlla: Oh, I hear ya on the sliced turkey. Not a fan here. One of the things I most looked forward to adding back after those 2 weeks, outside of another breakfast choice, was some strawberries and apples.

After these two weeks, assuming I've lost most of these last few pounds, I plan to go back to my normal eating.... maybe with a small reduction in carbs.... like maybe limit my bread type carbs (whole wheat Sandwich Thins, high fiber english muffins, high fiber wraps) to just once a day..... but fruit is coming back full force!! Mmmmm.... apples!

I seriously cannot keep up with this thread.

Don't worry about keeping up. Just pop on when you can, read the last page or last two pages, chit chat if you have time, and that's enough!!

Thanks Rose and P!

Well, my weigh-in at WW wasn't pretty. I bought myself a new 3-month journal and am starting fresh. I got in a short workout tonight and am aiming for 6 a week. Thursdays will likely be my rest day. I really need to make exercise a routine, so I'm taking the shorter times over more days approach. I can do 30 minutes on the recumbent bike, but will need to work my way up to that on the treadmill and elliptical. I also need to add in some strength training. I have to use the Wii Fit more often too. And, most importantly, I have to stay within my points.

It's obvious I know what to do. I just need to do it. I'm ready to do it and I WILL DO IT!

Have a great day everyone!

Pamper Week, Thursday:
1. Smile at 5 people in passing.
2. Have a healthy dessert or snack.

Yup.... you KNOW what to do.... now to find the motivation to keep at it!! That fresh new 3 month journal should help!! Do you have a bike, TM, and elliptical all at home??? Lucky you if you do!!

Okay.... I'm not a big smiler (too shy), but I did smile a lot this morning! Healthy snacks..... always. Today's will be an exciting 4 cashews (yup.... you read that right... just 4 for 1 point!) with a cup of green tea this afternoon. Cashews are already measured out and in my lunch bag, so no temptation to overindulge!

I don't have time. Really, I do have to sleep sometime and that is all I can give up at this point. :cool1:

I did smile at at least 5 people today and I had a healthy snack, but those are the pampering for tomorrow :lmao:

I know the feeling. When people talk to DD about doing something else (like get a job or take Driver's Ed or doing some volunteer work), we always talk about how the only time left in her schedule is potty time and sleep time!!

Keeping up with a healthy number of hours of sleep is CRUCIAL to your overall health! Don't sell it short. I think that you are FAR better off getting a full 7-8 hours of regular sleep every night than trying to rise early or go to bed late to get in 30 minutes of exercise. Work in that exercise whenever you can with daily activities..... jog up the stairs when carrying the laundry, power walk across the parking lot at the grocery store, take the regular stairs instead of the elevator or escalator (or powerwalk the escalator). Bring your sneakers to work and power walk just 10 minutes during your lunch time.... things like that really add up!! I know I'm singing to the choir here.... you know all this!

Good luck today! I'll be thinking of you and praying for you!

Hi, everyone!
CC- I am glad you have a plan. I know you can do this. I think the three month journal is a great idea. I bought one too and it will take me right up to our trip. Can you imagine how accomplished we will feel at the end of every day that we journal? We should challenge each other to daily journaling. :)

I was really looking forward to my WW weigh-in tomorrow but I ate too much sodium in a late dinner tonight so now I'm worried. I had a delicious dessert tonight- an apple steamed in the microwave with Taryn's delicious Pampered Chef sweet cinnamon. Yum! Then I did 2 mile WATP. Off to bed now.

You should be fine! The apple sounds delicious! I love that you are challenging CC to journal every day with you! It is so nice when someone else is counting on you to keep up with a program!

I find that I do better when I have the ability to plan ahead and track as I go..

today I did OK
I nanny 2 16hours a week, and then am working towards my masters the other days
the 2 youngest of the 3 were both sick with fevers and a slight stomach bug so that meant that a) I could not use the treadmill while the 2year old napped as he literally had to be held for hours at a time and b) when the 10yr old got home and wanted me to make peanut butter brownies i relented and then proceeded to eat 2 servings of them!!

so all told i was about 300calories over maximum goal for weight loss, but still in the weight loss "zone"

hoping tomorrow is better!!!

Hey.... the kid was demanding pb brownies.... nothing you could do but make them and share them, right??

.
pjlla isn't it amazing how when dh is out we change dinner plans so easily. My dh doesn't like mac and cheese so when he would be out that is what we would have for dinner.

Well.... especially since DS is allergic to chicken, so I would have been making it for just DD and myself.... so no point in it really. Plus tonight's dinner had originally been a recipe with carbs, so I was going to have fish. It was just as easy to reschedule last night's to tonight and bump tonight's off totally.

And since I was able to "wing it" for dinner, that meant I was able to find the time to take DD to the Y for an extra workout that she was wanting. Win-win situation.

I'm anxious to see what happens with your weigh in. I thought about trying SB again last year, but realized that since I don't do meat that it would be a lot harder. I think it does a fabulous job getting you to focus on your food and really kick starts weight loss, so hopefully you will be able to kick those last couple pounds to the curb.:goodvibes

I hope that these pounds really disappear. If they don't, I think I absolutely MUST consider changing my goal to a solid 133 pounds and just leave it at that. I don't know what else I could possibly do. I'm not willing to do anything drastic because the weight would probably just come right back on if I lost any.

It is harder on SB than I thought because I really don't care much for meat. I am kind of "choking" down the lunch meat. Last night's smoked ham seemed SO salty to me. There really isn't much pleasure in eating this way. But I can handle it short term.

I am happy to report that I ran/walked ~1.75 miles yesterday with a 2/.30 interval.:goodvibes We walked before and after and went a total of 3.6. My knee was pretty sore at the end, but I came home and iced and iced and iced and it's feeling good today.:goodvibes I am going to run again on Saturday. To me the most positive sign is that it feels good today. I might have to break down and have him treat the plantar-fasciitis as well. I'll give it a few more runs with the new shoes. It did not hurt during the run, but my foot is a little sore this morning.

Today is opening day for Milb--we have season tickets! So exciting! Did I tell you all that they are supposed to have g-f beer? I am really happy about that.:goodvibes We are really going to have to plan to eat at home this year because there is almost nothing I can eat at the stadium--peanuts and softserve and chips are the only things I can think of. Sometimes they have roasted corn. Not a great selection. The good news is we should save a ton of money this year!:goodvibes

Have a great day everyone!:goodvibes

Glad to hear that the knee seems to be improving!! You are on the upward track back to your regular running now!

I think that the ballfield should allow you to carry in your own g-f foods if they can't provide them!! Then you could bring in your own snacks and enjoy their g-f beer and Mike could eat what he wants.

Morning all,

Got up and did the 3 mile Pilates walk! Feeling great this morning!!!

Pilates walk?? Sounds interesting. Do tell!

dinner was pjilla's roasted chicken in the crockpot. it came out pretty good except the breasts were very dry. so i served it more like a stew with all the liquid and that was good. pretty healthy i think too!

Next time try cooking it breast-side down. That might improve the breast meat.

Sorry about the "help".... sometimes NO help is better. But I think she probably meant it in the best way. Find her a job to do!

Wish I had words of advise. Sometimes they don't even know themselves what is bothering them at that age! You'll get through it.... both of you.

I definitely need to commit to journalling my food again. I'm holding my own this week on the scale, but am definitely eating more than I should.

I'm up for a journalling challenge if anyone else is interested. I am going to start today, and journal every day til Easter sunday. That's just over 2 weeks. I can do that.

Yes you can! I will join in with all of you to committ to journal every morsel, every crumb, every lick, every bite!!!

Haven't taken a peek yet. I try really hard to just weigh in once a week. Too many head games otherwise. Fingers crossed for tomorrow though.

Maria/Worfiedoodles- I miss you. Hope you can pop on in here and say hello soon. I got to get back to the princess thread, too, but time just gets away from me.

I have PM'ed her a few times recently and she seems to be doing okay after losing her "healthy lifestyle" mojo for a while. Hope she pops on here again soon!

:flower3:

Honestly... the number on the scale is it. Maybe how my clothes are fitting occasionally.

I TRULY wish I had had the nerve to take measurements and maybe better pictures when I started this journey. It would be so neat to have something concrete in addition to the scale, to measure my progress.

***********Happy Thursday morning friends! Sunny and chilly here, but not unbearably cold.

It was SO hard to get up this morning. I gave myself 101 excuses to just lay there..... but the other part of my brain kept telling me that 45 more minutes of sleep wasn't going to make any big difference in how I felt today and that I needed to MOVE IT! Glad I did, but it was tougher than usual.

I'm about as tired of veggie egg white omelets as I could be! Today's was broccoli slaw and sundried tomato with a bit of light swiss. And of course, I couldn't even TRY to enjoy it cause I was running late, so I had to gobble it up. Morning got away from me, as usual!

Never made it to my scrapbook table yesterday, but tackled a few jobs that have been hanging over my head like the mess on the top of my dresser and the junk drawer. And they were both full/covered with clutter because people have been too lazy to put stuff where it belongs! No lie, the junk drawer probably had 25 pencils and 25 markers.... when we have a LABELED, DEDICATED container for each of these items in the kitchen closet!! :headache: That's not to mention the handful of Legos, and (no kidding) at least 15 pairs of kids scissors! I didn't realized we owned that many!

And the top of my dresser..... mostly other people's (kids) CRAP!! But it's clean now!

I'm at work today, so I probably won't get back on here, since I will be outside for recess duty  and then I will be super busy all evening playing crazy kid taxi! DD has swim and DS has dress rehearsal for the play.... I will probably be driving pretty much straight through from 3:00 until at least 7 pm..... back and forth! I might be able to hop on after that, but no promises.

I hope everyone has a super day! ...............................P

Loved this Lindsay! It's got to soon be time for DHs new job to start.

Mike starts his new job on the 18th. His last day is next thur. It feels like its taking forever. He is doing fine and they are being ok with him for the most part and he really has no worries anymore so its been much nicer living with him.;) I am just hoping this next job is as good as it sounds.

 for baseball season. Our local team starts tonight too. Mike has gone the past 2 years to opening night with Ryan but this year decided to skip it. The weather has always been so cold that they would be miserable after the first few innings. Today is low 50's and rain so I think he made the right decision. I love this time of year!!!! (well once it warms up.;))

Drink lots off water to flush it out today Cam, you should be fine. The dessert sounds delicious. Have you heard from Taryn. I PM'd her a few weeks ago and she replied back but I thought by now she would return to the boards. Im a bit worried.

so all told i was about 300calories over maximum goal for weight loss, but still in the weight loss "zone"

hoping tomorrow is better!!!

300 isnt too bad! I think you did the best you could with all the craziness around you. Today is a new day!

I found a great place for lunch. The grocery store!

Isnt it funny that we just dont think of the grocery store for quick needed items but I find that ours here have some of the greatest salad bars!!!!

um, i live in the bronx. we do NOT do #1. :rotfl::laughing: just kidding!

too funny:rotfl2:

sorry your helper turned out to be a dud! I hope your class is a blast today and that thomas sleeps good this afternoon!!!!

Lindsay- Happy birthday to Nick! Sounds like you have a full week planned. Is it just you and nick that go out to lunch? That is so nice for him to have some time with mom without big brother. Enjoy your week. Thanks for the support too, it's another day to start over again.:rotfl:

Yes it will be just me and Nick and he gets to choose. I have taken off on their birthdays since they both were born. They get to spend the day with just me!!!! Ryan was upset this year since it was his first year in school he didnt get the entire day off. He didnt understand why he couldnt just take off. I can tell Ryan is jealous that nick is off tomorrow and he has to go to school but such is life. Im sure its hard being the older brother (first child). We are picking him up earlier than usual so he still gets a bonus too.

I obsess over the scale but can really tell in my clothes and my energy levels too. So I would probably say all of the above. I try to notice the nsv more because otherwise it can really drive me nuts.

Lunch is going to be difficult today. It's Teacher Appreciation Day (or week or month...I can never remember) and the Parents Association is throwing us this fabulous lunch with amazing food (homemade apps and dessert with a catered main course).

Happy teachers appreciation day!!!! Enjoy your luncheon and your wkend in philly with your nephew. Im sure he will love your gifts. I find the crayola bath stuff alot at target too.

Woke up this morning and I'm 220.2 I am almost out of the 220's YAAAAAAAY

that puts me at 29 lbs of weight loss total and 12 lbs since I started here

Great job on the weight loss!!!!

***************************************************

Hello all!!!!

Its another rainy morning and I too had a hard time getting out of bed. I was woken up by nicholas trying to serve me a hotdog and ketchup from his new grill. Who knows how early he got up and was playing downstairs while everyone else slept.:lmao:

Today is my "friday", I cant wait for work to be over. No motivation today but I have a bunch of stuff to do. So I should get motivated I guess.:confused3

Ryan has tball tonight and I am toying with the idea of missing it so I can run but that is giving me some guilty feelings so Im not sure what I will do. I am having subway for lunch and I have to decide what to make for dinner. I really need to get some quick recipes together to use once tball is in full swing and dh's hours change. Otherwise it could become a fastfood disaster.

Have a great day all.

Hi Everyone!

I have not posted lately. I am still at an even 20 lbs lost, so not real gain, but I am not losing either. I am okay with that, but have another problem and I am looking for your advice...bear with me.

Last August I woke up and my left shoulder hurt. Over time it seemed to have gotten worse. But I could not pinpoint the pain. It radiates down my arm and sometimes into my wrist.

Finally at the end of Feb. I decided I had to do something. I went to the Chiropractor. After a month, I am not better. I have been going 3 times a week. I feel better that day, it begins to tighten day 2 and then the cycle starts over.

I had an MRI on 3/22. It looks normal except for...
"very small subcortical stress-related cyst posterior lateral aspect hemeral head". They say that should not be causing the pain and motion restriction I am having.

I have an Appointment with an Orthopaedist on 4/20. Should I see him or a neurologist? Any thoughts, ideas to help with the pain which is especially bad when I sleep...etc.

Things I do at home...ice, aleve, ibuprofen. Nothing seems to be helping.

Thanks!
Nancy

It's obvious I know what to do. I just need to do it. I'm ready to do it and I WILL DO IT!

Go, CC, go! :cheer2:

I don't have time. Really, I do have to sleep sometime and that is all I can give up at this point. :cool1:

I did smile at at least 5 people today and I had a healthy snack, but those are the pampering for tomorrow :lmao:

Well you are ahead and you are so very active already, Deb. Good luck with the new job today! :goodvibes

I was really looking forward to my WW weigh-in tomorrow

Good luck with your weigh in today, Cam. :thumbsup2

I find that I do better when I have the ability to plan ahead and track as I go.

Hope that everyone is your house is feeling better today! :flower3:

Good Thursday morning Teams. We almost made it through the week.

:yay:

I am happy to report that I ran/walked ~1.75 miles yesterday with a 2/.30 interval.:goodvibes

:woohoo: on the run/walk yesterday, Rose! Enjoy the game! :cool2:

I found a great place for lunch. The grocery store!

This is a great idea!

Well, need to get the kids moving so I can get my day going! Just made my tea and drinking my water!

Enjoy your busy day, Tracey! :flower3:

hanging out for a little then having breakfast and heading to the school for mommy and me class. the thursday class is the crazy one so i'm hopeful that there will be a nice long nap happening later on! i also want to try to get on the elliptical today too. haven't exercised in days.

Enjoy your class, Nancy. Hope you can get that nap in. :goodvibes

Not much going on here, but it's been another morning where I can't wait for the bus to come. :rotfl2: I'm trying to figure out if it's him or me, or a combination of both.

Oh, its him, totally him. ;) That's my story and I'm sticking to it! :lmao:

I was just thinking this morning about my clothes. I was nervous to put on a specific top this morning because it ends up a bit short BUT I put it on and it fits soooo much better!

I love it when that happens! :cool2:

I have not had a chance to stop in here all week. sorry for being MIA.

I posted a gain for last week (I think I was 222.4 if I'm not mistaken) well my body is making up for it I guess LOL.

Woke up this morning and I'm 220.2 I am almost out of the 220's YAAAAAAAY

that puts me at 29 lbs of weight loss total and 12 lbs since I started here

Great job! You'll be seeing that new decade for good in no time! :thumbsup2

:lmao: Well, at least he didn't try to do any real cooking! See if you can get him to entertain himself on Saturdays so you can sleep in.

I have an Appointment with an Orthopaedist on 4/20. Should I see him or a neurologist? Any thoughts, ideas to help with the pain which is especially bad when I sleep...etc.

That is a bummer, Nancy. Sounds like you are doing a good job seeing what does and doesn't work and what might be wrong. I'd probably do the orthopedic next. Can you ask one of the doctors that you've already seen to prescribe something for the pain? It's frustrating to not know and not feel good, too.

I tried the new Lean Cuisine Thai-style chicken egg rolls for lunch yesterday. Very tasty and only 210 calories. They had the little crisper pouch, like Lean Pockets, and identifiable veggies like yellow and orange peppers and water chesnuts. Yum.

Anyone else cut their landline? Or maybe I'm the only one who still had one. It's been a week and I don't miss it at all!

Have a great day all! :flower3:

Good morning, everyone! I was unexpectedly tied up in a 2 hour meeting, so I am playing catch up now. EEK!

Lindsay - I haven't heard from Taryn, but she is my FB friend. I haven't had a chance to get on there, but I will try to do that tonight and see how she is.

Thank you for all the WW weigh-in mojo, everyone! Usually I take off my rings before bed because they have gotten so loose that they are annoying in my sleep. Last night, I was glad to take them off because two of the three were uncomfortably tight. This morning, my fingers looked like sausages. LOL! So, I wasn't expecting much at weigh-in. I guess I should be glad the scale was down .6 but I couldn't help but wish for better. Next week should be my big scale "WHOOSH".

Okay, so who wants to join a journaling challenge with me? Should we do it here? or set up a new thread where everyone can check in? I think, so far, Kathy is on board with me. I'm not sure if CC is game. Who else? Anyone? Bueller? ......... Bueller?

Okay, here it is. Let's commit to journal our food, even if it is just for the next two weeks. This might mean only writing down what you eat and the portion size for now. If you are able to track points or pointsplus or calories or some other nutrition information, too, that is great -- you are already on to "step 2". So, who is with me? (Kathy, I've "volunteered" you, my friend :cutie: )

QOTD Thursday 4/7/11 is Do you measure progress without the scale and what do you use?

I use how my clothes fit, especially my belt.

This is fabulous! :woohoo: If you aren't doing WIN! you might want to think about doing it now.

You guys inspired the QOTD! :flower3:

Thank you. *blush* I'll have to look up WIN! and how to get in on the inches thing after this post. To use a wonderful word I learned when living in Glasgow, sometimes I'm a right dunderheid and miss out on so much.

Mmmmm.... apples!

That sounds excellent. I love my fruit too!

I know this point-of-view isn't popular with many low carb diehards, but I really believe that picking what works for you personally then moderation of that way of eating is more important than one type of "plan" over another. When the hubster and I lost those mega pounds all those years ago pre-baby, we did it starting off with Atkins. Then we moved overseas to France. Let me just tell ya: a low carb lifestyle and France aren't the best of pals. So, we went from low carb, to relatively high carb: with fresh breads, lots of cheeses, meats and pates, wine (oh the wine) and some other-worldly desserts here and there. Because we did a lot of walking -- down to the village, to the shops -- we kept the weight off. I really think it was all down to moderation -- us not overeating or eating processed junk -- and all the exercise we got. Just my personal 2 cents!

Missoutandabout congrats on the inches

Thanks so much. :)

I'd posted about this yesterday; I'll add to it a bit in my answer below...

I was on the blue side all last week from the scale. For whatever stupid reason, I can't NOT get on the scale every morning. :headache: It was just sitting there, at the same number, day after day. Taunting me. Making me want to chuck it out the window. Anyhow, then the lightbulb finally turned on  and I remembered that I should measure myself. When the hubster and I started Atkins all those years ago, I bought in to the idea of taking measurements when we started that diet -- which turned out to be an excellent thing to do. The thought of taking pictures makes me slightly  ... :rotfl: Anyhow, when we started our South Beach journey this time, thankfully I remembered to take the measurements again. So, lo and behold, the measurements I took on Tuesday revealed a loss that wasn't showing up on the scale. That's an instant warm-fuzzy -- exactly what I needed.

The mood and the self-esteem are getting a much needed lift as well. The hubster is constantly commenting, "You're looking in the mirror AGAIN?!" :rolleyes1

I do wish I had some "mid-range" clothes still. All I seem to have are the "skinny" clothes and the "big clothes" -- loathe to go out shopping for in-between stuff. :confused3

Sorry to ramble on. Enough from me! Hope everyone has an excellent Thursday; we're almost through to the weekend. :thumbsup2

Well, here I am 39 days from Disney and 1.5 assignments from being done with school.

I was talking with my mom on the phone last night and long story short she's coming to Texas for Mother's Day weekend. She moved to IL middle of August last year and it will be the first time I've seen her since she left.

Anyway, I was telling her how busy I've been and this rambled out of my mouth:

This weekend I have to finish school
Next weekend (April 16th) we have the Kenny Chesney concert (also my best friend's birthday that day)
April 23 - Our big grand opening for our auto shop
April 30th - Alan's birthday
Friday, May 6th, your flying in from IL
Weekend of May 13th Alan and I will be packing for our 8 night stay at BLT for my graduation celebration!

Its weird I'm never busy on weekends and usually just spend it lounging. But dang I'm a busy person all of a sudden! :lmao:

Whittle Inches Now! (WIN!)
* Connie96 will be our Whittle Inches Now coach (WIN). This is our newest component of the WISH Biggest Loser Challenge and another way to measure your success -- by tracking inches lost! Thank you, Connie96, for being our WIN keeper!
* There will be several measurements used in this challenge—more details to follow.
* Every four weeks you will take your measurements and PM them to Connie96.
* Your measurements are never posted for anyone to see

Quick questions for the experts: Should I PM Connie96 with what I have so far (taken from when I started) or just my current measurements? Also, I only have the chest, waist and hips -- and I now realise that I should've probably taken additional "locations" -- will this be a problem? Thanks a ton. :thumbsup2

We did this when it was about 2 hrs away from us too. Ryan was around 3. He was very into thomas. I have to say it was not worth the money.

Well, that is a bummer :sad1: Thanks for the insight though! I really wish this town offered more for families to do :sad2: It's so frustrating that we have to drive nearly 2 hours to do anything....I'm not asking for much, just some festivals, etc :confused3, something! I suppose that is to be expected in a town where I don't feel comfortable being out passed dark :scared1:

I only measure my progress by how my clothes fit and my scale...I'm thinking maybe I need to look into some other way because it's getting a little discouraging.

You guys inspired the QOTD! :flower3

Cool  :woohoo: :)

Anyone? Bueller? ......... Bueller?

Are you a Psych fan? Just wondering because I know they have an episode with this title ;) Love it!

******************

Not much going on over here today. Had subway for lunch and I'm working on my water. Water isn't going so well today, but I haven't given up yet :goodvibes I'm just not in the mood for water today

Dinner isn't going to be too good for my diet, we'll be having Ci-Ci's pizza per DH's request. No big deal, I can find a way to stay on track if I can stay away from the cinnamon rolls :headache: Plus I'll be getting in my hour long, hill workout this afternoon, which will provide me with a little bit of flexability with my calories.

I'll just have to jump back on the wagon tomorrow, I don't foresee a problem as we'll be having whole, wheat spaghetti with vegetables and baked chicken with a salad.

Nicole :littleangel:

Are you a Psych fan? Just wondering because I know they have an episode with this title ;) Love it!

LOL! Nicole, no, I don't watch Psych. I just love that scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off where the teacher just keeps calling his name and there is radio silence. Totally makes me :lmao:

Enjoy your dinner tonight! I went to one of those in Orlando when our DD was doing the college program and I could not believe all the delicious (though not nutritious) choices. Personally, I am so glad there is none too close to my house. I really hope you can resist the cinnamon rolls if that is your plan. Just think of how impressed you will be with yourself and how proud you will be!:dance3::thumbsup2

Would you believe that I'm actually here today? I hope I don't give any one a heart attack by chiming in for the first time since VERY early in this game.

Best thing to do is go ahead and take all 5 measurements today and PM that total to me. I will write that down as your 3/25 number and we'll use that for comparison when the 4/22 measurements come around. I think that will play most fairly for all the other participants.

Welcome aboard!! :goodvibes

Hi Nicole. I have to ask... where in Central Texas are you? If you don't mind sharing, of course. PM if you prefer. :flower3:
